Cons:they make you buy mandatory insurance. Only found out about it when got to the counter. Canceled the reservation and just used Uber

Pros:The car was in good condition and operated well throughout the rental period.
Cons:The rental company had no record of the rental; we ultimately initiated a new rental agreement, which resulted in our paying an extra $50 over what was advertised on Kayak.
10.0 Wonderful
Pros:The staff took concierge level care of me, tracking down the phone number for my insurance company, traveling the endless phone tree, and persisting through misinformation to reach an agent and get the insurance coverage information needed to approve the rental. The price was excellent and they even charged less than quoted when I was unexpectedly able to return the car 5 hours earlier than planned. I was given a KIA Soul, which didn't thrill me since it looks boxy and unsexy. But the NextCar guy confidently said people like them, so I took his word and did enjoy the car as he expected. It was quiet, smooth to operate, handled beautifully on turns and made frugal use of my gas money.
Cons:I probably have my own relative inexperience to blame for being less prepared than I should have been for providing the insurance information. Most of the other rental places I have dealt with just check the box on the form without checking to validate the coverage. I actually respect the company for their responsible policy of verification. And once the information is in their system, future transactions are a breeze. I saw customers move seamlessly through their rental process and expect the same thing for myself next time because I definitely will be a repeat customer.

Cons:The whole experience was disappointing. Upon arriving at the rental office the lobby had no AC. When it came to checking in i was informed that if I chose to decline the insurance and use my own policy the deposit would be $1000 instead of $250. My rental was supposed to be $38 for the 2 days but because I wanted the lower deposit I had to purchase their insurance which then change my price to $97. The rental car they gave me smelled like a swamp and you can tell they don’t clean their rentals really good. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into before renting with this company. I tried looking at the terms and agreement before I got to the airport and it never mentioned if you chose to use your own insurance the deposit would be higher.

Cons:When I arrived I was told there was a 25 minute wait for a vehicle. I was informed I’d receive a phone calls when the car was ready. I waited for about 45 minutes and didn’t hear anything. So, I decided to go back inside to check. There was a shift change, and when the new attendant heard my complaint she immediately began processing my reservation and said “I don’t know why he didn’t call you.” An apology would have been a better response. An offer to discount or add a perk to my reservation would have been a stellar response. Once I left the desk and met with the second attendant in the parking garage, I was informed there there was some mixup and tha the car I was assigned “doesn’t work.” I had to wait another 15 mins alongside another customer for a new car and keys to be issued. What should have been a 30-minute to one hour process, was a process that took about two and a half hours of my evening away from my family. Once I received the car, all was well. The car return was also a relatively smooth process. However, the long wait time at pickup, miscommunication, and poor customer service will definitely make me hesitate to recommend or use NextCar ever again.

Cons:The rental never took place. They required over $300000 of coverage from insurance which was not posted on your site but they have listed in fine print at their site. When I showed proof of insurance they said the $100,000 in coverage was not enough. I said I am not purchasing their insurance which the associate quoted me it would be an extra $49 a day. I said I can not afford that for 20 days. The associate said so you want me to cancel the reservation then. I said yes because I could not pay them. As I was walking out they had made comments and were laughing. They were very unprofessional. It was a very unpleasant situation. I will never go through kayak again due to the situation. I called the rental company two blocks away from them and they matched the pry, no questions asked. Accepted my insurance and I had a good experience with Flex Rental. Just a terrible situation with nextcar , especially with all of our luggage and all my family present.

Cons:They told me that I'm mandated by Maryland's law to buy full insurance and charged me $100 for it. I later discovered that that is not correct, but they refused to pay the money back.
