Pros: Nice rooms. Polite staff. Nice bathrooms. Everything worked without an issue.
Cons: At Reservation, called the 800 number. I was told they only had two suites available. No rooms. Two minutes later, I went on Kayak and booked two rooms with no issue. Service was in no way exceptional. It was a little irritating that bell desk couldn't get cab. Food/bar is terrible Surcharge for internet access is ludicrous

Pros: Very friendly staff, great service. The access to Equinox is fabulous! Prime, prime location--the best!!
Cons: In-room dining is awful. I had breakfast twice, and was severely disappointed at the outrageous price for the poor, poor quality of every aspect of the food--coffee is burnt and thick like mud, toast burnt, side vegetables unbelievably expensive with NO quality. The fresh orange juice is good. And that's it. Otherwise, the hotel is just wonderful.
"This family-friendly San Francisco hotel is located in the entertainment district, within a 5-minute walk of SHN Curran Theatre, Westfield San Francisco Centre and Warfield Theater. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Orpheum Theater are also within 15 minutes. Powell St & O'Farrell St Stop and Market St & 5th St Stop are within a 5-minute walk. "

Pros: **keep in mind, review is for guests who didn't park at all** Shower is by far the best of the hotels I have stayed at. The room was clean (but small, true to San Fran /Japanese style). Bed was also very comfortable. TV was small (~42 inches) but had a nice stand that could be angled alnost 180 degrees. Cleaning staff was very thorough and even organized our toilet trees for us that we left on the sink (I thought this was cool, others may see it differently). Overall clean and fancy facilities, nice staff. Good location in reference to Union Square.
Cons: We witnessed someone getting beat up by at least 4 individuals in an ally right across the street from the hotel. We still didn't feel unsafe in the hotel or around San Francisco, but maybe we should have? Other hotels wouldn't be immune to this problem either (to my best estimate). $6 waters in the room. No prices in the gift shop (yes I can afford it, but maybe I don't get the chips for $2.5 and just go for the $3.50 water instead or go to Starbucks that is attached to the hotel for $2 waters).

Pros: I loved the service. The staff were great. It was a bit quieter than expected too. Nice, expensive, but nice.

Pros: I stayed at the Nikko Hotel for one night during the Nike Women's Half Marathon. Not only was a beautiful, and luxurious hotel but it was also in the perfect location in Union Square for the Nike Women's Half Marathon and Expotique. The customer service was phenomenal and they even extended check out for NWM participants. This was great because it enabled us to shower before our journey home. Thank you Nikko Hotel for such top notch accommodations! I will definitely stay here again next year!

Pros: The bathroom was nice with shower and tub. The indoor pool and Hot Tub were great for relaxing after visiting the sites. There was $25 per room charge for use of the pool/hot tub but this was small price to pay for this feature.
Cons: Aggressive panhandlers all over the city.

8.5
Pros: The room was smaller than what I'm used to, but very comfortable. The bed was plush, with high-quality bedding. Good shower and toiletries, fast elevators, comfortable lobby
Cons: The walls are quite thin, and because the toilets are vacuum toilets, they are louder than average toilets, and you can hear everyone flushing. The bathroom door is also a stylish (but not noise-blocking) glass barn door, so if you are sharing the room with someone, they will hear everything that is happening in the bathroom. There is a $25 fee to use the gym and pool, which I was not aware of when I booked the room.

Pros: I liked that we were able to find a great place on such short notice. The Manager on Duty, I think her name was Susan, was very helpful after one of the reservation agent accidentally mixed up our checkout time- and another Agent Brandon wasn't very kind to us. I ate most of my meals at the hotel, breakfast lunch and dinner- and I had three different bartender/servers during my stay that were all so very pleasant. Some even gave me directions to buy a hoodie at a nearby store because I didn't realize it would be colder there this time of year still. And the chef made me an awesome salad when I wanted to exchange tuna for chicken on the salad that comes with Lemon Dressing- it was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend this substitution as the combination of greens and dressing go amazing with Tuna! It will cost you 2 dollars more as Tuna is more expensive (rightfully so) but it I ate the entire thing. I couldn't stop myself.
Cons: Other than the mixup on our checkout time- I was happy with my stay overall.

