Pros: I told them I am severely asthmatic. When I walked into the room I immediately smelled musty old rug that was cleaned at least dozens of times and exhausted its useful life a long time ago. I went back to the front desk and told them needed a different room for medical reasons and willing to pay more. The front desk person and the day manager told me that they did not have availability without any serious they said no without any consideration and force me to sleep in this room where I ended up wheezing all night. They also lied to me that all the rooms were renovated at the same time and were the same. And it turns out that there were at least a few rooms available.

Cons: Robe had a hole in it, towel was ripped, stains on chair and furniture was all scored. The coffee machine also didn't work. Not a 5 star room. Very disappointed. Strange layout too. Everyone needs to get lift to 3rd floor then walk to first or second floor. And only way out is via 3rd floor again.

Pros: The bed was a absolute dream especially the pillows. It was my partners birthday and there was complimentary sweet treats when we arrived and Jonathan helped us all the way to the car park with our luggage he was fabulous and very helpful.
Cons: Only thing that could of been better is the price of breakfast as it was quite expensive especially to your room. We also requested a king size and it was accepted however it was actually a two singles pushed together. Nevertheless it was extremely comfortable. Also, should be a mirror above desk/dressing table or sockets next to full length mirror as it was harder to get ready.

Pros: Very clean (except for the floor in the bedroom - like other reviewers, we found it quite dusty). Location was the best part; right at the end of the Royal Mile, less than 20 minute walk to almost all tourist locations and lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. Modern vibe, unfussy. Nice that they'll store your bags for free if you arrive before check-in time. Kitchenette is well stocked, helpful to save money on groceries if you're staying for a while. Cons: Beds are Murphy beds that fold into the wall, so they're very hard mattresses, we did not sleep well at all. Had a room with a window out onto the street and we got woken by a lot of shouting at 3am both nights (not even a weekend). Bathroom was very tiny, terrible water pressure too. We aren't large people but still found it really hard to move around the room/bathroom without knocking into things. Don't bother with the on-site breakfast - way too expensive! But there is a fab breakfast place literally in the same building around the back of the hotel (Loudons). We ended up eating there every morning for about half the price of the hotel breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was well situated on the Royal Mile with easy access to many tourist attractions and restaurants. Enjoyed the hot shower which was a good size . Although we only stayed one night, we thought that the apartment in general was well appointed with good facilities for heating or making a simple meal if staying for a few days.
Cons: Not quite sure how the fold away clothes rack in the shower cubicle worked. When opened out the shower door couldn’t open . Would certainly return.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: great location and had a room upgrade when we arrived. Very good accommodation value for money
Cons: only buffet breakfast available which was fairly expensive if you didn't want such a large amount of food

Cons: The sofa bed was not so comfy...

Pros: The property is in the city centre which is great for shops, bars, restaurants etc. Lovely clean, modern apartments with a great view from the 4th floor. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Pros: Everyone was great especially front desk staff
Cons:
The Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile benefits from an ideal location. The Aparthotel is situated in the city centre on the famous Royal Mile, with many restaurants, shops and historic buildings to explore. The Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle are only a short walk away, with Waverley train station accessible by a 5 minute walk. The Aparthotel provides 146 new and fully equipped apartments, from studios for 2 persons to 1 bedroom apartments for 4 persons.
2016/2017 TripAdvisor Hall of Fame-Certificate of Excellence The Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh has been sympathetically designed to blend in with its' historic neighbours. Behind the stunning 16th century exterior there lies a modern hotel with comfortable and well-equipped accommodation and a range of nine conference and banqueting rooms catering for up to 200 delegates. The hotel is popular with both business and leisure travellers as its' central location places it within easy walking distances of the main business, shopping and tourist areas.

