Pros: Loved our deluxe suite room that had sliding doors which kept each room very quiet even when watching tv with the volume turned up in one room. The push button controls were really cool for the lights and privacy settings. Enjoyed the free breakfast at Atrio and the friendly service from everyone there especially the host. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and were able to accommodate a late checkout of 2pm for us. Appreciated the unique designs and architecture of the hotel. Liked that it was located right next to the World Trade Center, and of course Shake Shack. Liked using the exercise room and business center which were very clean and well maintained. Overall it was a very relaxing and pleasant stay.

Cons: There are few negatives to the Roxy, honestly. Location is good, but not great- safety was not a concern. Just don't expect to walk out the door and be somewhere, you'll need to hop the train or a cab. The space is comfortable, but the pillows (like most hotels') were worthless.

HIGHLY recommend - I've stayed at both the Thompson Smyth Tribeca and the SIXTY LES (when it was under Thompson management) and this was by leaps and bounds the best.

A staircase surrounded by old books, leather seats, and an inviting chess set adorn the hall adjacent to a wine bar we were glad not to miss. The gold elevators requiring a room key to access brought us to our room. The bed was so comfortable, the room had a refreshing old school/hipster vibe. It has all the amenities you would expect from a great hotel and ten times the style. The location allowed us to hop on any subway we wanted and surrounded us with several landmarks and restaurants. We'll be comparing other hotels to this one from now on. The maids were even really nice to us. We loved staying in New York and even loved sitting back with a glass of wine in our room.

Cons: The hotel was a bit hard to find despite having a GPS. Not really, the hotels fault, I guess. The bathroom wall was made of a transluscent mosaic panel, which did not offer much privacy. Ended up doing our business with the bathroom lights off most of the time. While this may not be an issue for some, with 4 adults in the room it was definitely a bit awkward at times.

I stopped by the hotel and asked a person at the front if I could go up to just see a room, and he said it was no problem and let me have a look. A lot of the pictures on this website are of the King Deluxe room, but the King Standard room still looked really nice (just a little smaller). After I booked the room, I went to check-in and told the person at the front that it was a birthday present. As a favor, she said that she would upgrade me for free, since it was for a birthday! I thought that was an extremely nice thing to do, since they had unfilled Deluxe rooms anyways. That was awesome and I really appreciated it, got to stay in the huge Deluxe room for a really cheap price!

Pros: The staff was exceptionally helpful and nice-- I booked a room as a birthday surprise, but before I booked I wanted to see the room in person to make sure it looked as good as the pictures. I stopped by the hotel and asked a person at the front if I could go up to just see a room, and he said it was no problem and let me have a look. A lot of the pictures on this website are of the King Deluxe room, but the King Standard room still looked really nice (just a little smaller). After I booked the room, I went to check-in and told the person at the front that it was a birthday present. As a favor, she said that she would upgrade me for free, since it was for a birthday! I thought that was an extremely nice thing to do, since they had unfilled Deluxe rooms anyways. That was awesome and I really appreciated it, got to stay in the huge Deluxe room for a really cheap price!
Cons: Would have been nice if we were able to make dinner reservations at Bar Seven Five, but you are only able to make breakfast/lunch reservations at Wall & Water.

Pros: Stayed at the Andaz for one night bc of the location and price. It far exceeded our expectations - the room was immaculate, roomy and nicely decorated. We also felt like we had more amenities than other hotels for the price and the staff was great. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Pros: I loved the location and the feel of the hotel. Very classy and clean. The front lobby is beautiful and the staff are great! I would come again for this price.
Cons: - The walls are thin and we were woken up by the children in the next room screaming and playing at 5am...I'm sure they could hear us stumbling in from the clubs at 3am as well.
- The beds were uncomfortably firm, but we asked for foam pillows from the front desk, which made a huge difference!!!
- The lighting in the bathroom and dressing area is TERRIBLE. But there are no mirrors in the bedroom, where the light is good. It makes no sense.

