Cons: Not anybody's fault but our own as we obviously didn't read the small print in booking.com but we were unaware of all the added taxes that added an extra $200+ on to our bill plus an added refundable $300 of accidental fee.

Cons: It continues to annoy me that they automatically charge an 18% tip on breakfast, AND even if breakfast was included in the room fee, AND in addition they leave an empty line on the payment slip for a tip, AND that while ordering the same breakfast every day the price is not always the same. I paid their attention to all of that in my prior stays and nothing has changed.

Cons: The overhead lighting in the bedroom lighting is very dim. It has lamps next to the bed but it's difficult for a senior to see well in this type of lighting. I could not locate a dimmer switch to turn up the brightness on the overhead lights.

Cons: Getting to the hotel was a challenge (using google maps put us under ground) The front desk clerk was incompetent - we had paid for our room in full prior to arrival & she kept asking us for a “credit” card for payment (the card I used to pay is both debit & credit but she “insisted” I give her a plain credit card). I finally told her that the hotel had already taken the money out of my account on “this particular card” then she looked at her computer & saw that I was correct. But ran the card for $100 in case we used “incidentals.” (Haven’t checked my card yet to see if they charged us “extra” for anything) The 2nd thing that happened the next morning: we went downstairs for breakfast & on our return to the room neither one of our keys worked in the door to open it. Luckily the housekeeping people were on our floor to open the room for us - this was around 10am & check out wasn’t til noon. We just gathered our things & left.

Cons: We had no service in the rooms on Tuesday October 8th 2019. When booking such type of room/hotel, we expect to have a room service that makes up the room every day. Pros: Excellent location with nearby subway access. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pub next door to the hotel served up good, tasty food. The room was clean and generously spacious.
Cons: Chicago is an expensive city for accommodation and the room was relatively basic for the amount spent. It would have been nice to have an iron. And whilst it is a busy hotel and understandable - my room was opposite the lift on a Friday night - so it was a little noisy at times.

Pros: The service and the front desk were always helpful and friendly and even had been in Spain we needed it. Also I forgotten toothbrush was replaced quickly with one from the front desk they're very quick at getting back up to your room or will be available at the front desk I love the restaurant there and the service and Ambiance was great it was a breakfast but it was perfect and the price was a little high but you got what you paid for in the service alone was worth that as well Sofia on the wait staff in the restaurant was very helpful and attentive. The spa has great facility and Jonna there did an amazing facial I really need it at that day and it was wonderful.

Pros: The Palmer House Hilton has a brilliant lobby. Its decoration is iconic and it is a great place to relax, meet people, have a drink or a snack. Its rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and good showers. The location is perfect, in the Loop and with easy access to Michigan Avenue, the Fine Art Museum and the Lake shore. It is very easy to access from O'Hare on the El (blue line) which is frequently much quicker than by taxi.

Pros: I surprised my sister with a quick trip to Chicago for her 25th birthday! To kick start our stay, we were greeted warmly by the staff of the Whitehall! Sheri has the biggest smile and she made us feel right at home. Our room was incredible, awing is with a chandelier in the suite and cozy robes! This was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! The location is great, a hop skip and a jump from the Magnificent Mile, the Signature Room (for amazing sunsets) and delicious restaurants. Thank you to Sheri and all of the Whitehall staff for everything! We hope to be back again soon!

I don’t think that the place to have a nice weekend, literally everything you touch is broken: plugs, window rolls, lamps, toilet, shower. Cons: I found the staff very unwelcoming and acting like they were doing us a favour. They also gave us conflicting information. We only stayed for one night and were checking out in the morning. We were woken very early by cleaners hovering and then they came into see if we had left 2 hours before check out. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was tiny. Very disappointing.

Although we were central near the main road it wasn’t noisy in the evening so we slept ok. Staff were friendly and security staff are visible at all times. We didn’t eat at the hotel as we wanted to sample other restaurants.

Cons: The halls could use a wee bit of an update. They are a bit shabby - the first time that I stayed there I was taken aback when the elevator doors opened - especially since the lobby is so elegant.

Pros: Great location, clean rooms, and attentive staff. Breakfast was good, but too big. Great coffee! The staff was excellent about moving us to a new room due to a faulty toilet.
Cons: We had difficulty finding our room as odd numbered rooms were one way and even the other. It's a little confusing to get around.

Cons: Beautiful room with great view, except had to step up into the bathroom. This is an older hotel that has some quirks. Make sure you get directions to your room as it has an unusual set up.

Cons: It is very no-frills, not that clean (the carpet could use a good cleaning). The toiletry amenities were cheap. I would recommend only because Chicago is very expensive these days. But you won't want to hang out in the room.

Cons: The staff worked my booking so bad. The locked my room without any explanation or even contacting me. After staying the first of my four nights they told me that I was a no show. It was incredible! They didn’t knew what was going on. They gave me two free drinks for all the misunderstanding. Two free drinks! I asked for a wake up call that never arrived. Thanks that I put my alarms because if not probably I’ve lost my plane. The rooms are old but clean. The elevators are from the second part of the 20th century. I’m not staying here ever again.
