Pros: Exactly what I needed for a one night business trip. Room is compact, but designed to be so, and spotlessly clean. Has a great location, fast wifi, brilliant communal spaces for getting out the laptop, and it took less than a minute to check in and out.

Pros: The rooms are little pods, but really fine for the price. Very clean. They are having issues with the some of the iPads that control room temp, lights, etc, but assured me this was a temporary glitch, as this was a new batch. The lobby is amazing and the location stellar. The staff might be the nicest and friendliest of any hotel I've ever stayed in. Inexpensive and tasty buffet breakfast at communal tables gives you the chance to chat with lovely people from all over the world. Rooftop bar has beautiful views.
Cons: Just the iPad situation, and that was very minor compared to all the positives. The controls were still functional, so no real problem on my end. Just had to frequently reboot.

Cons: If you pay for your breakfasts when you check in you save a couple bucks vs. paying on day of. I can understand that you'd want to have an estimate of how many diners they will be but, come on, this felt a little nickel and dime-y when everything else was so seamless.

Pros: The hotel was completely booked, so we got a complimentary suite upgrade! The bathroom was incredible, bigger and more luxurious than mine at home. The beds are extremely comfortable. Location is also fantastic, on the north side of Times Square so well-situated for midtown sightseeing.
Cons: Like many hotels which include a continental breakfast, the dining area can be claustrophobic at busy times. But the food at breakfast was excellent. The nightly wine and cheese reception is from 4 to 5 p.m., which is too short and too early to be beneficial if one is trying to sightsee during the day and go to the theater at night.

Pros: Great location! We stayed at The Peal because we visited NYC to see Wicked. The Pearl was perfect because were only two blocks from the Gershwin Theater. Beyond this, lots of food and shopping places are nearby. On one occasion, we ate next door at the E&E Grill - fantastic!

Pros: My first concerns for any hotel stay is the hotel safe and is it clean. The Carnegie earned top grades in both these areas. Very clean and great location. I walked to the Metropolitan Opera House in the evening and was quite safe. A 10.00 ride home (10 including tip!) was how I returned to the hotel but I almost walked....too tired. Also a short walk to the MOMA........Staff was genuinely friendly and concerned that my stay was comfortable. Upon making my reservation, I requested a room on a lower floor, and it was honored. The reception (Elijah?) made sure I was comfortable with the room. The wine and cheese reception was lovely and the woman who was the hostess very outgoing...pleasant woman.

I called operator, he sent "engineer" which couldn't do anything he said that's the highest, i called operator and said it's not acceptable, he said the they can't do nothing the whole hotel is set at this temperature (really??). I said show me another room as u sound now ridiculous. Then the same(!) "engineer" came and.. oh miracle (!) he fixed it. I said all of u guys are such LIARS!! Just made me SO mad and irritated for no reason. Overall: WAY overpriced hotel for the way it is, HORRIBLE "costumer service" from most of the stuff here, no room delivery after 11:30pm (really?!), No parking space, Spent almost $300/night for the room doesn't even have tube. It's not a hotel, it's bullshit!.

Pros: The location is excelleñt, and everything is fine. Clean room, nice view, quiet, easy check-in/out, validated parking. The bed was comfortable, and every call to the hotel before and during our stay was.answered by a person who was knowledgeable and polite. Very nice.decor and shower.
Cons: The price was a toich higher than we hoped, but considering that we were able to walk everywhere, the extra $30-$40 was a premium for the location. Parking is only a few doors away and validated so remember to get your parking ticket stamped.

Pros: We liked everything about the hotel. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and the location was on Broadway, just one short block from 7th Avenue. I would stay again. It was a very good experience.
Cons: The only thing I questioned (but was not a big deal) was the bathroom was small - couldn't fit 2 people in at once. The shower pressure was too good. Meaning that it hurt the body when the hand held was used. The rain shower was good but if you didn't want to wet your hair, you had to use the hand held which in turn was so powerful that it hurt the body. It didn't bother me that much but it was the only thing that was a bit uncomfortable.

