Pros: The variety of food to choose from was long. This was a real breakfast you could customize the way you wanted and not just a cup of coffee and some donuts. The stay was more like being in a private house and not a hotel. Usually don't spend much time in the hotel but picked up a friend from Japan and he slept the whole day at Ray's. Had the whole thing to ourselves and enjoyed walking around the area. Had many services just blocks away. Most hotels in this area charge for parking which we did not have to do. Had to move car for street cleaning but found a spot about a short block away.

Cons: I did not not have access to the private bathroom that I paid for until I was ready to leave. There were no available, in-person staff on the premises to assist with anything. The room I had was dusty and I encountered a bug in my room. There could be more parking or a big parking lot would be feasible.

The house was beautifully decorated, with items from the “Bronzeville” history and jazz, different masks and antiques. Mel sat with my friend and I and we talked for hours. My friend and I felt very comfortable and safe in the house and in the neighborhood. Jimmy, the housekeeper, was friendly and welcoming as well. He even went outside during a heavy rain and clear any debris from the gutters to help reduce flooding.

Cons: We had to pay for all three nights the day we reserved them. There was no exception at all for emergencies. After we stayed at this place for one night we had to return because our child was in the hospital. I probably would not stay here again because there’s no exception for emergencies.

There were extras everywhere and they even included a spice rack in the kitchen. Having two bathrooms with a lot of travelers was nice. It was a spacious rental that allowed us to spread out and relax after a long day in the city. It was within 20 minutes of all the sites and museums that we visited.

Cons: The only complaint I have, is that I could not find the blow dryer and by the time I received a phone call back, I had already picked one up for myself. The blow dryer(actually two of them, were in a bathroom drawer that nobody realized was even there!) LOL! Otherwise, it was perfect.

Pros: I can't imagine you'll find any other place as cool as this! Your "suite" is an entire old school Chicago apartment in a really neat neighborhood. The suites are really big, comfy, clean. The owner and manager are just the nicest people. If you're lucky, you will get to meet Ronan, the rescue dog. Get up early and go for a run or walk as the neighborhood wakes. Be sure to visit the park on 29th and Halsted that used to be a quarry and take a few pics of downtown from the top of the hill. And then linger over an amazing breakfast in the Polo Cafe. And swing past 31st street beach, too - - a quick bike ride or drive from the B and B.

Pros: Every morning, we were served Creme Brulee French Toast as well as a wonderful breakfast that was different every day. The staff was kind enough to drop us off at our daily destination every morning as well. Everyone was very nice and highly attentive to our needs. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, it was great!

Pros: The staff was fantastic! They made sure I had everything I needed and went above and beyond what I expected. The location was great - I didn't feel caught up or overwhelmed in the city like I do when I get closer to downtown Chicago. 10/10

Pros: Dave's team are so fantastic! The property is a little bit old, but the resources available including a good bed, great pillows, sheets and towels, and excellent breakfast and a very good reception make this worth the while. The breakfast was the best ever I have had in the U.S. We also have some water and coke in the refrigerator for free. The restaurant of the property is simply fantastic.
Cons: The old construction of the property and the Internet is a little bit slow.

Pros: Historic building, great food/restaurant (gospel brunch on Sundays sounds like a special experience), wonderfully attentive staff/owner, very accommodating. Very comfortable bed/linens, nice to have kitchenette/fridge, has two air conditioners and fans. Feels like I moved into an historic neighborhood for a few days. If you want a comfy, if dated, getaway on the south side of Chicago, this could be a fun adventure...
Cons: This is not a hotel and it’s not modern (except Roku TV and fingerprint door lock - currently (June 2019) the fingerprint lock is malfunctioning). It’s a 100 year old building which looks and feels like a snapshot of early 20th century history. The 11th Ward room was filled with historic local memorabilia. The entrance in the alley between buildings was different for me, but seemed safe in the end. Take a look at the pictures to see if this is the place for you!

Cons: There wasn’t anything not to like! Full size refrigerator in suite, no microwave. Reminder: As stated there are stairs, no elevator. We were offered luggage assistance if needed. Upon arrival at the Polo Inn the phone number to call Kevin, your host, is clearly posted on the window by the front door of the Inn. Call it! Kevin will come downstairs to greet you and escort you to your suite!

Cons: Room was on the third floor and there was a long spiral staircase to get there (no elevator), this was inconvenient, but also added to the charm of the place. It's an older building so things like this are to be expected.
