8.0 Excellent
Pros: My room was lovely - quality furnishings, sufficient space, nice view.
Cons: I was very surprised to be charged an extra $35 for "facilities fee", including taxes. This is not a resort so I don't understand why it would charge a high "facilities fee".
8.0 Excellent
Pros:
Cons: No bells and whistles. This was much more like your standard, mid-grade Marriott than a 4-star experience. No fluffy robes, slippers, turn-down service, etc.

Pros: This hotel is wonderfully clean and comfortable. Everyone is genuinely kind and helpful.
Cons:
5.0 Okay
Pros:
Cons: There was nearly $35 in hotel fees that I wasnt aware of when I booked the room. It came as a surprise when I checked out the next morning. Apparently it was for coffee and pastry in the lobby and WiFi. I didnt want either. Waste of money.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Pros: Location Staff is wonderful Rooms are large and comfortable for San Francisco
Cons: Cons: The Bistro is awful, did not try the restaurant Weird position for shower activation, have to actually be in the shower to turn it on........BRRR. The closet is about 12" wide, so this is not the place to stay for a long time
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great!
Cons: Understand being charged for internet and coffee/muffins, but if breakfast runs until 9:30 then there should be coffee and muffins available at 9:15. I let the front desk know and waited 15 minutes to no avail.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location
Cons: The rooms are outdated and its not a 5 star hotel. Its a 4 star hotel

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very clean, and staff was very nice.
Cons: I think the prices for the property are way out of line; ridiculously high. While the hotel is lovely, San Francisco does not have a reputation any more for an attractive city. the city is seedy, and most advise against walking around the neighbourhood. Prices this high would be more appropriate in a location where you can enjoy the location.

Pros: It's history and location made it our runaway first choice. It lived up to its 5 star reputation starting with check in.
Cons: It's an old building; you come up steps to get to the front door. A modern building would have a ramp. But, a ramp would ruin the looks. So you put up with a cumber some handling of your luggage.

Pros: The location was excellent (literally 2 steps off Union Square and a cable car stop), and the hotel had a nice vintage vibe. I enjoyed my pleasant and clean room, the amenities provided and the impeccable housekeeping. Coffee and a wide selection of teas were available in the lobby, which was not an issue at all, contrary to what some other guests had said in their reviews. The hotel is located in a busy part of the centre, so there was a lot of white noise coming from the outside, but closing the windows at night would solve the problem completely.

Pros: The location
Cons: We had booked the hotel for 3 nights, checking out for 1 night then another booking for 2 nights. The hotel would not oblige by looking after our 2 pieces of luggage for the one night before we checked in again. This has never happened at other hotels we have stayed in around the world. We subsequently cancelled our second booking and stayed with another hotel who were more than happy to hold our luggage for the one night before we checked in.

Cons: The location is okay very close to different MUNI and BART options. But it's very much a downtown, business district setting so not the best views of the city.

Pros: Clean rooms. Convenient location in downtown San Francisco.
Cons: The hotel presents itself to be a resort facility and charges accordingly including a resort fee but there are few if any resort features to it. There is no pool or hot tub no view of any sort except going outside, no breakfast available. The rooms are small and it shows that they have been carved out of an old apartment (or office) complex. They have expresso machines in the rooms in place of coffee makers we found them difficult to get them to work.

Pros: Great location (in the hear of San Fran) quiet for a hostel yet always busy. Price for a room is a really catch these days.
Cons: My booking reference did not appear in their system, but the staff was really friendly and set me up with the same price and room just by looking to my reference.

Pros:
Cons: Everything was OK, but then, my camera case with SD card with big part of my precious pictures mysteriously disappeared. I asked for help, but it wasn't successful. That is real disaster for me.

Pros: the location is perfect, honestly the homelessness problem wasn’t even bad. the staff were super helpful!
Cons: the windows are very old, so they might rattle at night.

Pros: The room was comfy, the bedding was great. I appreciated the ease of asking for and receiving extra bedding. Thank you
Cons: I would only recommend non dairy bagel toppings beyond peanut butter and other fruit. Mirror in the shower room would be great.

Pros: Good location; near a good diner and many restaurants. Helpful staff. I love the area of hot tea at the ground floor and the corridor with a wooden bench in front of my room.
Cons: They offered the same kind of food for breakfast every single day for 9 days! Because of too many guests, sometimes the toilets couldn't be kept clean. The elevator just could go to a single floor at a time.

Pros: The lady at reception was very friendly and we quickly registered at 1.30 in the morning
Cons: Noisy neighbors on our floor one night woke us up screaming . Room had a very nice view Elevators are very slow at peak periods one can. Wait for an extremely long time Breakfast prices are way too high. Didn’t eat there after first day
7.0 Good
Pros: Newly refurbished rooms.
Cons: The doors between rooms are acoustically transparent. The walls are also thin between rooms. I had to call security twice because of noisy neighbors. This seems to be such a recurring problem that the hotel provides earplugs next to the bed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is the best. Just a minute walk to Union Square where all the shops and stores are surrounded. Starbucks and CVS are opposite the hotel. Walkable to China Town and Financial District. The staff is always attentive and helpful. The room is spacious.
Cons: The room was not that clean. The stain on the side table by the bed remained there until I checked out. The amenities i.e. cotton buds was not filled in the bathroom when they are all gone. The slippers, toothbrushes and toothpaste were not provided unless asked for. There is dust showing on top of the leather tissue box in the bathroom everyday. The lighting could have been brighter in the room.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Unfriendly staff, room not worth the price
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect Location, friendly staff, and good beds. We had a great stay.
Cons: Windows need to be changed / fixed, so in case of strong wind they don’t make so much noise! Kept me awake during our 1st night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendly staff.
Cons: The TV in my room did not work, despite having it replaced.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location is amazing. It is a very clean and updated hotel. The view from out room was great as well.
Cons: It was extremely frustrating to stay at a hotel that was so crowded. We upgraded to use the "club" and couldnt even use it at night since there were no chairs at all. For breakfast, they ran out of food. Elevators took 25 minutos (including waiting time and going down while stopping at each-single-floor, from the 28th). Having a child with autism these are factors that for us and I am sure for every trouble are important. Plus, I saw how a person who came on my same elevator to check out complained and got a reimbursement, while I didnt even get an apology! :P