Pros: Location was perfect. The room had plenty of space and the bed was very comfy! Lots of choice for breakfast. The sausages and scrambled egg and juices were lovely. Friendly staff who were especially friendly to my baby at breakfast time. Lovely relaxing pool and sauna. The lounge area was beautiful.
Cons: I paid extra for a premium room with a city view. There was just a small view of a street near by and there was no sofa area as advertised when I booked it. They had forgotten to put a cot in the room which they confirmed they would do when booking, so we rang for one which was brought to us but this was a broken one so we had to ring to get another one which got sorted. On check in we were not told about any facilities at the hotel we could use or where breakfast would be served and times for this. We were told to come back at 12.30/1pm to check in and when we arrived back to check in at 2.15pm we were told the room still was not ready for another 20 minutes which was unfortunate as our baby needed to settle with warm milk and a nap.
6.5 Good
Pros: Spacious suite living room, separate half guest bath, Decent breakfast with separate order menu, gym had free weights to 30kg, location is on royal mile down road from castle (but for Christmas markets and shopping, a princess street hotel would been better), overall friendly staff.
Cons: 1. For a royal mile suite, main bathroom was standard. Overly spacious living room really could’ve spared space for a more comfortable bathroom befitting suite.
2. Website advertised kids eat free. However, when we ordered meals for the kids via room service, we were told it’s not free. Extremely deceptive and off putting of brand.
3. I emailed the hotel 1 week in advance of 4-day stay and asked for milk, orange juice, and water in room stocked and included room mini fridge. Email from customer service acknowledged request and even confirmed we still wanted wine and beer - a nice catch! However, when we arrived, we were informed juice and milk not included. False service promise should’ve not been made.
Room service food was Not worth price (pizza, burger, and kids chicken meal were only ok but far more expensive than eaterery options all around).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view of Arthur’s Sear (but had to pay extra for it). Very comfortable room and great location on the Royal Mile.
Cons: Only niggle is that there were no complimentary biscuits - we had a long train journey up and were starving. Surely a hotel of this calibre could run to a packet of Scottish shortbread - instead of a nail file and cotton buds.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing! Staff were very helpful and hospitality was good
Cons: The fridges were dirty and the carpets could do with new ones

Pros: Very good eggs royale at breakfast! with good, generous selection of foods for a yummy continental breakfast and nice surroundings for eating, with great view across the grassmarket to the castle. Very comfortable rooms (apart from our particular lack of ventilation, only due to position of room -doubt many have this problem). Excellent hotel position, with parking available at the back. We could nip in&out and visit some of the lovely pubs & cafes etc (including the castle itself!) that are literally just over the road. We had a really nice chill in the bar at the hotel during our stay, finding it very relaxing, whilst quietly convivial. We also called room service and had some delicious food sent up. We were very well looked-after.

Pros: The Hotel is located in a great spot! Close to restaurants and lots of main attractions, hop on hop off bus stop right in front of hotel. The staff was very pleasant and customer service was good.
Cons: It is a little outdated, they are in the works of renovation. clean bed, shower and bathrooms need a deep thorough cleaning not just wiping down BUT scrubbing with disinfectants.
6.0 Good
Pros: Staff were lovely.
Cons: Looking a bit tired. Desk in room had big scratch on it. Also, on a previous stay breakfast was on the top floor which was lovely. This time we were in the lower part of the ground floor restaurant. The continental breakfast choice was quite poor considering the price. The toast was merely warmed up bread and coffee wasn't particularly hot. My elderly parents in their 80s, who were also staying, were unable to shower as they couldn't get in or out of the very steep sided bath.

Cons: Shame our room had no opening windows in it; we had to have the noisy air-conditioning unit on the whole time at the lowest temperature just to stop it from being overbearingly hot and stuffy. didn't sleep so well with it on, had to turn it down in the night. Not great for STAFF or guests to have to deal with people literally shooting up drugs (does one assume heroine?) on the back steps at rear of hotel -I would not go out that way for fear of a sharps injury and instead was trundling around the front of the hotel with all our luggage. It is no doubt an absolute boon that you have parking, but for the sake of your STAFF (& guests!) this should be improved somehow -it would appear that one of the 'standard' members of staff at the desk had to go and 'deal with' the situation -that should not be expected of your staff -they obviously have to deal with this on a regular basis from the reaction at the front desk -they are at risk of sharps injuries -either from being attacked by the addicts they are trying to clear away, or whilst trying to clear up the area after they have gone and likely left used syringes lying around...

