Excellent 9.2
Pros: It was such an amazing experience ... We had a great experience. We've been invited to a music night organized in the BnB, we received a lot of good tips on how to visit Chicago. Every breakfast was such a great moment: great food, great people (Mel over all) -- best experience in a BnB ever
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing staff, lots of history and information about the city in the room, and very welcoming and homey feel to the property. Would definitely recommend.
Good 6.7
Pros: Close to the L train.
Cons: Shared bathroom.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Mell the owner is very personable and knowledgeable about Chicago. The property has a ton of charm and a lot of history as well. I would stay here again even though it’s farther away from the city center than I would normally like to be. Uber and Lyft made it super easy! Breakfast was awesome, like being at Mom’s!
Cons: It’s a little farther to travel to central areas but worth it. The reasonable cost of the room makes up for what we spent on travel.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Authentic place, out of the ordinary. Friendly and helpfull staff.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The place is just great. Innkeeper Mell and his son Jimmy are wonderful people and they made us feel ar home. Mell prepares the breakfast himself and he is just wonderful. Place is full of antiquities, posters, nice music.
Cons: It is sad to hear that Place will be closed after August.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was much more and personal than I expected. I am a vegetarian and Mel made sure to accommodate my palate. The house was beautifully decorated, with items from the “Bronzeville” history and jazz, different masks and antiques. Mel sat with my friend and I and we talked for hours. My friend and I felt very comfortable and safe in the house and in the neighborhood. Jimmy, the housekeeper, was friendly and welcoming as well. He even went outside during a heavy rain and clear any debris from the gutters to help reduce flooding.
Good 6.7
Pros: Friendly hosts!
Cons: We had to pay for all three nights the day we reserved them. There was no exception at all for emergencies. After we stayed at this place for one night we had to return because our child was in the hospital. I probably would not stay here again because there’s no exception for emergencies.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: American Style cooked with Muesli etc

Pros: The room and amenities were very nice, bar was a good spot too.
Cons: Lovely hotel in a great spot for conventions, but a little far out of the way for vacation travelers. All in all it was really good though.

Excellent 9.0
Cons: Reception personnel not the best
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The room had a nice view of Lake Michigan.
Cons: The pillows were not very good.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean, great location, spacious rooms
Cons: Nothing
Good 6.3
Cons: My trip was cut short and I went to the main desk to cancel my last night's reservation. The desk clerk told me I would need to do so through booking.com because the reservation was made through a third party. The reservation had been made through www.aaa.com. So, I contacted them and they gave me booking.com's contact number. I called booking.com and they called the front desk. They would not cancel my last night's reservation because of some policy. Then why did I go through all the hoopla to cancel, when they would cancel anyway? They should have just been upfront with me right away. Also, I gave over a 24 hour notice and felt this policy was not consumer friendly.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Support to marathon runners
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very close to where I needed to be.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: N/a
Cons: Beyond my expectations and excellent location for the marathon. Daughter was running. Walking distance .
Poor 1.0
Pros: Leaving the hotel for good was the best part of my stay. Room and hallways were dirty. Paper thin walls with other guests partying until 5:30 in the morning ruined my vacation.
Cons: Worst hotel experience I ever had. Lousy staff. Dirty room.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: All was very clean and to detail. Comfortable room and space for clothing
Cons: I missed having a comfy chair for when I came back at night to be able to relax instead of having to sit on the bed or on the desk chair. The ones in the lounge area are just perfect tho.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean modern large room Loved that the gym had a Peloton
Cons: I wish parking was less expensive
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place was wonderful! Customer service was grand and they were very catering to all of the runners that were staying there.
Good 6.0
Pros: Room was clean when we arrived
Cons: Sheets kept coming off the bed I was not informed about being charged for parking until after and even then I was still charged for it. Hidden fees was not cool. The toilet ran non stop. And the air wasn’t working properly. Not a happy stay for

