I had received emails that our flight had changed gates, and was then delayed, but when my sister and I went to check into our flight, we were told we were unable to board because it was too late. I thought it was absurd because the flight had not even started boarding, and I had gotten an email saying it was delayed. We tried to reason with them, but they would not let us on the flight. It was imperative that we got back to Los Angeles on Wednesday, but all our plans were ruined due to them bumping us off the flight. My sister had a connecting flight to Boston, which she then had to reschedule and was charged for. We were stuck another night in Tokyo, where we had to spend money on a hotel. The Singapore Airlines attendants eventually informed us that we could get on a flight the next day. This delayed us by 24 hours, which was highly inconvenient. It was also especially unnecessary since due to the flight being delayed, we would have absolutely been able to make it. I do not appreciate being bumped off of a flight due to airlines wanting to make more money, especially being stuck overseas. Its not like it was a domestic flight where we could just hop on another one in the next few hours, this totally derailed all of our plans. I do not appreciate the inflexibility of the Singapore Airlines agents, and this is not an experience that makes me want to recommend flying with Singapore Airlines. I appreciate that they did not charge us, however it was a major inconvenience that could have simply been avoided by better customer service and understanding."

I felt disappointment that Air New Zealand separates parties and leaves room for uncomfortable situations. I really did not know what to do in this scenario, I paid for that seat but was in a way forced to give it a away without any refund in order to avoid 12 hours seating with some stranger's wife."

Power outlets (both USB and 110V DC) in my seat (I assume then, every seat had that). I fly few times a year between the West Coast and Europe and my overall flight experience on this flight I think was the best one I've seen in years. Food, quality and selection was good. Nice wines in economy. Sufficient number of clean, sufficiently roomy and well stocked toilets. The fare rate I was able to get was outstanding and contributed to the overall satisfaction. Even my neighbor, in the seat next to me was very polite, quiet and pleasure to travel with (though here New Zealand Air perhaps had less of an influence)."

I’m not talking new parents navigating a baby and crying, that’s gonna happen. I am talking about the hideous humans who have decide to have children and check out on being a parent. It’s effing miserable."

Cons: "My wife and I had our seats changed by the airline after we had already made seat assignments, so we were not together on either of the round trip flight to Kauai from Los Angeles. Flights were both full so no way to change seats once at the airport. Aircraft did not change from when we booked our flight and made seat assignments, to the day of the flights. The food served was okay, but I don't eat carbos and all the food served was full of carbos. I choose to not utilize a smart phone, or other electronic devices, and the plane had no entertainment services if you don't have a smart phone or pad."

Cons: "For some reason, no entertainment (only paid, and using your own phone/tablet) and no meal. On the outgoing flight with the same company there was a meal provided. They treat the flight as a 'low cost', only - its a full cost flight. No option to select seats either. All in all - flight was great, but not good enough value for the cost."

We were expecting warm decent meals like what they use to serve in the past rather than snack type breakfast and sandwiches & chips for dinner, on coach with extended leg room. This is one of the enticing parts of flying this airline."
Pros: "The people working the flight were nice. They treated my luggage well, they didn’t event break a wheel! The people were really great"
Cons: "The food was horrible, like a dog barfed chicken into a sloppy joe and then they microwaved it in a bag and let it sit for a day. Cookies were surprisingly delicious by comparison. The TV monitor/screens had movies that were expensive, but also the subtitles didn’t work and the headphone jack was messed up so it was really hard to hear anything. It was kinda quiet and crackling. It wasn’t like that when I plugged it into my phone. The seats were so small that I ended up getting my headphones ripped up just trying to be considerate of other passengers. My flight back didn’t even have movie options. Just 6 hours of light turbulence tickling my sciatica to the soundtrack of multiple screaming children. My girlfriends family and she were several rows up, where I was supposed to be, but I didn’t get the seat I booked so I just stared at them from zone 4 like the pauper I am."

On my flight home from Lihue one of the young men (crew member ) was extremely helpful to a young mother with a baby who was having problems with her son , I know she appreciated his kind jester in trying to take the time to talk to the little boy and assured him everything was going to be ok if he would help his mom by behaving."

On both flights we were separated. Why give the purchaser an option to pick seats if the airlines changes them with no warning? Also, the in-flight entertainment was non-existent."
Pros: "Appreciated the friendly and kind staff members and crew. Also, we were able to catch a head-wind and arrived in LA about 15 minutes early. The skillfullness of the pilots in avoiding several spots of potential turbulance. Bags arrived promply and without incident. (Thank you!!) HA is generally so much more pleasant than nearly every other US airline; thank you so much!"
Cons: "The very crowded plane with virtually no empty seats... The fees for head-phone sets... The slow-response entertainment system for use by passengers... The limited choice of movies involving non-juvenile topics - would have appreciated at least 4 or 5 films to select from that involved some kind of sophistocated comedy, mixed with a touch of drama or high-quality story line. (Did select "The Big Sick" which was of very high calibre, but no other choices existed that were similar to this style blending comedy with deeper and reflective themes.) The small sizes of the snacks, which were actually very tasty (chicken teriyaki warm sandwich and potato chips)."
Pros: "Hawaiian Air crews deliver better service in a more professional manner than most others. We had a difficult group of passengers causing a delay upon boarding. The crew took care that well."
Cons: "Domestic air travel in the USA has generally lost it's way. The costomer experience can be negatively influenced at so many points during the average trip. On this flight, other passengers (one family) with disgusting manners, smelly carry on food and generally poor attitudes, made it a captive experience. The crew were the bright spot. An airline can't help that much but, can mitigate the damage and the employees did that. You have very good people."
Pros: "Food was not great but it is always nice to have a hot meal provided on the flight and I also appreciated the Maui Brewing beer they offer during beverage service."
Cons: "I was seated in the back row and found it difficult to rest/relax on this overnight flight from Auckland to Honolulu because the flight crew was in the back socializing very loudly to the point where it was unprofessional. I could tell that I was no the only guest annoyed by the noise.It was very inconsiderate and unprofessional to behave this way while on the job especially during the announcements that I couldn ot understand because of the talking behind me. I fly Hawaiian Airlines often and have never had this type of issue. I was surprised that none of the other crew members said anything to the noisy group of hosts/hostesses."
Cons: "No entertainment, I requested a soda to take meds with shortly after takeoff. Crew member said she’d brong it to me in a minute. About 1/2 hour later she passed my seat and I asked again and she said “as soon as I finish this”. She never came. After an hour, the regular drink art came."

