Very quiet. Been a long time that I've been in a motel this quiet. Large rooms; restaurants close by; easy access to main highways; friendly and helpful staff.
Great value and comfort
This motel doesn’t look great from the outside, but the rooms are spacious, comfortable (great beds), and clean. Also very quiet - I didn’t hear anything from outside my entire stay. The hot tub and surrounding garden are a plus. I would definitely stay there again.
Nothing fancy, but solid and good.
It's a bit like stepping back in time. The Shilo is outdated, but still solid with very good accommodations, decent breakfast, and attractive grounds. Don't set your expectations high, and you won't be disappointed.
Hotel could use a serious update, starting with replacing their box TVs.
It was soooo dated!
The lounge had good food.
The room smelt of bleach there bugs in the bathrooom and we felt a bit like we'd stepped into the 70s.
Worth the price but... So old !
The Shilo Inn Beaverton is perfectly located, less than a 10 minutes drive from downtown Portland. Moreover, the place is quiet and green, especially if you get lucky enough not to be in the front buildings. The staff is really nice and the price is definitely reasonable, considering the other hotels around Portland, especially in busy August.
The hotel is insanely old : the hallways, the rooms, the restaurant... The sheets and towels are also visibly old and used, which is not exactly pleasant... The smell at the reception will immediately tell you about this issue... The rooms can also be noisy as you will hear your neighbors pretty well. And the breakfast, even if complementary, is really not the best you will have (note: orange juice not included... No eye opener for coffee haters !).
Older hotel, average experience
It's like a flashback of the travel experiences I had as a kid in the '70s. They did just add/replace a large deck by the pool, and have a nice gazebo to hang out in. Drinks and snacks in the vending machines were not overpriced, as is common in modern hotels. Pool looked very clean.
Lumpy bed & comforter, ancient standard-definition tube TV, free breakfast in the attached restaurant was terrible the first day and bland the second day.
Large, clean room No street noise
Short on free breakfast choices
People were quite pleasant.
Room was run down and daily service was minimal. Free breakfast was much less interesting than the typical Holiday Inn Express or other chain.
Not a secure place to stay!
Gorgeous access to the beach, Devils Punch Bowl, & Low Tide pools! Beautiful landscaped paths to room!
Do not stay there alone!! AND Staff does Not care about your safety!!! A man (who appeared to be a male employee) stalked my adult daughter & chased her on the beach! I reported the incident twice & have still have not heard back from management!! There is no cell phone service or internet to even get help in an emergency situation like this! The room smelled bad, kinda stale. The beds were uncomfortable.
Exactly what was required
My friends picked me up at the airport, and we needed a place to sleep before having a couple adventures and heading for home the next day. I needed something inexpensive, but also wanted to ensure that the room would be clean. The Shilo Innn fulfilled all of these requirements quite well. The rate even included breakfast, but I didn't partake, so I won't comment on that. I will definitely consider staying here again on my next Portland trip.
Nice people, good restaurant, pretty grounds, heated pool, nice neighborhood and reasonable price.
Old carpeting. Generally needs an update. Ice machine broken reported but not fixed.
Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The internet wouldn't work even after they supposedly fixed the issue.