Cons: Noisy room - next to service lift being worked on for two days. Lots of rooms here back onto access street for services including bins. You don’t need a wake up call as bottle bin is emptied at 6.30 am. Reception staff that didn’t want to hear, let alone respond to, feedback. Almost argumentative as if they often are on the defensive. Small room and bathroom described as ‘Superior King’’. Housekeeping staff entering room without knocking.

Pros: Location was great.
Cons: The bed was too hard for us.

Pros: The location was great for visiting the castle and hanging out on the Royal Milr.
Cons: We had a car and it was very difficult to use the parking that was a half mile away during a period when all the streets were blocked off for a festival.
4.0 Okay
Pros:
Cons: Carpet was filthy upon check in trash from previous guest was still there. Hair in shower stall dirty sock under bed. Room was extremely hot and unable to sleep from bar noise screaming at 4 am. Room was extremely overpriced as I would rate this hotel one star. I would never stay at another Ibis
7.0 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is great. There are a lot of things you can reach by just walking from the hotel. Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Canon Gate, Victoria Street to name a few. The staff was also helpful, they helped us find out the local attractions very easily.
Cons: We felt like the value for money is not that great for the amount that we paid. Unlike the US, hotel rooms are smaller in the UK (overall Europe).

Pros: Hilton are our Hotel Group of choice. I just thought this one to be overly expensive probably only justifying itself because of its proximity to the Old Town and the Royal Mile. The bedroom and bathroom were small and the rest of the hotel just felt like an apartment building. There was no real old-world warmth.
As you would expect the staff were very friendly and helpful. My final gripe was that the parking was public and some distance away down a hill and some very steep steps. This,I concede however,is probably the case with most Edinburgh hotels.

Pros: The location is great for access to the Royal mile and you can get anywhere by walking or train quickly. It is also close to some great pubs and restaurants. The hotel is updated and the rooms are nice. There are no real views but you are downtown.
Cons: I think for international guests who fly in overnight an option for early checkin would be great even if it cost additional. We wanted to freshen up and had to use a restroom in the restaurant in the hotel which was not a great option.

Pros: Room and location excellent
Cons: The hotel is a building site. The description says there is scaffolding outside but that's an understatement... There is building work, wires hanging precariously, areas in complete darkness and emergency exits blocked off.

Cons: Bar prices changed depending on staff. Confusion at reception. Poor organisation regarding food, chief not supported by management
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Absolutely nothing. I was disgusted with Hilton Edinburgh Carlton staff attitude and overall cleanliness.
Cons: Being sent to another cheap hotel - The Leonardo Boutique hotel on the first day upon arrival citing system glitch. I had requested late check in which was accepted & confirmed in return by Hilton Edinburgh Carlton. But was still denied a room eventhough full payment had been deducted from my credit card a week before arrival. Actual reason was because Hilton had double booked due to Christmas market right around the corner. Found out this from the other hotel & the taxi driver whom sent us there. This it seems was quite a common incident with Hilton Edinburgh Carlton that they have a special account with other hotel owner just for this purpose. Plus the overall attitude of staff who don't seem to be bothered that they had made a mistake. Appalling for Hilton hotel legacy. Expecting guest who had come to Edinburgh to waste valuable time swapping hotels. 2nd day spent at Hilton Edinburgh Carlton. Checked in and found a dirty room & bathroom more fitting with a 2 star rating. Dust everywhere. On aircond vents, table, sofa and even the bed. Milk stain on coffee making table which had not been wiped clean. Coffee mugs and spoons had stains on them. Same issue with bathroom. Toilet seats had stain on them. Had to use tissue to cover before you use toilet. Water from shower runs down on to floor. Also disappointed due to there were no bath tub. In booking.com it was shown with shower and bath. False advertising. Breakfast was another issue. Stale sausage, haggis, and black pudding which had been re- fried many times. Leftovers from the day before. Fruits are not fresh. Pastry as hard as rock. If you don't believe me try the waffles or scones. I've had better scones from Tesco. First time hotel break fast gave me stomach problems. Coffee was watered down. Simply don't understand why a chef like Marco Pierre White would lend his name to this hotel restaurant. Hopeless. Marco Pierre White you should be angry (fuming mad) at this place....
4.0 Okay
Pros: The refurbished room on the 4th floor was spacious, clean and nicely appointed - aiming for a modern twist on the 1920s and must be said succeeding
Cons: It is an expensive to stay in building site. Most annoyingly was checking in at 3.40 and being sent to a room that was still being cleaned. Front desk should have foresight to deal with this in way befitting a 4* hotel. I almost felt I was in the wrong.

