There was an overbooking situation and the car I reserved had a wait of 1-2 hours. I elected to get a different car (whatever was available) and had to pay $120 extra dollars. The person who helped me was very kind and I felt bad because the people in line were yelling at customer service (the line to get service took 45 mins). Dropping off on the other hand was very easy, quick and simple, very much the contrast of my pick up experience.Reviewed 21 May 2023

The staff at the counter at pick up was professional and kind. The tire had low air pressure when on the LA freeway. At 10:30pm at night in LA, the car didn't start. No-one answered the Dollar number. AAA responded and said that the starter didn't work. AAA knocked the starter and got the car started. AAA staff member said that the starter wasn't reliable. We had to wait 2 hours in line for the car we had reserved on a Wednesday night. It took 10-15 minutes per group at the counter to be processed- this should be a much faster process. I don’t know if was also the fact that there wasn’t enough staff, but they should have anticipated that it would be a busier time due to Coachella traffic. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly, but I felt he took too long and should have trying to get everyone in and out as fast as possible. Also, one guy tried to skip the line by faking a leg injury and instead of making him go to the back of the line when security caught him, he rejoined his friend in front of us. Drop off was quick, but it concerned me that we were asked to just leave the car with the key and could not verify that they weren’t going to charge more for something. I arrived at the rental car place and there were literally hundreds of people waiting for a car. The wait would have been several hours long, assuming it was even possible to get a car that night. We had to leave and abandon our reservation. I am trying to contact Kayak and the rental car place to see if it is possible to get a refund.Reviewed 24 Apr 2023