Pros: This hotel saved us after an incident with our Airbnb accommodations left us stranded in the city. We are so glad to have found this gem, at a reasonable price and in such a great location. The excitement of Times Square is right outside your door, yet inside the hotel you are able to get quiet and restful sleep. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the hotel restaurant just before our broadway show, and then walked a few blocks to the theater. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: The location was ideal for our purposes, being close to theatres, restaurants and Rockefeller Center. The staff were nicely accommodating and helpful. The place was clean and comfortable.

Finally when he given me advice it went wrong. I wanted to go to Statue of Liberty and he told me to pick a taxi instead of metro. It cost me 35 dollar in the taxi and driver told me best way was metro and he surprised travel concierGe advised me taxi. He said this people doesn't know anything about outside. Not even a bottle of water complementary. All toiletries are bare minimum and had to ask for certain things.

On my third night the Novotel wireless network didn't even show up on list of available networks and was seemingly down for the remainder of the night. Not as big a deal on a leisure trip, but if I had been there for business I would have been screwed. The sink in the bathroom was poorly designed. Every time I turned on the faucet, water would splash up and out of the bowl and get everything on the counter wet. Had to keep water on lo-flow to avoid this.

Pros: Once you get past the unprepossessing lobby, the hotel is really excellent. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was large, comfortable and well-appointed. It was bitterly cold so we ate in the hotel, choosing the bar's little plate menu over the Vlentine's Day special menu; each choice was delicious. Large, contemporary bar and restaurant (maybe showing a little wear on the cushions) and excellent service. Location, right on the corner of Times Square, can't be beat if you want to be in the middle of it all. Not cheap, but we weren't on a penny pinching trip. Worth every penny. Special mention to the concierge for fulfilling a couple special requests.

Pros: The location is spot on, the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. The check-in/out is easy and the personnel is corteous; we had t use their concierge services twice and they were friendly and prompt.
Cons: Given the hotel class and its prices few things could be better, like a Nespresso machine in the room (very common these days even in 4 stars environments) - a greater selection of TV channels would also ber good. Therer's a Samsung tablet in the room, but you can't really do much with it. On arrival with luggage etc. we had to open the doors ourselves - minial as it may sound, when you're loaded with luggage opening a heavy door isn't that easy especially when you se the door men happily chatting inside.

Pros: The Knockerbocker was a very nice hotel with a great location. My only complaint was the day that we left, we stored our bags for a few hours. When we came back to pick them up, it took 20 minutes or so to get them. I had to catch a flight. The front desk was unapologetic about it. They just stood at the desk, while customers waited and were dissatisfied. They need to make sure they are staffed properly at a busy time, and if not, other staff should pitch in. It should be a group effort, because it makes the hotel better as a whole.

No hand towel rack—where do you put them? Disconcertingly loose bathroom/shower fittings. No coffee. Stain on couch.

Pros: We came for the birth of my first grandchild.the hotel is very modern and sleek. Our room was large and well appointed with all of the modern technological conveniences. The mattress was very comfortable with high thread count linens. The bathroom was large and had more bath accessories than I have ever seen. I.e. Cuff links, tooth brush, paste, etc. I loved the large soaking tub. We never heard any outside noise even though this hotel is located in Times Square From the front desk to the doorman, the service was incredible. Leilani, one of the managers even gave us a gift for the new baby. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Pros: The hotel is a landmark. It is in a great location and gives great access to Central Park. It is also not too far of a walk to the theater district. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable.
Cons: The staff seemed indifferent. The revolving door wasn't working, so we had to go in through side doors. The doormen (sometimes as many as three) just stood around watching, not helping at all with the doors, which were heavy. Breakfast in the lobby: we were seated and I asked the purpose seating us to bring coffee. He said the server would be right with us. After 5 minutes there was no server to been seen. Why didn't the person seating us just bring us coffee? Very mediocre attitude. This hotel was not at all worth the price we paid.

Pros: Everything was great about the Plaza! The hotel staff was so nice. They were always asking us how we were doing and if we needed anything. Our room was amazing! Very luxurious! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The mini bar was filled with all kinds of drinks and snacks. I think our favorite part was the bathroom. The walk in shower with the huge shower head was ginormous! The tub was rather large too! Everything was very very clean. It felt like it was brand new and we were the first people to stay in it! The hotel location was great also. Central Park and a subway station is right across the street so it was quite easy going to and from the Yankees games. We will definitely stay at the Plaza again!

