Cons:I was unable to rent the car because plane got in at 7 PM and rental company was closed at six or something like that I tried calling their 800 number was put on hold for a half hour when the queue finally came to my name or my position in the waiting process the phone hung up and didn’t get to speak to anyone I tried again and it said I was third in line and I knew I was going to go through the same process I didn’t follow through and wait another half hour I went forward and rented a car from Avis feel comfortable to give me a call at area code 616-780-6574 I would like to get a refund when I went with Avis at spur of the moment I end up spending a little over $110 more because I didn’t have advance notice this was a very poor experienceReviewed 26 Dec 2020

Best price I foundPros:Was given a Nissan Sentra when I only ordered the cheapest economy car, and it was in great condition, very clean.Cons:I got to the airport and waited for the shuttle with their logo, but after 20 minutes of seeing all others go past I rang. Only then did they tell me I had to take a bus to an offsite parking lot to be picked up. The check in was a lengthy process, taking at least 15 more minutes before I was taken out to see a black car in a dark alley, and check it for damage. Drop off also took too long as someone printed the form, and just stuck it on a back table without telling anyone, so I had to wait while they found it again. Check engine light was on when I picked it up, but I would've had to wait longer to get a different car.Reviewed 13 Nov 2016

Pros:Nothing.Cons:1. Full disclosure about pricing. $25 rental sounds great, but by the time you add their insurance, that's another $200 (albeit it's refundable, but I am vacation don't want money that I didn't allocate) 2. Place was dirty and old. Couches that once were leather have peeled oof. 3. Slow pick up. After leaving airport going to designated spot, it took 35 minutes for van to show and that's only after I called. 4. Counter persons had very nonchalant attitude. Very slow. 5. Dirty, filthy passenger van. They used foil and tape to wrap seats that falling apart. Seats were stained. The driver attitude was funky. 6. Sooo many infractions. 7. Crowded. 8. You pay for what you getReviewed 13 Nov 2019

Pros:Not a whole lot.Cons:The shuttle process is very unclear and took some research on our part to understand. We had to first get on an LA City Bus line to take us to a drop-off point where we waited out on the street for 20 minutes for the shuttle driver to arrive to take us to the rental lot. Once at the rental office it took a full hour to reach the counter when there were only two other customers ahead of us, one with a reservation. This appeared to be normal as there were many customers waiting when we returned the car as well. We had to cancel and change other reservations we made for the day as we were not expecting to spend an hour and half waiting for a car when it usually takes 30 minutes or less. The car itself was fine, however the $300 hold was unexpected and 5x the actual rental price which is astronomical and we’re lucky to have had that amount available when we weren’t expecting to be charged anywhere near that amount.Reviewed 27 Sep 2020

Avood if you can but read small print in detail before choosingPros:We were hiring a convertible at the last minute and Economy /Allied had the best price. The car was fine if a bit batteredCons:The pick up experience was awful. Delay to get it then the manager insisted we pay another 53 for insurance despite me showing I had alternative insurance in place. He was very dogmatic actually refusing to rent and offering zero refund on the prepayment. Shortly after us the next customer had an even worse experience with fees and charge. Avoid this rental agency and Kayak please don’t include it in your comparisons and it’s not a like for like one and theReviewed 17 Sep 2018

Pros:NothingCons:Awful, terrible, never again. Thoughts that come to my mind when thinking about my rental experience as economy car rental. Arrived and there was about 10 people in line, no problem right?? Wrong, each customer took on average 15 minutes to rent a car. One representative at the window who didn’t give an F and the process took an agonizing 2.5 hrs for me to get a car. When I finally received my suv it was an old Hyundai that was covered in bumps scratches and rust everywhere. It smelled of cigarette smoke and cheap cleaner. At this point I had to take the car as I was going to be hours late to my engagement but never again would I rent from here and I feel strongly a need to warn others to spare them the miseryReviewed 2 Aug 2020

