Pros: The room has a very hip vibe that is a hit with my kids ages 12-17. They love it! The hotel is just a block away from the cable car when we came back from a night at the downtown area. No hassle when we went around SF downtown and back. It is also within the activities from the pier. It is far enough from the main noise but near enough for a few minutes walk. Very accessible to all the great restaurants and activities around the area.

Cons: Paying for parking amd not the most helpful for helping with luggage. Check-in attendant was not the most friendly. View from room was odd - it was looking right at another room. Not quite a courtyard just a small square that looks at other rooms.

Cons: We did not have hot water the first morning however it was fixed when we got back to the hotel later in the afternoon. The concierge staff could have been better- they suggested an Italian place for dinner that had terrible reviews- - im glad I checked ahead. We also asked about bars and nightlife and she sent us to broadway street which is full of strip clubs- didn't see many bars- after the fact we figured out that we should have been closer to the beach on the same street. They lacked knowledge of the areas, I know it's a big city but they should be familiar with areas to send tourists.

Cons: I was told that the remodel had changed the layout and contents of the rooms. As a result, I reserved a room with room for four people and arrived to a room that would sleep two. The issue was resolved with rollaway beds (the room was quite large), but that could cause problems for other people.

Pros: The price point and location were great. The staff was always kind and greated us. It was nice and clean. So was the general location of the hotel. Some other "high end" hotels in the financial district for instance suffer from ridiculous pricing ,and you get to watch homeless at close range.
Cons: The beds were terrible ,imagine the Grand Canyon combined with the Marianas trench. Rooms very spartan and bland.

Pros: I loved the comfortable bed, the cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff. We had stayed at another location the night before which was so terrible, that I was online looking for a hotel and fortunately found the Marriott. They were able to accommodate us and turned our potentially awful weekend into a great success. I wish we would have found Marriott earlier.

Cons: All of the addtional fees for parking and "resort fees". Granted we got a deal on the cost of the room, so we're not complaining too much but the actual cost of the rooms are very expensive and then to add over $150 of addtional fees when checking out is a little crazy.
But, overall, we would be willing to stay here in the future, if we make it to the west coast again.

Cons: Our room wasn't cleaned very well. There was hair on the walls in the bathroom. A dog biscuit on the floor and the carpets were dingy and needed a deep cleaning. While it was a nice hotel it was very expensive for the accommodations you received.

The neighborhood is very touristy, which means the restaurants aren't great, nor is the shopping, but it's close to some tourist attractions if that's the purpose of your visit. The outdoor pool and spa were an added bonus! The hotel also offered laundry machines on each floor which was nice (though detergent should be included in the cost!).
The room itself was very clean, comfortable and modern. There were USB plugs and big, bright windows as well as an ottoman for lounging while working. The included wifi isn't super fast, but can be upgraded if needed.

Cons: But they were so understaffed. We checked in at 430pm and did not receive our crib for the baby until close to 10pm! We had to call them once to remind and I had to remind them at the counter when I came back from the store. We also added some items for them to bring up like baby shampoo and toothpaste, etc. when housekeeping came up at 930pm, he only brought the small items. I asked about the pack and play and he said they never told him. I assumed he was going to ring our toothpaste and the bedding for the baby, no. They didn't tell him about the toothpaste either!!!!! He had to come back twice!!! It was late and waaaaay past the kids bedtime. Sooooo annoying. The ladies at the counter made it seem like they would take care of everything but they didn't. One of them even asked me about the crib check in. Very disappointed.

Cons: I requested the earliest possible check in time, and after my flight landed on the day of check in, the Hotel text me and said that I couldn't check in until after 3pm. I didn't have a rental car so I had to drag my luggage around downtown SF. I also requested to have a room with a view and a room on the highest floor possible. I was put on the 3rd floor with a window facing the hotels interior roof top. Zero view. There were large cobwebs above the bathroom door frame, the top sheet of my bed was yellowed on the underside and there were a few small stain marks on the sheets that were either wine, juice, or blood. King size bed was not comfortable at all. I HATE the hotels TV/entertainment system. The remote has a rollerball to control a mouse on the screen that is so small you can't read it unless you are sitting in the chair at the desk. Least user-friendly system I've ever used in a hotel. It's like you are watching tv through the computer's "tv application". Really strange.

