Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "Waited 55 minutes for baggage claim in Auckland. No reason given. I expect better service from Air New Zealand even though I understand the baggage handler’s are different group"
Cons: "Repeatedly delayed, almost missed my next flight"
Pros: "The food we were served was of excellent quality which is so unusual when it comes to airline meals, crew and service was great as well. Obviously Air NewZealand have a far better understanding of what there customer base require compared to their competitors"
Cons: "Could not fault anything"

Cons: "I enjoyed it all :)"
Cons: "Very nice services"

Cons: "Perfect flight. Delicious meals. Great crew."
Cons: "The flight was not on time There was no food on the plane for us even though we paid “full service carrier” price There were very few free movies!!! This is horrible. We wished we’d flown with Jetstar - lack of everything like with air New Zealand but at least the price would be much lower!"
Pros: "Checking in, bag drop, and boarding were all super fast and easy. Flight was on time."
Pros: "trivia was fun"
Pros: "Very efficient trip."
Cons: "One flight attendant was subdued and not too bubbly."
Pros: "Pleasant staff"
Cons: "A few more beverage options, juices perhaps."
Pros: "Crew were lovely."
Cons: "Had a lot of hassle adding baggage to this leg of my trip on booking. At check in i was asked to pay $130 for baggage, which was no surprise. Luckily Air New Zealand ground staff sorted it out and I did not have to pay. I will book direct with the airlines next time."
Cons: "Upon arrival we were informed that each checked bag was $60. This was news to us. The NZ flight employee informed us that Air NZ informed us quite well of this info, this the booking agent was at fault."
Pros: "Very friendly staff. Free wine and cheese or choices of cookies—extra servings too."
Cons: "Seats are just standard—headrest part doesn’t adjust"
Cons: "We were late arriving, the cabin crew although they were pleasant, didn’t do enough to allow the passengers to get off first, for the connecting flight. Malaysian airlines stayed in the runway, fixing an engine and the pilot said they were delaying the plane, driving in for passengers to disembark. After being told by cabin crew that a number of us were late for connecting flight, that they were going to wait for us, they didn’t and we were told we had missed the flight. We were kindly put on the next flight which wasn’t until five hours later. Unrealistic scheduling causes is to miss our flight and had us sitting at the airport for four hours, making it an unnecessarily long day. Not impressed."
Pros: "Great customer service. We flew on Air New Zealand and United, and the contrast was big. ANZ stewards showed much higher level of pride in serving their passengers."
Pros: "No bags on an international flight?! I had to pay $375 for 3 bags. Last minute changes with a layover, instead of a 3 hr flight it was a 6 hr flight and NO FOOD not even available to purchase.... very confusing very disappointed...."
Pros: "It was operated by air New Zealand so the service was top notch once I was able to resolve all other issues boarding."
Cons: "We had a flight bought on virgin Australia and operated with air New Zealand. The air New Zealand part was all great plane boarding etc, the horrible part is that we bought baggage allowances with virgin and they never transferred the information to air New Zealand. So there I am from the USA in a foreign country boarding a flight being asked to pay 500 nz dollars for a few kilos when I had already paid for it. Having to produce emails and payment information on something I had done months in advance. Overall I won’t recommend virgin next time I’d book directly with air New Zealand"
Pros: "Meal was excellent"
Cons: "Would have liked a blanket, it was a bit cold."
Pros: "I liked that it got me from point a to point b. I had to pay extra to watch movies, no meal on an international flight (tbh I'm not sure what I ticketed and didn't tick while booking, but I mean it was nz to aus, come on)."
Cons: "Not getting my luggage across the ditch, paying for movies as an extra, no meal."
Pros: "The flight departed on time, arrived on time - run of the mill stuff for Air NZ. Crew very good as per normal"
Cons: "I swear the seats are getting more and more 'scrunchy'. There are more appropriate places to get almost intimate with your seat buddy."
Pros: "The crew was great and the Hawaiian fruit drinks were a great introduction to Hawaii."
Cons: "The check in, the baggage drop off and pickup were very confusing and it made it a little stressful having to change flights. Boarding passes are also difficult to obtain through other airlines."