The art in residence program showcased interesting pieces of art throughout the hotel. The rooms were lovely, comfortable bed, very clean - an all around 10 out of 10 stay!

Pros: The hotel itself was just far enough away from the craziness of NYC, but close to everything. Bed was comfy. Room was quiet even by the elevator. Shower had hot water/ good pressure. What really stood out were the associates at the front desk who went above and beyond to help us when we had a major issue with booking (not at all the hotels fault) and when I left my phone in a cab. JARED went above and beyond for us. He literally saved us in both situations and we can’t thank him enough. He kept his cool, worked hard to resolve the issues and never made us feel like a burden. He is the real MVP!! (We were also impressed with ANTONIO, who was very friendly and accommodating.) I will def recommend this hotel to others!

Also we paid extra for a "city view" and got a room that was only half way to top and we could barely see anything..stuck in a recessed nook and go see only building across the street. Our daughter's room was inside view room but had better views than our room. Naldo we could have had breakfast there for $32.00 per person...no breakfast is that good! The bed was not made well...the bottom sheet stopped 8-10 inches before the end of the bed...feet touched mattress protector and top sheet didn't stay in place...they need to get better sized sheets.

The only advantage you have is location.1.The room is quite small, no coffee maker (I requested 2 times by phone, excluded I came to the front desk to request face to face),no refrigerator(you need to request, the quantity is limited and no one replied about whether they would supply or not.) 2.No hair conditioner in the bottle at the first night I stayed.After the third night, I left a note in the bathroom for the housekeeper and said"please refill the conditioner. Thanks." No one cared about this. The bottle was still empty. 3. Airconditioner was broken. Luckily the front desk changed a room for me. This is the worst experience I have in NYC. I am pretty sure I will not choose this hotel in the future and tell others about this experience. Again, if you don't care about the service at all, choose it. If you don't mind to walk several minutes more to Times Square or other sites and want better service and bigger room, Holiday inn midtown at 57th street is a good choice. And the rate is lower than park central.

I spoke with 2 receptionists before and after check-in/check-out and they were both dismissive to my questions refusing to answer simple questions like where can I find certain amenities. What is the hotel hiring these clowns for, just to simply run your credit card and give you your room key. No skills in customer service and proper human interaction for that matter. I will not be staying at this hotel again if they continue to hire incompetent staff. This is unacceptable in the industry, especially for the location. The area and it's visitors are wealthy high class people, so to be treated with such low class service is s disgrace. I will be telling all of my business contacts to go elsewhere. The staff, the room, the bathroom, the concierge, the location were all wonderful! Our 2nd stay in June 2016 was nice but not as excellent as in 2014.
Cons: I booked the Park Central through hotels.com in 2014 and 2016. I chose it for the clean and well kept rooms, the location and the price is fair. In June 2016, We were put in a "courtyard room (graveyard)" because of the price that we paid. If we spent $75 more a night they would upgrade us to a normal room. This room had a window but barely let in any natural light. You couldn't see what the weather was like until you went outside. The bathroom was so tiny that the only way 2 people could be in there at the same time was if someone was in the shower and the other at the sink. The shower was a tiny stall! I couldn't bath without my elbows hitting the walls. Although, the similar price in 2014 gave us an amazing room with a street view and a huge bathroom (no need to upgrade). The staff on this last trip were friendly but seemed to be rushed. Not the cozy vibe that we had in 2014.

There were plenty of common areas to sit. The market was very reasonably priced and had delicious sandwiches, coffee, etc. The staff was friendly and professional. Pros: We reserved a King Room with premium views and were given a courtesy upgrade to a Junior Suite which was nice. Hotel was so quaint and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Our room was nice, clean and well appointed with great views of Lincoln Center and 63rd Street.

Pros: The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC.
Cons: The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.

