Pros: The crew were very welcoming and made you feel special. The food was great! The burger was tremendous! The films very up to date.
Cons: The seat is comfortable but doesnt recline enough, I dont like the fact that you need to flip the seat to get it flat, when is it flat its rock hard! Good on AirNZ for providing the foam mattress topper it helps. ButOnce its flat you cant really watch TV.

Cons: Auckland to Chicago was fine. Chicago to Minnesota was horrible. The departure plane showed up late due to weather which is understandable. Once the plane showed up we waited for over 4 hours for a pilots to show up. Our flight could have bee managed much better, poor job by United!

Cons: Air NZ serves the special meals first but never offers passengers a drink. By the time the meal and drinks trolleys come round for the rest of passengers, most people have eaten their special meal.

Cons: We told the crew the water tasted funny, like dirt, they said it was fine, just had lemon in it. Pretty sure we know the difference between lemon and dirt taste.

Cons: Ran out of meal options, flight was delayed so one option breakfast not appropriate at midday. The flight attendant blamed the person in front of me for taking the last other option. I had to clarify with her that meant there was only one option left. She seemed annoyed at me for asking.

Cons: Is it possible to build in a way to tilt the seat bottom up at the front a bit so that when the back is reclined you don'get as sore a bum, and you don't slide forward as much. The seatback recline and headrest were very good.

Cons: There was only approximately 13 inches for the aisle between seat sections. It was mostly women with big wide hips who kept me awake most of the 12 hour and 34 minute flight, as they brushed my shoulder disturbing my ability to rest.

Just OK
Pros: I liked that there was food available and that they offered complimentary snacks and drinks. Some of the crew members were nice and offered good service. I liked that they offered some type of entertainment and free wifi.
Cons: I didn't like that some of the crew members were not very nice. I also disliked that some of the crew members drove the food/beverage cart violently through the isles and saw as one of the crew members rammed into another person's leg, to only say "oh sorry" and kept on going. This same crew member missed picking up the trash from an entire row and was throwing trash on the floor. She was more interested in caring for a baby on board (not sure if it was her daughter or family member) than the rest of the passengers. I also didn't like the seats were so close to each other, the person in front of me almost hit my face when he reclined his seat all the way back. There wasn't much room to breath let alone stretch.

Pros: Seats rows seemed to be more distance apart than other airlines. Flight was actually done by Air New Zealand rather than Cathay Pacific. Check in at Auckland airport was very quick and highly automated, however, our gate was not posted till one hour before the flight, so we did not know where was the best place to sit and wait.
Cons: Food was mediocre. Coffee and tea were like warm or cold.
Pros: flight crew are good, other general categories are average.
Cons: Boarding in both Sydney-Auckland & Auckland-Vancouver are disorganized. No clear indication of when & where to line up. No flight delay message to explain when boarding time was long overdue.
In particular, for the Auckland - Vancouver flight, one ground staff was telling economy passengers (in rather rude express) they were in the wrong line except there was never announcement.
Overall, disappointed.

Cons: The check in process was a disaster- and none of the crew knew what they were doing. They were very unhelpful and on topof that kayak did not let us know there would be a $160 fee if we did not order a seat with a baggage. It was not clear on the third party site. It was a very costly for us, a couple who is on a budget. i book From kayak all the time, and know exactly when I am booking an economy ticket vs a more upgrade. We had to pay an unexpected $320 on the day of flight. It was ridiculous and while we were boarding the flight attendants held us up again bc we had not paid the fee. But we tried to pay the fee at the front desk the first time and then we paid it at the gate and then boarded last on the plane. It was awful. The staff did not know anything and we were not treated great. Super unprofessional and disappointed at Kayak for not laying out all the costs ahead of me.

Cons: Business class Seats are uncomfortable, cushion is not that soft, sides are narrow and too tall, hard square arm rest on the right, drink tray is behind your shoulder, hard to fasten seat belt. Ride was very rough in both directions. Not worth the price paid.
Air New Zealand - pleasant surprise!
Pros: Everything ! Staff was awesome , food was great and hi-tech plane with its entertainment consoles . Touch button options for ordering drinks , food , movies, chatting with other seat passangers , Wow! Blew my mind . We left on time and landed on time too. We had premium economy seats - felt like business class other than reclining level of the seats. Pretty good value!!

Cons: Due to limited internet in Rarotonga, we weren’t able to fully check in until we got to the counter. The flight in came with two checked bags and not our flight to Auckland. We were expected to pay a fee at the counter but was charged $170 for the counter checkin of one bag. This price was not listed or posted anywhere during the booking or via email for mobile check-in.

Never Again. No One Should Ever Fly New Zealand Air
Pros: The gate agents and the gate supervisors were rude and condescending
My reservation was changed mid air and even though I made it to the gate 18 to Houston on time and boarding was still in progress I was not allowed to board. I was informed a plane was not a bus that I could hop on anytime I liked. When I protested that I had a confirmed reservation I was calmly told. “We canceled it because we didn’t expect you to make it.”
Cons: I missed my Thanksgiving Holiday because some powers that be decided I would not be able to make a connection
So instead of waiting to we if I missed it and rebook then, like a normal airline, they preemptively cancelled and denied boarding.