Pros: Location was Great, room was tidy and clean.
Cons: We were not told the room key was required to access the floor levels in the elevator. No information on what time breakfast was served or where until asked. Room had one to many mirrors.

Pros: Bed was very comfortable

Pros: Rooms were lovely and beds very comfy. Bathroom very modern and shower was amazing.
Cons: Requested an iron in the room prior to arrival but it wasn't there.
The heating came on at 6am and was very noisy. This woke my partner and I up and we couldn't get back to sleep with the noise.
The tea/coffee machine in the room did not work.
Left my straighteners behind in the room but when I contacted the hotel to enquire about this they said they checked and they were not there. That is a mystery to me.

We think you'll agree that our location is perfect, but we all know it's what's on the inside that really counts. Our welcoming 24hr bar is stocked with a great selection of Scottish beers and spirits, our fibre Wi-Fi is free and speedy, and we have a beautiful outdoor courtyard for relaxing with a tipple - when the inclement Scottish weather behaves itself. And with a room upgrade option available, you'll certainly enjoy plenty for your money at ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge.

Cons: On the booking site I chose a deal with breakfast included. On arriving at the hotel we were told this was not the case and that booking.com arrangements did not usually include breakfast. Pros: Room was clean and well presented, service was excellent all easy and not a problem, perfect location short walk from everything you need including a 24 hour car park
Cons: Small things like the shower base wasn’t grippy and I nearly slipped and hurt myself, plus the room was really warm being in the basement but the skylight shut itself at night leaving the room very hot even with the heating off

Pros: Bathroom, room itself.
Cons: Breakfast wasn''t of the same standard as the room or the hotel in general. Our second day they ran out of things on the buffet. Croissants were good.

Pros: Location, location, location. Within walking distance (<1 mile) of every place I needed to be or wanted to see on a mostly-business trip.
Nice views from my 4th floor window facing Prince St.
Bathroom was thoroughly up-to-date and very clean.
Cons: Mattress was soft and showing some age.
Some street noise--a tradeoff for the view, and not intrusive with the window and curtains closed after 10 pm.
7.1 Good
Pros: Wifi didn't work on my iPhone, only my iPad.
Cons: There is demolition of a building right behind my room. They start early in the morning. It wasn't pleasant at all.

Pros: Included breakfast was excellent with free hot beverage service too. The location cannot be beat, in the center of everything. Easy to rent a car, walk the royal mile, shop, eat, and see all the sights Edinburgh has to offer!

Pros: Breakfast was excellent with a large choice of cereals, fruit and full Scottish cooked breakfast. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The hotel is in an ideal central location near to the train and bus stations and close to many of the attractions. The room was very clean and tidy with TV, chairs, tea/coffee making facilities, etc. The bathroom was also very clean with a bath and shower.
Cons: The only minor issue we had was with the two sets of doors, which are in the hotel entrance hallway at street level. We found these a little awkward and difficult to keep open, especially when passing through with luggage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lunch was great bar service was good
Cons: Brilliant hotel on the main street and near the train station
6.3 Good
Pros: The only good thing most of the staff who were friendly and helpful
Cons: This hotel is very tired in need of good refurbishment, the fact that I never had a window made me feel claustrophobic, the noise in the corridors at night meant I never once had a good nights sleep. On our last night we were overcharged for drinks that we had already paid for. Will I stay here again absolutely not.

Cons:

Pros: Location
Cons: The merchant's website is not elaborative if you open a mobile version. It didnt show to book for a child. I was fooled by the same as had to pay extra for my child. For some reason, they charged me the whole amount for bfast inclusive, but bfast deal wasn't showing. I travelled from India and had the worst experience as had to check out early.

Pros: Position of hotel excellent. Central and across from train station. The hotel is happy to store your luggage so arriving early or leaving late is not a problem. Good choice for breakfast. Nice having a restaurant and bar within the hotel.
Cons: Creaking floor boards in rooms. Poached egg cooked well but tasted heavily of vinegar. Jacket potato on the greasy side as if it had been deep fried.