Cons: I booked a room with 2 queen beds through Kayak, I received a confirmation from Kayak - Room Type = Double Queen Bed. When we arrived at the hotel I was told that Double Queen Bed means you can sleep "2" people in one bed. So is this a typical bait and switch? This is how I felt about it. They were not accommodating about the situational, after about 8 hours, and asking several times if we can help us out in any way, we found a blanket and pillow on the floor next to the bed. They did offer an upgrade for an additional $60 per night but it would have only been for one of the two night stay so we would have to switch rooms on our second night. The manager on duty told me that I should be contacting Kayak for this as it was not there mistake. Ok I can understand it may not be your mistake, but I am staying at your hotel making me a paying guest. That in itself shows the lack of professionalism form the on duty manager, Kahneeta. The fact that she wouldn't call Kayak and inquire about a possible issue with how rooms are being displayed on Kayak's website clearly shows how much she cares about her guest's experience and frankly for her job. I will not be staying at the Empire hotel on my next visit to New York nor would I ever suggest it t o friends. Kayak, I've used your service several times in the past without issue and enjoy your services. Please address this issue as it is not fair to your clients....

Bottom line: the price and location were amazing, and the room was quiet, likely bc I was in the back, and the hotel is located mid-block on 55th st away from avenues. In NYC where time in the room is limited, the bed is critical. This place is a new mattress away from being recommended. Pros: Loved the location of the hotel, and the complimentary coffee and snacks. The room size was adequate for our needs, as we were only in our room to sleep. There was minimal noise from outside, and we had enough space for our belongings. The safe in the room was an added plus.
Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable, and was almost as hard as the floor. Even in our exhausted state, we had trouble sleeping. Several of the staff, including the front desk and cafeteria staff, were brusque and tired of hearing questions or concerns. The other staff were friendly and partially compensated for this. In the end, it was a pleasant stay, but the friendliness of the staff could be improved.

Pros: The hotel is in a very good location, close to most tourist activities, Central Park and the subway. It's very quiet. We hardly even saw other guests. If you're not planning on spending much time at your hotel or in room, it's a good spot. The staff is very nice. A friend uses this hotel at least once a month and has always had good experiences.
Cons: For the entirety of our stay, one of the elevators was out of service and there were lengthy waits to use it. We were on the 8th floor, so that was troublesome. Our shower curtain had obvious black mold on it. There was a spot on the ceiling where a smoke detector had been, the cords just dangling. The room was very small and the bed uncomfortable at best. There's a $14.95 charge per day, per device for wifi in your room. The hair dryer provided hardly worked- the low setting not at all and the high setting was quite low. Our TV was very scratched at the bottom. I would not stay here again.

When I inquired about the discrepancy, the clerk said oh, it was an advertising mistake because those rooms are our penthouse rooms in the photos. While they knew we were two people in the room they consistently gave us towels for one (one wash cloth, one face towel, one bath towel). there was no patio as advertised. When we called to have ice (no ice machine) or anything else brought up, no one answered the phone at the front desk or house keeping. The windows did not work, the lights in the room did not all work. Horrible experience.

The staff was very friendly, and I appreciated the fact that there was a security desk in the lobby. Yes, many people get their mail through the web (http) nowadays, but many of us don't, and there's no security or other reason to block ssh, ntp, smtp, etc ports. First day, there was no shampoo nor conditioner in my room Second day: there was conditioner but no shampoo in my room. The second room was horribly noisy at night, it was in front of the elevator and the was a noise of something dropping inside a pipe. The third room I was in was in a floor being refurbished. The manager wanted to give us 2 bunker beds and we are a couple, we payed more to sleep together. Fourth room was kind of OK. I had to rent a DOUBLE bed room because i had a friend stay over (which apparently isnt allowed). Vending machines are sold out and gives you back change for your dollars but only takes dollars the change slots are glued shut so you can't get anything!!! It was the ABSOLUTE WORST!!!!!!!!! Electrical outlets do not work along with some of the lights!!!!

Pros: The location is superb and the staff is friendly. We had a decent view over Broadway. The price is b based on location.
Cons: Hotel is in desperate need of a Makeover. Missing grout in the bathroom, yellowing bathtub with soft spots, faucets missing screws and a thermostat that only knows "very warm", despite seeing it to 65 degrees (18C), no fan in the bathroom, are just a few of the issues. The parking garage under the Hotel is operated by a different company and is a disaster, both pulling in and especially when leaving. It took over an hour to get our car back, once ordered. Wr were told by others that this was common there.

