Pros: I was looking for a hotel in NYC within walking distance of the Lower East Side, and found this. It was one of the cheapest hotels that met that criterion, at $250 per night (not including tax, which brought it up to $290).
The room was sufficiently large to be comfortable to move around in, and the bed was firm (which I like). Everything was clean enough.
There is free internet and it's fast enough to use it for work.
The person who checked me in was friendly and had been nice on the phone when I called to say I'd be checking in late. The person who checked me out was fine, but less friendly. I can't criticize the staff, though - they were fine.

Cons: There is nothing in the hotel to enjoy. No lobby to sit in (i.e., there's the front desk and maybe a chair or two, but that's it), no exercise room as far as I can tell, no restaurant, nothing. And no coffee served in the morning, so you can use the coffee machine in the room (which I never do - no fresh milk for coffee makes it unpalatable) or you can walk for a mile to get somewhere to get coffee. So if you get up early (as I did, coming from France I was on a different time schedule), it's really kind of disappointing and difficult.
While it was clean, the price wasn't low enough for me to consider it again. I'd rather pay an extra $50 per night and have a better location and overall better hotel facilities. (I might even be willing to pay $100 more for that - it was really that unpleasant.)

Cons: The hotel literally stinks. The room smelled so bad like regurgitated curry that we asked to switch. The second room smelled as well but not as bad, only in the bathroom. I think it must be the smell in the sewer pipes or something. Had to leave the bathroom door closed the entire trip so our clothes didn't smell like sewage.

Cons: My one major complaint was the inability to control the thermostat. There was no cool feature on the thermostat, only heat, and the staff for some reason couldn't explain this to me. I was simply told it would get cooler as the temperature went down. So during the day when it was almost 80 degrees outside, it was almost 80 degrees in our room as well. We were only able to cool the room off at night by opening our window. Also, even though I told the staff several times before my stay (I made my reservation about a month ahead of time) that I would be coming in at 6am I was still unable to get in my room until 1pm. So after riding a bus for 7 miserable hours my wife and I had to walk around NYC for another 7 hours, wearing the same clothes from the day before and with no sleep or showers.

Pros: The location was nice. Easy access to Subway and walkable to China Town and Little Italy. The price was affordable for staying in Manhattan. The hotel provided towels, shampoo, travel tooth brush and tooth paste. The bathrooms are shared but generally we didmt have to wait long for an opening. Also they are spacious and cleaned daily. This is a decent place if you are traveling alone and just looking for a cheap please to sleep.

Pros: It wasn't that bad. Don't expect the Ritz, its a hostel. They cleaned it everyday and there weren't bugs. It's a small room, but it's a single. It is loud and bright but earplugs and eyemask worked fine. They keep the windows open so it can get drafty but keeps it from getting too smelly. There are shared bathrooms but aside from early in morning it was never a problem. And there is NO elevator so your legs get a workout. But staff was great, at $44 a night for 5 nights there's not a cheaper way to stay in Manhattan, you're in heart of Chinatown and Little Italy, lots of culture and super cheap shopping. I'd stay there again.

Cons: Gross bathrooms with collapsing ceilings, loud and dumb neighbors, too bright to sleep, if the A/C goes out you'll basically suffocate.

Cons: The room was very small (6'x9'). The mattress springs were squeaky and uncomfortable. There sheets and comforter were stained. Only on of the outlets worked. The room had a small fan but NO WINDOW and very little room to move around as the double bed took up most of the space. All that said our biggest complaint was the noise. There is no sound insulation. We were in a room in the middle of the hallway and we could hear talking from adjacent rooms, all of the movement in the hallway, doors opening and closing and even street noise (sirens, large trucks). If you are a light sleeper this is definitely not the place for you.

Cons: This place was just bad. Bed beds. Public washroom. No tv. No windows. Rude staff. Dirty. Do not book a room here unless it's your last choice and you're totally broke. I could have pocketed the cash and gotten better sleep in my car and cleaner with a packet of baby wipes. The staff was so rude I think they may have been on work release from jail. I didn't even want to shower it was so gross. I think the rest of the hotel guests may have been on meth they seemed content. For $100.00 bucks it was not money well spent. STAY AWAY.

No refrigerator or coffee meant we were unable to keep extra food from supper and wait for breakfast for coffee.

Pros: Cheapest place in the city! Especially if you are coming to New York to be out on the town, not stuck in a hotel room!
Cons: You definitely get what you pay for: 5 story walk up with no elevator can leave you winded, especially with luggage. Rooms so tiny that you cannot open the door because the bed is in the way. 2 bathrooms on a floor with 15+ rooms that could hold 2 people each? You do the math, but no matter how you cut it = long bathroom wait times. Also, bathroom cleanliness is nonexistent. When I finally got in, the floor was soaked, the toilet wouldn't flush, and it was full of someone's vomit! Uuugh! Also, I was eaten alive by some sort of insects...my arms, legs, face...I don't know if they are bed bugs, fleas, mosquitoes? Something that left me covered in itchy wealts. So, the place is a steal for the location and price...just know what you are getting yourself into!