Pros: 4 person suite that held the family. Our own bathroom and shower. Fresh and updated. We didn't use the other amenities. Definitely recommend
Cons: A little loud from some guests using the outdoor Café below our window but not bad.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great position, nice pub inside the hostel
Cons: We got a private room. It was quite dirty and there was literally nothing but the beds, a toilet and a shower; not even a glass where to put toothbrushes!
7.0 Good
Pros: Position is great, the room is quiet, the bar is good to relax after a day out.
Cons: Our beds in a 10-bed room did not have small lights to use at night (while the other beds did). We were forced to use our mobile phones to avoid switching on the room light.
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was nice amd also the location of the hostel.
Cons: The bathroom wasn't so clean and it didn't look very nice (see photo only with the shower,, the room with the toilet wasn't cleaned by the housekeepers), we couldn't open the window for fresh air as we were at the last floor and the window was blocked and it could have rained inside as the window was not in a vertical position. The most annoying think was that the housekeepers left the door opened twice after they cleaned our room. We stayed there for 5 nights and 2 times we found the door opened when we came back from the city centre so everybody could have entered in our room and steal something from us.

Pros: The staff was very nice. Very friendly. Very affordable. The best for backpackers
Cons: Not enough utensils, cups ie you have to be very lucky to get the few cleaned ones Didnt like the dorm of 18beds. Not comfy for couple. Was noisy in the night. A bit of space would be great, e.g everything is so cosy. No secured lock in the dorm unless you bring your own locker Secured locker is paying. And could not check out late nor check in earlier. hence, you have to put your lugage in the paying locker or stay there until your time is ready. No access to free breakfast when booked with booking.com.

Pros: I only liked breakfast. It was very good.
Cons: I stayed in bedroom 31. It was terrible, overcrowded and I regretted looking behind the bed. Bathroom was dirty. I think it is clean only once a day. There are 12 beds in a bedroom that has space only for 6. The last bed almost touch the ceiling. Twelve people sleeping in a bedroom without any ventilation. We couldn't open any windows because they were hidden behind the beds. To noise at night with higher music from bars and cars beeping outside. It's almost impossible to find a place to park the car. Without any doubt it was the worst hostel I ever stayed. Please avoid it.

Pros: Breakfast was good. The room had a lovely outlook.
Cons: Some of the staff could have been a bit 'brighter'. Not too impressed when I had dinner as the water jug was horribly chipped, the food was slightly disappointing for the price.

Cons: Evening meal could have been better. Staff in restaurant seemed stressed.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location is excellent
Cons: Public toilets dirty and parts of the hotel are run down and in need of repair - the original room we were offered as a double was tiny, backed on to a fire escape where the generators were noisy and the window was broken open - so there was no way to shut out the noise - reception kindly upgraded our room - which was so much better and better value for the cost .

Funny British ways about electricity - you have to put a hotel key in to a special reader inside the room to turn on the electricity in the room. They really don't want you to leave the lights on when you're not there, I guess.

Cons: We stayed in two different rooms. The second room had a bathroom that needed some work. It was clean, but some towel bars were showing rust, and the tile needed to be re-caulked.
8.0 Excellent
Pros:
Cons: Rooms were not ready on arrival, and when we asked when they would be ready she said she did not know, went back later and saw another member of staff and he was more than helpful
3.1 Mediocre
Pros: The reception area looks swanky but it’s a fur coat and no underwear. Good location for Old and New town
Cons: Room was a time machine from the 90’s
Shower didn’t work because of ‘pressure issues’. The same ‘pressure issues’ also meant the the hot water failed to come out of the taps unless they were fully opened for at least five minutes and then it took a good 15 minutes to fill the shallow bath. The maintenance man said this was always an issue on the third floor particularly in the morning because everyone was using the water.
Husband had to rescue something from under the sagging couch and wish he’d left it there - disgustingly filthy and left us feeling queasy that we’d been in the same room as that level of filth. Probably not been moved since the 90’s...
Relative to other hotels it’s a cheaper option but not cheap enough - I’d have paid a bit more for a consistent hot water supply and a room that had been deep cleaned in the last decade.
