Pros: The location is spot on, the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. The check-in/out is easy and the personnel is corteous; we had t use their concierge services twice and they were friendly and prompt.

Pros: Once you get past the unprepossessing lobby, the hotel is really excellent. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was large, comfortable and well-appointed. It was bitterly cold so we ate in the hotel, choosing the bar's little plate menu over the Vlentine's Day special menu; each choice was delicious. Large, contemporary bar and restaurant (maybe showing a little wear on the cushions) and excellent service.
Location, right on the corner of Times Square, can't be beat if you want to be in the middle of it all.
Not cheap, but we weren't on a penny pinching trip. Worth every penny. Special mention to the concierge for fulfilling a couple special requests.

Pros: The Knockerbocker was a very nice hotel with a great location. My only complaint was the day that we left, we stored our bags for a few hours. When we came back to pick them up, it took 20 minutes or so to get them. I had to catch a flight. The front desk was unapologetic about it. They just stood at the desk, while customers waited and were dissatisfied. They need to make sure they are staffed properly at a busy time, and if not, other staff should pitch in. It should be a group effort, because it makes the hotel better as a whole.

Pros: We came for the birth of my first grandchild.the hotel is very modern and sleek. Our room was large and well appointed with all of the modern technological conveniences. The mattress was very comfortable with high thread count linens. The bathroom was large and had more bath accessories than I have ever seen. I.e. Cuff links, tooth brush, paste, etc. I loved the large soaking tub. We never heard any outside noise even though this hotel is located in Times Square
From the front desk to the doorman, the service was incredible. Leilani, one of the managers even gave us a gift for the new baby.

Cons: Given the hotel class and its prices few things could be better, like a Nespresso machine in the room (very common these days even in 4 stars environments) - a greater selection of TV channels would also ber good. Therer's a Samsung tablet in the room, but you can't really do much with it. On arrival with luggage etc. we had to open the doors ourselves - minial as it may sound, when you're loaded with luggage opening a heavy door isn't that easy especially when you se the door men happily chatting inside.

Cons: Confusing lobby area. This could be fixed by relocating reception to the left side of the entry area rather than way up the end of the hall. It is too dimly lit too in my opinion. Our Junior Suite (1501) was quite dark with small windows. The complimentary tablet is a gimmick and is not likely to be useful to anyone with a smartphone or their own tablet/laptop. No hand towel rack—where do you put them? Disconcertingly loose bathroom/shower fittings. No coffee. Stain on couch.

Pros: My wife and I stayed at the Palace many years ago and this stay was the first under Lotte's ownership. It's a big hotel, so it lacked the intimacy of some place like the Lowell Carlyle or the Plaza Athenee. That said, it's considerably less expensive, unless you are in the Towers. What I found remarkable was the consistency of staff attitude. Friendly, appropriately personal, attentive, and helpful.

Pros: It was my first time in New York and the location could not be more ideal. The hotel was central to all of the main attractions. We stayed around Thanksgiving and all of the holiday decor were already stunningly displayed. A lot of tourists stopped by the outside courtyard, which is quite the photo opportunity. Inside the lobby, they hosted a "happy hour" during the weekdays around 5pm which consisted of small bites - all delicious and inclusive with your stay. My boyfriend had to work during our visit and a shuttle was provided to the financial district. The staff were excellent and very friendly.

Cons: We had a bit of a situation where we found rotten food in our mini fridge leftover from previous guests. The manager was very accommodating and provided great customer service. The only other negatives were that the internet was not included with your stay and the bellman/greeters stood by the door but did not open the doors for you which I found a bit odd.

But...wait for it...each time I ordered and confirmed my food items, I received a call back telling me they are out of at least one of what I'd ordered.

Cons: The room was never properly cleaned. I stayed for 6 nights and the room was never fully cleaned. The bathroom mirrors had the same smears the entire stay, the floor was dusty and hairy and I saw the same piles of dirt from day one. The glass shower wall had a soap scum that remained the entire time as did the bathtub. The entire room was dusty and never saw any of it cleaned. And I'm quite certain my sheets weren't even changed daily. I believe the cleaning crew only changed towels and made the bed. I also asked that they did not leave the a/c on 65 each day and i continued to return to an ice box daily!

Cons: The window was left open before my arrival. Upon arrival, the temperature of the room was 46 degrees.
I closed the window and notified the hotel staff immediately. For some reason they sent an engineer to the room. To be clear, the heat worked but the window was left open.
I turned the heat up to 80 degrees, turned off Eco Boost, and set the fan to high. When leaving, the heat had been on for over one hour. The room temperature had just barely gotten above 50. Again we notified the front desk. There was no attempt to make my room more bearable or to transfer rooms.
When arriving back at the hotel room around 11:30pm, the room was still under 70 degrees. Again I called the front desk. It wasn't until this time I was offered a room change, however at 11:30 I preferred to use extra blankets to stay warm.

