Cons: The staff tried to make good on our numerous issues however it was a bit like a scene from "faulty towers" - the front desk/concierge staff were quite useless and were awkward in their approach and resolutions. It seemed like they needed a complete review of the end to end customer journey and review their end to end process - lots of gaps between departments (ie housekeeping and room service/dining).

Our Junior Suite (1501) was quite dark with small windows. The complimentary tablet is a gimmick and is not likely to be useful to anyone with a smartphone or their own tablet/laptop. No hand towel rack—where do you put them? Disconcertingly loose bathroom/shower fittings. No coffee. Stain on couch.

Tidy and trendy reception area. Room had nice view of Empire State, floor to ceiling windows. Paraben-free toiletries. Great location (next to Nordstrom Rack). Street market outside on Sunday. Pleasant and quite cafe area outside at back of hotel. The gym had what you needed plus apples! We we able to extend our check-out by an hour. We felt like we got a good deal. Everything worked fine. All the small extras get noticed and are appreciated. Thank you!

Pros: The staff were winners and made this short stay extra special for us - it felt much more than a hotel with their warmth, friendliness, very helpful tips and assistance with our airport taxi booking! The hotel and the room particularly was more luxurious than I had expected with views that made this a perfect New York stay. We ordered for food through room service and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality - the tablet through which we ordered and asked for clearance was perfect and makes this such a contemporary and modern experience. Finally we met up with some friends just before saying good bye to NYC, and the bar downstairs was so welcoming - I am pleasantly surprised that in such a busy city such as New York the spirit of this hotel in various differet ways touched our hearts making us want to come back for a longer stay!

Cons: The hotel is quite noisy even at night. Walls are a bit thin and on one evening there was super loud music on the roof terrace, which made it very hard to sleep. After some begging they put me in a different room that was less exposed but the service could have been much nicer at dealing with this complaint.

Bathroom cracks and holes need amending — pillows and duvet polyester, which is tacky and very 3-star quality.

Cons: This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Definitely a shame on the Intercontinental reputation and name. The staff need to be trained on the basics of manners before being trained on good customer service in the hospitality industry. We booked 2 corner suits. The rooms were so old and have not been well maintained and are much different that the pictures. Upon arrival we had to ask for complimentary water as there was no water in the room. Second day when we asked for water again we were told “ this property does not provide complimentary water and the guy who brought it to you was just being nice!”. Third day they decided they shouldn’t provide us with tea of coffee at all despite the fact that the facilities state that they provide coffee and tea. The cherry on top was the lovely concierge at the time of check out. I said “ excuse me” as i needed to talk to him about a pending matter and he looked at me and looked back at his colleague and continued talking as if I did not exist. When I said again “excuse me I’m talking to you” he looked at me and said ”look lady, I dont understand what you want from me. I wasn’t the person who took your bags look for him and dont talk to me!”. If he was trained on the basics of manners and good customer service he would be able to understand my simple enquiry and answer back politely! A horrible experience and I would never recommend this property to anyone.

The Room was outdated the jacuzzi was dirty and there was a dead bird on the terrace. We ended up changing rooms which had a beautiful view however the price I didn't think was worth it.

Cons: Our stay was for nine nights. Firstly, we were given a double bed which seemed like a king single and the springs were broken. It sagged in the middle so the first night was very uncomfortable. After we notified reception they got the supervisor and he agreed, hence we were transferred to a deluxe room which was much better. A few days after we checked out, we looked at our credit card statement and it appeared the hotel had charged us the full amount of our stay PLUS the bond on our check- in date, and then charged us again for the full amount on our check- out date. Clearly, there was a mistake. After many phone calls and emails to reception and being placed on hold, we finally got hold of the accounts supervisor and to her credit, she managed to rectify the situation with patience and efficiency. There was a process to "release" the monies. Apparently, the hotel places on "hold" an amount of money and therefore the monies is not returned/released for 1 or 2 weeks for US/local visitors and several weeks for international credit card holders. It has been terribly inconvenient for us. Other hotels just hold the bond amount and this is returned upon inspection of the room. Why this was not done in our case is staggering. I still do not know whether this was the hotel's mistake or whether it is their normal process. Either way, it's disappointing.

Cons: We booked a suite but for 4 nights people in the room next to us made a lot of noise. Even though security were told, this didn’t stop them. We wouldn’t expect to hear that amount of noise from staying in a suite. As soon as the room was vacated, our stay was then perfect.

Cons: The rooms are small, old and lame. The AC was either on really cold or not. The TV never worked. Our first room didn't have a shower curtain, they sent us to another room with a view of a wall. There is no restaurant. I will never go back there!

Cons: The room was noisy. The room overlooked a very bright neon sign that blazed through the curtains 24 hours a day. The whole property is old and well overdue for a refit. Paint peeling off, wall paper peeling off, air conditioner did not work well. The ice machine on my floor did not work (had been unserviceable for s long time) showing an uncaring attitude to maintenance.

Please throw those beds out from the room we stayed at and buy two new ones.

I am worried because we have booyyhis hotel again for two nights next week. The bed was also uncomfortable and only had one pillow each.
