Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "The leg room and the recline was the best I’ve had in a budget economy class, and I was not expecting a snack and two full meals. They also gave each of us a flower when boarding. It was a charming touch."
Pros: "Totally reasonably way to fly to tahiti. It seems like a well run airline."
Pros: "They bumped me off they also told me I had no insurance when I thought I bought the insurance from him flight. They are talking to see if I can get on the plane for Monday at 1:30 so I'm still at the LAXM very upset when I thought I bought insurance I had a important business in Paris and then I was heading out to Iraq to our mission day so I'm very upset right now thank you is there something you can do to make sure"
Cons: "I have purchased the priority pass but it didn't work. Was very disappointed. I could have saved money by not purchasing it."
Pros: "The entertainment"
Pros: "I was able to pick a seat with no one next to me and gathered 2 blankets and 4 pillows and sleep pretty well. I also appreciated boarding back to front and departing on time! Woo! TV Screens were new and updated which was also nice."
Cons: "The movie selection was a lot of sad and intense dramas. A few more comedy's and light hearted films would have been preferable."
Pros: "They board back to front which saves a lot of hassle with overhead bags and such and keeps things moving. I appreciated that all the flight attendants spoke French and English and were very helpful when I needed anything. My flights to and from Tahiti were both smooth sailing. My flight back was a red eye and was quiet so I was able to sleep most of the way."
Cons: "Whoa. That food was TERRIBLE. I'm usually lenient with free airplane food but wow, I don't even know what some of it was. I my second meal looked like fish and turned out to be pork (I think?). They also only came around with the beverage cart once in the 8 hour flight (just before our first meal); I had to ring my call button to get water. The plane was pretty dated as well. I've seen worse but the screens were dated and all of the movies were fairly depressing. First, I'd suggest a couple more comedy's or rom-coms. Even a couple extra family friendly cartoons would be preferable to all the war/drama/dark options. Second, I'd suggest having the movies on demand rather than play one after another where passengers have to scroll through channels and keep catching movies part way through. A simple solution would be to have WiFi and streaming on flights which was also not available. This should be expected with international flight and would allow for on demand movies and music rather than the dated system currently in place."
Pros: "They provide blankets, eye patches for sleep, ear buds, and back pillows."
Cons: "The head phones aux jack for my seat didn’t work and couldn’t hear the movie. The seats caused aches and no leg room. Lack of air flow. Food wasn’t good either meal I didn’t eat. Economy for 8.5 hours isn’t a nice trip"
Pros: "They have definitely improved in the few years since I last flew with them. The food is still really good for airplane food. Also the service by flight attendants is friendly and attentive. The entertainment offered quite a few options as there were quite a number of movies if different genres and recent releases. I would definitely recommend them over some more expensive airlines."
Cons: "Location of terminal."
Pros: "Boarding process was great and ample overhead room for baggage."
Cons: "The attendants were cold. The hot entrees were bad; the rest of the food tray was good. Half the bathrooms were inoperable due to mechanical issues."
Pros: "Entertainment options"
Cons: "Seats very thin with little to no cushioning. Seats way too close so that when a seat reclines in front, you wind up almost chewing on the seat in front. My seat was broken and did not recline. Should receive some compensation for this"
Pros: "Safe arrival"
Cons: "40 minutes late boarding AFTER calling people to board; no apologies or explanations offered. Then a hot cabin, followed much later by lousy food. Most uncomfortable Airbus seats I've ever known. A few minutes of extreme turbulence was a bonus."
Pros: "Easy boarding in Bora Bora, & speedy arrival in Moorea"
Cons: "High cost to make any changes to a reservation"
Pros: "Faa’A International Airport is NOT air conditioned and there can be long lines in the check-in counter for economy class. If you are flying Business Class, the VIP Lounge is a must. It is the only air conditioned room at the airport."
Cons: "Food was mediocre."
Pros: "seat in business class was fair to poor- unable to fully recline\ food was poor"
Cons: "seating and food"
Pros: "great options for entertainment."
Cons: "The plane food was horrible."
