Cons: Atrocious coffee in rooms. I spent AUD$6000 for a 1 week stay and I expect better coffee than the tea bagged coffee which was in the rooms. I've stayed in lot cheaper hotels than this one and had better in room facilities. Cost cutting on coffee is a sign of desperation.

Cons: The managers though are unfriendly at all. The orientation of the room did not match the pictures on booking. We lost two items which we were 100% sure they were in the hotel one was a an expensive brand the other was a new item with a tag, which were probably taken out of our room. The hotel did nothing about that, they are not safe to stay with. I have been to 3 stars hotels which i felt safer there.

Cons: My room was very small; although well appointed. Housekeeping missed one day of cleaning despite placing a sign for housekeeping and leaving at 8am and came back at 6pm and room was not done. Although when I inquired from a housekeeping staff still working. She was very apologetic and did a great job the next day. The gym is well stacked though being in the basement very dark.

Pros: This year was my turn to take charge of our Anniversary surprise - I knew I wanted to do a romantic night out London and wanted an extra special room to make the night even more magical so I booked a stay in the Drop dead Gorgeous splash suit. It really was drop dead gorgeous! It exceeded all my expectations in every way, my partner was speechless as we were shown around our room. The room was beautifully decorated; balloons and petals were put in our room which we appreciated so much. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The hot tub in the room was highlight of the night. It was so warm and cosy. The bed was so comfortable - We both slept like babies and had a wonderful breakfast in the morning to end our stay. I have been bombarded with messages asking about this room and have highly recommended it to every single person. Thank you so much for making our night so special! Hope to visit again!

Also, every night that we returned, our keys did not work; so after a long day, all we wanted was to go to our room to relax, but we had to make an extra trip downstairs to get working keys..3 nights in a row. Not a 4* hotel in my opinion.

Cons: The curtain rail isn’t working properly as some of them broken and one of the girl nearly burns skin as hot water comes sudden. The staff isn’t very helpful as we requested one of the room early check in as my girl was crying to sleep but she said I have to pay money to check in. Cons: There is no kitchen and only a cafe. So if you buy stuff to eat there are not a lot of places to eat(they do not really like you eating in the cafe if you do not eat their food). The lockers in the room were broken so I still put a lock on the locker to make it looked locked but it would be nice if they fixed that. Please fix that.

Cons: Smelly sheets, you can smell bad odor in the entire room and sheets. It looks like they never changed it from previous guests and they dont deodorized the room. You hear some noises from outside, towels and slippers are for sale? It never happened to other hostels ive been to. No toiletries like soaps, shampoo, etc. Unfriendly staff, long stairways to the 4-5th floor. The only consolation i got there is the breakfast, at least its not bad.

Cons: Cold breakfast - they need to get some better lights - warm plates would also be good. (They come from a plate warmer that seems to be turned off.) Rooms (even our so-called Premium Executive) are so pared down that the basics are not thought through. Mirror with plug for hair dryer/straighteners is between bedroom, bathroom and wardrobe, no room for anyone to get past. Also no surface for makeup, hot equipment etc. If you want to sit down, you have to drag a chair over. Not many people enjoy doing hair/makeup standing up. Bedside table is completely inadequate (about 6x8") We won't bother again.

Cons: Where do I start! Possibly the worst hotel experience in London for a 4 star hotel. This hotel is all show (on the ground floor) and no substance. Hilton should be ashamed of themselves for charging the prices they do for what is a mediocre hotel at best. I booked the Hilton for my 5 year anniversary as a surprise for my husband and it’s safe to say that this hotel completely ruined our special evening. When we walked into the room we were hit by the smell of cigarettes and sewage. The bed was as hard as rocks and I’ve slept on softer more comfortable beds In a premier inn. The room was shabby with a faux leather office chair that was cracked and balding, when you sat in the chair pieces of the leather would come off onto your clothes. The carpets were totally threadbare and worn, even some places soiled and dirty. There bathroom was grubby and outdated, it reminded us of being in a motel. There were black marks in the bath from where the anti-slip had worn off, in its place was a plastic anti-slip Matt which was disgustingly grubby. We ordered room service at 1:30am for a bottle of water and it arrived 40 minutes later and had to pay an additional £5 for the honour. Breakfast stopped at 11:30 and we went down at 10:50 and food was already being taken away. Our waiter barely greeted us and showed us to a table when he saw a friend at the table next to us and didn’t bother asking if we wanted tea or coffee. We had to find another waiter to order our tea and coffee. This hotel ruined my anniversary don’t be fooled by its grand lobby, it really isn’t a reflection of the room you will be given. They should invest more money on the terrible rooms rather than their lobby

Back to the hotel, the staff is amazingly friendly. Several Spanish speakers (mostly from Spain) work here, so that is convenient if you need translation. The towels are good, the water pressure I exceptional. If you get the breakfast included take advantage of it, the breakfast is very hardy.