Okay 5.0
Cons: took a long time to find my reservation. charged more without explanation cleaning lady would not allow us to get back into room to look for our forgotten item. No recycle
Excellent 8.0
Pros: This hotel was very clean. The lobby, the halls, and our room was very nice and clean. I usually find something to be grossed out about at a hotel, but definitely not this one!
Cons: The ONLY thing we did not like about this hotel is the price for valet parking.
Good 7.0
Pros: Location
Excellent 10.0
Pros: location
Good 6.7
Pros: The staff was very nice.
Cons: The shuttle ended to early!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location for Rush Orthopedics
Cons: Checking in was a bit stressful as they initially could not find my reservation.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We did have drinks and wings at the bar the night we checked in, and the wings were really good. The gentleman who checked us in Saturday afternoon was very nice, very polite.
Cons: We didn't eat breakfast here, as we had planned. They seemed a little busy and there was only one server we could see. Also, the tv hotel info said there was a buffet, which was incorrect for our location, so that was a disappointment. We went someplace else for breakfast.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: location, nice facility and staff, restaurant has great breakfast buffet, business center has use of computer (there was and extra fee to use internet but I did not use it as I felt business center two computers were adequate)
Cons: Expensive parking fee for parking vehicle in lot: It seems excessive to me. I ended up parking one day in hospital parking lot across street to try to avoid high fee. The other day I used the hotel parking lot because of better security.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great rooms. Convenient location to bu, pink line, highway
Cons: Was not accommodating for early check in. Luckily the Hilton we stayed at before let us check out late because we had a wedding to get 3 kids ready for. They asked us to call back- it's 2018, how about being more customer centric and calling me back.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: clean, well kept hotel
Cons: parking was an extra cost no free breakfast
Okay 5.7
Pros: Room was clean, bed was reasonably comfortable and Giant TV.
Cons: Hotel itself just seemed kind of old & in need of some refurbishing. For the price, I was expecting something a little nicer. I was stranded in Chicago overnight due to weather and had nothing with me. All the front desk could give me was a couple packets of toothpaste to brush my teeth with my finger.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Free shuttle
Cons: Way too expensive. No continental breakfast. Cleanliness was not as I would have expected. There was a slight rancid or sewage type odor coming from my shower. Hotel overall just seemed very old

Pros: The staff was fantastic! They made sure I had everything I needed and went above and beyond what I expected. The location was great - I didn't feel caught up or overwhelmed in the city like I do when I get closer to downtown Chicago. 10/10
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Dave's team are so fantastic! The property is a little bit old, but the resources available including a good bed, great pillows, sheets and towels, and excellent breakfast and a very good reception make this worth the while. The breakfast was the best ever I have had in the U.S. We also have some water and coke in the refrigerator for free. The restaurant of the property is simply fantastic.
Cons: The old construction of the property and the Internet is a little bit slow.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Oh my! Where do I start? We graciously fretted at the north side gate by Kevin and young master Bentley. K Bentley took my friend’s bag and led the way up the historical stairs to our two bedroom suite. After settling in we walked to a Chinese restaurant two blocks away and felt very safe. We both slept very well and enjoyed the shower in the ball & claw bathtub. Bentley brought us coffee in the morning before heading to off to school. The 1st course was toasted cinnamon bread with warm syrup, fresh fruit and mango drink or coffee. Kevin then served scrambled eggs, hash browns and three thick pieces of perfectly prepared bacon. The restaurant was open only to guests for breakfast so we had the place to ourselves. We were so so full we will forget lunch. We will be back Dave, Kevin and Bentley! We will bring more friends and family too. Your B&B is a “MUST STAY AT” site. Feels like home.
Cons: Not one thing!
Good 7.1
Pros: Awesome breakfast! Quaint place!
Cons: Noisy being above the kitchen
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Historic building, great food/restaurant (gospel brunch on Sundays sounds like a special experience), wonderfully attentive staff/owner, very accommodating. Very comfortable bed/linens, nice to have kitchenette/fridge, has two air conditioners and fans. Feels like I moved into an historic neighborhood for a few days. If you want a comfy, if dated, getaway on the south side of Chicago, this could be a fun adventure...
Cons: This is not a hotel and it’s not modern (except Roku TV and fingerprint door lock - currently (June 2019) the fingerprint lock is malfunctioning). It’s a 100 year old building which looks and feels like a snapshot of early 20th century history. The 11th Ward room was filled with historic local memorabilia. The entrance in the alley between buildings was different for me, but seemed safe in the end. Take a look at the pictures to see if this is the place for you!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The owner was very nice. The rooms were clean and very elegant decor!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was very good! Staff, especially Kevin, was friendly and helpful. Room was charming and clean.
Cons: Room was on the third floor and there was a long spiral staircase to get there (no elevator), this was inconvenient, but also added to the charm of the place. It's an older building so things like this are to be expected.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The breakfast was fabulous--just too much food.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great service. Spacious suite. Delicious breakfast made to order. Complimentary ride to McCormick Place for my conference.

