Pros: A comfortable suite is much better value for the money than a single room. Very clean and well decorated with neutral colours, granite counter... way better than a stark white wall. Bed was comfortable. Location is great, centrally located but not a crazy busy/noisy street. Great walking around James Bay and Fisherman's Wharf. I really, REALLY like that they take dogs too. The suite was super clean, no sign of dogs from other people which I liked (even though I have a dog)!

Pros: On the edge of the James Bay neighborhood, the Oswego is in walking distance to the Parliament, downtown, Chinatown and all the ferry and seaplane services in the inner harbor. Our family of four were very comfortable in the 1BR premium suite. The bistro is great for a cocktail with locals or a morning coffee. The concierge will hold your bags while you walk and shop if you’ve got a late clipper departure. We’ll be back!

Pros: Virtually everything - the place reminded me of the places my parents would take me as a kid when on holiday. Parking lot, very well kept gardens, friendly check-in with lemon water available and coffee in the morning. Comfy, old school decor and furnishings - but everything is clean and kept up - it's not at all tatty. Ice machine, vending machines, and a simple but immaculate room. I also left my laptop in my room by accident and the maid made a point of rushing after me to return it - so, honest staff as well.

Pros: Inside and out hotel was beautiful. Even though we were a few hours early and not able to check into our room yet they still allowed us to park in the hotel parking lot so we could go out and spend some time walking around the area and visiting the museum. The staff that I dealt with were very pleasant and courteous. There is a very nice restaurant located in the basement of the hotel and is accessible both from the lobby and from outside. The food was good and staff was courteous and the prices were not too bad at all.
Cons: It’s an older hotel so there is no elevator and no air-conditioning. I have a bad back and stairs are difficult so having to go up to the third-floor was not easy. Luckily it was cool in the evening and overnight so the lack of air conditioning turned out to be Ok. It also would have been nice if there was some kind of complementary breakfast like Continental or just a small buffet but unfortunately there was not. Although they do give you a card when you check in that it allows you 15% off your meal in the restaurant that is located in the basement.

Pros: Extremely attractive hotel with perfect location by the waterfront. Easy walking distance all over town. We enjoyed our room overlooking the harbor. Gracious, helpful staff. We were happy with the Courtyard Cafe, which provided good sandwiches, coffee, and dessert for low-key suppers. Island Time Tours, booking right there in the Grand Pacific, took us to Butchart Gardens and picked us up again at our requested time. What a very nice arrangement. When it was time to leave Victoria, we chose the Victoria Airport YYJ Shuttle as more economical than a taxi. The Shuttle arrived at the front door and delivered us to the airport comfortably and in good time. We were happy in every way with our four nights at the Grand Pacific and would gladly stay there again.

The bar at the bottom level was very popular, so much so that I wasn't allowed to enter as they were at capacity. I took my business elsewhere. The balcony door didn't seal super well, so there was a bit of a draft in that area.

Cons: Not up to the standards of other Fairmont Hotels we've stayed in. They messed up our meal reservations and even messed up the correction, so we never did eat there. Cons: Reserved a room with a king bed. We were traveling from Seattle via the clipper that couldn't sail due to the marine forecast. Once we realized our trip was going to take 7 hours via buss to reach the hotel, I called to notify that we would be arriving late and was assured my room would be ready and that we would have a king bed, not 2 doubles. We arrived at the hotel and no king beds were available. But then the representative said I could upgrade for $40 more per night and beaten down by the 7 hour trip I agreed to pay the fee. Then we get the bill and it was $60 + $4.85 PST + $1.21 MRDT + $3.03 GST. I understand that the taxes are what the are but should have been quoted them and the hotel should have honored the quote made on arrival. I was offered $10 per night discount by the manager but still feel mislead. As a Marriott rewards customer for years and one who has stayed at Marriott properties all over the world, I will not be returning to this property. The maid service was also poor. The room was not vacuumed nor were the sheets ever changed on our 3 night stay. Additionally when we arrived there was left over spoiled food in the fridge. Lastly they did not replace plates and silverware in the kitchenette and when we came back to the room with takeout, we had to eat out of plastic containers. I do not recommend this property. If you are accustom to Marriott service and hospitality, you will not find it here.