Cons: "Friendly and efficient"
Pros: "good entertainment"
Cons: "we purchased a sky couch for an extra $700 and was not put in a skycouch row. I have contacted Air New Zealand and have yet to hear back from them."
Pros: "Snacks and drinks"
Cons: "No plug in"
Cons: "Boarding is an issue. Please have more staff in the early stages of boarding to make sure people go to the correct lines . It's not immediately obvious and leads to frustration . I wasn't too bothered as I worked it out quickly but I could hear many others expressing their frustration around me . I was disappointed in the movie selection. I wanted more new release movies to choose from . Cabin crew friendly and polite . Love the wine ! Put up with being cramped .. would love more leg room but overall very happy ! Thank You everyone involved !"
Cons: "Check In Issues related to code share flight"
Pros: "The flight attendants were friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. Appeared to be very accommodating for other passengers."
Cons: "No issues. Everything was great!"
Pros: "Good IFE"
Cons: "No enforcement of carry on - therefore no bin space"
Pros: "Fr]iendlyt, efficient flight attendants"
Pros: "The capitan spoke and explain that was perfect taking into account that was a cloudy day."
Pros: "Nothing in particular--it was a short flight. I did appreciate that the crew went ahead and turned on the entertainment system even though it was a short transit time (we were on a plane meant for trans-Pacific travel--only reason it was available in the first place)."
Cons: "No complaints here."
Pros: "Fantastic crew!"
Pros: "Cool dimmers for window shade; flight attendant notice we did not have headphones and gave us some first class looking ones that really cancels out the noise. Although we had it in the pocket we did not choose to use at that time but she took it upon herself. Staff always friendly."
Pros: "The food was good, the accommodation, although it been a long flight everything was allright"
Pros: "Some of the crew were excellent service wise"
Cons: "Some of the crew were less than what I would expect service wise"
Pros: "Very Innovative. Love the Premium Economy seats. And unlike many other airlines that do Premium Economy the food is not just economy food. It is far better and as good as anything you get in Business."
Cons: "The seat was not all that comfortable and being at the front of the section meant I couldn't stretch much. The breakfast was OK - nothing special"
Pros: "Everything was on time, comfortable & smooth, online checkin was clear & easy. Helpful, responsive staff at every level. A million times better than my other travel leg with United (but that's nothe saying much...)"
Pros: "The best ever business class check in and superior lounge and breakfast."
Pros: "Smoothe flight"
Cons: "1/2 hour late to depart"
Pros: "Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous!!!!!! Flight Crew was very friendly, helpful, and always smiling."
Pros: "On time service and the captain was good with updates"
Cons: "Everything was fine. Nothing stands out as great or bad."
Pros: "aisle seat"
Cons: "no food...not even orange juice."
Pros: "Service etc etc absolutely fine"
Cons: "Handling at Melbourne Tullamarine was poor. The plane landed on time but was sent to the wrong dock and that caused a lot of time wastage. This seems to happen in Australian airports more than anywhere else."
Pros: "Consistent quality experience. Friendly staff. Good food. Great in flight entertainment."
Cons: "Headphone socket was crackly with the supplied headphones."
Pros: "the flight was direct from CHC to MEL and it was on time"
Cons: "Even though i was booked on Air NZ, the flight was operated through Virgin Australia. This was only an issue when i tried to check in at Air NZ and was directed over to Virgin Australia. Once i found the right ticket counter to check in, i found that there was an extra baggage fee of NZ$130 that i had to pay to check my bag. Also, dinner seemed to be included for just about everyone sitting around me, and it was not included for me. I don't remember having the option of booking dinner with my flight. The agent at the Virgin Australia counter mentioned that this often happens when booking flights through the websites that are not the carrier's direct website. I have used others before, and not had these same issues... oh well - i guess that's what i get for booking through FlightNetwork.com. I'll probably go directly to airline websites in the future."
Pros: "I was sitting in an exit row with tons of space. The men flight attendants were fantastic! On moved two boxes and we were able to prop our feet up. They were so attentive to us I felt as if I was in first class!"
