Pros:
Cons: Upon check in the front desk attendant told me the floor I would be staying on was haunted. I asked to be moved to an un-haunted floor, was given a lesser room than booked. And I found "hotel shuttle" does not mean the service is free, nor available 24/7.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, firm mattress. Great, friendly staff! Very accommodating.
Cons: The bathroom sink was annoying. The faucet was barely inside the bowl, which made a mess when using the sink. So it was difficult to use the sink as counter space, which was lacking. No other complaints. Everything else was great.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Enjoyed the old school, old world decore. Staff at check-in, concierge, bar and dining room were very helpful, courteous, responsive. Got a good workout in the exercise room.
Cons: Downtown Portland has its challenges with homeless, but the Benson is centrally located on the old town side, with easy access to public transportation. Parking is expensive, so turned in my rental car and used the light rail to get around and save money.

2.8 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel itself is nice, clean, and very conveniently located to many attractions and great restaurants in downtown Portland. However, those do not make up for the truly terrible customer service we experienced.
Cons: As a frequent traveler, I've stayed in my fair share of hotels of varying degrees of comfort. Upon checking into the Paramount hotel, I was very pleased with the hotel and my room- however, my pleasant experience stopped there.
At 1 AM my first night, the guest in the room next to me was being overly disruptive. I finally called the front desk, spoke to April, and hoped it would be taken care of. The guest continued to be loud and I woke up every hour- at one point she was screaming at a hotel employee that he was assaulting her- until I called again at 4 AM and was told that the guest was being escorted out. However, this process was also loud and kept us up until close to 5 AM- and ultimately, the hotel took 4 hours to solve a problem that I called about at 1 AM.
I understand that a loud neighbor is not the hotel's fault- what happened next was. I never received any sort of follow up from them, explaining or apologizing for our terrible night.
Since I was not contacted, I stopped by the front desk and spoke to Jeremy- he was rude and did not apologize or offer any explanation as to what happened or what compensation we could expect.
I stopped the desk a second time and requested that a manager call me on my cell phone- I was going to be out of my room all day. I left my cell phone number with Jeremy- and received no call.
I returned to the hotel around 7PM and once again approached the front desk- I was told there was no available manager and that I wouldn't be able to speak to one until 9 AM the next morning (after I was already expected to check out). Finally, Charlie at the front desk was able to get a hold of a manager who said that she had tried calling my room (even after I specified that I would be out all day and specifically left my cell phone number) and that they would compensate one night of my valet parking ($39).
Through all of this, I still never spoke to a manager and never received a formal apology (though a manager did call me on my flight back to New York the next day). Overall, the horrible customer service and miscommunication of the hotel staff left me upset and, frankly after the events of the night before, unsafe. For the cost of this hotel, I expected better service and a better compensation for my lost night of sleep. My stay was handled in an unprofessional manner- I certainly will not be returning and urge others to choose other accommodations when visiting Portland.

Pros: Secure building. Spacious room. Actual hotel building was quiet and felt small because of the layout.

Pros: Location, breakfast, wine tasting and the room and not necessarily in that order. We stayed for one night and really enjoyed ourselves . The king room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were also helpful and available.
Cons: Automatic front doors would have been nice as I had a large bag and case to carry in and up a few steps too. I’m not complaining but it’s something that I thought would be more convenient and helpful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the linens and bathrobes! Locatarios is fantastic for exploring on foot. Great food all around within easy walking distance. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: First night we were there, we were in a really nice room on second floor but the traffic noise outside made for bad night’s sleep. Staff was very accommodating and moved us to an interior room. We sacrificed the lovely large window and more spacious layout to have a room that was very quiet and more conducive to a good night’s sleep.

Pros: Great interior design. Hotel is in a good location and has a good vibe. Good restaurant on property. Our dog also loved his stay.

Pros: The location is good. A few minutes walk away from many restaurants. The staff were friendly.
Cons: The size of the room was very small. It wasn't good value for money. Some of the things feel like they are really old. The head rest cushion was peeling off ( I didn't complain as it didn't bother me much). The restroom is ordinary. the knob to turn from tap to shower doesn't work well and it's a big hassle when you have soap on your hands..