With a name like the Argonaut, it's impossible not to speak of this hotel in grand, almost legendary terms. Inspired by the Greek legend and Gold Rush-era adventurers, it's one of those rare places in San Francisco that truly merits a term like iconic. Located in the historic Haslett Warehouse, the Argonaut's home is a grand building built in 1907 of exposed brick, Douglas Fir beams and so much seaside character; you feel as though you can almost reach out and touch the colorful Barbary Coast past here. Our boutique hotel is also celebrated for an unsurpassed level of 4-Diamond service and amenities that provide an unforgettable destination experience. Couple that with a positively perfect location at San Francisco's most famous address: perched on the edge of the Bay at Fisherman's Wharf, and it’s easy to see why the hotel is so coveted. A recipient of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award for five years running.

Pros: The room has a very hip vibe that is a hit with my kids ages 12-17. They love it! The hotel is just a block away from the cable car when we came back from a night at the downtown area. Pros: Very luxurious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the management. When things went wrong, they were accommodating to benefit me for the inconveniences.
Cons: Upon checking in, they didn't have our room available until the next day. Not sure how that even happens, but after talking to the manager, he miraculously was able to get our room. I had an allergic reaction to the laundry detergent they use on the bed sheets and my eyes swelled up. I was told that if you have allergies, you need to call in advance to make sure they wash the bedding with hyper-allergenic detergent (they normally use Dawn). For the inconveniences, they did comp me my room service.

Pros: Luxurious surroundings and a historic San Francisco location. Quiet rooms and very friendly staff. The Tonga Room on-site is great, the room service food was good, and the gym looked nice.
Cons: The pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. I had to abandon them halfway through the night and just sleep without. I also noticed a lack of the sort of amenities one might expect in a luxury hotel of this caliber—no bathrobes, WiFi was an extra charge, etc. Hard not to feel a little nickel-and-dimed which didn’t seem in keeping with the luxury atmosphere.

Pros: I originally was trying to book this hotel via the QANTAS website however they had problems, so I rang the hotel direct and they were most helpful. Not only did they book me in, but they beat the original price and converted it for me to $AUD for my small brain. I drove to SFO from LAX - on arrival bell hop service was excellent, didn't miss any bags or jackets that were in my car. Stayed in the main building - Fairmont Queen room Clean and tidy Free WiFi BathTub Excellent staff Late checkout Food selection and room service Tonga room is a must see Location very central to anywhere you'd like to be in SFO
Cons: The main building although grand, is a little dated. The refurbished rooms are good, but the particular room I was in the door didn't fully open because the wall gets in the way, so for room service the trolley couldn't be wheeled in, food had to be carried in from the door, and there wasn't really any table to put the food on, only the writing desk or the fold out mini bar. I had to call for slippers

Pros: Downtown you're close to everything and the hotel view was amazing.
Cons: You're still downtown, so you walk out and it's a lot of homeless and the streets smell of urine, bad. The hotel staff is in no hurry for anything. Toom service took 1.5-2 hours and we even had a package delivered and they never bothered to bring it up. After three hours we told them forget it we'll get it ourselves. Cleaning staff is super nice. They were doing construction there so don't bother trying to nap during the day, because they were jack hammering the lobby. For the money I think there's better.

Pros: The room was a perfect size, bathroom is kind of small and dated but the view was incredible and the staff was amazing. We had an issue with something called casting where you can view videos on the TV, to be honest, I really didn't care about it but my wife did. The tech support team was great, they came right up when we reported the problem, determined it wasn't going to work and they offered us 3 free movie coupons for our inconvenience. On our last day at the hotel, our flight didn't leave till 7 pm, we asked for a 4pm late checkout and despite the fact the hotel was booked solid, they gave it to us. I stay at this hotel most of the time I travel to SF, it's a great location, reasonably priced with lots of restaurants and stores at ones fingertips and the Bart station right outside the door making getting to and from SFO painless and inexpensive!

Pros: The location couldn't be more convenient, just steps away from the Embarcadero BART station, and very close to everything off of Market and the Embarcadero. The hotel itself is large and strangely appointed in some ways in the lobby (huge sculptures, dated music, pods of work or social spaces set out in the midst of an overwhelming visual scale reminiscent of Soviet architecture). That said, the staff was so welcoming and pleasant, and the rooms are clean, new, and quite comfortable. I did not try room service, but everything I experienced was worth the very affordable rate. I'll be back.

