Pros: I absolutely loved this hotel! It was something a bit different. Quirky decor, very trendy and the bedrooms, whilst fairly snug, were state of the art with a fantastic bed and great shower. Loved the mood lighting. I think what made the stay was the staff, who were fantastic! Enjoyed the early check in and the late check out. The location was great too. Will definitely use citizenM again.

Pros: Room was perfect for a weekend. Huge bed with really nice linen. Great location, cool design.
Cons: Food and breakfast options weren't very appealing, seems better to go for a short walk in the neighbourhood. Self check in felt a bit like shopping at Tesco.

Cons: The soundproofing was not as effective as they boast about. If you are happening to be staying on Saturday night do pack some foam earplugs, there is noise from a nearby nightclub going to be on till 6am.

Pros: The quality of staff was a hit or miss. Overall, there were only two staff members who impressed me. The night concierge was incredibly attentive. Although a young man, he was clearly overqualified. The night manager was highly reasonable and particularly helpful when I confronted any problems with my stay. He had very good customer service skills.
Another nice element was the provision of fruit every evening. It was a unique and memorable touch. The variety included persimmons, bananas, apples, oranges, and plums. That was very nice.
Finally, the room offered outlets adapted for international travelers.

Pros: Location and value and staff
Cons: The housekeeping was very patchy . One time sheets not made. Another day despite telling reception room was free for cleaning at 1030 am -came back at 7 and room not serviced. However when I told reception this -v good and got management who emailed me and promised complimentary upgrade etc when I came back.

Cons:
7.1 Good
Pros: Loved how friendly the staff were, even got a welcome cocktail on arrival!
Cons: Housekeeping had missed a towel from the people before but this wasn't a problem. The TV remote didn't work properly.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was very good. Spa was good. Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful.
Cons: Slight issue with room not being ready. Was invited to the premier area to have a free drink. However we were left in a room where businessmen were having a meeting and all of the drink sat in locked cabinets so,we couldn't have anything anyway. No-one came back to check on us so we left for the bar.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish, centrally located hotel. Large comfortable room, loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Luxurious products and a very comfortable bed made for a great night away. Nice cocktails in the bar.
Cons: It was a busy day in the spa/wellness centre and the facilities there are not large enough and well thought out enough to accommodate. The staff seemed rushed and bored simultaneously which took the shine off what should have been a nice relaxing afternoon with friends. Sad to say, it lets the hotel down somewhat.
6.2 Good
Pros: The quality of staff was a hit or miss.
Cons: The negative element of the stay included the inattentiveness of most staff members. There was a lack of polished professionalism that is instrumental to a quality hotel. It felt like an disjointed operation.
As for house keeping, I was unimpressed. The bathroom was not well cleaned, and it appeared the floor towel was repeatedly unchanged.
Although the room was constructed with high-end technology, it was poorly integrated. The technology was not particularly easy to use and added little value. The television would not respond to the controller. Further, the television sat above the desk, making use of the desk awkward. Also, there was no light above the desk and no desk lamp.
Finally, both the pool and gym were inaccessible at night and early morning. This can be inconvenient for business travelers. Still, the pool was impressive.
Overall, I was disappointed and would recommend looking into other hotels, such as Apex (where I had a more pleasant stay during a prior visit).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly helpful staff waited a while at check in , but my wife and I were upgraded to a junior suite Very clean comfortable room Great nights sleep even though exceptionally busy area lots of roadworks . Not a cheap hotel but what capital city is ? Hotel has excellent facilities all round , the staff really stood out
Cons: London is a giant traffic jam but not much you can do about that .
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Room was spotless, beautiful decoration and everything brand new. Location wise, perfect.
Cons: Our bed wasn’t a double bed, they were two single beds that had been put together. It’s a tiny detail, but as it’s a 5 star hotel, I would expect at least a double bed.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Lovely spa area, bright and modern hotel. Food was good once it finally arrived.
Cons: Package which my partner had ordered (flowers, prosecco etc) wasn't in room when we arrived, no toiletries, tv remote not working (had to call 4 times to get this sorted, over 2 hours). Stains all over carpet. Stay at the Montcalm in Finsbury, had an amazing time and brilliant service.

Pros: I booked our stay as a 30th birthday gift for my girlfriend and the staff went above and beyond to make it a special occasion; helping me make secret preparations, assisting me with an early check-in and even giving us complimentary prosecco and cupcakes. The room had one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in and we spent a wonderful day at the beautiful rooftop Lido, swimming in the pool, taking in the view of Shoreditch and eating a delicious dinner of oysters and mac 'n' cheese in the restaurant. A birthday to remember; thank you so much to everyone at The Curtain!

