The Fizpatrick is very conveniently located, you walk less than a minute to enter GST and from there you can go wherever you want. The hotel is neat, proper, rooms are bigger than the usual Manhattan standard. Staff is kind and professional, attentive to customers needs. And the complementary access to the fitness center is a huge bonus. Highly recommended!

Cons: It was advertised beforehand (so it wasn’t a nasty surprise) but the fact that WiFi costs $15 per day is pretty woeful. Also, the facilities in the gym are not on-site and the pool/sauna/steam room were out of use during my stay. Can’t blame the hotel for that but the fact that it’s out of their control could be worth keeping in mind.

Cons: Drab and dark rooms, beyond just the usual blah. No character because the promised Irish charm is lost in a fog of mediocrity. Room might as well have had no windows -- the one tiny window looked into the wall of another building. This all made the small room feel even smaller. Worn mattress, soft and lumpy. Stained carpet. Tiles on bathroom floor were chipped in many places. Could not set clock to correct time (housekeeping should do this). This is an ultra low budget hotel on quality and upkeep, but not on price. I will try something else for my next trip to NYC.

Cons: The hotel, even on the 16th floor where our room was located, is very noisy- there should be double pain windows-- this is quite customary in lots of noisy cities and nice NYC apartments have these. The bathroom sink did not drain properly. The A/C fan was incredibly loud. On the plus side this helped block the street noise. There was no cheese or crackers or fruit etc with the included wine hour-- and no option to purchase food where the wine was served. Can't drink on an empty stomach. The bathroom amenities were sorely lacking-- no shower cap, no cotton balls or q-tips, no emory board. And most of all, no robes. There was a 10 dollar a day included allotment for shopping in the cupboard-- would have rather applied this to the room fees. We don't really need water for near 9 dollars. LOL NYC tap water is amongst the best in the world. We asked for a slightly late check out-- we just wanted one extra hour-- we could "maybe" get it, but there would be a charge. No other fine hotels do this-- as long as the hotel is not sold out, they usually will do you the curtesy. We went to breakfast and had the bellman hold our luggage, because we weren't sure if we'd make the noon deadline or not, but when we came back it was BEFORE noon and our room was already cleaned. So we used the bathroom, wiped the sink and counter down and dropped off the towel in the hallway so the maid (who'd just gone into another room and closed the door), would find it when she came out. Should have waited till after noon to clean our room.

Cons: well it was a number of things really, i booked a transfer from airport to hotel and was told by hilton staff that someone would be waiting for us at the airport. NO ONE WAS!!! Then when we got into our room we noticed the beds where very small so took this to the staff and was told there is nothing they can do and maybe we should just get some pillows and a blanket and sleep on the floor!!! Cons: The property was great, however, I do not like the "bait and switch" approach the hotel takes regarding total cost of the room. The original total price listed when I reserved it was $181.00--very reasonable. Only upon arrival at the hotel I discovered a $44 "resort fee" added and some other taxes bringing the grand total to $264.00---a considerable difference and unhappy surprise when I arrived. I suggest the hotel lists the Total Price at the point you reserve!

Cons: Where to begin. I reserved 3 rooms, and two of my reservations were not honored and we were downgraded. Furthermore, we had one room that had a broken air conditioner, that after 3 requests for repair was not fixed. We slept without air conditioner in August in NYC for two nights... in a room that never got cleaned. I have never been more disrespected by any hotel staff that I was by this places “manager” Solomon (spelling?) After promising to remove the facilities fee from my bill for the poor service/broken air conditioner, he went back on his word when I was checking out and handling the bill. It also came to my attention that in my sister’s room, there were fingernails / toe nails in the shower and sink. Also - Appliances (lamps, phone, ice machine , tv remotes) did not work / were not plugged in, and I left precise instructions at the front desk receptionist to have Solomon call me on my cell when he returned to work so we could handle my issues with the rooms promptly (while I was off premises), He never called, and but was lucky he was working when I returned to the hotel towards the end of his shift close to Midnight. I tried to calmly express my concerns, and he kept trying to increase my bill - saying that he did not have justification for providing me a discount or removing the facilities fee (which he had agreed to to when he first downgraded 2/3 rooms). Not a man of his word. After I had had enough of his sleezy tactics to rip me off & countless failures to to adhere to my reasonable service requests, I had to literally leave and let my sister handle things because I was so enraged. I’m normally a calm person, have worked in the hotel industry, and have never felt compelled to fight hotel staff (or any service industry staff for that matter) - but this man’s negative attitude, consistent interruption, and complete lack of respect drove me mad The rest of the staff is fine, and I eventually got a discount, but not enough.