Pros: The restaurant manager.
Cons: I went to check into my room after having lunch. I said I would meet a coworker there. I got there and our waitress came out and talked to me in a very loud voice saying that none of us had paid for lunch, and that it was going to come out of her salary, and that I had to give her my charge card and pay for all the lunches. I told her that was not so as I saw each of us settle up our tabs. I turned around to leave and went down the escalator after I saw my friend was not there and got another text that he was downstairs. She followed me downstairs loudly saying that we had not paid our bills and that she was going to call security. At the bottom of the escalator she found security. They all followed me back upstairs and by then my friend that I was supposed to meet joined us. I was a bit upset because I knew we all paid our bills. He was pretty calm and said what will it take to just get this taken care of for now so we can meet our friends for dinner and will come back later. She just kept insisting there was nothing that could be done except to pay for all three lunches. It was also interesting that as soon as I got to my room there was a phone call verifying that I was just eating in the restaurant and I still wonder if that was not part of the scam. We finally got through to a manager. After explaining the story again, she went over to a register and looked and found all three of our signed receipts for lunch. She admitted that I should never have been treated like that and guess what, all of our lunches are comped on her! Although it was very unnerving, everything turned out well and the hotel room was just fine.

Pros: The hotel atrium remains spectacular. Great location in financial district, overlooking the bay, a walking distance from Fisherman's Wharf, but be aware that many restaurants and coffee shops in the immediate vicinity of the hotel are closed on Sunday.

Pros: We loved the friendly staff and how close to everything this hotel was. We were in walking distance of everything we wanted to do. The hotel room was beautiful too, newly renovated and very nice!
Cons: All of the addtional fees for parking and "resort fees". Granted we got a deal on the cost of the room, so we're not complaining too much but the actual cost of the rooms are very expensive and then to add over $150 of addtional fees when checking out is a little crazy. But, overall, we would be willing to stay here in the future, if we make it to the west coast again.

Pros: The hotel overall was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lobby was beautiful. Restaurant was delicious.

Pros: I was on a top floor with a good view. Very friendly staff; I know they are all doing the best they can in this tough times.
Cons: If you plan to stay here long just know that no room cleaning is done until you check out. My stay was for 6 nights and I was only informed that my room would be cleaned on the 5th day when I was checking in. I know this is due to covid and them being careful but which person what to stay in a room that’s not being cleaned?! On the 3rd day I asked for my room to be cleaned and since they have a time that cleaning is done - it was done on the 4th day.

Pros: We stayed a night since it was near our morning meeting. The layout and lobby is great, and the staff is very welcoming. Unfortunately let down by mediocre room experience (deluxe king) and we could not have a good rest.
Cons: The thermostat in our room was broken and it was way too hot. We tried re-setting it several times but it kept blowing hot air even though it was 75F. It was very difficult to sleep and sweated through the night. The shower pressure was very low. Having both shower head choices was nice, but it was difficult to feel clean because the water pressure was very low and so it took much longer to soap off. For a business hotel, you had to pay for internet. We used a hotspot instead. It felt a bit confused whether it was a luxury hotel or a business hotel, and for the price point I would stay somewhere else that has better value for money. Not having a good night sleep really affected my work day

Pros: Clean, had an indoor pool. Staff was friendly enough.
Cons: Everything was overpriced, maybe I’m not a 4.5 star hotel guy. Parking was $70/night incl tax (after 1st night I parked outside), water in room was $8. I needed some antacid at night, 2 tabs of pepto=$2. I guess I was expecting more, or it’s really for people who will use the bar and drink more. Water pressure in shower was too low.

Pros: Clean rooms and easy check-in and check-out. Professional and looks modern. Also, they have big bathrooms and nice towels and comfortable beds.
Cons: Every time I’m here, hotel is always busy, so rooms usually aren’t available until 3:00. They do have an ambassador program for extra perks, but it’s only good for intercontinental hotels and not the chain of hotels it’s associated with. Water pressure in shower is low, but it’s a roomy shower.

Pros: I hosted a bachelorette party at the Intercontinental and it was great!! The staff was very accommodating and helped us with making sure all the girls were taken care of. The rooms were beautiful and spacious, and the hotel was extremely spacious.
Cons: There was a "bouncer" type employee at night who gave me and the girls staying at the hotel a hard time. He required every girl to have a key in their hand to get in, even though we just had one person per room have a key because we didn't think it was necessary. He was extremely rude and borderline harassing.

Cons: The worst hotel experience I've ever had. Even though I did book at the last moment, there was nothing about the hotel to justify a rate of 200 a night. A creepy, worn hotel. Worn carpet, fixtures Small, awkwardly laid out bathroom. Other than the location I can't think of anything to recommend this hotel.

Pros: Super nice and playful front desk staff. I happened to mention it was my boyfriends birthday and the concierge offered to fill the room with balloons and a free bottle of wine! And they set it up as a surprise for when we got back from dinner! The car service was excellent, the decor was really nice- Indian type theme but clean and chic! Organic coffee and tea in the room, shampoo conditioner and shower gel in dispensers instead of minis to be more Eco friendly! I couldn't have been happier with our stay.
Cons: I didn't like the price, but that's to be expected in San Francisco! The building is old so the walls seems paper thin to outside noise, but not really from room to room, so didn't mind the sound of cars and people walking.