Cons:
7.1 Good
Pros: Beautiful hotel
Cons: I booked a specific room and was given a key for an apparent upgrade, was not an upgrade they just didn’t have the room I booked. Had sent special requests stating the room I wanted and drove 80 miles to stay. Took an hour of sitting in 2 other empty rooms and a few tears shed by the time we settled it was 10.30pm and we were top tired to go out to eat . The man was not as helpful as he could of been I felt like I was having a battle with him..., the rooms are beautiful and clean but was not impressed with the customer service at all, the gym is amazing. Burned my foot pretty bad on the metal things I’m the shower which are labelled outside but once your having a steam they become invisible. Have stayed before and had a perfect stay which is why I went back but overall this time I was disappointed
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The bathroom shower had a steam setting
Cons: Two quests had sex on the terrace outside my window and when I told staff nothing was done
7.1 Good
Pros: Great location for shoreditch. The interior of the hotel and rooms is really nice. Room a nice size Red rooster restaurant really nice Bed extremely comfortable
Cons: Put in a wheelchair access room, think it’s nice when asked if this is okay but we weren’t. The bathroom had dark hairs in the shower and sink Was told our luggage had been put in the room when asked when we checked in but it hadn’t. Put in an enjoining room which had extremely thin walls and was able to hear the room next door having extremely loud sex (obviously not the hotels fault) but yes very very thin walls
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Lido restaurant with pool make very nice atmosphere! Nice personnel!!
Cons: Breakfast was very good, but not for 5 stars hotel!

Cons: Strange whistling sound if us or next door opened a window!

Pros: minibar was amazing. also the pool on the rooftop.
Cons: bathroom. was made for disabled people. because of that shower just had a curtain and the sink was much too low.

Pros: Breakfast was underwhelming. I don't think it is a place where people go because of the excellence of the cuisine, but probably the drinks are ok.
Cons: It was particularly loud over the weekend, with DJ sets and crowds drinking/dancing - I stayed at the 2nd floor and could hear the music. Moreover, every time I went downstairs to eat I found that every chair was occupied by locals using their computers. Perhaps the hotel has a very friendly internet policy, but it felt a lot more like a ' SHARED OFFICE SPACE' then a Hotel lounge.

Cons: -too expensive for what they have to offer -old room with visible signs of usage -they gave us a room for people with disabilities which was not the case - the windows don’t open so you need to go outside if you feel the need of fresh air -they are building a new floor above 4th floor where we had the room so from 10 am it was a little noisy (but they told us about this when we checked in and told us to let them know if it bothers us) -at the check out they charged us for something that we did not use ( some alcohol from mini bar) I’ve noticed after I left the hotel. I contacted them regarding this and I have no response from them...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredibly helpful in helping us celebrate a special occasion. The room and all amenities were of the highest standard and there really wasnt anything to fault - flawless
Cons:
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved the fact that we got a small box of chocolates recognising that it was our anniversary. Also, the front of house staff were VERY pleasant and chatty. Upon arrival, we were given a cool flannel, as it was an extremely warm day, which was very welcome! Loved the window shutter in our room...letting just the right amount of light in/out. Could do with those in my own house!!
Cons: We found it really difficult to find the hotel, as not well sign posted. We didn't think the area did the hotel justice, we felt it very run down which was a shame. Also, we left one of our personal dressing gowns on the back of the bathroom door without realising. Once we noticed, we rang the hotel(a couple of times) but have had no luck in finding it or any communication from the management with an offer of a replacement or reimbursement which would have been nice, as it was brand new. One small thing...the air cin kept resetting itself to a high heat...not good when it was 33° heat outside.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful, clean and modern. It’s a calming place to work but also a great place to grab a drink or bite to eat. The staff is the best part- they are so amazing and helpful.
Cons: Depending on what room you choose, the size may be a bit small. However, I think the point is to get out of your room and enjoy the rest of the hotel and the neighborhood.
5.4 Okay
Pros:
Cons: Work directly above our room that we had not been made aware about starting at 7.45 am Breakfast was farcical, 3 attempts to order a coffee when we were 1 of only 6 people within the restaurant
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, bed was very comfy and the location of the hotel is perfect. Also they gave us late check out complimentary
Cons: The view from our room was not a view at all, it overlooked bushes.