Cons: Pricy for how small the room was and my view was of a roof looking across to other rooms and the curtains didn’t close all the way. The bathroom fixtures were loose and falling off. I could have gotten a cheap motel room and just used the train and saved money if I would have known.

Pros: Wonderful location
Cons: The first room arranged by reception was the one that was not cleaned, messy bedroom and bath room. Did not receive any apology when fed back this. Reception offered another room that was next to the first one, I refused because of the horrible experience entering the first one and asked for another room not so close to. Reception showed very limited willingness to be helpful and given me the one right below. At night when I wanted to take a bath I found the bathtub was gross enough that the water is with floating unknown materials. I let water flow for half an hour but still was not able to get to clean water in the bathtub and I gave up.

Pros: The architecture of the building was simply beautiful. The valet parking was friendly and expedient. The bed was extremely comfortable, the extra sheets fresh and clean smelling. The towels were very thick. The hot water kettle and teas were a nice addition. There was a knock on the door for turn down service. The hallways were deeply carpeted and wide. We never heard hallway traffic noise. The white noise machine came in handy, for the Max below the window (five floors up) and for the very loud in-room, vibrating heating unit in the casement structure between the bedroom and parlor (which sounded off every 15 minutes). The location was good, close to Powells, Nordstrom, and other corporate shopping storefronts, as well as several very highly rated weekend brunch options. It could have been and even nicer stay had not Portland's most iconic food truck block, catty corner to the Sentinel, been removed to make way for a new 5 star hotel. The price was reasonable for PDX, given these amenities, but as you will read below, I feel it was overpriced given the actual 3-star experience due largely to poor maintenance and industrial design. I felt like the hotel was not focused on the user experience from the ergonomics point of view, and was not able to look at people as persons rather than average consumer groups. The devil is in the details and we will not stay with this hotel chain again...and it should not be rated with 4-stars.

Cons: There were so many little things that were not up to par with regard to the maintenance and creature comforts of the room that it became one big thing. Bathroom: -extremely small with a pedestal sink, no towel bars or hooks nearby and a thin mirror ledge shelf not big enough for a small overnight bag. -no exhaust fan, peeling wallpaper, and a shower curtain with a curling iron burn likely for being so close to the single outlet by the sink (close enough for the hair dryer to fall into the bathtub). -The toilet felt lower than standard for hotels and could be difficult for some to lower/raise themselves. -Low water pressure in the shower, the shower head itself and faucet of inferior quality, without alternating spray options. The water temperature was "child safe" and set to a lower level typical for hotels. Bedroom: -the floor-length mirror was on the back side of the bathroom door and inconvenient as it needed to remain open for ventilation and easy access. -curtains did not close completely, despite creative fabric folding, streaming in outside street lighting. High ceilings made it hard to fix. -no dresser for personal items, only built-in drawers in the dark closet which require one to squat or kneel to access. -luggage racks at foot of bed had dark metal frames, the exact color as the carpet, making it difficult to see and navigate in low light and caused banged knees. -one bedside table lamp was a pull-down chain style and the other a twist knob, requiring fiddling in the dark. Parlor: the light switch at the door turned on no lights, even with playing with the settings on the three lamps in the room causing fumbling in the dark to find the switches on the units Reception: No visual review of bill offered prior to customer signature. When asked, "What does the guest amenities fee include?" the response was, “it’s included in the total price,” rather than providing an explanation of what the fee covers.
1.0 Poor
Pros:
Cons: Well they charge a resort fee. The hotel is hardly a resort. The resort fee apparently covers for wifi, water and coffeee. I felt sorry for the staff that had to justify it. The elevator was out of service during the time I checked in.

Pros: The attentive staff
Cons: I kind of wanted a microwave. I had ordered room service from the lobby restaurant and didn't finish it in one sitting. I woke the next morning and wanted to heat it up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice modern clean hotel with friendly staff in a great location.
Cons: Room was a little small as they are in most city center areas, but fine for a couple.

