Built in 1962, the hotel features classic Art Deco details that brings guests back to one of the most beloved time periods in the city’s history.

The 685-guest room hotel sits right on 7th Avenue, making it ideally located for exploring the city. Broadway, Times Square, Central Park, and Rockefeller Center are just a small sample of the famous attractions located within a mile of the city and easily walkable for guests so inclined.

After enjoying the local attractions, guests can look forward to a stay in comfort. Standard rooms start at 280 square feet and upgrades to these units include Broadway view and Ball Drop view, for those who want to ring in the New Year in the Big Apple. The Manhattan also includes five different classes of suites, including a 1,275 square feet Presidential Suite.

The hotel does not have a restaurant on-site, but guests do have access to a grab-and-go breakfast before heading out for the day. 6.0 Okay
They say, Location, location, location... well this hotel has that, steps from Broadway and Times square. It is an aging property, that while reasonably clean and comfortable, is in need of some basic maintenance (Cracking/peeling ceiling in bathroom, unrepaired holes, dripping/flowing faucet). Every request (to English speaking staff) was handled wrong... (Asked for a late clean, and got a refrigerator and microwave instead... :) ) No amenities on site.
2.0 Bad
Pros:The location is great.
Cons:The hotel staff is less than friendly. The hotel rooms need a remodel. The hallways smell like someone is smoking weed. The ice machines don't work. The AC doesn't work most of the time.
4.2 Mediocre
Pros:Rooms in terrible shape
Cons:The bathrooms were old and dingy
8.5 Great
Pros:Location was fantastic, we were able to walk to Colbert, Beetlejuice, Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza, and close to several train lines to get us to our other attractions.
Cons:Would have been nice to have a fridge in the room
6.8 Okay
Pros:The location is superb and the staff is friendly. We had a decent view over Broadway. The price is b based on location.
Cons:Hotel is in desperate need of a Makeover. Missing grout in the bathroom, yellowing bathtub with soft spots, faucets missing screws and a thermostat that only knows "very warm", despite seeing it to 65 degrees (18C), no fan in the bathroom, are just a few of the issues. The parking garage under the Hotel is operated by a different company and is a disaster, both pulling in and especially when leaving. It took over an hour to get our car back, once ordered. Wr were told by others that this was common there.
2.8 Bad
Pros:Location is the only good thing about this hotel
Cons:Needs to be rehabbed. Rooms are rundown, moldy showers, poor customer service
6.0 Okay
Cons:The rooms are tired, evidence of water damage, electric drapes that didn’t work, carpet that has large bumps, air conditioners that keep shutting off, plus hidden $30 fee per day for access.
5.7 Passable
Cons:Fixer upper.
6.2 Okay
Pros:Location- that’s it.
Cons:We booked our stay online (as I’m sure most do). This was our first stay at The Manhattan but not our first visit to NYC. The website pictures advertised updated, modern facilities, which was true of the lobby. However, once you get off the elevator, you realize the rest of the hotel (minus one floor apparently) has not ever been renovated. Upon walking into our room, we notice that the wallpaper and paint are peeling, the furniture is chipped, the bathroom is covered in pale pink tile and includes a fluorescent light box is not even bright enough to put your makeup on. After placing a call to the front desk, we realize this is typical of a “standard” room. The modern and updated pictures on the website actually reflect the “executive” room. We upgraded as soon as a room was available, and the facilities were much more consistent with what we expected. However, we had to then deal with the thermostat being defective, so our stay didn’t brighten up that much. We will not be staying here again.
4.8 Mediocre
Pros:The main floor lobby was done very nicely. The proximity to trains & Times Square was a plus.
Cons:Our room smelled extremely bad & even the man who brought up our bags noticed it & said something to us about how strong it was. It smelled strongly of weed. That smell lasted from when we entered our room until check out, our entire stay. We even kept the windows open. The only reason I didn’t complain about it was because we had adjoining rooms with the rest of our family & we wanted to be together. Also, the room is in need of updating especially the bathroom. The water in bathroom didn’t drain properly either. As well as the hallways on the other floors. It seems as if the only update was done in the main floor lobby because once you take the elevator up and the doors open it’s like you’re in a motel. The rest of the hotel is dingy & dirty. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and I could not get comfortable with springs stabbing my back all night.