When they selectively ask to see your room keycard to enter the hotel and you see the people in front of you stroll right in while you get "carded" almost everytime...Im a well groomed mid 20's asian business man on vacation what more do you want? And in the heart of korea-town no less! I avoided the staff for the rest of my stay due to their less than friendly disposition and most times they seemed too busy to talk to you because they are allll on their phones textingg! Mainly speaking of night staff. For such a historic Landmark of a Hotel the staff certainly takes away from its authenticity,beauty and glamour.
As far as the rooms go everthing seemed fairly clean and nice. Only issue was the brown water I had to shower in and the air condition wasnt working the first day but their engineering staff promptly fixed the A/C unit.

Cons: The hotel was overpriced for the general facilities on offer. Pay 30 dollars for a fridge when I'm paying x hundred a night? Kidding? No real dedicated space for guests to relax. Free wifi was not free as it was within service charge. This pricing policy really took facilities down to equivalent of a 2 star hotel or a B and B! Reception staff had an unhelpful attitude. This was on complete contrast to our stays in Boston and DC. Wholly unimpressed. it was almost like the abrasive attitude of Tines Square had pervaded the customer service.

Cons: While the staff was nice, they didn't do a darn thing. A smile and a kind word does not make a bed. I know this because one day we came back to a room that hadn't been serviced, reasons still unclear. We became quite close to Terrance, the front desk agent at night. Pleasant as can be, but it took 3 calls to get some towels delivered. We asked for tissues, and no joke- were handed a wad of tissues. Guess the boxes are for special people? Shampoo is also held in the vault.
The fan in the bathroom didn't work so everything just steamed up. The shower was broken and given it's a wall of glass, it's a serious safety hazard. It also meant the water just poured out of the shower and puddled on the floor. A real problem when you can't get an extra towel. The wallpaper is peeling up and there was mold, likely do to the broken vent. The window in the room was broken. We figured it was safe with our son cause it really wouldn't open, but it also didn't quite close. The black out curtains were the dirtiest thing I've ever seen and had large (obvious) rips in them.
Oh, and to top it all off they did maintenance on the plumbing and shut off the hot water. Guess how I found that out? Nope, not through a phone call or a note slipped under the door. But only once I was in the shower and the water just wouldn't get hot.
I paid over $300 a night for this. I will literally never return to this location, nor will I stay in another Crown Plaza.

It is a different way of doing things, and of course we travel to places to experience just such differences, but it different from what we expect. We would expect an employer to pay their employer a just wage that does not need to be augmented. I would prefer to just pay more for everything and not tip.

Cons: This is a strange hotel to try and rate. The rooms are like rooms on a boat. Small and practical. The gym was a little small for a hotel with this many guests. The location is just so so (pretty far West). But, it was quite a reasonable value.

Cons: The hotel is fairly new yet signs of deterioration are evident. Scuffs on wall carpet stains in the hall ways. The room was clean for the most part with a few places in the room needing a wipe down. All in all the place was good for resting and venturing through NYC.

Pros: Loved that it was so conveniently located to downtown and near trains. Staff is always available to help you with anything you need. They were friendly and went out of their way to help me when I had an issue with a lost bag at the airport. Really cute bedrooms, loved the extendable bed. Loved the beautiful view of downtown!
Cons: If you travel with a partner you should be very comfortable going to bathroom with them because the bathroom we had was essentially all glass with a thin curtain and sliding glass door separating us. Not really private, but again, if you're very close with your partner, no big deal.

Elevator keys did not work for several people, including me, to get to your floor. We rode up and down the elevator several times in less than 24 hours. Many others had the same problem. Big waste of time.

Pros: Great location, great price for the day we stayed, room was clean and a nice size for NYC.
Cons: When checking in they indicated that the water would be turned off at 9am the following morning for emergency repairs. So much for taking the say off and sleeping in. Well, apparently it was only the hot water, which we learned about after getting to the room and reading the note that was slipped under the door. When we got to front desk in the morning, they asked how our stay was and I said it was good. They asked - why only good - so I explained the water situation (it was about 10:30am). They indicated that they hadn't even started the project yet. We went from all water off from 9am-9pm, to only the hot water, to - well the hot water will be turned off - whenever. I'm sure there's a better way.

Cons: We heard a lot of noise in the hallways- other people talking and doors slamming. It was difficult to shut the door without having it slam loudly. Monday morning we walked out of our room to see that they were replacing the carpet on our floor. That's where the noise that morning was coming from. It would've been nice to have a heads up that carpet was being replaced on our floor during our stay.