Pros: "Old movies little choice"
Cons: "For the crazy price and booking the tickets together, I have never not sat next to the person you booked with. The airline sat us in middle seats 4 rows away from each other (there was no reason for it since we both had single people on the aisles next to us). Really ruined the trip and made nothing about the flight worth commenting on. I won't ever fly this airline again."
Pros: "Coach is about par with other airlines of the same class. Food is acceptable. Service is efficient and the crew is pleasant. Decent legroom for me (5’5” tall). I was able to get 5-6 hours sleep on the overnight flight to LAX."
Cons: "Having to go outside and climb stairs to board. Food could have been better."
Pros: "Free movies rocks. Hawaiian air charges for them. Very good food"
Cons: "The flight was delayed, the food wasn't good at all, because I was traveling with a cast on my left foot I asked for a front seat a week before my flight and when I asked at the counter at the airport they say that they wouldn't be able to give me a front seat, the lady at the counter wasn't nice at all, she didn't help and it felt that she wasn't trying to help me or to manege any other solution."
Cons: "Better food selection, especially for vegetarians. Also, get gingerale!"
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "Staff was VERY rude, seats are uncomfortable. Inside the plane is FREEZING cold. Food was ok-"
Pros: "Plentiful blankets, pillow, headphones and earplugs. Food and drink readily available."
Cons: "Seats are too small/narrow with little leg room for a 6' person. I was seated in 45A, the last row against the window. The seat backs do not recline yet, the seats in front of us so so, we end up with the guy ahead of my in my lap with zero leg room as my knees were pressed down by the reclined passenger in front of me. Very uncomfortable to not be able to move for 8 hours!!!!"
Pros: "I liked the staff."
Cons: "Leg room was dismal. Food was not great."
Pros: "This was a wonderful flying experience for me. I was happy with the selection of entertainment, the seats were comfortable, and the crew was friendly. I also enjoyed the food!"
Cons: "We spent a long time on the tarmac at LAX. The explanation was that they were making sure everyone's bags got on board...which I felt was very odd. We left late, and arrived in Pape'ete 45 minutes late. Otherwise, the experience was excellent."
Pros: "This is a direct flight from Paris to LA so you don't have to pick up your luggage to go through customs when you go back to the US. You save a lot of time! I had 2 seats for myself. The cabin looks very attractive because of its colors. The Tahitian music is relaxing. It is also nice to see the crew with a Tahitian outfit, Tahitian pearls... You kind of travel without going to Tahiti! The crew is always very pleasant. The food is better than with any American airline."
Cons: "No choice for the meal. They had run out of one dish..."
Pros: "Lots of space in economy, food was terrific and crew was friendly and helpful"
Cons: "Passengers perhaps aren't accustomed to wearing deoderant... stinky!"
Cons: "Air Tahiti Nui does not have online seat assignment. You have to call to get a seat assignment. total waste of time. Secondly there is no way to check arrival info online in Tahiti. You have to call the airport."
Pros: "Niecelnie relatert atm on board"
Cons: "Late , but no support on the Gate. Info about time we could use w. missing."
Pros: "On time, friendly hosts."
Cons: "The food was not quality. One fresh fruit option was served; otherwise, lots of starch. They said there would be drinks available, but I could not find them."
Pros: "Colors and design are beautiful. Staff is courteous. Appreciate the extra giveaway bags. Food is nice and pretty decent. First flight to PPT was great. Returning flight to LAX was bad."
Cons: "In comparison to the flight we took from LAX to PPT, this plane was ancient, and the technology was really lackluster. The tv screens were super old and the quality was very bad. My screen was completely fuzzy and striated.. The movies froze continuously, and you didn't have control over when you could play something. The magazine guide to what was playing didn't match what was playing. You needed to use the airplane headphones with a double jack because the plane was so old, and the headphones were super uncomfortable to wear in comparison to my own personal headphones. I ended up using my own headphones, but that meant that I only had sound in one ear. There was no USB port to charge your phone. It was just very disappointing considering the airplane going to my destination was more state of the art and comfortable, and I was expecting the same going back. For an 8 hour red eye, I was counting on being able to watch good movies. I tried to watch three different movies and couldn't watch any of them through completion because they froze midway through at some point and never restarted. Most of the movies were in French too even though our destination was LAX. Super disappointing. Especially considering how expensive the flight was. Also on the flight to PPT, they even gave you a Tempur-pedic pillow for your back which was so helpful in terms of overnight comfort. There was nothing like that on this flight. Also there were no temperature controls and I had cold air blowing on me the whole flight that I could do nothing about. Lastly the food schedule was strange in that for a midnight flight, they kept you up for another 1-1.5 hours to do a light dinner service. The food is appreciated but I think going to sleep right away is way more important. Seats are super tight also. Thank you."