Pros:The staff was polite.Cons:You have to take not one but two shuttles from the airport. The first shuttle drops you off in a fairly random parking lot where you wait for the next shuttle. With all (seemingly unavoidable) fees the daily price was nearly triple the posted price. The car had relatively low mileage but was pretty banged up. I had to keep pushing the front-right fender back into place. This isn't necessarily Kayak's fault -- they probably have to list all providers. But "Economy Rent a Car Los Angeles" is low rent but not low cost. For just a dollar or two more than their advertised price I could have gotten a much better car, more conveniently, and for *only* a dollar or two more than their advertised price instead of what I ended up being pressured into paying.Reviewed 21 Sep 2020

Pros:Economy Car Rental didn't allow me to rent the vehicle. My license was expired by 42 days due to the DMV in Texas being closed from COVID-19. Renewing my license was/is physically impossible to my knowledge. I provided a current passport as an alternative form of identification. Alas, to no avail.Cons:Be more empathetic of the customers situation. "A prepaid customer (Me) has an expired license and couldn't renew it due to the DMV offices being closed during COVID-19. This person (Me) is scheduled to meet with clients while relying on the rental car for on-time transportation. The car won't be released to the prepaid client (me). Rescheduling ensues for myself, my clients and their clients because I am now late." An incredibly rough spot to be forced into during a pandemic. You had my money and wouldn't release the vehicle. Then you wouldn't even refund my money. I took an Uber to my Turo.com car rental that morning. If my small business was structured with these unethical values, I wouldn't have a company. Expecting any type of accountability from Kayak or Economy Car rental is obviously a 0% chance. Whoever you are reading this: Start your own company. Rental car corporations are the new Blockbuster, Turo.com will surpass them. Have a wonderful DAY!!!!!Reviewed 11 Sep 2020

Cons:The pick up on arrival was horrible, the recorded instructions were wrong and once I spike with a human their instructions were just as confusing.. and wrong. Then we were taken to an uncovered dark parking lot to wait on a shuttle (raining) who finally arrived as our Uber was picking us up to take us to the rental office (after a 25 minute wait.. in the rain). The office looked like an inner city soup kitchen (peeling paint and dirty). The area to inspect the vehicle for damage prior to signing was not lit, I used the flashlight from my cellphone to inspect it. The girl who did the inspection was unhelpful, indifferent and uninformed. While using the vehicle the key fob battery was dying the second day and kept giving failure notice. Upon return no one inspected the vehicle with me and I was left to guess if I would be charged for mystery damages.. which I was in a way. I declined the refueling and was still charged $55 for it. Very poor experience and will NEVER use this company againReviewed 2 Dec 2019

a scamPros:the rental company in LA was appalling and did not follow any rules. 7 of the 10 customers there left the office in disgust at the disorgenisation and rude attitude. THe demanded different rules for the care although none listed online when booking this. they refused without a substantial deposit (again not previously mentioned online) and when questioned they pointed to a sign on the wall indicating they did not need to serve any customer. I did not feel comfortable going ahead. They still took one day rent which is a scam. this should be refunded and if not, i will negative feedback about kayak and the car rental company in LA onlineCons:the rental company in LA was appalling and did not follow any rules. 7 of the 10 customers there left the office in disgust at the disorgenisation and rude attitude. Pros:There was no shuttle from LAX. Reservation promised a shuttle. There were no directions to the lot in the email. We waited for the shuttle and it did not come. After 45 minutes we got on a city bus after calling the lot and getting directions. They did not bother to tell us that by the time we got to them their lot would be closed! We arrived at 12:10 and the Economy Car lot was closed. They refused to provide a refund even though we would have been on time if they had given clear directions. We took an Uber to our hotel in the end. I would NEVER rent with Allied Car Rental (which owns Economy).Cons:There was no shuttle from LAX. Reservation promised a shuttle. Cheap for a reasonPros:CheapCons:Doesn't pick up from LAX with all the other rental car companies. After waiting 15min called the company and they said I had to take a shuttle to the metro train and tell the driver to make a special stop. After the driver dropped me off in a shady parking lot in an industrial park I waiting 1hr and 45min for the company shuttle to pick me up. I arrived at the office and had to wait an addition 1hr for a car because they ran out of vehicles and when they got a dodge caravan back they quickly washed it and rented the vehicle out. At least I was able to keep the same rate as the economy car I rented.Reviewed 26 Mar 2017