Cons: It was a little strange to have a window in my room that looked out on the hallway, though it was useful since the room got a bit stuffy with it closed. The mornings were a little loud with everyone waking up and using the bathrooms and showers, even with that window closed (hence the earplugs, I suppose).

Cons: the room was just so incredibly TINY! barely had room to move around the bed, which would not have been so bad if there were at least some sort of desk or table to sit at, or a lounge area in the hotel that had a table and chairs (there were several couch-type areas but nothing that could double as a desk). I was travelling for work, and could not really do much at all at the hotel.

Again, I did not expect this clean of a room for that close to $200 in this area. Would stay here again if asked to.

We could hear traffic, sirens, and even people talking outside on the street at all hours. Two homeless people on the sidewalk had a loud argument at 5 a.m. regarding a space they wanted to claim for the day to solicit donations and we could hear them quite well. In the room next to us we could overhear their conversations even though they weren't talking loudly. The walls must be rather thin!

It was very annoying!

Cons: The parking garage experience was AWFUL. very narrow and low ceilings, with many poles in the way that made it very hard to maneuver. I drove a friend's Ford Explorer which ended up getting multiple dents and scratches from hitting the poles to avoid hitting other cars. If you have a van or truck, DO NOT sTAY HERE. The extra money I saved by staying here ended up costing $500+ in damage repairs.
Also, the night staff at the hotel was rude and unhelpful.

Pros: Our stay at Hotel Zephyr was great! We booked a King Bed w/ balcony room for two nights and had absolutely no complains! Our balcony was waterfront and faced the fisherman's wharf as well as had a direct view of Alcatraz. The room was very clean, spacious, and had all the amenities we needed. The staff at the hotel were all very helpful as well as provided us with coupons for restaurants and activities. We really enjoyed the location and our entire stay at Hotel Zephyr.

Cons: The food choices at the hotel. The camper is touted as having food that is locally sourced and fresh, but when we looked at the menu, the only choices were personal pizzas and one soup. We got the pizzas and we're not impressed.

What a joke, we were so uncomfortable all night and the bed sloped downward toward the head of the bed so the blood was rushing to our head while we slept. Cons: There really weren't hardly any complains about hotel Zephyr minus a few small ammenities. We would've liked to have had a microwave in our room but it wasn't really an inconvenience anyhow. The gym was a little small and could've used some more equipment but again, wasn't a big inconvenience at all.

Cons: I wish I didn't upgrade my room. Not sure what my original room would have been like, but the only thing I liked about the room I upgraded to was seeing the bay. But there was black hair on the bathroom hair which I assume was from the maids or people who stayed before me. There were two things left behind from the people before, so it made me question how clean the room really was. I didn't sleep well because of where the room was located. I could hear the outside door to the stairwell open and slam shut. A group of people tried getting into my room because the front desk gave them the wrong room number. Overall I was disappointed and if I knew it would have been this way I could have saved myself some money.

2. I was never informed I would be charged an additional$100 on the day of our check-in. I saw the charge on my online visa statement and told only after my inquiry. Since there were no damages to the room, I should expect a refund in a few days. My experience has been that possilbe extra charges are done after check-out and NOT on the day of check-in.

4. A $51 charge for underground parking because of the high rate of car break-ins so I parked there, only to find they also have overnight parking in the gated registration lot but told the price is the same???? Likely or another way to charge more???? No transparency.