Pros: Nice spacious rooms, very very nice staff, very small dog friendly, very well maintained all around. Also great location to stay in nyc because it's close to the metro/buses and at night there isn't so much noise as compared to midtown or uptown.
Cons: Since we went in winter there was only heat available in the room. So to cool the room I had to open a window. These windows are quite massive and if I were a drunk person or not in the right state of mind, I have no doubt someone could fall to their death. I think this is a definite safety issue the hotel should really look into. At the very least maybe put in stoppers that only allow one to crack the window and not fully open.

Pros: Through Kayak we were fortunate to get a good deal on the price of the Andaz. It is a beautiful hotel in a good location. While it is quite south of most of the activity in Manhattan, it's an easy subway ride to the activities north of the hotel.

Pros: My clean, spacious room was a "large King" that I had been upgraded into. It felt more like a studio apartment than a hotel room. I loved the free mini bar and couldn't get over how friendly and helpful the staff was. The Andaz Hotel staff has nailed charming professionalism.
Cons: I tried to watch a bit of TV one night and the cable was cutting in and out. Also, I had to request more snacks and beverages vs an automatic replenishment.

Pros: Every Associate we encountered was excellent; very warm, helpful and accommodating. Our 10th floor room was cozily decorated in darker tones and neutral accents. The furnishings were appealing, well built, and fitted to the room with adequate room to maneuver throughout. The bed was extremely comfortable and we left it each morning feeling rested and recharged. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in while traveling. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and was supplied as expected for this level of Accommodation. (I have managed hotels and know first hand that, even the appearance of clean, is impossible on white porcelain and ceramic tile. Exterior noise from inside the building went mostly unnoticed; city noise was acceptable without the a/c fan running but we set it to blow continuously and the city outside mostly faded away (A/C blew worked excellent). Amenities are as advertised; the lounge atmosphere and appearance brings to mind an image of a1920's / 30's sitting parlour - comfortable, elegant, and well suited for drinks, work, meeting a coworkers or friends. On the weekend we stayed, the lounge was fused with music of the runway, the city and SoHo. It was an excellent kickoff for our evening with friends. The location could not have been better for us; subway - entrance on same block; restaurants - all around; cabs - always;

Cons: Shower curtain smelled moldy. To be a dog friendly hotel, the dog bed provided was dirty, it stunk, had cigarette burns and ultimately, my dog refused to use it. The bell hops were very snobby and unfriendly.

Cons: Unfortunately the state of our room was a little disappointing. We did check in early so it's possible they rushed to clean it. Our room was a roasting 78 degrees when we got there and the thermostat was clearly set to 80. The window barely opened so it did not provide much relief and switching over to AC only helped cool the room by the next morning. It was HOT and dry!!! Second disappointing thing was the used toilet paper still in the toilet. I also was challenged in my ability to flush it away, so I can see how it got left behind. Third thing was the random hair pins I kept finding throughout the room...

The Following Falls Under "...if that's all he can complain about...." (these were the only negatives I could remember; most likely because they were encountered repeatedly) :
The drawer-pull's on the main chest of drawers were very difficult to get a hold of. If I had long nails, or carried traditional keys, I could have hooked these without a problem; alas, neither is the case.
Although the stairs were our preferred method of "up and down"; we found it challenging to get from our floor (10th), to our friends floor (7th), via the elevator. The pass key security system didn't seem to allow exit onto a floor other than our own.

Cons: The desk and chair in the room were uncomfortable. I spent the majority of my waking time in the room there on a business trip. That and there's no other space in the hotel to sit quietly. The downstairs lounge is not really a sit and linger sort of space. Plus at night the downstairs lounge and bar become a nightclub with DJ. Which is great for pleasure travelers, but is a pain for business traveling. Would stay again for fun, but not for business.