Pros: The day time manager provided exceptional service, she was understanding and accommodating!
Cons:
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The staff was rude when I arrived. Put the incidental deposit on my credit card twice and I would have liked to know about the expensive parking charge that they had in advance.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location was good
Cons: It was very noisy! Also was not a 4.5 star hotel. Used the bar of soap in the shower, maid did not replace, just left the empty wrapper on the counter.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The room was well decorated
Cons: Extremely thin walls, basically a cheaply constructed hotel w an interior decorator. You could hear the neighbors entire conversations. The room was unacceptably dirty: bloody sheets and toilet seat.

Cons: The valet that greeted us when I asked where to park was very dismissive. He seemed unwelcoming. I booked the hotel for the acclaimed roof top bar, which was very disappointing. It was very small and in need of remodeling. Our room needed dusting.

5.8 Okay
Pros:
Cons: Had a real problem with billing. I fully paid for 2 nights ahead of time, but the hotel charged me for 3 nights on top of the 2 nights already paid for. So for 2 nights I've been charged for 5 nights. There is a phantom person that I need to talk to for resolution, but unable to connect. Everyone is real polite about the problem, but nobody has authority to do anything about it. I've stayed here a couple times, always something annoying and this is the worst. Last time for me, my recommendation is to stay away.

With its iconic food cart gatherings, anti-establishment murals and even a doughnut shop that performs weddings, it's no wonder the mantra of this town is “Keep Portland Weird.” And right in the heart of it all you’ll find Hotel Rose, a funky, fun and “oh-so-Portland” boutique hotel located directly across from Tom McCall Waterfront Park on the beautiful Willamette River. From shopping to dining to outdoor recreation, there’s no better home base for exploring the odd, the exquisite and the just plain outrageous. Pros: It was in walking distance to a lot of places and the restaurant was outstanding.

Pros: Value for money stay and great location. Love the wall mounted hand soaps and toiletries at the shower area
Cons: We stayed in a connecting room and there is almost no sound insulation and can hear our neighbour’s TV and conversation.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was great
Cons: My room was on the street side and road noise was pretty loud. The worst was at 4:00 am when a garage truck was there for 15 minutes making banging noises while moving multiple dumpsters. I still liked the hotel and would recommend but no room by street.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: The room did not seem to have guest-controlled heating. THere was a thermostat that could turn on air conditioning but not heating. But the blankets and duvets were warm enough so we did not complain.

Pros: The design and beds.
Cons: There was an amenities fee I wasn't told about.

Pros: Staff were very friendly
Cons: The hotel is listed as a 4* and it is clearly not. It is an older hotel that has undergone some basic cosmetic upgrades. At most this hotel should be listed as 3.5*.

Pros: The staff was above exceptional. The room was perfect. Even the cleaning staff was wonderful and super happy. Best stay in Portland thus far!
Cons: Restaurant prices were a little high. But the hotel was close to a great bar open till 230am which was perfect. (Paddys)

Pros: The Hotel Rose, while not centrally located in downtown Portland, is within walking distance to most of the nightlife, restaurants and shopping ? The Pearl District, where most of the nightlife is located, is a little more than a 15 minute walk away !
Cons: The resort fee is questionable ? It's for services that most hotels already provide complimentary, i.e. internet/wi-fi or coffee/water in guest rooms ? With the great staff service and clean, nice room, it seems nominal, in retrospect ?

Pros: The environment was rather calm and comfy!
Cons: We asked for extra towels but hotel staffs did not get back to us. Amenity fee of $24 should be optional since we didn’t use any of the facilities. Parking in the hotel was $42 per night since they only have the option of valet parking. It’s either that or parking on the street.

Pros: The young man at the front desk. Very nice- great job!