Cons: We walked into our room and decided to check the beds before we went to sleep because we heard of bed bugs at this hotel. And to our surprise we found a condom! We called the front desk and they sent up a security guard (not a manager, which was weird). They switched our room but offered no other accommodations. After we called to complain they said they couldn't do anything more than they did...they also mentioned they would call us back and never did. Not a good experience.... I can understand a messy room, maybe a cigarette but an open condom on the bed is unacceptable.

Last Tuesday I woke up with a cold and couldn't have the radiation. My husband called the hotel as soon as the doctor canceled the treatment. He asked if we could move the reservation to the next Tuesday. He was told we could but last night we were charged much more than the cost of the initial reservation. Had we known that in advance, we would found another hotel. I have 5 more treatments but we will not be spending the night at this hotel.

Pros: We stayed here for one night, it was perfectly located and the staff were all very friendly. I really loved that they had normal sized towels, not the typical little ones that great elsewhere. The breakfast was also well served, some bacon would have been nice but hardly problematic that is wasn't there.
Cons: I think every hotel now days should have a USB charging hub but at the very minimum somewhere convenient to plug in your phone, Ipad and computer. This place only had one visible spare plug which was in the middle of a wall a nowhere near the desk. It also was very lose so that it was hard to get the plug to stay in the wall.
Sadly though, this is more typical everywhere you stay.

Pros:
Cons: I am very upset with this hotel. We booked this hotel for our mini honeymoon in San Francisco. We booked and were guaranteed a king bed. Upon arrival we were told that we had Queens. I showed them my reservation that clearly stated that we booked a king. The front desk clerks were very rude. They didn't seem to care that our reservation said king. They said they gave our room away. Thanks for ruining our honeymoon.
After a while they offered us free parking which was nice... but it was after I threatened to leave.
The hotel is gross and not like the photos. Our bathroom was filthy and the toilet paper was on the floor.
The bed was actually decent- but NOT A KING.
I will definitely be spreading the word that you should not waste your money on this hotel. Perhaps if they would have showed some sympathy to our situation I'd feel different.

Pros: Very clean & staff very friendly. Helped with navigating the city. Bus stop out the door was very convenient. Large basic room with desk. Nice looking pool & deck but rained so didn't get to use pool. Breakfast included with cereal, waffles, yogurt & pastries.
Cons: Large room so would have liked a small couch or reading chair for more comfortable seating. Not the fastest elevator but only 5 floors so no big deal.

Pros: The staff were extremely nice and helpful. We came in pretty late and they advised places that we could go and eat that were near by. They held our bags the next day while we explored San Francisco. Our flight didn't leave until 10pm. I would stay here again.
Cons: The rooms had a musty smell. But I think it's just the building

Cons: Because of the architecture of the building, in order to get to my 5th floor room, I had to go to the 4th floor, walk around the building, and take a different elevator to the 5th floor.

Cons: No A/C. I had to open the windows to cool my room down, and then the traffic was too loud to enjoy watching television.

Cons: The included breakfast was very basic. There was sandwich bread (next to a toaster), hard boiled eggs, yogurt, a few bananas and orange juice.

Lukewarm shower - will get hot one if the water is run about 10 minutes or so, per front desk - but didn't know this for the first morning:(
Not enough towels (no washcloths/bath towels)
Solutions: Front desk was great about giving me everything I needed. Got initially second blanket -almost slept well and then W/3rd blanket slept better. Wall heater nonfunctional. Whoever cleans the room does not replace the towels - just takes the used ones away. Continental breakfast: ok, didn't see the hard boiled eggs first day as the are on shelf below eye level.

Pros: The room was relatively clean.
Cons: The carpet in the hallway was about 2000 years old. It was extremely dirty that I wanted to throw up. There was no ironing board or iron in the room so if you're here for a meeting that will be a problem. There was no parking so if you rent a car, you will have to drive around and around to find parking. There are other motels and inn within couple blocks and those have parking. There was no thermostat in the room so you can't control temperature in your room. I would go somewhere else if I has known how it was before I came.