Pros: "Flight attendants were nice and Lights turned off shortly after T/O to help people sleep, but not much else."
Cons: "Flight delayed 2 hours--very hot waiting inTahiti airport, especially when original T/O time was 1 minute before midnight."
Pros: "More space"
Pros: "Crew service was great- friendly."
Cons: "Uncomfortable seats. So much hardware underneath some there is compromised leg room. Terrible hot food- breakfast in particular."
Pros: "Everything in our business class seats were wonderful. Loved to be able to elevate my legs. Watched movies, ate wonderful food creatively designed. Staff went above and beyond. No crying babies!"
Cons: "The beds did not lay flat to sleep, making it hard to sleep on your sides. Please convert them to lie totally flat like Singapore air or British airways. The champagne was a bit bitter. The only champagne I've ever liked was on Singapore airs business class to frankfurt, germany."
Pros: "My wife and I have planned a trip to Bora-Bora since we got married in the 80s. I had said that I would not make that long trip without a first class ticket and followed through with this our recent trip. Although the ticket was quite expensive, it was worth every penny. Air Tahiti Nui really understands what "First Class" should be like -they pamper you! They deliver course after course of amazingly good quality food and more drinks than you can possibly consume. All of the flight attendants were sincerely interested in making sure we were all happy...a wonderful experience! darn worth the investment! highly recommended! And remember, this is just the lead-up to arriving in Tahiti; things will only get better when you disembark."
Cons: "There were NO disappointments"
Pros: "The flight personnel are very nice and accomodating"
Cons: "No seat assignment ahead of time is a terrible idea. There is a mad scramble at the airport to avoid middle seats. The check-in procedure in Papeete is primitive and requires waiting on line for an inordinate amount of time. The food on board was terrible. The omelette tasted like cardboard Movie and TV selection were poor"
Pros: "My bag was destroyed, and I was told I had to check my back pack in which was BS n was charged $100 to check it in... getting in contact with customer service about the issue is impossible. The crews customer service was satisfactory, you can tell they don't want to be there. I will never fly them again."
Cons: "It got me to my destination in peace."
Pros: "No agent at gate. I was there 1hour and 15 minutes before the flight. No one was available to help me. Not even kayak!"
Pros: "The pillows, blankets, socks, eye mask and head phone were all set out. No need to ask. I liked that there were drinks and snacks available thus eliminating the flight staff fr hauling carts up & down the isles allowing for more rest on the plane."
Cons: "There was no soap in the bathroom the entire flight. Some attention needs to be paid to the cup holders. There is lots of dirt there. The planes carpet was worn out. Time for a face lift."
Pros: "Crew, cleanliness."
Cons: "1 our sears were change from 2 aisles to the last 2 seats of the airplane without the checkin counter informing us. These seats didn't recline. 2 food was much below average. 3 my tv screen was very blurry"
Pros: "Plenty of leg room"
Cons: "Seats were extremely outdated- circa saved by the bells"
Pros: "I love everything with Air Tahiti Nui."
Cons: "The agent at the counter was unpleasant. I had the impression that I bothered her"
Pros: "Pros: good selection of free movies during inflight, usb chargers, nice staff, large overhead bins, 2-4-2 seats great for couples"
Cons: "No online check in or seat selection (come on, it's 2016)! Disorganized boarding process, seats are very small and uncomfortable for 8hr flights, no individual AC Control. Food is not even discernible as to what you're attempting to eat. It's the type of food comedians used to make jokes about. Planes are outdated and need upgrades"
Cons: "I booked the flight through kayak and was surprised that we were given two meals. However, both meals included meat. When I asked about a vegetarian option I was curtly asked if I ordered one. When I attempted to explain that I didn't know food would be served the flight attendant just shook his head and walked away."