Pros: clean
Cons: (1) Rooms at lower levels are noisy from the people in the street. (2) It had no parking counter to what advertised. They push on you a mandatory valet at approximately $40/day. (3) Internet is free for 20 min a day. Nevertheless, when you use it, at their business center, they have a slow mode option you do not know of. You find out at the check out that the default option, you thought was free for 20 min, is the fast option that cost approximately $1/min. (3) The streets in front of the hotel are full with homeless people who use the sidewalks like sleeping quarters and restrooms. For the rest, it was peachy.

Pros: I was impressed by the staff when they offered to valet the car up early, since we had to leave at 5:30am. I found the room very comfortable, but my husband had issues. He could not sleep and blamed the hardness of the bed. I slept fine and have no complaints

Pros: The hotel itself is attractive. A boutique hotel with a great lobby, warm staff and cute charming rooms. The bathroom was nice. Our superior king room had a walk-in closet with two entrances. The room had a dimmer for the main ceiling light above the bed. It's a short walk to some nice bars. Union Square is about a 10 minute walk. The price is great for the quality of our stay, especially giving the going rates on much of the city.
Cons: The floor of the bathtub was slippery, so I had to be very mindful when showering. There is however a short rail / bar along the shower wall that came in handy when stepping into the bathtub. Like many buildings in SF, it's an old building and the walls are a bit thin. You occasionally hear sounds through the walls (i.e. steps, hallway chatter, clunks of objects moving through the hallways), but nothing out of the ordinary.

Pros: The hotel was a better standar than I was expecting. The lobby was clean & fairly modern. The room was reasonably large and had good amenities.

Pros: The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was great. I stayed in San Francisco numerous times and for the price this hotel was a great stay/great deal. Would recommend.
Cons: When we arrived the room felt cold to us. We are from a much warmer climate than SF. Turned on the heater and didn't heat up. Called the front desk and was told the heat in the building was on a timer...comes on at 9pm (it's a radiator). They offered to send up a space heater.Within minutes we had a space heater. Problem solved. Great staff and super friendly.

Cons: It would be really helpful to have coffee makers in the room or room service -- there is coffee in the lobby, but if you are traveling with kids or have an early morning, it is useful to have it in your room. I didn't care for the fact that the water bottles in the room had price tags. It would also be nice if the wine service rotated wines.

Pros: I liked the location of the hotel. The staff was friendly. The game room was cool, but I didn't have time to enjoy it. The atmosphere was fun.
Cons: I wish I didn't upgrade my room. Not sure what my original room would have been like, but the only thing I liked about the room I upgraded to was seeing the bay. But there was black hair on the bathroom hair which I assume was from the maids or people who stayed before me. There were two things left behind from the people before, so it made me question how clean the room really was. I didn't sleep well because of where the room was located. I could hear the outside door to the stairwell open and slam shut. A group of people tried getting into my room because the front desk gave them the wrong room number. Overall I was disappointed and if I knew it would have been this way I could have saved myself some money.

Cons: We paid extra for a king size bed and were put into a double size MURPHY bed! Pros: The location (and that's it)
Cons: The hotel was under major construction which we were not aware of in the slightest prior to booking the room. The room lacked more than a single mirror and there was no door on the closet (this wasn't a huge issue, but in a way it served as the icing on the cake for what was a pretty horrible hotel experience). I'm a Club Carlson member, and after that experience I am in no hurry to book a room at another affiliated hotel.

Our balcony was waterfront and faced the fisherman's wharf as well as had a direct view of Alcatraz. The room was very clean, spacious, and had all the amenities we needed. The staff at the hotel were all very helpful as well as provided us with coupons for restaurants and activities. We really enjoyed the location and our entire stay at Hotel Zephyr.
Cons: There really weren't hardly any complains about hotel Zephyr minus a few small ammenities. We would've liked to have had a microwave in our room but it wasn't really an inconvenience anyhow. The gym was a little small and could've used some more equipment but again, wasn't a big inconvenience at all.