Cons: As I arrived late I did not get the single room I reserved instead one of the bunk bed rooms. The room was a bit run down and the TV did not work. Also it was quite noisy and smelled of beer as other travellers were partying in their room. What I really did not like was that they checked me out before the check out time.I returned to the hotel before 12pm to check out and all my things were gone. The staff put my belongings in a plastic bag and stored it at the front desk.

Pros: The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Centrally located with a few block from everything. We enjoyed a very nice weekend away without our children. A great feature for only $5 was the luggage check. We checked out around noon but still had plans in the city. We were able to leave out bags conveniently.

Pros: We booked the wrong date for the hotel. After we went to hotel and was told by the first staff that the hotel was sold out. She did not check the computer. Then we sit down in the lobby and booked the same hotel in 2 minutes. We were assigned the room right next to the elevator and it was very noisy.
The location is great.
Cons: The bed was terrible. very soft. when one person moves, other person will be rolling around. For the 4 stars hotel, I will only give 2 stars.

Worth the money, even thought it is expensive for during the week stay. Very Quiet rooms, you didn't hear anything outside of your room.

Cons: Hotel looks like a stale, old bathroom equipment, there is no bar and restaurant in the hotel; standard rooms windows overlook the courtyard, or rather, the windows of another wing of the hotel, the constant noise of ventilation and construction equipment is under the windows. Of the six elevators only two operate in this multistory building. On the day of departure, I was late for the shuttle, since at least 15 minutes wait for the elevator to come down with luggage - only one elevator was operating! Reception explained that the hotel is in the process of reconstruction. But there was not warning about this on the site! Very disappointed!

Cons: I didn't like how I was treated by the staff. I felt that they weren't very accommodating at all even though I explained numerous times that I was traveling with a guest that had a serious medical condition and that we needed to check in early. I called ahead and informed them of our request but the manager that I spoke with was very rude and dismissive. They also put us in a very unsightly room with a broken heater unit that would randomly turn on in the middle of the night. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Cons: The room was tiny, like barely could walk around the bed tiny. We also paid alot of money for the room that was that small. We also had a view of a roof with hoses all over the place and in disarray. Also the building next door is undergoing construction which we were never warned of until we got there and I am a light sleeper, I was up until midnight and later with the jackhammer going off. I told the girl that I was a light sleeper at check in and she shrugged saying the room we had was as far away from the noise as possible but we were on the second floor on the same side as the construction. Check out also took forever and we were the only ones in the lobby at 5:45 am.

Cons: The construction next door created some traffic issues which meant a lot of noise. But we were so exhausted from walking around that we didn't have any trouble falling asleep. The construction itself didn't bother us.

The bar downstairs is super noise during the weekend, blasting music until 5am. The door slamming/poor planing on their part as far as architecturing the minuscule room was terrible. Drunks on the floor. No receptionist during late hours. The shower was cold. Elevators move at a turtle pace. Concierge service is non existent, they are worried about commissions apparently, terrible recommendations. Bring a backpack if you want to stay there, that is all you can fit in a standard room. Ridiculous hotel concept and cheesy decor.

Pros: The rooms are cool and dark and surprisingly quiet if nobody is in the hallway. The staff were doing their best, but dealing with a difficult set up. So on that front, I really want to be as positive as possible. I get this is a really difficult time. There is literally nothing else positive to say about this hotel
Cons: It is the middle of a pandemic, the first room we went into had dirty tissues on the bed and half the pillows missing. They did their best but took half an hour to find an alternative (using the last remaining minutes that anything was open in the area to get dinner). They haven't spent a cent on this hotel in the 11 years since we last stayed there - it was so rundown and awful that with the additional aspects of covid (temperature checks etc..) it was a quite dystopian experience. With holes kicked in the doors and walls, the stench of smoke everywhere, the once famed escalator closed and dusty, entrance through the loading dock, questioning at the security guards office and dark and closed off retail areas Stanely Kubrik couldn't have created a more realistic nightmare. Truly awful and memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Cons: rooms are very small, unlike the pictures posted on the website. no wall between bathroom and bed: not very glam when one needs to do Nr 2... no room service. no mini-bar. we received our missing luggage from our airline company the morning after our 1st night stay and no one from security informed us about it. as a result, we lost 2 more days chasing after our luggage. we really feel that customer service is not up to the level of premiumness that the hotel is striving for. it is one thing to be a good trendy night club but a different one to play in the top league. there is still a long way to go...

Cons: For a four star hotel, I would have expected at least a coffee machine in the room. I booked a king bed room, the door didn't work to get inside the room, so they said they didn't have any others available and had to downgrade me to a queen room. In the new room, the heater was soo loud, and sounded like there was some rodent trying to get inside. I called them to get them to either fix it or change my room again. someone came and said they fixed it, but it was exactly the same. was there for 3 nights and had horrible sleeps cause of the loud noise. Seeing as the room was small as well, the only real place to sit was on the bed, so the mattress was droopy in the one spot where you sit making it uncomfortable.

