Excellent 10.0
Pros: The building was built in 1826 and many of the old period features are still there but also modern touches. The whole hotel is furnished and decorated to a very high quality. Lovely open fires and wonderful accessories adorn the hotel. The hotel is bright and clean. The rooms are wonderful, full of charm and comfort. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is lovely. Atmosphere and ambience are wonderful too. I would love to stay more often but live too far away. Good value for money for staying in such a beautiful building with surrounding gardens and amazing views. We will definitely return for more visits.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: It was a lovely, quiet location and very comfortable. The staff were young and cheerful and willing to help/chat. We enjoyed our meals. It was a homely, welcoming place and we hope to go again next Spring.
Cons: Cannot think of anything
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I have stayed at about 60 hotels this year - and this was the best so far. This is how a hotel should be run if you want to encourage return custom, and its easy to see why this hotel has been awarded several Hotel awards including Best Scottish Boutique Hotel. On arrival, I was obviously looking a bit tired and so without hesitation, the staff member who was booking me in took the decision to place me in the main hotel - with a fantastic room as he felt I would be more comfortable. Brilliant service. He politely asked if I would be eating and for once I did take him up on the offer. Ordinarily I tend to eat away from the hotel as I find Hotel food pretty average if booking within my budget. This though - I have to admit was a massive surprise. The Chef is clearly aware that they produce some great food - using local produce. I had fish - perfectly cooked with veg that tasted of veg! everything was very well presented and the staff again were very aware of how to look after their guests without being overbearing. The bar is small but very well stocked - lots of local Gin and decent supply of anything you care for including Ale ( in bottles) from local breweries. Breakfast - I always use as a test - poached eggs - again were perfect and not a hint of vinegar. I cant really recommend this place enough. I've already advised friends in my industry who may be travelling up there to stay here. There is a cool BBQ area outside and some great views over the estuary when its clear. Gardens are filled with lots to explore for the kids, including a decent climbing tree house area. I will always find an excuse to come back - a great find, and the crazy thing is it was only about £10 more expensive than the disaster of a place I stayed at the night before and its as cheap as those Purple and Blue overnight chains ! My daughters want to go there as it looks like a fairy castle ! - So its an old building with a really comfortable feel.
Cons: There is nothing not to like about this place - other than the fact its a long way up from Bath !!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Absolutely loved it all Highly recommended
Cons: All perfect
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Like going into a small castle. The staff was very friendly . The food was very good especially our dinner in the evening. Salmon was perfectly cooked. The decor and grounds were beautiful. Enjoyed the fireplaces. We were only there one night ,unfortunately , so didn’t get to explore the area.
Cons: Nothing to say here..all good.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Welcoming staff, lovely room, lovely breakfast. Cosy bar with log fire.
Cons: No fresh coffee with breakfast, early check out.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Stunning and unique hotel. The grounds were sweet and enchanting. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful and the food was good quality.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Free parking as part of the hotel a real bonus these days especially in Dundee where it is generally difficult and can be £10 a night.. The excellent breakfast is wide ranging with a buffet and freshly cooked options. The staff are excellent, polite and very helpful
Cons: To be honest although the breakfast was good, we found the restaurant for an evening meal disappointing with a limited choice. Although to be fair what we had was well cooked. Otherwise it would have been a 10.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beds very comfortable !!!!
Cons: Room right at lift door practically, bit noisy.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful . Breakfast had great variety. Massage by Rachel in spa was excellent.
Cons: Decor and carpets very dated . Spa dated also could do with more comfort features. Reception could have more comfy couches and chairs.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Superb location, excellent facilities and really friendly helpful staff.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff , they were very helpful, and nice with it.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 8.0
Pros: All of the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. Many of the staff smiled in the passing. Enjoyed use of the swimming pool. Bedroom and bathroom seemed newly refurbished. Modern and calm.
Cons: Husband found bathroom mirror too far way when shaving. I found it easier to put on my make up at big mirror in bedroom but lighting too low. Had to ask for bathrobes and shower cap. One bathrobe arrived but had to ask again for other one and shower cap. A minor criticism of really no importance because we were looked after extremely well.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Loved the staff. Rooms very clean. Just a lovely place to stay. Easy walk to the new V&A.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Pool and spa facilities
Cons: Breakfast expensive

Okay 5.4
Pros: Very little. Bed comfy enough.
Cons: Firstly its advertised as a hotel on booking.com when it's actually a guest house/b&b. Check in was no frills nor smiles. Room was adequate but of relatively cheap looking furniture. Bed was comfy though. Bathroom only had one towel for 2 guests...couldn't find the owner when we realised at about 10pm. Shower door was swinging loose from its roller track. Breakfast was a huge disappointment....bacon incinerated, yet everything else seriously undercooked (toast, sausage, poached eggs, tomatoes etc).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean, comfortable, well presented, adequately appointed, complete tea and coffee, biscuits tray, complimentary bottle of water-all room and en-suite facilities in working order, well maintained and decorated
Cons: I didn’t find out about it till after I had stayed at a well known city hotel that charged more for significantly lower quality accommodation.
Good 7.5
Pros: Large room and great food
Cons: Feather duvet
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Loved the art deco furniture. Staff very friendly. Nice big room. Plenty of refreshments in the room. Very quiet. Close to the university and has plenty of parking. A lovely hotel.
Cons: A little far out from town but about 30 minutes walk and plenty of busses during the day.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very clean.

Cons: No fridge provided.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great hotel, great food and friendly staff
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Excellent dinner and breakfast. Very comfortable room, free parking
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was lovely and clean with a small desk area and more than enough plugs to charge phones and laptop. A nice selection of hot drinks and shortbread was nice. The bed was comfortable and the tv was a good size. Food in the restaurant was delicious and very filling, both when I had dinner and breakfast. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
Cons: The wifi wasn't that great. I don't know if it was due to the location of my room or its general reliability, but my phone would lose connection now and then. On my laptop, it seemed a little slow loading some pages but it was free wifi so can't complain too much.