Pros: The atmosphere, the games, and the patio with lots of seating, fire pits and plantings were awesome! The staff was friendly and the concierge was very helpful.
Cons: The food choices at the hotel. The camper is touted as having food that is locally sourced and fresh, but when we looked at the menu, the only choices were personal pizzas and one soup. We got the pizzas and we're not impressed.
Good

Pros: Stay here for the location. Right across the street from Pier 39, and walking distance to Ghiradelli Square, shops, and reataurants.
Cons: $50 + taxes to park per night. The fire pits were not working during our stay, and they were not apologetic for that. That was one of the main reasons why we decided to stay at this hotel.

Cons: Soundproof was rather poor. I can hear people walking by my room and chatting very clearly.

Cons: Could hear guests above us all night walking around. But the biggest downer was that while they advertise poking is available they don't tell you it's $49 a day

Pros: Location, location, location. Clean, friendly staff, cool fire pit area. Hot Spud right around the corner.
Cons: Unknowingly, we asked for a view room. We got a great room with swell views of the bay, piers, etc. However, that meant we were just across from the VERY loud street performers. And the idiots flooring their cars at 1 a.m. with modified mufflers. I suggest certainly staying at this hotel, but ask for an inside room.

Pros: Short walk to the pier and other attractions. Near grocery store and the game room has family style tables so you can bring food in rather than dine out if you’re with a group.
Cons: 1. $$ To park 2. Need to step up their maintenance/housekeeping practices 3. Courtyard is a great idea but needs a refresh.

Pros: Loved the modern, nautical decor and fun seating areas and games! All in all an incredible experience!
Cons: Our overall experience was wonderful. There were a couple of minor details that could use checking. The shower drain was slow and the bathroom sink counter was beginning to show signs of rust. Might check into a sealer as we know it's only 4 months old and could tell that the staff was making an effort to keep everything really nice.
"Located in Downtown San Francisco, this hotel is within 2 mi (3 km) of Westfield San Francisco Centre, Lombard Street and Painted Ladies. Pier 39 and Golden Gate Park are also within 3 mi (5 km). Market St & 5th St Stop and Powell St & Market St Stop are within a 5-minute walk. "

Pros: Good location, Comfortable bed, Nice bathrooms. Easy to walk to local "tourist spots"
Cons: I booked a 2 double bed room for my friend and i. And paid in full up front. non refundable. What i got was 1 king size bed. (Resulting in an awkward situation for my friend and i) I guess they arent sure how to hold a reservation? (After booking i was sent an email stating this could happen) but i still dont understand how i can request what i need, and pay in full. And be given something completly different... There is no parking at all. You can either park on the street and baby a meter, or you can pay valet 60$ a night plus 40% tax. (I was not made aware of this until the i was sitting in the valet) Just be prepared to pay alot more than what you agreed to before you show up. (Maybe this isnt a big deal for most, but i didnt feel like it was a good way to conduct business, and treat your guests)

Pros: Clean, modern, good location 4-minute walk from Powell BART station, some good restaurants and shopping.
Cons: Like many big-city hotels, the air inside is extremely dry, especially in the winter. Can't open windows. Makes sleep especially difficult. Very difficult to control temperature in the room, which gets hot at night, but turning the heat down turns on very noisy, I mean LOUD, air conditioning.

Pros: I LOVE that Parc 55 is pet friendly! We brought along our German Shepherd and they were more than welcoming. The hotel was the PERFECT location for Pride. We were feet away from the parade route and also were able to see the parade from our room. The pool was “amazing” (to quote my 13yo son). Parc 55 made this weekend a perfect weekend getaway for my son, pup, and I.

Pros: Great location! Clean and modern room. Mattress was comfortable and the view was great! The elevators were very efficient too.
Cons: The "hot" breakfast bar that was included was just pastries, fruit, heat n' serve cups of oatmeal, yogart, coffee and juice. When they said "hot" I think of eggs, breakfast meats and toast or pancakes. They should not reference their breakfast bar as a "hot" breakfast bar. The staff gave us the wrong directions a few times, just save your breath and time and just google it!

Pros: Location was very central - minutes from Union Square. Staff was very accommodating, very helpful and friendly. Beds were very comfortable. Unique look in the rooms - loved the character of the place.
Cons: No hair dryer in bathroom (didn't matter to me but it may be a surprise if you're counting on having one). Wouldn't mind a few extra places to hang clothes, towels, etc.

Pros: Loved the boutique vibe that the hotel has, it seems SF is lacking modern hotels that are similar to the Ace and plentiful of tacky hotels. The decor is very minimal, with concrete floors- it feels similar to a loft you would want to live in. The restaurant downstairs had a really great brunch and the staff were very friendly. The actual location is pretty central, so it's not that difficult to leave the touristy area of Union Square.
Cons: There wasn't a mention of the $45 (plus tax) for the valet. So that got a bit expensive. You also have to call 30 minutes ahead. The shower is also a lukewarm temperature. And a bit difficult to work with it being stuck.