Pros: Very convenient
Cons: Expensive parking
4.0 Okay
Pros:
Cons: There is no parking unless you pay by the meter or $32 for the valet. There is no elevator so we had to haul up our stroller. Even though we specified we were bringing our children, their where condoms in the room and glass bottles of wine within reach of a toddler. The rooms air conditioning/heater is barely functional and there was a bright blue neon light outside of our room illuminating the whole inside of our room throughout the night. Also, there’s a diner/bar right beside the location therefore there was ruckus all night. Lastly, I’m not one to usually complain as I’ve been in the military for nearly 13 years so I’ve learned to roll with the punches however I’ve had a better experience sleeping on a cot in Iraq in a 8 man bay then I did here.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location is perfect if you don’t want to be downtown.
Cons: The rooms don’t have windows that open. So the room smelled stale/moldy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A chill vibe and location. The staff were super helpful and pleasant. They have wine and water to purchase in the room. Restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. We had some good ramen down the street. They have doors painted with chalkboard paint and chalk to write on them! There's a business center, and small art gallery. Live music and/or band next door. Patios are literally right outside your door, which was super convenient. I'd definitely come back!
Cons: There's only $29.00 valet parking or street parking that has enforcements that start at 8 am. I was able to run down and move my car to the front and pay like $2.00 to park until 10:00 am.
I sent my kids into the room before me , and I returned to two pre teen boys asking if they could try on the condoms that are provided as a courtesy in front of my 7yr old. Now I'm fine with that conversation, but I'm still wondering how I'm going to explain that to the bff's mom.
The room is super small. It worked fine for the one night, but I would not have stayed here for an extended time with the three kids I had with me on this trip. If you have chill lowkey older or small children you will be fine, but I had two 12 yr old and a 7 yr old boys, and it just wasn't enough space for ALL of thier energy. Overall it was nice!
5.4 Okay
Pros:
Cons: The price was pretty good for Portland, and it’s by in a convenient location. This is one of the loudest places I’ve ever stayed, the noise assaults you from all angles. I would only recommend staying here if you intend to party, otherwise don’t expect a good night’s sleep anytime before 3am.
7.4 Good
Pros: Style, location, views.
Cons: Noise, impractical design elements, check-in process (literally in the middle of an active nightclub).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I like having privacy (aka reception not constantly talking to me how everything is, if I order food it coming straight to my room and not having to be picked up at reception etc etc). Hotel was great! It was like living in an apartment/studio but still having it cleaned every day
Cons: I am not a big fan of air conditioning being used for heating (I prefer proper heaters) because the air gets very dry and its loud etc. but that is just my personal preference (being from eastern/northern europe) and what I am used to
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of pillows, bed was very comfy. Bunch of nice natural ingredient toiletries for use. Very convenient location for ease of walking to food and shopping.
Cons: Possibly a mini fridge for left overs with a microwave for heating. No designated marijuana smoking area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean, comfy room and bedding. Fun decor.
Cons: No parking (sorry, valet parking is $30) and the street parking is difficult. Small complaint. A bit noisy.
4.0 Okay
Pros: the staff was great and moved us when our first room smelled like urine.
Cons: the room smelled like urine. the second room which was supposed to be quieter was so noisy you could hear conversations almost 1/2 blk away! we were not in the rooms they warn you about as being noisy!!
4.0 Okay
Pros: The one thing I loved was the bed and the friendly staff and the wifi.
Cons: The room was so damp my clothes were actually wet. The shower temperature varied from burning to ice cold as you were showering so that was dangerous. There was no fridge or microwave or closet. It was mid construction. Overall it only saved a tiny bit of money compared to hotels that were much better as far a standard hotels go. The walls were very thin and people were up all night, definitely a hotel for people to hook up on for a night
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All the seating areas and the fires for warmth the atmosphere is nice and great for seeing a show at the Doug Fir. Just walk to your room after.
Cons: One of the lights in our room kept flickering so we left it off.

Pros: Location was great. Went to a work holiday party at the convention center and its right across the road. There was a little city park view and a view of the convention towers that are lite up at night. Denny's is a block down as well so it was a convienient walk every where which is great that i didn't have to pay to go everywhere to park. Also its downtown and with that is the heart or Portland's "weird" constant entertainment.