Excellent 8.8
Pros: The staff were amazing and very friendly! Quick to drop everything to help you with something.
Cons: Price was a little high for what the hotel was, but it was worth the convenience.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Although it was a budget minded hotel, the staff treated you like a king.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff here is so friendly and accommodating! This is the second time we have stayed here!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is a small and modest hotel close to Midway with very reasonable rates for the area. It has recently been repainted and is well taken care if. Most importantly, staff and service here were completely outstanding. A whole lot of travelers, including myself, were stranded when all Chicago Midway departures were cancelled due to weather. Although hotel staff were seriously slammed, they remained incredibly cheerful, positive, and helpful! They also let me and other weary travelers with late next day flights have a late check-out w/o problem, and the shuttle driver offered to give us lifts to food, sundries, etc (an offer I availed myself if, to get a change of undies and eyeliner at Walgreens ☺️). I was totally bowled over by this wonderful experience, which could have been quite uncomfortable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Steve, and the guy who drove me to Walgreens!!
Cons: Nothing - it was perfect
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Room cleaness and staff are nice and ready to help. Tiny and all-can-eat breakfast. Wash and dryer room was convenient to us for keeping fresh our clothes. Drinks and ice are available if you need it.
Cons: The location is far to center. However is accessible to orange line to downtown.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We loved that it was pet friendly and we were met with furry friends and received a doggie treat bag for our dog.
Cons: We were not disappointed.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. We even got a wake up call for the shuttle. They just went above and beyond.
Cons: The room was okay and the location was okay as well.
Good 7.5
Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Great location.
Cons: Room smelled musty. Carpet felt damp.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Close to Midway Airport and staff were so helpful and friendly. And shuttle service was magnificent!
Cons: Nope
Excellent 8.0
Pros: I liked the room, the coffee I could proper in the bedroom...
Cons: The room was no smoking but had smell of cigar, unfortunately.
Mediocre 2.9
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Horrible location. The rooms are dated and not kept clean. We came into the room and found several flies, trash left from previous guests and bedding from the 1970’s.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The very friendly staff, the service shuttel service to Midway airport was punctual and they offered us coffee and donuts at 4 am before taking us to the airport, total very grateful with all the staff We would definitely stay there again

Pros: Was there for Marathon this, so price was up for the weekend. Room was good. But got locked out...low battery
Cons: No real food options close by. Coffee make in business center didn’t work the two day we were there.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nice clean and helpful staff ! Beautiful rooms!
Cons: A bit secluded from social area
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great location, close to everything we wanted to do. Room was larger than average. Staff was friendly.
Cons: The elevator closest to the front desk was very slow. We would have taken the stairs if we could have found them.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I liked the friendliness of the Staffa d how they helped us get a cab. Loved the little breakfast room and the staff. The food was so good with the small space they had to work in. It was someone's birthday in our party and they sang to them.
Cons: Just the location. Didn't seem close to anything.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Good space in the room
Cons: Staff was not friendly (at all).
Poor 1.0
Pros: Decent location and no parking fee.
Cons: Terrible staff service. Immense lack of knowledge or understanding from staff.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Quiet room with space & a good shower. Decent value for a reasonable location.
Cons: Our room was not serviced on the 2nd day and we arrived back late to find unmade beds, dirty barhroom and full trash in the bins.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: the location was excellent because of the property closeness to express way high 90 and 94 either way around the city.
Cons: there is nothing we didn't like because we only stayed two nights and that is not long enough to dislike a place
Excellent 8.0
Pros: staff and great rooms
Good 7.0
Cons: The restaurant that is in the hotel is ran very poorly. They open late and have no concept of professional people needs in regard to travel needs. They close on Monday and Tuesday. They don’t open until 7:30 and have 15-25 people trying to all get
Excellent 9.6
Pros: I booked this for the Chicago Marathon weekend and being right on the bus route helped a lot and my family was able to go few blocks to see the elite runners. Room was spacious and beds were comfy
Cons: Nothing to do with the hotel itself. Just didn't like that there was nothing around and it was at least 20 minutes each way by bus to any tourist attractions or even shopping. Couldn't even find a coffee shop near by
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Clean & spacious bathroom comfortable bed
Cons: There is no lounge to have a few drinks after a day of work.

