Pros: "Crew is wonderful .they do everything in business class to make you feel comfortable"
Cons: "I will never fly China Eastern again. EVER !! I need to add an extra day or two onto our flight. We purchased business class flights so they are not cheap. In order for us to make a change they want $1700 each person, a total of $3400 to take the same flight two days later. The fee is the highest I have ever hear for the same flight class .. I will never ever use China Eastern again, they are taking advantage..I could actually buy a return ticket on another airline for cheaper than they want for a flight change."
Cons: "Singapore airport to awesome. Easy to get around."
Pros: "Nothing is amazing."
Cons: "8 hour delay. Paid for luggage. No food or beverages. Man behind me played a loud video with a baby crying and wasn’t told to turn it down. No help with luggage up stairs or down stairs."
Pros: "Everything was fine. Thanks for the great services!"
Cons: "Nothing yet."
Pros: "Loads of space. Super crew,"
Cons: "Nothing. It was perfect."
Pros: "Price is cheap"
Cons: "Food was not good. Everything else was just okay."
Pros: "Surprised at the variety in food offered (2 different dishes), check in was easy and quick. Blankets and pillows were provided on each seat."
Cons: "Seats were not as comfortable as I wanted but I was in coach so you get what you pay for. I traveled from NY to Japan with a connection in China and I would definitely do first class next time only because those seats reclined more and they had more space. My coach seat would be fine for a shorter flight."
Pros: "No entertainment available No food offered It was a short flight from Shanghai so was a typical experience"
Pros: "This would be my first and last time using this airline. They chatge you extra 1000 RMB just to sit at the emergency exit seat and won’t let you sit there even when it was empty."
Cons: "Flight attendant from Bali to Shang Hai had a big attitude even other passengers were complaining about him there were two guys one was nice and the other must of hated his job instead of asking he was demanding us to do things with a mad face the whole time since we got on the flight we tried to put our bags in the overhead compartment and he was telling us to sit down first let other people walk by with luggage’s on our lap while we wait for everyone to be seated which I would mind but he has an attitude about it. Our neighboring passengers came on the plane and had the same experience with him and were telling me about his attitude"
Cons: "The whole experience with China eastern airlines. Will never book afain"
Pros: "good selection of movies"
Pros: "Really glad I took advantage of the private car service to and from JFK, it was nice to be picked up in an Escalade. Check in was a breeze. The Air France lounge at JFK was very nice, it was a great way to start our vacation at the airport with some light snacks and champagne. Seats on the plane were very comfortable in business class. Entertainment was a nice mix of Western and Eastern options, theninitial dinner meal was great."
Cons: "Fight attendants were just ok, they weren’t rude, but did not go above and beyond to make the flight special, there was constant smell of cigarette smoke, even though the flight was supposed to be non-smoking."
Pros: "Courteous service and comfortable seats (1st class)"
Cons: "Poor entertainment and no choice for food."
Pros: "Very good seats"
Cons: "Very few movies it the list"
Pros: "Low price"
Cons: "Skimped on napkins. Bread offered way a little much late."
Pros: "Food, entertainment, and crew"
Cons: "Lost mine and three other peoples checked bag on the connection stop in Shanghai. Took 6 days to get it to me."
Cons: "We didn't land in Clark but landed in Manila instead, 3hours away from Clark."
Pros: "The flight attendants were extremely rude and looked like they hate their jobs. They kept speaking to me in Mandarin, a language I do not understand and when I tell them I don't understand they get extremely annoyed and will repeat in english in a very annoyed tone. Service was horrible, when my friends and I tried to request for more water they pretended like they did see us or hear us. Overall, I will never fly with this airline ever again."
Pros: "I was very late to the airport and expected to have to make arrangements for flying the next day. The customer service agents on the ground at LAX still got me checked in on the flight and escorted me through security to the gate in record time. I am so grateful to them for that. The plane was newer and in great shape. Lots of entertainment and the crew onboard was very nice. My one complaint is that they expected us to keep our phones turned off the entire 14 hour flight! That really surprised me! Other than that one thing, I had a really pleasant experience and will feel confident flying them again in the future"
Cons: "No use of your phone is allowed at any time during the flight! I had to hide mine so I could listen to Spotify"
Pros: "Their Customer Service Staff at the Singapore branch office was very helpful."
Pros: "Still an excellent experience with China Eastern, but never imagined they would provide a meal with just a 2.5 hour to Hong Kong from Shanghai. Haha this would never happen with Delta or United."
Pros: "All the seats weren’t sold out so I was able to sit by my friend and we had an extra seat between us. That was the only reason we had any semblance of comfort in our seats. Entertainment on the screens is pretty good. The staff was better in this flight than on my way to Thailand."
Cons: "There was turbulence for probably the first 4-6 hours of the flight and frequently throughout the flight after that. There was no real explanation whatsoever and no communication about how long it would last. The pilot in fact didn’t communicate with us at all on any of my China Eastern Airlines flights. The seats were pretty cramped. I’m not a vegetarian, but no vegetarian options for food on any of my flights. The boarding process outside the US is also a cluster, and delayed as you’re crammed into a room waiting for a bus to take you to the plane. And if you are going out of Phuket Airport, prepare to not be able to check into until 2 hours before your flight, so you’ll be fighting for seats, outlets and space with thousands of other people. We had to spend 8 hours doing this before a 3 am flight."
Pros: "Cheapish flight"
Cons: "Late. Dropped passengers into pouring rainstorm giving us each a napkin for protection. Airport in Shanghai is consistently dirty, poorly marked and mostly unfriendly. Big gobs of snotty spit in the sink. Yummy!"