The flight crew were friendly and polite, the complimentary meal in coach was a pleasant surprise, and the A330-2 was smartly designed for relative comfort and accessibility."

I understand paying for the movies (although if you really wanted to stand out above the competition you could offer a select movie for free like in the old days), however the option to watch some satellite tv channels at no cost would be great. Cons: "Seven-hour delay due to mechanical failure. They finally found a new aircraft but one of the forward exit doors was inop so they had to rope off first and kick everyone in back to coach. This made a lot of people angry-- one so much so that he had to be ejected from the plane. This meant another hour of delay AFTER WE WERE ONBOARD. All the while, the only updates anyone got were along the lines of "There's a delay and we're working to remedy the situation." No explanation as to what was happening or when we would be taking off. Then, as if that wasn't enough, they announced that the flight crew was now over their legal limit for consecutive hours and they would have to find a new crew. I'm surprised there wasn't a full-on riot at this point. Everyone managed to remain calm, though, through the additional 1.5 hours we remained there waiting for the new crew-- with no compensation, no free drinks, not even WATER. Inexcusable, Hawaiian Air. You just lost a customer."

Pros: "The plane itself was nice and comfortable for me. The business class seat fully laid down, and there were lots of entertainment options. The flight was quick! 15hr flight from Melbourne to LAX only took 13 hours!"
Cons: "Several of the food items were either cold or overdone. I asked hostess what the deal was (because their food service is usually great) and she explained that in this new plane (Boeing 787) they removed a lot of the working areas for the crew. They have less space to work in order to be able to prepare food and drinks compared to Qantas's other planes (Airbus A380). This is also a brand new plane for this crew (literally the first flight for some for some of them), and they didn't know where some of the things on the plane were. I imagine after they've used the plane for a while and learn where everything is, they'll get better. I'll find out on the return flight back to Melbourne."
Pros: "The way your seats reclined: back/head your typical recline but add your seats bottom sliding forward. Best sleep I have ever had while in International economy. Sadly our plane to Australia from Los Angeles did not have the same seats. Entertainment selection excellent ! Great line up of brand new and older movies. I was able to use my noise cancelling headphones in your jack which was a big plus."

Cons: "It is frustrating that most airlines never leave on time anymore. They should be required to pay each passenger $50 for every 15 minutes they are late. It's also terrible that seats have become so cramped. My biggest fear is to drop something at my feet because then I can never reach it. Sigh."

No explanations, just surly, inattentive agents performing further checks on items that had already been twice-checked at security. Awful service."

Cons: "The plane was filthy. My seat was sticky and covered in what appeared to be food of some sort. Flight attendant wiped it off, but it wasn't clean by any means. The seat belts were twisted and had food and crud stuck to them. When I changed my clothes the next day, there was food and stains on my black pants from where I sat on the dirty seats."

I couldn't get the flight attendant to help and finally got their attention and was told they couldn't do anything until after we were in the air. I was moved away from my family to another center seat. The flight had many open seats and we should have been kept together."

Pros: "The in-flight entertainment was packed full of recent big movies. I was travelling with my partner on separate tickets due to us having different final destinations. The Qantas staff was able to re-arrange our seats together for the long flight over the Pacific. We also got to celebrate New Year's twice, since we crossed the International Dateline."
Cons: "I was not a fan of the A380 prior to my flight, and was even less of a fan after. The boarding in Melbourne was chaotic- for some unexplained reason, Qantas felt the need to quarantine the seating area around the gate. This led to a minor stampede as all 5,000 passengers thought the flight was boarding. The Qantas staff at Melbourne, from the check-in desks, to the boarding crew were all apparently over-whelmed. It wasn't any better upon arrival at LAX- the baggage area was chaos as our arrival apparently caught the LAX baggage handlers by surprise. I had a four-hour layover in LAX, yet still managed to miss my connecting flight after an excessive delay getting our checked bags, the line through customs, and rechecking in through the TSA - and that was WITH an expedited screening pass."

Looks like sales on Qantas will no longer entice me, I'll be sticking with virgin"

Cons: "Seat was known to crew to be a pain - I couldn't sleep, I was constantly being bumped into. No option to request intolerance sensitive food."

Cons: "Plane (Boeing 747 - QF15) was dirty (grime like dust up the air vents) on the side above windows and the plane looked old. Felt like we were breathing it in. Been on a lot of international flights and the meals left a lot to be desired. (scrambled eggs looked and tasted like mashed potatoes) Perhaps it's the toll from the nature of the job but the crew looked haggered and miserable. Some male crew members didn't have shirts properly tucked in - staff morale seemed low. Flying Qantas for the first time, it was a huge disappointment."