Room service food, particularly breakfast, isn't really that good, which forced us to start going out for breakfast ( 3 out of 5 stars). However no worries because it's NYC so there is plenty of food around.
Location isn't the greatest, but it's close enough ( 4 out of 5 starts). The 9/11 memorial is right across the street, which is convenient, but other than that, you'll generally be taxiing or ubering everywhere.
My boyfriend forgot his keys and didn't realize until we were back in DC. The great news is that the housekeeper did turn in the keys, but the guy in the list and find area was being a dick, asking him the most ridiculous questions... We still haven't received the keys either. Hopefully they actually send them.

The gym was nice although a little small and there is an indoor pool that I would've loved to use but I forgot my swim suit. Cons: The bathrooms in the lobby are disgusting. If you're having a drink down there you have to constantly go up to your room to use the restroom since the others are so dirty and smell like urine. The concierge was not helpful. When asking for recommendations to restaurants, he would only direct us to their restaurant in the 3rd floor. Also asked him about the Book of Mormon show, he called and tickets were over 325 ea. We had to talk to other a couple others in the hotel who gave us recommendations and we got tickets for a little over 130 ea. Seems lazy or completely unaware - probably shouldn't be the concierge.

The gym was nice although a little small and there is an indoor pool that I would've loved to use but I forgot my swim suit. Cons: The room we had was right by a garbage disposal or ice machine so every so often we'd hear it go off. Very distracting and unpleasant.
The room seemed smaller than it is because the ceilings are outrageously tall.
The bathroom looks like the designer took a page out of the YMCA men's domicile for inspiration - cheap tile, crappy shower, meh.
The windows haven't been washed in what I can only assume is eons so even if the view were breathtaking (it wasn't) you wouldn't be able to see it properly.

Cons: What I most disliked was the set-up with the television. It is absolutely standard these days --even at a motel 6 -- to have a large number of cable tv stations available with at least some of the more common movie channels. There was none of that. Also, one would expect a large movies-on-demand set-up on the television and that too was missing. 2) my in-house phone did not work, and so to communicate with the front desk, I had to go down by elevator; 3) it was difficult to catch a cab in this part of wall street, and there was no way of doing so, according to the staff, except to walk 2 or 3 blocks and hope for the best. The hotel should have a better arrangement when it comes to cabs; 4) the bed was fine, but the only cover/comforter doubled as a bed-spread, which meant one had to sleep with the bed-spread, which I find off-putting -- potentially unclean.

Pros: This is a newer hotel with friendly staff and large, clean rooms. The problem I encountered here were several odd features that made it very difficult to sleep; namely, 1- they dont have full curtains on the windows- only a thin gauze-like drape that allows all the lights from outside to stream into the windows all night. Unfortunately, I had several giant lights aimed almost directly into my 2nd floor room the entire night and I had to sleep with my back facing the window the whole night. And 2- their heater is a hot air fan that is practically as loud as a plane engine- even at the "low" setting. I was forced to turn off the heater and woke up freezing under the thin blankets. That said, the location is good, and it is attached to a decent pizza bar/restaurant and next to several subway lines. If I went here again, I'd bring an eye cover and extra blanket.

Also was able to upgrade to a king bed since my boyfriend came down with me last minute. Staff was super accommodating. Close to 1/2/3 and C/E trains, as well as a couple blocks from 6/N/R/Q/W trains, so it was easy to get around to east or west side.
I'm a light sleeper and find these rooms to be on the quieter side (we were facing the back of hotel, which faces downtown).

Cons: This hotel has an attitude of over pricing everything, adding on fees including tips (that frankly aren't deserved) and having a staff that doesn't do much. When I checked out the man at the desk was flat out lying to the woman he had on the phone and when he hung up I said "Well she's going to be disappointed" and he smiled and laughed. That's what you're going to get here.

Cons: The "Deluxe" king room was anything but Deluxe. The bed had drawers sticking out past the mattress by 5+ inches and had very sharp edges.
Within 2 minutes of trying to go to the other side of the bed, the sharp edge ripped through my sweats and punctured my calf.
With blood running down my leg, the manager said they couldn't comp me any food or hotel amenities just because I "bumped" into something.