Pros: The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of San Fransisco. The room was clean and had all the facilities listed in the description.
Cons: The description is booking.com mentioned "parking" as an option but I didn't realize it is paid. I had to pay a very high amount for parking for the first night, and then I decided to move the car to a cheaper parking location nearby for the next two days. The checkout experience was also not good. I met a front desk staff member in advance and she agreed to provide me a late check-out at 12noon, however on the day of checking-out the same staff member said there was no prior agreement and I need to check-out at-least by 11.30am which was an unpleasant experience.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and their service was very good. When I arrived at the hotel, my room was not ready to check in. So they emailed me after the room was ready. Also, my room's light bulb burned out on the first night. However, they changed it for me immediatly. The hotel is located in a very convenient place, so easy to access any place in the town. Also the room was very cozy with a confortable bed and a cute bath tub.

Pros: When we pulled up I fell in love with the front of the hotel. It is a true little boutique hotel right in the heart of everything next to the cable cars. Cons: SF has changed. A lot of homeless by Union Square (not a problem for the visitor per se, though, sad to see). Cost of living high in SF. Would avoid rent a car if you can. None of this hotel related, just general info for the traveler going to SF.

Pros: Good location.
Cons: Room was cramped, no vanity in bathroom to set my items (makeup, etc) on. In fact there was barely any place to put a towel. The bathrooms were very odd shaped and were not designed with a woman’s needs in mind. The window balcony was neat, but I questioned how safe it was and if an intruder could easily gain access to my room through there.

Pros: Location, staff, cleanliness, bed comfort, amenities
Cons: Like most people have said the toilet is really close to the sink but with an old building small rooms/restrooms are expected. Really the most disappointing thing was that the remote for the TV did not work correctly which isn't really that bad of athing

Pros: Friendly staff, we were able to check in early, and we got a beautiful corner room with windows all around.
Cons: Even on the 7th floor there was a lot of outside noise. There was also noise from the room beside us. You'll have that in a hotel and if it got any worse I could have called the front desk to ask the neighbors to quiet down.
7.0 Good
Pros: Central location Breakfast Large TV Large room
Cons: Homeless people close to hotel, but it's a general problem in SF. I was a solo female returning from concert one night around 11PM and didn't feel scared going from metro station to the hotel (I didn't bring my purse or anything valuable though). I liked that hotel has a check during night hours so you have to show your room card in order to enter the hotel. It would be even better if you couldn't enter the elevator without your room key. Noise - windows provide no isolation, corner rooms seem to be worse since they are completely covered in windows. Fridge is also noisy, so I unplugged it. I had to sleep with earplugs anyway due to street noise. Heating - very cold room, as soon as you turn off the heater, room gets cold in matter of minutes. I had to keep the heater on almost entire time including entire night (it's the one which pushes warm air in the room so the air was quite dry during my entire stay). I did try the other heating type in two different hotels before but radiators were loud and couldn't even heat up the room, so it seems like this type of heating is still better but I hope I don't have to stay in SF during winter days in the future.
5.8 Okay

Cons: The room was not clean. I had to clean the bathroom before I could use it.

Cons: If i were to be really picky, the hotel is definitely a little dated, but I thought it was still plenty clean and comfortable. It looked nicer in person than it did in the pictures.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the fact that it had so much history and it was modernized. Very colorful!
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and friendly. It was located in a great area. I would happily stay again.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed in a lot of different hotels in downtown SF and really like this location. About halfway between the business district and Union Square.
Cons: I like everything about the hotel and room, including the Jack Kerouac wallpaper. My only issue is that the window-mounted a/c unit in my room was a bit loud.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location!
Cons: The room was dated and could use some upgrades.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: Tinny rooms and tiny bathroom
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little hotel, great location and lovely interiors.
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Pros: OMG!! The showers! Being tall and finding a shower that doesn't spray you at the waist or chest is a challenge! The shower was perfect
Cons: I didn't want to leave! The only really small thing I didn't Ike was finding the room was a slight challenge. That could be I didn't look really good the signs lol
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect to see all key attractions in SF. Staff went out of the way to make sure we were comfortable and had great recommendations.
Cons: Room was a little worn, but staff and location made up for this.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was clean. Room was comfortable but it’s expensive for what you get. Doesn’t have a gym. Location was great. It was irritating to wait at reception for service. If someone is there you have to wait log time before u get helped, as there is only one receptionist. Very inconvenient. They were never in any hurry to help you
Cons: Long wait at reception
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great and the staff was extremely friendly and helpfull.
Cons:
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is in a great location, right next to China Town. Great food nearby and a wonderful staff.
Cons: The rooms are small and the hotel is old, but it has been remodeled to be very trendy.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: We were able to check in early and check out late, which gave us a lot of flexibility. The staff was very professional and helpful. The location is great. The rooms are smaller than today’s hotels, but typical of older buildings—especially in San Francisco. We’ll absolutely stay there again.
Cons: The shower could use a revamp. The floor pan was old and chipped in a lot of places and the shower door (though new) had issues with the track and wouldn’t close completely.
