St Leonards Vineyard Cottages - Blenheim - Building
1
9.6 Excellent (184 reviews)
Overview Reviews
St Leonards, with five self contained cottages, is an original old farm homestead (circa 1886), a good example of early New Zealand colonial architecture, located in a rural and private setting with century-old walnut, gum and elm trees, and now surrounded by vineyards. Stroll around the garden and lemon grove, enjoy a game of tennis in the grass court, play croquet or petanque, relax in the swimming pool, or hire a bike for a ride around the vineyard region.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The environment - surrounded by vineyads, farm animals, citrus trees which are heavyly fruiting now. Quiet, and being upgraded to the stables, which means we are close to the super friendly sheeps, chickens and on our own. Loves the breakfast provided.
Cons: I'd prefer tea/coffee not in individual wrapping.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the WoolShed. It was very warm and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The small farm with sheep, alpacas and chickens and the surrounding vineyards were very peaceful and beautiful. We had a great time!
Cons: The pillows on the bed were not very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property close to all the great wineries of the Marlborough region. The cottage accommodation was very comfortable. Roomy lounge and well equipt kitchen, luxury furnishings and country style decor features. Windows overlooked both a magnificent vineyard and farmland landscape. Breakfast was classic NZ hospitality, generous and delicious, with fresh eggs from the farm. We spent a wet day indoors and made great use of the cosy warm comforts of this sweet cottage. The farm animals were adorable and ran to be petted. Animals accommodation looked ideal too, which speaks volumes of the hosts.
Cons: Zero to add
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very nice and welcoming. They answer all your questions, gave recommendations for places to visit in the neighborhood.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This was our second visit to St. Leonards and will not be our last. Staying on a small farm in the heart of Marlborough wine country is an incredible experience. The hosts are friendly and helpful, the cottages quaint and rustic, and the farm animals charming and friendly. We used the grills for cooking dinner, the hot tub for relaxing after a long day, and at fruit straight off their trees.
Cons: If you are expecting a 5 star luxury experience, this isn't it. This is a farm, and as such there are animals, bugs, and mud. People who are looking for a white linen experience need not book.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location. Really enjoyed our stay here. Hosts were wonderful people with great local knowledge. Would stay again!
9.2 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peace and quiet, lovely setting, good bed, beautiful breakfast ingredients, helpful hosts.
Cons: There is nothing not to like at St Leonard Cottages
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The cottage was located right where all the good wineries are. The property is beautiful and the owners are very friendly, they provided breakfast to us(we have to cook), free range eggs from their chickens and home made variety of jams(made by Michelle)so YUMMY, plus orange juice, milk, variety of breads and cereal. We did stay in a queen room because the other cottages were booked, but it was good.
Cons: Although we had a private bathroom, we found a bit too small for us, but overall was OK.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful cottage and grounds, wonderful hosts, fire place

Pros: Right in the middle of all the wineries. Easy driving or riding. Spacious rooms, large bathroom. Amazing views across the vineyards. Very quiet and peaceful. Sky Pay Tv in rooms. Across the road from vines village - cafe, wine tasting and lunchtime restaurant.
Cons: Not sure if it was low season or change of management recently, but that staff we were exposed to felt inexperienced in what is expected of a fine dining and high end accomodation location. Especially when it is marketed that way. Communication was lacking, restaurant service felt lacklustre and overall it didn’t have the level service we expected from the previous exceptional reviews.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything met our expectations and was exactly what we wanted

Pros: A great hotel - rooms were great - very spacious, comfortable beds, heated floors in bathroom were a win and a little kitchen was handy. Restaurant served delicious food and location was great- close to all the wineries.
Cons: Construction was going on while we were there (winter) so there were no views of vineyards as advertised but I am sure by summer there will be!

Pros: The location was ideal for 1 night before heading to the airport, it was a straight run for about 6 minutes by car. We could also walk into town along the riverside walkway which took about 15 minutes.
Cons: We were surprised there was no kitchen sink, but we did not need it anyway.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall everything was great. Bed was comfortable, room was well laid out, excellent shower, everything I could possibly want was provided.
Cons: Only thing I didn't like is they had a sign saying hang your towels up and we will leave them thereby saving water, power and being more environmentally friendly which I did and they changed the towels anyway. As I was only staying two days I would have been perfectly happy using the same towels.

Pros: Not much over rated.

This never happen when we arrived the the afternoon receptionist was rude and told us we have what we booked. Was to late to cancel by this time.

7.5 Good
Pros: Like the location and staff are friendly and helpful
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and the room was very spacious. The full blackout curtains in the room were great, I woke up and didn't even realise it was 8:30am. The hotel is located on a main road, but noise is not an issue. I had dinner in the restaurant and was very impressed by the menu and the meals, the halloumi was delicious.
Cons: The hotel is on a main road and is annoying to get to with a suitcase, if walking from Blenheim town centre. The apple pie was clearly store bought and disappointing. No one was available to take my breakfast order, I started eating cereal and was then told because of this, I couldn't order a cooked breakfast. The hot water takes awhile to start and the shower has very weak pressure. The hotel is currently a bit tired but it is being upgraded in 2020.