Outside of the rooms, I was on the fourth floor, there's no air conditioning and it's all torn up in the hallways on the way to the elevator. The room was very basic. I would never stay here again.

Cons: The sanitation conditions of this hotel are deplorable. I found pubic hairs all over the bathroom (fixtures, floor, walls), the hardwood floor was sticky, and the walls themselves we're in very poor repair - covered in marks scratches, gashes, etc. I brought this information to the front desk and was put in a "suite" which is a room with identical conditions, but a separate kitchen space. I had one short-and-curly at eye level in my shower - which remained plainly and visibly stuck to the wall for the 4 day duration of my stay. The toilet stopped flushing on my first day. The floors are pitched and uneven, the elevator is barely functional. The corridors do not pass ADA standards. The room doors look like they were salvaged from several other buildings and don't work properly - my room door had to be pulled shut whenever I left the room. All in all I have to say this was one of the worst hotel stays I've had. I've stayed in crappy motels that weren't much better (still better) but there, I know what I was getting into and was paying an appropriate price for the level of facility. I feel that the descriptions for this hotel are misleading and deceptive, and I would never stay in this hotel again - ever.

Cons: At first glance, the room looked amazing! The modern amenities and style were welcoming, but when I looked a little deeper it was hard to ignore the fact that the wear and tear of the room was taking its toll.
The wood around the sink was badly warped. The sink didn't drain properly. The floor was cheap. The faux-wood laminate was warped and felt greasy under my feet.

Cons: There isn't anything that would keep us from rebooking this hotel. The shower was great EXCEPT-- the tile lip and the shower curtain were barely enough to keep from flooding the floor. After time that is going to be a problem. We had a few puddles form from not being diligent with the direction of the shower head. Also there is not an overhead light. Again- not a deal breaker, but at times it was a dark room.

Pros: On this trip I just needed a bed to sleep on, and a shower & toilet to use, and Hotel 91 definitely met those needs. While not the fanciest of places, or the most elegant decor, but the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was quite comfortable, and the plumbing was all in good working order. Hotel 91 is less than 5 minutes from a subway station (and be sure to get coffee at the "12 corners" coffee shop on the way.)
All in all, Hotel 91 was exactly what we needed: an inexpensive but comfortable place to recharge as we explored NYC.
Cons: The neighborhood is not very central, so it is ideal if you are looking to have a place to sleep and leave your bags as you are visiting the city. Don't plan to come back to your room and change before dinner, though.

Pros: Best location middle of Chinatown so I had access to restaurants in minutes of walk. Cab fare to 34th street wasn't to bad since the close distance.
Cons: The sound from the train right outside of my room, but that's all big city are like. We are young so we adjusted to the noise after the first night.

Pros: On this trip I just needed a bed to sleep on, and a shower & toilet to use, and Hotel 91 definitely met those needs. While not the fanciest of places, or the most elegant decor, but the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was quite comfortable, and the plumbing was all in good working order. The room and public areas were all clean, too.
Cons: The hot water took a little long to get hot, but I also blame that on the weather - had it not been ~5 - 10 degrees outside, I wouldn't have been as desperate for a properly hot shower. The room door also felt a bit flimsy, but it kept the sound and cold out so that's more of a "feeling" thing than an actual complaint.

Cons: Wifi was spotty at best. Several times I needed to go to the reception desk and ask them to reset it. Sometimes they told me to just use it in the lobby. One evening, the desk clerk told me to wait until morning. When I said that two other desk clerks had reset the wifi on previous days he rudely expressed skepticism and demanded their names. When I obviously did not have their names he demanded precise descriptions of them. Even for New York, the Kayak-discounted price of this hotel was far too high for the value received. I have stayed in New York many times and will never stay at Hotel 91 again.