Pros: "Our flight was just fine. The food was about what you'd expect on an airplane, the crew was friendly and helpful. I was surprised that we couldn't even turn our phones on during the flight, although this makes sense to me. Unfortunately, I had loaded up all my books on my phone and not my tablet. Overall, about what you'd expect and not deserving of the negative reviews I've seen."
Cons: "The crew from China Eastern on the plane not too friendly. Not even "thank you", " please", "you are welcome ". Food not so good. Not enough choices."
Pros: "Nothing about it"
Cons: "Rude staff in spite of paying almost close to Cathay Pacific, journey date was forcefully changed just days before traveling with a layover time of 16hours instead of the original plan of 3 hours so was forced to stay overnight at a shitty hotel provided by China Eastern, Check in baggage not handled at Kunming by staff, airport hotel not inside airport, but 20mins away in some dirty part of Kunming, not even in the city. Taxi from airport to and from hotel had no space for checkin baggage and they had to be kept on our laps. No food provided at hotel. Very discomforting experience overall."
Cons: "China Eastern delayed flight...sat on tarmac for hours without explanation.. missed next flight...waited over an hour to be rebooked...had to pay for overnight..waited 2 hours in line the next day to check bags...not all of this was necessary!"
Pros: "Overall the flight was great, great service"
Cons: "the A/C performance was very poor and uncomfortable to sleep during the flight, it was too warm in the cabin."
Cons: "The service on the plane"
Pros: "The entertainment was good and they had free ample food"
Cons: "My flight from Densapar was 6 hours late. When we tried to get on the next flight to LAX we found that we had been booked for a later flight to LAX without our knowledge. Additionally when we tried to ask the boarding agent for help, she stopped speaking to us and we were forced to find another person for help."
Pros: "Crew was friendly, about as expected for the cheap price"
Cons: "No vegetarian option, in flight headphones were useless, can't use phone AT ALL during flight, gate was changed without warning (no announcements over the PA or notices posted that it was changed)"
Pros: "Food is good. Also, providing a real meal during a less than two hour flight is not common nowadays."
Cons: "Departure got delayed. Had to sit in the flight for 30 minutes on the runway."
Pros: "I was forced to book a $200 hotel room because your company would not pay for me a room to stay in because I had almost a 12 hour layover at night.so I will be adding that to the lawsuit as well."
Cons: "so I will be adding that to the lawsuit as well."
Cons: "Why can't you use phone in flight mode?"
Pros: "Loved the tai chi at the end"
Cons: "That flights to Vietnam take so long...which isn't really something that can change"
Pros: "The flight left on time."
Cons: "We had to dump out our water before getting on the plane. They had a place where we needed to either empty out the water bottles, or leave them behind. This was after security. We thought it strange."
Pros: "I like the seat configuration."
Cons: "The crew needs to work on their customer service. At one point they picked my husbands tablecloth and basically dropped off a fruit cup and fork for dessert. The plane was hot during the sleep hours. And I smelled cigarette smoke at one point. It woke me up it was so strong."
Pros: "Nice food, very professional crew"
Cons: "Other passengers completely disregard requests from crew to be orderly when boarding and deplaning. No semblance of any lines!"
Pros: "Service provided by air hosters"
Cons: "Short distance taken off. I thought it was risky"
Pros: "No delay"
Cons: "Slow check in and unprofessional attitude from HKG airport crew when line up to get check in. Actual check in was good,"
Pros: "The crew was very nice. The food was tasty. Water was offered constantly. With a long haul trip like the one we took, it was a welcome relief. The planes are older but fine. Lots of movie choices in English and with subtitles. I encourage watching some of the Chinese action movies. The are fun. I would fly with them again. Someone had a terrible review of Shanghai airport. There is an actual TON of stuff to do. The food we had was good for airport food, not Cat Cora, but not bad either. I had no issue accessing the WiFi or facebook. We also had no problem taking calls through the WiFi service WhatsAp.. I guess life is still what you make of it. Safe travels friends"
Cons: "Delayed flights, we missed other flights"
Pros: "Some of the crew were nice"
Cons: "There was a smell of someone smoking 3 times during the flight. Several times, I would ask for something (for example salt), a crew member would say...I'll bring it right over...and then disappear, not even coming over to say whether they have it or not. The flight was uncomfortable, mainly due to the toddler sitting next to me who was extremely loud and kicking everyone's seats around her. When asked to move, the flight attendant did look if there were seats available but said everyone's free seats next to them had been occupied because people were asleep, stretched out on them. When asked if there were maybe seats in the business class, the attendant wouldn't even hear of it, claiming that that is not area and thus she won't even check. Lastly, the food on China Eastern airlines always leaves me feeling a bit off. Freshness is just not their forte. But what can I say, their flights ARE cheap, so you get what you pay for. All in all, a mediocre experience, at best."
Cons: "Cancelled flight without reason. Terrible hotel and tried to make all travelers share a room. Breakfast at host hotel was three packs of crackers. No flight u til next morning and further delayed by two hours on tarmac."
Pros: "Nothing they were horrible. China eastern airlines is a scam. Stay away. They are run by the government and have terrible service."
Cons: "I had to buy a new ticket on another airline because I was left stuck in Shanghai for three days with no assistance."
Pros: "The plane was very nice with large on demand tvs for each coach seat."
Cons: "The food was vile, even by airline standards, stewardesses weren't particularly friendly, beer was served warm. And lastly, for God knows what reason, you can't use your phone for the entire 14 hour flight, even in airplane mode."
