10.0 Wonderful
A good value. Rooms could benefit from an upgrade, but still okay
R
2.0 Poor
I will never go there again ! Noisy, VERY NOISY ! Bring very goor ear plugs if you want to TRY to sleep in the night! With the aircon ON is like having an airplane engine in the room. Turning off the aircon , the fan continue to make noise. Then if you unplug the aircon (as I did) you will surprisingly continue to ear the 'airplane like noise' ! In fact the windows are is so bad condition that you will ear the aircons noise of the other rooms so strong as it was in your room! Asking the other colleagues sleeping in the same hotel, they reported the same issue! In addition the room is very small and the bathroom so old that either if it's one block from Central park, it's really a bad hotel ! They should renew it now because it seems that during the last 30 years NOTHING HAS BEEN renewed !

8.0 Very Good
Excellent location and housekeeping. AC worked but didn’t get cold enough to be comfortable. Nice rooftop area with one-lane covered pool. Room was in need of updates and view was of another rooftop and building—no visible sky etc. Restaurant inside hotel is closed. Very friendly staff. Biggest plus for me was the location—right across from Lincoln Center.

Pros:location
Cons:there was literal brown water coming from both the sink and shower

8.5 Very Good
Pros:Location! Nice room and comfortable bed.
Cons:The A/C unit was unbearably loud. No street noise just the A/C. Had to sleep with ear plugs. No way to turn it lower or off w/o unplugging. It’s my only complaint.

7.1 Good
Pros:The hotel was fine. Bed was comfortable. Close to two subway stations. Lobby is beautiful and so is the rooftop bar although it is the most expensive bar I have ever been to.
Cons:We paid beforehand, and while checking in they said: "it looks like you're all paid for, so we just need a card for incidents." When we checked out they said, "It will just be $20 for a resident fee"... Hmm... wasn't that what the $160 nightly fee was for? Where has transparency gone? What in god's name is a resident fee? Sounds like something they just make up to get more money out of you which is most likely exactly what it is. I absolutely cannot stand when hotels do this and I have never understood the reason behind not being upfront about costs. We left pretty pissed about that. Also, there was no coffee in the room which is the first time I've ever been to a hotel without coffee in the room. Even the Days Inn has coffee in the room.

10.0 Wonderful
Pros:They staff was outstanding helpful, when we needed any help ! We will definitely stay there again, if we have to be in the area
A
6.0 Okay
Pros:The location was great and the staff was very friendly.
Cons:The paint on the bathroom door was peeling. The AC was not working and was a huge wet puddle. Plus they charged us extra $30/night for a room with 2 beds even know I booked a 1-2 bed room on Kayak.
J
4.8 Mediocre
Pros:Location is ideal. That’s about it.
Cons:This is my second stay at the empire. I decided to come back because of the location and to give them a second chance, but I won’t be staying there again unless they train their employees to be hoapitable and clean up their rooms. One super annoying issue is they don’t have ice machines on each floor. You have to have housekeeping deliver it. The first time I stayed there, in March 2018, I called down for ice and after about 30 minutes without the delivery I called again. They never brought it. This stay, June 2018, I called for ice and after 45 minutes of waiting I called again. 30 minutes later I called again after no delivery and the front desk guy seemed frustrated and put me on hold. After about another 20 minutes, housekeeping knocked on my door. When I opened it, the delivery man asked me “Didn’t I already deliver ice to you?” First of all, no you didn’t! And second of all, this is your job and if I asked for two buckets of ice, I shouldn’t be getting attitude for it. The rooms are run down and need to be updated. Cleaned up here and there. There were multiple times where I’d call the front desk and the phone would just ring and ring. Sometimes no answer or sometimes someone would pick up after 10+ rings. This is a hotel! In NYC! Get some more staff! Train them on how to treat guests. Follow in the footsteps of the hospitality giants and get it right!