Cons: Major issue with flooring could hear the loud creaks 2 rooms away. Not possible to look out windows, they were covered with a film (not sure why) and would only open 2cm Shower was very small Party until 2am was not fun to listen to, generally street noise until midnight. Not the place to stay for an early night

Pros: It was perfect for where I was working - right across the street
Cons: The room had very little airflow. It was hot when I was there and they provided a fan but it didn’t do much. The hallway ha a weird smell.

Pros: Cleanliness. Practical lay out. (Plenty of shelf space in bathroom. Good unpacking and hanging area)
Cons: Room too hot. Noisy because it was a Saturday night. Parking impossible except for short stays. In fact Hackney Council offices are not available though quoted in booking.com. Other car parks in the vicinity all full

Pros: Breakfast in the morning is really great and excellent value. Good location in central Hackney. The room was clean and the staff friendly.
Cons: The bed was a bit small and the mattress was ok... we found the room quite stuffy, with a sound of an extractor fan outside with the window open. There was a fan available though. The shower in the bathroom is pretty weak and the corridors going up to the rooms are pretty grotty.

Pros: The fact we could leave our luggage before we checked in was very handy.
Cons: Some off the staff were a little standoffish and could have been friendlier - but I guess that could just be London. Some signs to let us know where we could get breakfast would have saved us asking 3 different people who gave us a few different answers. Enamel mugs without handles to make hot drinks in that were left in the room - totally impractical.

Pros: Bed was fantastic! So comfortable! Nice big towels and overall design of the room was great.
Cons: Wanted a kettle to make tea, but had to go downstairs to get hot water each time. Ideally it would have been nice to have a small refrigerator to keep milk or something since many of the restaurants and cafes weren’t open for dinner or very late. It could have been a bit bigger, but it was fine for one person.

Cons: After checking out I found out that some how my bank card was used to book a break in Amsterdam online and because I had not used the card anywhere else in London it must have been done at the reception of the hotel. I was refunded the money back into m y account by my bank but felt upset that someone would do this. Been told that some hotel staff are taking photos of credit card details and then using them so please be careful

5.8 Okay
Pros:
Cons: For a 5* it was a very standard hotel could not sleep properly as could hear every other guest in their rooms even coughing there’s gaps at the bottom of every door we put the do not disturb sign up but still had cleaners knock there was hair in the shower and the sink had a massive crack in it so would not rate this as a 5*
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were very nice and professional
Cons: We tried this place on a whim as our usual place recently changed hands. This hotel cost substantially more so we were expecting more. The description is misleading, the seperate seating area is simply a chair to even a sofa. A terrace suite simply over looks the rooftop bar. There is no protective mirroring on the glass so anyone in the rooftop bar can look straight in your room. No bath in a 5 star hotel. Took a £100 deposit for a mini bar that was completely empty. The options for a full English breakfast were limited, scrambled eggs only. Will not recommend and will not stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the beds were amazing so was the spa and exercise facilities
Cons: The bar was pretty subpar.. terrible lighting and uncomfortable seats etc.. I had arranged a business casual meeting there and we ended up leaving. but when you are in Shorditch there are so many options.
I know that it is a small thing but at this level it is the details that make the difference, the fact that there was instant coffee in the room seemed to be an oversite.

Pros: The decor, the space, the staff all very pleasant and helpful. Valet service was a great touch.
Cons: The room service was terrible, no calls answered, the bed wasn’t made, no towels even upon third request. Unfortunately we had no hot water at all between 6am and check out - not happy at all
5.0 Okay
Pros: Roof top bar when open
Cons: Please don’t stay at this Hotel! We had no hot water in our room for a morning shower, fair enough things go wrong, but the staff were unsympathetic, there was no manager on duty to sort things out. But worst of all the management will not acknowledge or reply to any of my emails. An apology would be nice!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The physical hotel and location
Cons: Extremely disappointed I’d booked this hotel as a birthday treat for myself and it was a big deal as I was leaving my 3 month old for the first time to have some well deserved me time. Unfortunately I was so shocked at the number of service issues at this hotel that during checkout I decided to raise this, my comments were passed onto the operations manager (Jerome) who committed to looking into the issue and getting back to me. Despite me chasing twice I never received the feedback which I feel sums up the service at the hotel! - The Hair dryer in the room was broken and we had to call twice and wait 20 minutes for a new one - We’d booked the room for 3 people however there were only 2 of everything e.g. towels, mugs, robes etc and we had to ask for extras - There was no one at spa so we had to go behind the counter and look for clean towels, robes and slippers as we were told we didn’t need to take them from our room and unfortunately the steam room out of order which we were not told about at check in - My friend had bought in a birthday cake for me and she was told this would be left in the room however it was not there so when she went looking it seemed to have been “misplaced” - Breakfast the next day was an absolute disgrace (which we paid extra for) and so many other customers were complaining also. Hardly any food was brought out so during the whole time at breakfast there were no beans, eggs or orange juice