Pros: The staff was very professional and friendly.
Cons: Our room was very noisy - noises from rooms next to us and above us plus noises from the hallway. Our bathroom light was on a motion detector (no light switch), which didn't always work correctly, so we were either caught in the dark while showering, or unable to turn it (or the ceiling fan connected to it) off when not in use.
Stanford Court San Francisco is centrally located in San Francisco, a 3-minute walk from Grace Cathedral and 5 minutes by foot from Cable Car Museum. Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services.

Pros: Steve, one of the staff members, was very friendly and helpful. Aside from that, nothing.
Cons: Nearly everything. The rest of the staff seemed unimpressed with the hotel themselves and in fact mocked the hotel for intentionally using "false advertising" to lure customers into staying there. Upon arriving we received a "complimentary upgrade," which off the batt seemed wonderful, but once we entered the room we were appalled; we couldn't even imagine what our original room would have looked like. When I called down to complain about the striking difference from the pictures on the website the woman at the front desk replied that what I saw online was called "photoshop." The room was spacious, but empty; there was no headboard, safe or amenities. The hotel offered nothing, but rooms and was not the kind of place you looked forward to returning to at the end of a long day. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never return myself. For a couple hundred dollars more I could have stayed at the nicest hotel in San Francisco. This hardly ranks with the top hotels in the city, despite its high prices and false four star advertising online.

Pros: Friendly staff, great location (walking distance to most attractions), comfy beds and updated overall.
Cons: Needed spa after some gruelling walks (need to be fit to get around) or simply jump on cable cars outside hotel ;). Pros: Stanford Court hotel was in a terrific location. Cable car intersection right out the front door was super cool. The lobby and bar were upscale and clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a boutique hotel in San fransisco.

Pros: I liked the lady at check in helping resolve an issue with billing.
Cons: Somehow, the hotel reservations people decided I should pay for an extra night when I had cancelled that night the previous week. The lady at check in was very helpful and was able to resolve the issue, but I was disappointed I had the issue in the first place. It was not clear to me why this happened. The room was nice - but quite expensive in my opinion.

Pros: The room was great and the bedding was fantastic. The staff was great, very helpful. Location was ideal.
Cons: Since we were there during the renovation, there were no shops, etc. They had shampooed the carpet in the halls the day we arrived and there remained a wet rug smell throughout our stay.

6.8
Pros: Nice hotel in general
Cons: The check in was one our delayed and the people in the front desk were not very servicial. Since it’s in the top part of the city, walking with kids or senior people is complicated. Breakfast options are not really option, it forces you to buy the full buffet.

9.6
Pros: It was clean, well-appointed, in a great, central location, comfortable & staffed with friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. They even had a phone/MP3 dock w/ speakers & alarm by the bed, which was really nice & handy.
Cons: As with most SF hotels the price is a little steep, but more reasonable than many. The cable cars were a little noisy, but didn't really bother us. Valet was over $50 for 24 hrs, but that's kinda how it goes in SF.
Good
7.1
Pros: The room size, hotel location, and hotel bar.
Cons: Confusing layout, couldnt easily located the front desk for check in (temp location due to redecorating.) Also, booked a king, was given a queen with a "better/more expensive view" not cleared with us before. It was too late to change rooms when that was offered.
Okay
5.7
Pros: Location
Cons: Mandatory "urban bundle fee" of $20+ per night, even if you don't use or want the services. Housekeeping was bad -- there was a half full highball glass in the hallway outside our room for our entire stay. When we arrived on a December evening the room temperature was set to 54 degrees with cold air blasting in. Overall not a friendly or welcoming environment, unfortunately.
Okay

Pros: Nice location
Cons: Slow service from check in to check out Uncomfortable beds (pillows were worn flat, requested new ones and got two more flat/worn out pillows) Towel was dirty (not stained--it had actual chips of dirt on it) slow wifi Very low quality food

Pros: Great location for a "staycation." We live in SF, and spent the night downtown. First dinner, then movie (at Embarcadero Cinema), then a stroll to the Ferry Building. All this within about three blocks. When we arrived, we were given a free upgrade to a slightly larger room (maybe it was a slow Friday night, but they didn't have to have done this). The room and bed were comfortable, although the TV was a bit on the small size (not tiny, just not huge). The room had plenty of room for the two of us, and the queen bed fit our two larger frames nicely. The "Living Room" on the lobby level was quite comfortable, with free espresso drinks and computers available. Free wifi throughout the hotel. We didn't try the restaurant, but there is a Starbucks on the corner (two doors down) that opens quite early, so we had a nice breakfast and coffee there. We enjoyed our stay, and thought the price was great for a downtown SF hotel room.
Cons: Our only complaint was that the window was dirty. It looked like some cleaning had gone on above us, and the soap/water had streaked our window.