Cons: We booked our stay online (as I’m sure most do). This was our first stay at The Manhattan but not our first visit to NYC. The website pictures advertised updated, modern facilities, which was true of the lobby. However, once you get off the elevator, you realize the rest of the hotel (minus one floor apparently) has not ever been renovated. Upon walking into our room, we notice that the wallpaper and paint are peeling, the furniture is chipped, the bathroom is covered in pale pink tile and includes a fluorescent light box is not even bright enough to put your makeup on. After placing a call to the front desk, we realize this is typical of a “standard” room. The modern and updated pictures on the website actually reflect the “executive” room. We upgraded as soon as a room was available, and the facilities were much more consistent with what we expected. However, we had to then deal with the thermostat being defective, so our stay didn’t brighten up that much. We will not be staying here again.

Cons: 1. No communication by hotel staff. They tried to place us in a room that is half the size of a regular room without even telling us when we checked in. We found about this when we actually entered the room. After that we had to reconcile this very uncomfortable and unexpected experience. 2. Hotel management spent 10 minutes explaining how they cannot keep the fully paid room and that upon check in they will place and assign the room of their availability. Why bother and pay in advance if there is no guarantee? 3. We didn't feel hospitality was there at all. It truly came across as just another place interested in making money rather than building long lasting experience 4. Hotel is definitely run down and it stinks super bad. 5. We would not recommend this hotel and definitely would not have given it 3 stars. Stay some place else!

Pros: Very good, central location on 7th Avenue. Just a few blocks from Times Square, Central Park, immediately adjacent to Broadway...can easily walk (or use subway) to anywhere in Midtown. Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. Had a decent breakfast bar in the lobby with very kind, courteous employees staffing it. Was an enjoyable visit every morning, though it's primarily only got muffins, fruit, and coffee.
Cons: Room was very minimalist and small. Bed was not particularly comfortable. TV only has a few channels and reception was fuzzy on about half of them. Wi-fi is not free - costs roughly $15 per day, less if you buy several days' worth of usage up front. Noise from the street below was pretty noticeable; it would have been very difficult to tune it out completely had I not been using ear plugs. Basically, it's cheaper than the other (nicer, I would assume) hotels in the area, but the location could make it worthwhile if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room...and it's NYC, so why would you? Spend a lot of time out in Manhattan, making use of the great location, and you won't mind the facilities as much.

Pros: The main floor lobby was done very nicely. The proximity to trains & Times Square was a plus.
Cons: Our room smelled extremely bad & even the man who brought up our bags noticed it & said something to us about how strong it was. It smelled strongly of weed. That smell lasted from when we entered our room until check out, our entire stay. We even kept the windows open. The only reason I didn’t complain about it was because we had adjoining rooms with the rest of our family & we wanted to be together. Also, the room is in need of updating especially the bathroom. The water in bathroom didn’t drain properly either. As well as the hallways on the other floors. It seems as if the only update was done in the main floor lobby because once you take the elevator up and the doors open it’s like you’re in a motel. The rest of the hotel is dingy & dirty. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and I could not get comfortable with springs stabbing my back all night.

They say, Location, location, location... well this hotel has that, steps from Broadway and Times square. It is an aging property, that while reasonably clean and comfortable, is in need of some basic maintenance (Cracking/peeling ceiling in bathroom, unrepaired holes, dripping/flowing faucet). Every request (to English speaking staff) was handled wrong... (Asked for a late clean, and got a refrigerator and microwave instead... :) ) No amenities on site.

Pros: Most staff was nice. Excellent location. Walking distance to Times Square, subway, theaters Hell's Kitchen, 5th ave shopping and many more. Elevators wasn't an issue for us. We asked about a refrigerator and they sent us one to the the room free of charge.
Cons: Definitely needs updating specially their bathroom and noisy doors. Wish it was cleaner. The housekeeping people really needs to be trained to be quiet and not to shout across the hallway and slam doors in the morning. They also forget to refill lotion/coffee. Sink and bathtub was clogging water always.