6.7 Good
Pros: Convenient for Liverpool St station. My bed was £25 for one night, plus an extra couple of quid for a towel and shower gel. Reception open 24hrs is good.
Cons: My towel had lots of black marks like it was run over by a digger, but it was cleverly folded so I didn't discover this until after I was soaking wet in the shower. The towel was probably washed, but maybe it's better to throw old white towels with big black marks in the bin instead of handing them out to guests. Room had everything I needed but there was a loud rumbling coming from somewhere all night. Could have been tumble dryers in another room. Kept me awake, sometimes the bed was vibrating.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location is great, the pub is busy though so don't expect to chill there.
Cons: No kitchen facilities or common room. The room was cramped. Not a place to relax, just for sleeping while you sight see.

Pros: Room was clean and comfortable with a lovely shower
Cons: The bathroom had a very bad smell from the vents like cooking veg very odd, no lift and stair was narrow and uneven. Breakfast was not good at all very basic and low standard, breakfast was cheap but not so cheerful! No fruit, no eggs no real choice toast or cereal.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was 2 usb ports, light, and a curtain for each bed. This was really good as I did not need any adapter to charge my phone. Staff was super nice, 24h reception.
Cons: The bathroom was small, not so clean and shared with everybody of that floor.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. Bed and bathroom were lovely.
Cons: I stayed in the private room on the top floor. It advertised a kitchen which was there but there was a sign saying i was not allowed to use it due to health and safety. Also there was no curtain on the kitchen window and no door between kitchen and bedroom so the lights from the street were quite bright when trying to sleep. Also there are Weird green lights on the ceiling above all the doors which can no be turned off so if you like pitch black to sleep, don’t stay here!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location is pretty good
Cons: The electric socket above my bed did not work so I had to go to the common room which is downstairs whenever I need to charge my phone.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location and price point was super helpful.
Cons: Hostel bed double booked, but reception blamed woman in ‘my’ bed for sleeping in wrong one, waking her up in the process. Reassigned to other bed only to be woken up by angry man. Bed was obviously his as he’d been staying at the hostel for a number of days prior. Assigned to third bed in same room with occupants now highly irritated by my presence. Checked out at 4am due to unbearable heat In room.

Pros: The room was big and comfy and had everything we needed. I didn't get one but liked the idea of the free coffee. The location was great for the wedding venue. We were only 10 mins away by car.
Cons: I checked in on the 27th September. The check in area was packed and it seemed only 1 guy was checking people in. There was another lady there who said very little and was helping 1 other customer the whole time we were waiting to check in. I paid the full amount on card for my room. However on the 25th September my card was pre authorised for the full amount £605 a total for 2 rooms 1 £271 and the other £334. I am still waiting for the £334 pre authorisation to be returned to my account a week after it was taken and almost a week after I paid the full amount. I have spoken to my bank and they have said the money is still being held by Kip. Can you return this as I can't access this money and I've paid you for my stay in full now. I also didn't like being told off for talking to my mum outside her room in the morning at a reasonable volume to then be woken that night by loud voices talking/shouting in the corridor.

Pros: Close to Old Street Tube station although you must get around the construction happening in the area. Convenient base from where to travel anywhere. Breakfast was abundant and filling and breakfast staff very helpful.
Cons: We stayed for 4 x days. The elevator worked intermittently during our entire stay but they did not place a board to prevent people from using it. When you use it you will just get stuck in the lift. Building is old and in desperate need of a facelift. Bed is so bouncy that it takes time to get used to when sleeping. Housekeeping not so good as they did not replace our coffee, milk and shower gel. Aircondition did not work.

Pros: Good location, comfy bed
Cons: We kept asking them to clean our room, and it was always sloppy. We asked for toilet paper and towels for 3 nights in a row, and they've left dirty mugs in the room to a point it was full with fruit flies. There is no phone in the room, so you need to go downstairs and ask for whatever you need every time.