Cons: The rooms do not have a roof, just because the owners think they are smart by selling you "privacy" but really all they do is set wood boards between beds, so you book a room and get a 60 bed room, noisy, smelly and the bathrooms are the worst I have seen in NY, had to change hotels but lost all money because it was non refundable of course.

Cons: I'm no picky guy, but it's definitely an experience to sleep in a room that is 21 square feet ( 6' by 3.5' ).
It's always a question of the 'bang for the buck', and I'd rather pay $90 on groupon for 100+ square feet with my own space rather than $50 for 21 square feet.

Pros: The location was nice. Easy access to Subway and walkable to China Town and Little Italy. The price was affordable for staying in Manhattan. The hotel provided towels, shampoo, travel tooth brush and tooth paste. The bathrooms are shared but generally we didmt have to wait long for an opening. Also they are spacious and cleaned daily. This is a decent place if you are traveling alone and just looking for a cheap please to sleep.

Pros: It wasn't that bad. Don't expect the Ritz, its a hostel. They cleaned it everyday and there weren't bugs. It's a small room, but it's a single. It is loud and bright but earplugs and eyemask worked fine. They keep the windows open so it can get drafty but keeps it from getting too smelly. There are shared bathrooms but aside from early in morning it was never a problem. And there is NO elevator so your legs get a workout. But staff was great, at $44 a night for 5 nights there's not a cheaper way to stay in Manhattan, you're in heart of Chinatown and Little Italy, lots of culture and super cheap shopping. I'd stay there again.

Cons: The room was very small (6'x9'). The mattress springs were squeaky and uncomfortable. There sheets and comforter were stained. Only on of the outlets worked. The room had a small fan but NO WINDOW and very little room to move around as the double bed took up most of the space. All that said our biggest complaint was the noise. There is no sound insulation. We were in a room in the middle of the hallway and we could hear talking from adjacent rooms, all of the movement in the hallway, doors opening and closing and even street noise (sirens, large trucks). If you are a light sleeper this is definitely not the place for you.

I could have pocketed the cash and gotten better sleep in my car and cleaner with a packet of baby wipes. The staff was so rude I think they may have been on work release from jail. I didn't even want to shower it was so gross. I think the rest of the hotel guests may have been on meth they seemed content. For $100.00 bucks it was not money well spent. STAY AWAY.

Cons: The sheets were stained, which I later found out was because bed bugs leave behind blood from their bites and their excrement. My last morning there, I found a bed bug crawling across the sheets. I killed it with my finger nail and it spurted blood all over! Gross! Now I am riddled with bites on my arms, legs, feet, and ears. The bathrooms are cleaned once a day, meaning after the first few uses in the morning, they are filthy; the showers leak onto the floor and get everything wet. The room barely fits the bed you are in. I found hair on my blankets. The walls are literally painted-over plywood, so there is no privacy and you can hear everything in the hall. The wifi - the whole reason I went with this place - never worked at all, and the staff was completely unapologetic about it. They should be shut down. I can't believe this place has an "OK" rating. It's a ripoff. And now I'm afraid I've spread bedbugs to my own bed at home.

As soon as i walked through the door i was offered to buy drugs in the hallway. The upstairs which i thought was a aingle room is back to back closets with a wooden plank and a dirty bug ridden mattress.

Cons: You definitely get what you pay for: 5 story walk up with no elevator can leave you winded, especially with luggage. Rooms so tiny that you cannot open the door because the bed is in the way. 2 bathrooms on a floor with 15+ rooms that could hold 2 people each? You do the math, but no matter how you cut it = long bathroom wait times. Also, bathroom cleanliness is nonexistent. When I finally got in, the floor was soaked, the toilet wouldn't flush, and it was full of someone's vomit! Uuugh! Also, I was eaten alive by some sort of insects...my arms, legs, face...I don't know if they are bed bugs, fleas, mosquitoes? Something that left me covered in itchy wealts. So, the place is a steal for the location and price...just know what you are getting yourself into!