Pros: Clean, great location
Cons: Room was too small for 2 adults. 1 bunk bed(full size on bottom, twin size on top).
Good 7.1
Pros: I love the building and location itself. Great location to get yourself downtown in a quick and easy manor. Very nice and known location for using travel services such as Uber or LIFT. Staff was always kind and willing to help with a genuine smile on their face. No "yes sir"-ing here, they all seem to really care about what you have to say or ask.
Cons: The room itself was rather small which they don't do a perfect job of showing. The bathroom is technically the worst part because the door opens into the space. Meaning to get to the shower at all you would need to step in front of the toilet itself, which itself is close to all walls, to allow the door to pass. The whole design of the room just seems lacking in design around how much space you will have in any one space. For just myself and my wife we were constantly doing a type of tango to move around the room.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location. Quick walk to the United Center. Upgraded rooms, comfortable beds, friendly, knowledgeable staff regarding the activities at the United center.
Cons: The rooms were a bit small, but still worked fine for the price!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location and price. Don't expect a 5 star experience at this price....
Cons: Exactly what one would expect for the price. We stay here once or twice a year. First time I was charged for parking. But $25.00 for the night isn't that bad, compared to the rest of Chicago.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Pet friendly
Excellent 9.0
Pros: I liked the staff and feeling safe and welcoming
Cons: Room needed a table or surface to set things on
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Cleanliness, comfort & efficiency. Also, our hotel clerk, was very helpful getting us checked in
Cons: no.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The place is beautiful and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Location is not ideal if you are running the chicago marathon.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The location was great for what we needed.
Cons: Could have used more chairs in the room to begin with. I'm sure if we had asked they would have accommodated but since they knew there were 3 people in the room it would have been nice to have them there to begin with.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Very clean room. Refrigerator and microwave. Close to the metro station.
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Location was great and we felt very safe. There was a public parking lot right next door that was only $27 dollars for The Whole weekend.
Cons: The floor in our room was not very clean. Lots of crumb stuff or something when walking around barefoot.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Metro station, restaurants and conference venue I attended were close to the hotel. The room was very clean and the WiFi connection was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The coffee tasted very good.
Cons: There is no breakfast supply / restaurant in the hotel.

Pros: This Hotel has one of the best views of the city from China Town. It is also located right next to the China Town Center. Best value for your money (Table top fridges could have made the queen rooms more appealing) with the upgraded furniture. I got a great deal, judging by the fact that i relocated to another hotel Downtown which ended up being lile mocing from grace to grass.

Okay 5.0
Pros: Close to plenty of bars, and restaurants.
Cons: Shared bathrooms and showers was weird
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The hostel was located in the Greek Town area of Chicago with easy access to buses and the subway. We stayed in a private room which met our needs. The bathroom was always clean and the staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast was quite basic, but fine to start the day (it is a hostel afterall). Very happy with our stay.
Cons: The ladies' shower could be improved as whilst I was showering cold water was dripping on me from above. The men's room light would cut out whilst showering/in the bathroom which could cause a problem or an accident. Everything else was fine. Thank you for the stay.
Good 6.3
Pros: Location, staff is nice enough
Cons: No bed light or power socket, bathroom small and dirty, locker was broken, they charge for keeping your bags , room of dorm does not automatically lock
Mediocre 2.0
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything....
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Common area was very nice
Cons: Bathrooms were small for the amount of rooms they needed to service. Room looked nothing like the example photo online.
Good 6.0
Pros: The hostel is in a great location, very close to the down town
Cons: Hostel needs renovation of premises, renovation of interior decoration. It seemed like the last repairs there were 30 years ago
Good 6.3
Pros: Great location only a couple of minutes walk from CTA Blue Line and 5 minutes from Union Station.
Cons: No bedside lighting and the ventilation in the room was poor.
Mediocre 2.0
Pros: Good place because metro lines and buses terminal are not far and you can go to the Loop walking.
Cons: The air conditionning did not work. We left food in the fridge, someone stole it. The fire detector of the room was out of service (on morre battery) and we had to disconnect it ourselves. They did not even give for free the bagage facility even after!
Excellent 8.3
Pros: location is very good for those who wants to spend time in downtown
Good 7.9
Pros: Amazing location - 2-4 mins walking from the metro station going to the city center and to the airport (blue line - UIC), 25 mins walking to the start of Chicago Marathon, it's route actually passes the hostel. Very good looking old stylish appearance of the building. Good personnel.
Cons: It is still a 2-stars hostel that is not supposed to be very comfortable. The table lamp did not work, the Internet connection was very good in the hall but almost absent in the room, it was a bit cold in the room, the bathroom is shared with other guests, the breakfast is very simple.
Okay 5.8
Pros: Really great location close to several nice restaurants and most sights. The room was surprisingly quiet and the staff was friendly.
Cons: The shared bathroom was never particularly clean and got worse daily, making us assume that it was not cleaned during our entire stay (4nights) - same as the restrooms. Also it was not possible to lock the bathroom door or the shower, meaning someone could have walked in anytime. Then, despite it being already quite cold, there was no possibility to turn the heat up in our room. Breakfast was okayish (toast, butter, jam, plain cereal+milk, 2 juices, coffee, sometimes boiled eggs).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location, staff, room, value