Pros: Hop-skip-n-a-jump away from the piers. Nice sized room. Friendly staff and gave us 1.5 hour late checkout which made life much better on this trip.
Cons: Odd layout. Only one entrance, it was like 1/3 of a block in- which means you have to walk [on average] > 1/4 a block after entering lobby to get to one's room. Also i wish the website had mentioned the $50 a day for parking[we were in town for 24 hours.] This might have been the going rate for Fisherman's Wharf but this would've made the difference between this place and a place nearly $40-60 cheaper: longer walk to piers but saving $40-50/night is a big difference. Might not have been the hotel's fault maybe the booking site should've mentioned this, but still this is important information. Other complaint, probably more universal: really going to charge $14 to use hotel WiFi in one's room?! In 2015? First time rentimg hotel in San Francisco. Is this the norm? Free on lobby, though. Very not cool.

Cons: While checking into the hotel the lady got smart with me numerous times. When I asked about the noise level she gave me a smart reply. Parking was expensive! By the time they added on the hotel tax it was almost 60 bucks!

Pros: Location - excellent, v close to Union Sq/restaurants etc; staff - friendly/helpful

Pros: I really liked the architecture and our bellhop/concierge (they play double duty) was really nice.
Cons: The rooms are small, which I expected from an old building. The mattresses are awful (truly, truly awful), which I din't expect and the price is high for low amenities and low quality. Also, the valet parking is $60/day. When we checked out, they asked how our stay was and I told them the mattresses were really uncomfortable and they just sort of ignored that. They probably hear it all the time. I won't stay there again.

Pros: Beautiful art deco building and lobby are aged but maintained and give a romantic and intimate vibe. Central location, competitive rates, and onsite as well as nearby eating options are plusses. The staff were excellent and helpful, enhancing the atmosphere.

Pros: Overall the hotel was a good value. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice enough. The staff was courteous and helpful. The hotel did waive the additional $20 hotel fee when we informed them of our experience, which was nice.
Cons: There was a crack in the sink in the bathroom. The decor was a little gaudy. The worst part of the stay was having to listen to the people in the adjacent room scream and cry from 1:15am to 2:30am. We called the front desk a little after 1:30am and security did show up around 1:45am, but that didn't stop these people from continuing for another 45 minutes.

Pros: Rooms were small but clean. Hotel was well kept for its age.
Cons: Location is in a difficult side of town. Hidden costs such as a $22.00 tax. We made them take it off. $59.00 for parking we were not told about the cost. Then our account was charged other amounts we had no idea what they were.

Pros: Staff were friendly. Lobby was nice. Close to union square. I quite liked te location.
Cons: Room wasn't that clean, dust balls and items under the beds. Beds very soft as mattresses were old. Bathrooms looked very tired and were cramped. Wallpaper scuffed up badly. Needed remodel. Also there are a lot of homeless in this area, I got woken up every morning in the early hours with neurotic screaming and shouting from people sleeping outside.

Pros: I typically stay at a large chain hotel but couldn't get one on a short notice - the price was right and I really enjoyed taking a break from the same large business hotels. The lobby takes you to another place in time and everyone was very friendly. The room was clean and quaint. My colleague was staying at the much larger Hilton right across the street and loved the Serrano when he stopped by. It was a nice break from the usual and well worth it!

Pros: I stayed at the hotel the night before and after my trip to Burning Man. It has a great location, just a block from where I caught the Burner Express. It's also right on the subway and streetcar lines, and within walking distance to a lot of shopping. The hotel itself looks like an elegant hotel that has seen better times. The lobby is highly decorated in an old style and is beautiful. The hotel is very large. It was quite a walk to my room. The room itself was fine, but nothing too special. There is a Starbucks and a nice restaurant attached to the hotel.
Cons: When I arrived the first day in middle of the afternoon, they were a little understaffed, and at one point there was a about a 5 minute span that no one was at the desk to check people in.