Pros: Front desk staff were nice
Cons: The carpets were filthy, the bed had large hard bumps (worn out!) We didn't have access to bottled water or snacks on our floor.Asked a housekeeper and she directed us to the wrong floor for water and only saw a garbage filled ice freezer. Get rid of that freezer that thing was Gross! Mold on the window sills. And I'm extremely allergic to mold.We were woke up by 6am construction going on under our room. Our family had the same cimplaints next door. We won't ever be staying there again. One star is all they get bc they let us check our luggage while we went to breakfast. Poor value for a 125.00 6hr.stay.Yes hrs bc we were at a concert all evening. Clean your rugs and windows. We were NOT impressed at all with Portland.Full of homeless dirty Ppl.So sad to see.Give them a free room and they'd be just one step up from sleeping on a hard dirty surface. Dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in.Yuck!

Also a good selection of nearby food options. The staff were helpful on the occasions I needed to go down and request something.
Cons: The inn itself was about average as far as comfort goes: beds could be better, shower room does not have a fan, ice is just bags of ice in a freezer that are frozen bricks by the time I got to them, internet is kinda meh. Though these are nitpicks for if you want to stay in the room all day as opposed to going out (which I had to), and the ice thing matters if you use a lot of ice (which I do). The price for 5 days was a little much though...

Pros: Great location for venues!
Cons: Great location for venues, but being next to light rail tracks meant a LOT of noise all night. Fairly difficult to figure out entrance/parking.

Pros: The front desk staff were universally wonderful, here. Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The room was clean and spacious, and smelled nice, and had a fridge and microwave and coffee machine, shampoo, etc. All in all, very serviceable, except the bed, which was hard.
Cons: Parking here, when I arrived at 8:30, was awful. Part of the problem was the full lots, part was the surrounding one-way streets and rain. Once I figured it out it was fine. The room itself was updated but still a bit old fashioned, and the shower-head was at nose-level for me (I'm about 6'0"). Lots of street noise and noise from neighbors. Bed was hard and no USB plugs in the room (but the front desk did let me borrow a charger).

Pros: the porch was nice. the room was nice stayed nice and warm with the heater. the free breakfast was also nice, i especially liked the potatoes and the fruit. it was also nice being so close to the max stop
Cons: the hallway feels a little dingy with the gray walls and low lighting. the water pressure on the shower was kinda bad. i wished there was wheat bread at the breakfast. the hallways were kinda cold too
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location
Cons: Not 2 1/2 star. Barely a 2. Staff was not friendly or pleasant. Room was small and old.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful, and I appreciate the free breakfast. The price per night was lower than other hotels in the area.
Cons: The room really needed a refurbishment. It was dingy enough that, when I arrived, I felt the need to check for bed bugs (didn't find any!) During my 3 day stay, the bathroom faucet fell off in my hand, but I was able to screw it back on for the time being.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel at the edge of the downtown area. Nothing too fancy but adequate for the fees they charge and plenty of paid) parking space available. Rooms were comfortable.
Cons: During our stay our entire hallway got booked as a surrogate dorm for what we presumed to be exchange students, 4 per room for something like 10 rooms. The hotel could probably have placed us in another section of the hotel to avoid being caught in the (obviously loud) hallway but hadn't done so. Luckily this was just 1 night and when we filed a noise complaint to the front desk it was acted upon by the staff.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: the bed, the breakfast wasn't very good.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The people working there were very nice. It is very well located.
Cons: Old carpets are pretty bad. The front desk ALWAYS had a long, long line.
3.0 Mediocre

Cons: Needed maintenence is not being done.

Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Afforably priced and in a great location in downtown Portland. Right next to the Orange Max light rail line and University district. Clean room and friendly staff.
Cons: Didn't necessarily feel safe, especially at night. Lots of confusing corridors and lonely corners. Also my door wouldn't automatically lock properly and I'd have to fiddle with it to get it to lock.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location. Easy to get to from freeway and close to restaurants, bars, and Providence Park.
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance to food choices.
Cons:
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Cheap, convenient, neat, clean
Cons: Carpets could use refreshing, but everything looked neat and clean.