Cons: As other reviews say the receptionist never answered the phone. As WIFI connection was horrible, when I checked out I complained to one of the receptionists who happened to be a manager. Her excuce was that the phone at the front desk does not work. ''It is not our fault, it is not like we do not want to answer the phone, but the phone does not ring." Well, fix the phone! I told her it is human's fault not the phone, the hotel has been lazy enough not to fix the phone. Stop making excuces This hotel can not be a 4 star hotel but easily 3 or even 2. Location should be closer to the center or metro station if they claim to be a 4 star. 11 minute walk to the Paddington Station. No internet in the room, and the reception does not care about it. Breakfast was nothing special, the room was small, and the bed was hard. Will never stay at this hotel again

The bedding was disgusting. I didn’t take any photos because I don’t want to be reminded of the horror. Don’t stay here, fork out the extra $100 and choose a well known hotel chain, like Rydges.

Pros: My stats at Barkstons Rooms are always extremely pleasant, especially because of the extremely friendly and professional reception Manager, Mary. She always greets me with a smile, she remembers my name and make the check- in experience is wonderful. She has exceptional customer services skills and her calm and peaceful personality is fantastic. She goes the extra mile to make your stay pleasant and give great advice. I also would like to acknowledge Sopan ( sorry if I misspelled your name :). He is very calm, efficient and have great problem solving skills. Even at 5h45 am, he greets you with a very warm 'good morning' and he is very understanding.

Cons: Well, where do I begin. Firstly there is NO drinking water on the property, unless you have change to buy a tiny plastic bottle from the vending machine. While the hostel claims to provide towels, they do not inform you that they will cost £5 to rent, and to store luggage also costs an additional £3 per bag. It was clear that any luxury had a price. Moving on to the bedroom, I stayed with 2 friends in a 3 person room that was not at all represented in the pictures. The room was tiny, could barely fit the bed and had water damage to the floor and scuff marks all over the walls. To top it off, part way through our stay, our door wouldn’t lock which was just the icing on the cake. In terms of public spaces, there was a delapidated outdoor area which could do with a lick of paint and only a hard, grey canteen for people to sit in and hang out. I have stayed in many hostels in the past and this one, was by far the worst.

Walls were pealing and dirty, floors were not clean, the bathroom facilities were cramped and gross, beds were horribly quality with springs poking you, and the staff was not service oriented or very friendly. Very disappointed in this location. After talking with some people in London we came to find out that our experience is not normal with hostels, most of the time they are better kept. This was pretty bad. Don’t trust the pictures you see in their ads, they aren’t what you will get.

Cons: I wish they assigned beds, not just say "take any bed that is not occupied", because it stresses me out that I might mistake an occupied bed for unoccupied.

Pros: Right around the corner from public transport. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pretty good value.
Cons: Rooms and facilities were suffering from either age, or poor design. Sometimes both. Had to spend a lot of time at cafes, because the room did not have an electrical socket for me to charge my phone. Only ventillation in the room was from an open window, exposing you to all kinds of traffic noise throughout the night.

Cons: Location was okay, near to where my tour started. There aren’t any lifts and my room was on the third floor so... no good with a suitcase. Staff were unhelpful unfortunately. Room was small, bed was uncomfortable and bedding was a bit yuck. Alarm went off at 2am...

Pros: My stats at Barkstons Rooms are always extremely pleasant, especially because of the extremely friendly and professional reception Manager, Mary. She always greets me with a smile, she remembers my name and make the check- in experience is wonderful. She has exceptional customer services skills and her calm and peaceful personality is fantastic. She goes the extra mile to make your stay pleasant and give great advice. I also would like to acknowledge Sopan ( sorry if I misspelled your name :). He is very calm, efficient and have great problem solving skills. Even at 5h45 am, he greets you with a very warm 'good morning' and he is very understanding.

Pros: Hotel was good, I was expecting more bad what we got. The room was just renovated and all was new in room. In Resecption staff was friendly. There was a small things what could be better but in the end I was really pleased that we chose that hotel for 3 nights in London. The location was really good and so close to underground.

Cons: The breakfast was very poor: just bread, orange juice, tea/coffee, butter and jam. The woman who take care of breakfast was really unfriendly and didn’t even say good morning to guests. Our room was in 5th floor and the water came very slowly and hot water came after 20minutes.

Cons: When we came it was still on renovation because they change management under OYO now. So the lift was broken almost all the time. The room we got hardly get any ventilation so it was super hot. There's not kettle or iron eventho they mentioned its provided.

Cons: Although there was work going on site says hanging rails for clothes, TV, but neither were there when question was told will be there end of November, paint all in the bath shower area and lift covered in plaster and decorating material and white chalk dust, should not advertise items that are actually not in rooms

Cons: Seemed strange there was no storage or even just some sort of hanging facility/space in the bedroom for hanging clothes. Shower was cold in the evening and morning and water flow of sink was so slow, not sure if this was to do with the current building works and/or because the room was recently refurbished and guess these are just a few teething problems. Also slight issues with advertised check in time, 1st room was not at all ready when I went to it, having already been to the hotel once and returning 30 mins later, to be fair at that point another room was quickly found and then prepared swiftly by the friendly and cheerful housekeeping chap whilst I waited.

Cons: the place was full of plaster dust carpet fallingoff stairs workmen everywhere and they kept closing the lift off so had to walk up n down stairs. no hot water in room said wifi but had to sit in front of hotel to access it. breakfast daily was a joke no hot food only coffee juice and crosant or bread roll. I don't call that breakfast.