Pros: For New York this is a reasonably priced budget hotel. We needed a twin room but these are few and far between in the city so we opted for a room with bunk beds. Beds are comfortable, each with its own light, 2 USB ports, 2 sockets and TV. The room also has a table, phone and washbasin. Shared bathroom but these are kept clean; 4 bathrooms for around 14 rooms, and we found there was always at least one free when needed. Towels, tissues and soap provided in room. Dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body lotion in bathrooms. Indicator lights within the room show which ones are in use. Ventilation system as well as air conditioning. Check-in and check-out straightforward, and facility to leave luggage securely free of charge. Efficient lifts. Excellent location in the central area of Manhattan. Easy to walk to major sights such as the Rockefeller Center, Museum of Modern Art, NY Public Library, Times Square, Empire State Building, and southern part of Central Park. Easy access to the subway for travelling to other areas of the city, and for the E line to JFK airport. Plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Main shopping avenues only a few blocks away. Roof terrace with seating an added bonus. Food and drinks can be purchased on site but we didn't do this so can't comment on quality.

I had booked this Hyatt a couple of months ago but suddenly had to cancel. They allowed me to cancel with no penalty. I beyond appreciated that and decided I will rebook there in future. A great choice! Oh! And do book a room with access to the Club Lounge. That room was so well maintained. Great staff in there. Terrific food and drink selection, but it was the patio that got me sold.

Perfect location close to 51st street subway and Grand Central Station. Also short walk away from the park and all shops on 5th avenue.Staff are all very friendly and helpful and the room although smallish(like nearly all New York hotels) was very well eqiuiped and comfatable. The bar is very lively at night if that is your thing.I will stay again if in New York.

Cons: Upon entering our first room (Cosy queen) there was a strong smell of cannabis. With my partner being pregnant this posed a problem for us. We called down to the front desk and they offered us a new room. They upgraded us to the junior 1 bedroom suite. The room was lovely and very spacious but unfortunately the air conditioning unit broke in the bedroom meaning we would have to move rooms. One of the managers contacted us to apologise for the issues and offered us another free upgrade, this time to the penthouse suite. The room was amazing. The view was great and we couldn’t have been happier. Kevin from management really turned some small negatives in to some lovely positives and made the duration of our stay a great experience and memory.

Pros: The good thing about this hotel that the staff were friendly and were able to assit you or make up for anything that was not satisfying. In addition the location was not bad either if you were looking to have access to the main roads.
Cons: Very tiny rooms!! What is called a queen only seems like a double bed and a king is more like a queen bed, plus you hardly move around in the room and toilets were even smaller. I am not sure how these rooms claim to be for 2 persons as there definately was no room to move around, or even cupboard space for clothes, unless you have 2 outfits each. In addition the first room had this horrible gas smell in the toilets leaking out from the pipes below, the water is not complimentary in the room, the shower pressure was very weak!! I did get another room though but the internet line was not working. So all in all, it was not a great experience although the staff there did help in turning things around.

No way of changing the air conditioning. Uncovered duvet just placed between two sheets.

Cons: We were told via email that we could have a bottle of prosecco delivered to our room on arrival only to be told they don’t do room service when we arrived. We put our luggage in the storage facility and when we collected the luggage we had to wait 15 minutes or longer to retrieve it- we just wanted to go to our hotel room which was annoying especially as you have to pay extra to store your luggage. We were getting married during one of the days we were there. A relative called the hotel and asked if they could deliver flowers or a bottle of champagne to the door (which obviously would be paid for with tip as a Thankyou) but they were told no. How hard would it be to just go behind the bar and bring up a bottle?! You’d think that Hilton would want to go above and beyond for customer service especially if they know it’s for a special occasion, a marriage! But the customer service we received wasn’t great. We were given a cookie on our wedding day as a congratulations. Thanks Hilton. In the morning when we were getting married we went downstairs to maybe get a bottle of champagne only to be told we would have to go to the corner shop. Probably wouldn’t stay again.

Pros: Once grand hotel now tired and with a much more varied clientele. Bed very comfortable, room clean and (for New York) quite spacious. Annoying little failures of attention to detail - dirty glasses and crockery left on corridor floors for over 18 hours, piles of changed sheets and towels left in corridors overnight, empty glasses not removed from tables in lobby. This is all slack management. Plumbing also peculiar - our room on top floor needed hot water in bath turned on for 15 minutes morning and evening before running hot enough. A shame because these small things detract from what could be a great place to stay.