Pros: It is a historic hotel, so that is charming.
Cons: The rooms are small, even the beds are small and short. I hope you like it close and cozy with your partner. Our room smelled really bad like urin, so we changed the room. But even the other room had a wiered smell. I don't know how to describe it. The bathroom is o.k. the tub was old and yellow but you saw it was cleaned up. What made me really angry was the parking situation! I paied 38 dollars plus tax per night. I mean you are in San Francisco where you can see broken windows in cars all over the place. It is not like you can have your car on the street or somewhere else. Especially cause Market Street is not a good area at all. You shouldn't go out there at night. So for me it was much saver to place the car at the hotel but it was to expensive!

Cons: The Kayak lists parking as an amenity. This is false. Ended up leaving the hotel immediately after getting my room keys from a jerk at the front desk and learning I could not park anywhere. Even when I attempted to pay for their valet parking which cost over 50% of the value of the room, I was denied service due to the fact that I have a pet in the car (a pet that would have stayed in the car over night). I'm now going through hoops and loops to get a refund (surprise! So far no and later a weak maybe), since the booking was made based on false information on the Kayak listing. Can you guys help facilitate the refund?

Pros: Loved the detail of building design inside and out. Step back in time with the interior lobby details. Wood details on ceilings. Elegance from lobby to elevators to hallways. But has all the modern details you desire inside rooms.

Pros: I have stayed at the Hotel Whitcomb several times. It is very centrally located and is an excellent value for the money. It is an older hotel, but the owners have upgraded those parts of the rooms and hotel with which the guest regularly interacts. The rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are comfortable. The staff is courteous and attentive. The BART station is very close and the cable car terminus is about six blocks down Market Street. Again, it is a good value for the dollar.

Pros: + THE STAFF: Every single staff member we encountered went above and beyond their duties to be very friendly and extremely helpful! + THE BEDS!!!: Oh my gosh those beds and those pillows were heavenly! + THE HISTORY: I initially chose to stay here because of the hotel's great history, but I was thrilled to see that on the Mezzanine level they actually have a "Hall of History" with wonderful artifacts from the Whitcomb's heyday along with a couple of glass cabinets throughout the lobby area with even more old artifacts. There is also an art gallery dedicated to a couple of the local theaters/acts with pictures etc, that date from the early Jazz age to around WW2. The Hotel Whitcomb served as the City Hall after the 1906 earthquake while the original one was being rebuilt, and I read that there are still jail cells that in the basement that you can see if you ask, but unfortunately I didn't have time to do that this time but I'll be sure to ask next time because I will definitely be coming back
Cons: - THE AREA: The traffic is atrocious! It is so easy to get lost because of all the one way streets and no left turns etc.

Pros: Cleaning staff work very hard - rooms are clean
Cons: One person in front desk at any time - lineup is long. Staff is abrupt and rude. Neighbourhood is scary and dangerous. Key cards needed recoding every day ( huge inconvenience) Do NOT stay here - too expensive and it’s a horrible experience.

Pros: Almost nothing. The lobby was pretty I guess. A few members of the staff made it bearable.
Cons: Incredibly rude manager and staff. Had an issue at check in and was met with aggression and condescension. There is literally nothing that makes this hotel stand out. Also watch out for this Kayak contract, you can end up with no room and no refund if you're not careful. Would not recommend, probably won't be booking through this service for a hotel again.

Pros: I liked that it was simple and clean.

Pros: I loved the heritage features of this hotel. Beautiful wood mouldings, marble and crystal light fixtures make you feel like you've stepped back in time. The hotel rooms are simple, but nicely appointed. This hotel was good value for money. It is a 3 star hotel and I think it was very nice for a 3 star hotel, better than most, but if you are looking for 4 or 5 star hotel features and amenities then this probably isn't the hotel for you.
Cons: Amenities are a bit limited, no room service, no mini fridge or coffee maker, no pool. Pay per view movies weren't working during our stay, but we weren't there to watch movies so it wasn't a big issue. The hotel is in a bit of a rough area, but I still felt safe on the streets. No one bothered me. A short walk or tram ride takes you to Union Square and beyond to the Piers and Fisherman's Wharf, so you are close to better areas and it's very central.

Pros: I liked that it was close to the muni which made travel easy. The rooms were nice enough and comfortable. It was a quiet hotel and historic restorations were nice.
Cons: I did not like the location being in the tenderloin for the price. A block in any direction would make ty out feel unsafe. Especially at night. There was construction immediately next door which no site listed and they started at 7am on a Saturday morning. The staff could have been more courteous and informative. The ac stopped working after the second night.

Pros: The hotel was in a central location, close to everything and easy to get an Uber. The free high-speed internet was definitely a plus.
Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable and very disappointing. The hotel was situated in a sketchy party of town.