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great place, very friendly staff, highly recommend, and will be back next time I am in Chicago!
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very friendly staff, room was clean, but free, and the location is good.
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Okay 4.6
Pros: For a cheaper hotel, the rooms were relatively clean. The rooms were large and spacious. Nice separate desk with chairs. Sheets were clean and mattress had protectors on them. Parking was free for 2 vehicles. Very close to the Sox park.
Cons: Would not recommend long period of stay. The front desk worker, was on a video call while checking us in, but the desk worker in the morning was very nice. The security guard was sleeping during the night shift. Very outdated elevator/rooms. Doors would not close all the way. There was no obvious stairway from the 3rd floor in case of a fire. Questionable persons around hotel, but didn't bother anyone.
Okay 5.0
Pros: It's proximity to downtown Chicago was great. Free parking was a plus. Secured access to floor was reassuring, as not the best neighborhood.
Good 6.0
Pros: The only thing that was good about this place was the staff and the restaurant next door, it was close to what we were going to see but way over priced.
Cons: It was old
Poor 1.0
Cons: It was very bad not clean , mold , walls was peeling the bath tub had hair in cold not takin a bad very gross the neighborhood was very scary out there was a died was a black bird out side saw the cleaning guy just around it and was still ,not happy
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Inexpensive. Close to the train. Free parking
Cons: Not clean. No basics in room such as a telephone and other items.
Mediocre 2.5
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Bed hard as a rock. Room smelled like smoke. Druggies standing around all over the property. Blood stain on mattress. Lamps didn't work. Afraid to plug phone charger into wall outlet looked like it could catch fire. I could go on and on. It was awful!
Good 7.4
Pros: It was clean and comfy. Big rooms, mini fridge and microwave.
Cons: Getting into the parking lot was confusing for us out of towners. A little dated.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location and the size
Cons: No
Poor 1.0
Cons: Half ceiling leaked, bathroom sink was clogged upon checking in, window was broke and wouldn't shut. Front desk was extremely rude at check in and my concern about room. Floor was soaked from leak. Lights were broke. I have pictures upon request of issues
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The people.
Cons: The leaky window.

Good 7.0
Pros: The location is the best with restaurants open after 12am. What a deal
Cons: The room was small, but bearable.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Much cleaner than expected for a 2 star hotel. Great value. Close to metro.
Mediocre 2.0
Pros: location, near the Convention Center, in China Town for good food. Should be listed as a boarding house.
Cons: No amenities at all? No wash cloths. No coffee machine, in room or loby. TV was just over the size of my I-Pad. No elivator. when returning from the trade show, walking up to Hotel, thru a hotel window, "hello Baby" was called out? Rubbers on front desk.
Good 7.9
Pros: Yes!
Cons: Do not have elevator! It is bad.
Good 6.0
Pros: Cool area
Cons: Smelled a little, small and old.
Good 6.3
Pros: No internet speed, no fridge, microwave in room, no elevetor
Cons: Location, cost
Good 6.3
Pros: Location is great in Chinatown, with very comfy beds! But hotel is very Basic. Easy train transport to/from Chicago
Cons: WiFi coverage was very uneven.
Okay 5.0
Cons: We had no choice as we wanted to rest for about 3 hrs before we took the train to Buffalo New York. The hotel has no lift so you had to carry your bag up the steps. She gave us the 2nd floor. The room was alright but there is really nothing fantastic about the hotel. I’ve seen better hotels that are cheap and good.
Excellent 8.8
Cons: Bad wifi, really bad
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The hotel was in a great location, we were able to walk to many places. The staff was very nice, they gave us a good recommendation for a place to eat. The room was very small and dated, but when compared to the prices of other hotels in the area, it was worth it.
Cons: The room was dated and could really use a renovation. The bathroom and shower were both super small and the shower door kept hitting the sink. It was pretty clean and smelled nice, but really could use a sprucing.
Okay 5.0
Pros: The bed was comfortable
Cons: That the cleaning people was knocking on the door way before check out time
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great value for money. No frills. Did exactly what we wanted to do- Place to crash. Safe neighborhood
