As we took off we shared our concern for our connection in Guangzhou, after managing to find someone able to speak and understand English (unbelievable on an international flight) we have been told that would be fine and eventually worst case scenario there is another flight during the day. When we arrived we have been told nothing (even though we shared our concern from the beginning, they didn’t care at all, connection from the same company), when we went out of the plane we ask a crew member in the exit corridor who replied like annoyed of the question that’s fine take next on the left and next on the right (more with gesture than with an English language) when we arrived after running at the transfer gate we asked about the connection to Sydney the first staff told us that the gate was already closed and it’s too late, we then asked what to do : go in this queue and didn’t want to speak anymore. When we arrived at the desk we have been told gate is closed, wait on the side we’ll see later, we asked when and have been replied later....after 30min we have been told that there is no other flight before the day after (same company, different speech...) and wait again....there is another flight the day after in the morning with 6 seats available only...for the rest we don’t know we have to check but it’s gonna be hard because it’s the high season : Unbelievable as we were 15-20 people in this situation...after a couple of hour we have been offered to travel via Vietnam with a stop of 9 extra hours before having another flight of 9hours if we didn’t accept this one they didn’t know... Never ever again with this company and this airport..."

It was quite uncomfortable to be asleep and to suddenly have all the lights turned on and woken up to sit the seat upright. It would definitely recommend waiting till after this to fall asleep. And thing this was informed to the China Southern officials so that they could arrange something for me. I requested them to put me into another flight for which i was ready to pay the whole amount but no one listen to my request & i had to wait so long. I was amazed to see that no one was keen to understand my problem at both he airports i.e. Auckland Airport & Ganzhaou Airport. Apart from this the behavior of your officials was so rude & arrogant it made me feel as if i was a slave or some kind of culprit. Due to the ignorance & laid back attitude on your part i couldn't reach my destination on my time. Seriously it took me "24 hrs Extra" to reach my destination & as a result of which i couldn't perform the cremation. I was pissed off by the service; complete ignorance by the staff/officials of ur airlines. I wasn't expecting this kind of treatment from a reputed company like you. I request you guys to look into this matter seriously and try to take some corrective measures so that this thing won't happen in future with someone else."

They also offer TV from different lands and video games and selection of languages to hear them in. Great food - Even economy passengers get great free food during the trip. For a trip as long as going from Washington DC to BeiJing, they give you two dinners. Roominess - The seats are as cramped as any airline. However, the flight attendants don't give you are trouble when you want to get up and walk around and stay standing and talking with people of a long time. It has two isles so it feels pretty roomy to get up and walk around. Friendly staff- They make american flight staffs look very rude."

I am not sure if this was safe to do so but the plane was extremely bumpy, going down rapidly for about 30 minutes. The whole cabin was then in chaos. People started turning up, crying and writing last words. However, your crew members GAVE NO INSTRUCTIONS, BROADCASTING OR UPDATES ON WHATS GOING ON. What they did was mocking around with each other in Cantonese. 3. This would be my last time travel with you - I was your loyal customer since student time. But after this awful experience I chose not to go with you anymore."

They also booked our tickets with only an hour to switch and had to be rushed through security."

The ground staff was completely unhelpful. I was barely able to secure an alternative flight home after about a half hour of negotiating. I don't think I could have got the flight at all had I not spoke Chinese. None of the other foreign nationals were able to get a new flight. The flight they put on back home had to stop in Hawaii and cost me a good extra 8 hours. I got home 12 hours later than I had anticipated. I am filing for compensation. What a joke. Air China shouldn't even both with international flights if all their domestic flights are delayed and they are barely able to help customers speaking their native language (to say nothing of English)."

I ordered special meal which was good and you can have wine in economy if you want. Flight arrived on time. All in all flight was good."

Cons: "There was a 3-hour delay after all the passengers boarded. We were all sitting inside the plane without any explanation. At first, the captain blamed airport for not giving any updates on their departure, and a flight attendant that I talked to blamed the local temperature, which was a total nonsense. Later the captain announced that there was an issue with the engine. My layover was supposed to be 4.5 hours, but it got cut to 1 hour due to the unexpected delay that they had not clearly explained. I had to run to catch my next flight. When I got to my final destination, I found out Air China did not transfer my bag on time, so I had to file extra paper works in order to receive my bag two days later."

I was on hold for over 2 hours on multiple occasions just to make a simple change to my ticket, which for some reason can't be done online. After realizing their customer service number is a complete hoax, I had to take an hour long train ride to the airport to make the change. Once there, I was told they couldn't make any changes and I would need to call customer service. I insisted calling was pointless at which time the aiine staff shruggered her shoulders and walked away. I made another attempt to call the customer service number, which I still believe no one at all works at. Needless to say, I ended up eating a $1000 plane ticket because of their refusal to help. DO GIVE THESE PEOOLE YOUR MONEY. THEY TOOM PLENTY OF MINE."

Cons: "I was robbed in Osaka, Japan just prior to my arrival at Osaka airport, to leave back to USA. It caused me to miss my air China flight. Upon describing to air China why I was a 'no show', that I was robbed, they had zero sympathy, and demanded a 200-300 dollars flight adjustment fee, but I also had to print out several forms, sign them, and scan them back. I did not have access to those devices- so I was forced to buy an entirely new ticket, spending 650 dollars (had to have a friend back in the states buy it, my card and wallet were stolen). 650 dollars. Guess what American Airlines did for me when I landed in lax, and explained the situation to them? They understood, like human beings, and actually upgraded me on a new flight to Texas (my home). Air China showed no humility, no humanity, and quite frankly I will tell others of my terrible experience on air China."

We brought pizza on the flight and had oatmeal packets just incase. The airline hostess were all very rude. Didn't care to speak english or understand our needs. The check in reps were also rude. Theres no such thing as good customer service when it comes to air china. I will never recommend this flight to anyone or will i fly on this airline ever again."

We were flying to Korea and it's an international flight but everyone directed us to their domestic side and eventually couldn't check us in because we needed to goto their international counter. It's also so massive so I probably missed the sign but once we got to the right place everyone was helpful again. Would fly them again."

Cons: "Transfering in Chengdu takes forever. First we didn't get a gate and had to take a bus to terminal the long way round the runway - 10 mins. Then we had to collect our suitcases and re-check in and the queue was very long. Some people were very stressed about missing their connecting flights. Then when transferring to connecting terminal you first have to walk far within the terminal, then have to go outside security, find yourself the shuttle bus to the other terminal yourself, then go through security again - many more queues. Lots of time spent and lots of stress, and I'm not alone as everyone was complaining."

Cons: "The very worst thing is that I flew into Beijing 90 minutes before my next flight -- had to go through terminal transfer and a VERY LONG immigration line. In fact, I MISSED MY FLIGHT TO CHENGDU, and Air China had to book me on a later flight. The Beijing airport is cranky and difficult to smoothly get from one place to another, but missing this flight was COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE if there were ANY Air China staff around to assist and there weren't."
