We arrived from Syndney the night before and wanted to make sure we were set for the early morning flight so went to an Air NZ information desk to get boarding pass. The agent printed out an e-ticket and said we were good to go. We arrived an hour and a half early to the gate, with our carry on bags as we have done all over the world. We heard an announcement about bags needing to be checked and assumed ours would be gate checked if needed (as anywhere else in the world). The gate agent didn't arrive til 20 minutes before the flight and told us we DIDN'T have a boarding pass and needed to return to the ticket agent and check our bags. By the time we ran back to the ticket agent we were told it was too late to check our bags. We had to pay $100 more a piece to fly LATER through Christ Church. We were on our way to meet our kids for vacation and ended up losing a day and $200 additional dollars because we were given inaccurate information by the Air New Zealand info desk."

I asked hostess what the deal was (because their food service is usually great) and she explained that in this new plane (Boeing 787) they removed a lot of the working areas for the crew. They have less space to work in order to be able to prepare food and drinks compared to Qantas's other planes (Airbus A380). This is also a brand new plane for this crew (literally the first flight for some for some of them), and they didn't know where some of the things on the plane were. I imagine after they've used the plane for a while and learn where everything is, they'll get better. I'll find out on the return flight back to Melbourne."

Cons: "Well I thought I was never going to see my family again as there was so much turbulence. At one time I thought the plane was going to tip over. I’m a regular traveler and have traveled the world but never encountered anything like this before. The weather seemed fine . There was no rain or thunder. So what could have caused so much turbulence?"

Cons: "The whole terminal is budget. Hardly any seating once you go through to the gates and its a 7-minute walk back to the food court. Nowhere to charge phones. Nothing complimentary on the flight so if Virgin or Qantas are around $20-30 more, do it!"

Cons: "Plane was delayed due to excess baggage weight in hull. The baggage had to be unloaded and then reloaded again, while we sat on the tarmac for an hour."
Cons: "Jetstar is a budget carrier so I do not begrudge the additional costs for food, baggage, etc. I do, however, continue to be disappointed with their poor customer service. The service desk had a long line, 4 service representatives ad only one representative service customers."

Cons: "Ended up on a Jetstar flight on a codeshare arrangement with our booked airline Qantas. The journey didn’t start well when our bags would not scan through the self serve checkin as we had not booked direct with Jetstar. We then asked for an aisle seat, but this was refused - the “customer service” assistant advised we should have paid extra to pre-reserve a seat (a no cost option on Qantas). Then when we entered the plane we found that both adjacent aisle seats were in fact vacant. Food was an additional cost item - on an 8 hour flight. Those unlucky enough to ask for a meal late found that there was nothing left for them. Entertainment was also an additional cost item - when paid for the selection was extremely limited, the system slow. The entertainment froze up requiring a reboot. Though not the airline’s fault, the person behind was very fidgety, making it very uncomfortable for anyone sitting in front of him. If the seats were slightly further apart we might not have had that experience either. All in all not the best, given that we had booked with a full price airline and ended up on a budget airline instead."

Cons: "No further updates when revised departure time had past and we were still waiting in line. Delay avoidable and not acceptable for first flight of the morning"
Cons: "I didn't check in my bag, didn't bother to weigh it. They weighed it at boarding and it was too heavy (my bad, I probably should have checked) and had to be checked in. My gripe is that they made me pay $60 even though my ticket included a free piece of luggage. Their argument was that I didn't use that facility at check-in and therefore waived the right to that piece of check baggage."

Cons: "They choose to weigh bags just as we were boarding and as I was 1kg , I had to check in my bag , but apparently it has to go on the next flight. So now I have to wait for 2.5 hers in Sydney for my bag and had to pay $50 for the inconvenience. I would expect this from Tiger not Jetstar"

Kayak provided no information on meal/drink advance order/purchase options. This was my fort time flying this airline and I didn't know what to expect. We experienced a mechanical issue feat but the pilot was great at providing updates. We were later delayed due to another aircrafts gas spill on the tarmac. Again, great communication from the flight deck. We were able to make up the time. Baggage fees are extremely high, about the price of an additional ticket. Cons: "They look like they are offering a cheap price, but then charge you $160 NZ per bag. Only 7k allowed per carry on & they give no leeway. Don't even get complementary coffee or tea. No leg room seats are so crammed together. Take another airline you will save in the long run."
Cons: "Had to pay a surcharge for bags that was not clear at the time of booking, was supposed to be "per bag" but the airline did us a favor and only charged us for one bag. While that seems nice, it's clear it's a bogus charge if rules don't need to be followed. One flight the baggage fee was $50, another was $160 - with these costs included they are actually more expensive than other airlines. Took an international flight and all food and drinks on the flight had to be purchased, pretty ridiculous that the airline does not include water over a three hour travel time."