Cons: Front desk staff - apart from one individual, staff were like zombies going through only the essentials. To be fair this may be a volume issue as the front desk is very busy and the staff have to manage languages from all over the world, which I will admit is no easy job. This creates delays in the check in process creating impatient (and rude customers). I will say they did handle the whining of people checking in with professionalism.
Suggested solution - investigate peak period scheduling for front desk, specifically selecting staff with multiple languages

Cons: It was my fault for making the reservation under my name, but we realized this the day before. I called and they added my husband name, no problem. Well when my husband arrived they told him I had to be there ( I was flying in later that night), so I call and they say his name is in the reservation and they don’t know why he can’t check in. I ask to speak to the front desk. 3 HOURS and multiple calls and multiple run arounds, still not talking to to the front desk; a person at the call center tells me he checked already! I talk to my husband who nis sitting on a bench inside with my two daughters sleeping in his lap. I tell him to try and check in, they check him in. A breakdown in communication led to a rough start.

Cons: Hotel is in desperate need of a Makeover. Missing grout in the bathroom, yellowing bathtub with soft spots, faucets missing screws and a thermostat that only knows "very warm", despite seeing it to 65 degrees (18C), no fan in the bathroom, are just a few of the issues.
The parking garage under the Hotel is operated by a different company and is a disaster, both pulling in and especially when leaving. It took over an hour to get our car back, once ordered. Wr were told by others that this was common there.

Cons: We booked our stay online (as I’m sure most do). This was our first stay at The Manhattan but not our first visit to NYC. The website pictures advertised updated, modern facilities, which was true of the lobby. However, once you get off the elevator, you realize the rest of the hotel (minus one floor apparently) has not ever been renovated. Upon walking into our room, we notice that the wallpaper and paint are peeling, the furniture is chipped, the bathroom is covered in pale pink tile and includes a fluorescent light box is not even bright enough to put your makeup on. After placing a call to the front desk, we realize this is typical of a “standard” room. The modern and updated pictures on the website actually reflect the “executive” room. We upgraded as soon as a room was available, and the facilities were much more consistent with what we expected. However, we had to then deal with the thermostat being defective, so our stay didn’t brighten up that much. We will not be staying here again.

The only reason I didn’t complain about it was because we had adjoining rooms with the rest of our family & we wanted to be together. Also, the room is in need of updating especially the bathroom. The water in bathroom didn’t drain properly either. As well as the hallways on the other floors. It seems as if the only update was done in the main floor lobby because once you take the elevator up and the doors open it’s like you’re in a motel. The rest of the hotel is dingy & dirty. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and I could not get comfortable with springs stabbing my back all night.

Pros: They did switch my room when the first was disgusting. The manager at the desk was very nice.
Just pay the extra money and take a renovated room. The renovated room was a typical nyc hotel where I felt safe and comfortable.

Pros: Location was good, not a superior room. Hotel offered a 30% dicount we paid over $200 a night not happy about paying the higher price. Told that I could not get the discount as I had booked through Booking.com Do they have any superior rooms as booked?

Just pay the extra money and take a renovated room. The renovated room was a typical nyc hotel where I felt safe and comfortable.
Cons: I originally did not choose to stay in a renovated room,thinking that it was only for a night and I’d really only be sleeping in the room. But the “classic” room I was given was beyond disgusting and unsanitary- stained sheets, old carpet, the window was left open and held up by the drain stopper from the bathroom sink. There was no shower curtain and when I asked the attendant in the hall for one she handed it to me and had me put it up. Debris and mold could be seen in the a/c vent. There were unknown marks on the carpet.
The valet insisted on a tip before taking my car. The bell captain was rude.

Cons: The entire hotel is quite dated, and there were very few amenities in the room (no hair dryer or robe, just shampoo and soap). Check-in took 45+ minutes even at 11 pm.

Cons: Less bed bugs would be nice, less flies flying around, maybe vacuum once in a while. The place smelled like a corpse died in there. Black mold in the showers, and hardly any AC. Called 3 times no one came to fix. I tried to get a refund from PRICELINE.com which is another horrible site, charged and 85 fee for a 65 dollar room, and gave no refund for the appalling conditions we had to stay in. I will never use priceline again

Cons: Cleaning. the carpet showed that it was several years old without being washed. In the shower, the bathroom tiles were dirty with mold, you could tell he had a long time without being thoroughly washed. On the false right, there was a hole covered with a rag or something that looked like a sock. The beds creaked a lot. I cannot understand a hotel with such demand has rooms that not a one-star hotel has.

I have pictures of each of theses. I have used kayak before and stayed at the Penn. I was greatly disappointed. Staff were non responsive, we finally got towels, pillow covers and a new lamp, after we got a supervisor involved.