Pros: Yet again a reminder why to my reasoning to remain loyal to Marriott. From the warm welcome with the unexpected upgrade, staff and the perfect location. Marriott was a key factor to having one of our perfect vacations. Thank you Marriott and will be sure to see us again.

Cons: It was far from the main downtown core. They do provide a free downtown shuttle on a first come basis until 2300. I believe this hotel would do much better if they had a FREE airport shuttle AND a free continental breakfast. I know I will look for both in a hotel if I return to the area.

Pros: Great location overlooking the entrance to Victoria inner harbor. Very nice and helpful staff. Nicely designed rooms.
Cons: Worst: nearly all the pillows smelled of old sweat. We finally requested and received new, unused pillows. Avoiding dry cleaning pillows is not a good cost-cutting measure! Also, waited one hour for breakfast, after two complaints, received it with the explanation that here were "problems in the kitchen." To their credit, the restaurant wait staff seemed embarrassed and comped the breakfast. Another morning we decided to skip the menu and do the $17 buffet, which was MUCH worse that the free buffets you get at budget hotels.

Beautiful view, location is great! 20 min walk to downtown- but also a water taxi stop directly out back ($8 one way) and the hotel offers a free shuttle downtown. When you call from downtown, be prepared for the woman answering to be incredibly rude and then just hang up once you give your location. Also a 3 min walk from the Fisherman’s Wharf. - lots to see, great to check out with kids. Expensive food ($16 nachos, $20 single piece of fish and chips). There is no housekeeping offered. I stayed 4 days and my garbage can was overflowing- I even brought it down to the public bathroom and emptied it myself as that was the only garbage can around. There was one regular and one decaf coffee in room, with a door knocker indicating coffee would be refilled if left on. After 2 days and several requests, I finally received more. Pool is wonderful. It’s both indoors and outdoor, hot tub and sauna are also nice. Restaurant is insanely overpriced. Drip coffee is $5, two poached eggs with toast was $17. The Marina Manager is rude - I suspect it’s also her answering the shuttle calls. Front desk staff were very helpful. Shuttle driver is excellent! The hotel does not offer airport shuttle (and currently the service is on hold in Victoria, so taxi is the only option. It was $70 from the hotel).

Pros: The hotel is a bit out of the downtown area, but still pretty accessible. The location is beautiful looking over the inner bay. An upper floor is suggested. The room was clean and very comfortable.
Cons: The front desk staff was not rude, but just felt a little dismissive. The concierge is absolutely the wrong guy for the job. Again, not rude, but never smiled in our two interactions with him. He had trouble finding a city map for us. When we asked if the free shuttle could take us to a location, he just said no, but failed to help us try to find out how to get there. Just not the right guy for a job like that.

Then to leave we went thru the dining room, since I didn’t want to walk around the block. More stairs, so not easily accessable. The room did have shower and wall handles, which was great.

Pros: The location was excellent; convenient and easy to get to with parking out back. Wi-fi was good and as a secure place to leave your belongings, we had no issues.The rooms were mostly clean and I think the staff were quite polite.
Cons: I'm going to organize this into a list for the sake of readability: - The walls were paper thin. I heard children screaming, neighbors talking, and footsteps. - The bed and pillows just weren't very comfortable. I recommend bringing your own pillow if you like to sleep on your back. - There was no air conditioning, which is not mentioned anywhere in the description. - The doors barely worked. We had to try our keys multiple times and when we expressed our frustration we were told to just try it again with different keys (which also didn't work, because the door sensors weren't good). - We had to attend a particular function and asked if we could change in advance of our check out; and instead of being offered a room (which we had booked!) they told us to change in the rest rooms which were tremendously cramped and filthy (it's shared with two restaurants). Simply put; it's a budget hotel and if they were charging budget prices; I'd understand. But 300 dollars for one night (after tax) seemed a ludicrous price just for the waterfront location (something which other locations seem to have agreed to charge despite substandard offerings). I'm not opposed to being charged 300 dollars for a waterfront room in the core, but I expected better for it.

Pros: The location is perfect on the harbour.
Cons: I thought there might be enough of a breeze to cool down in the evening, but the noise from the pub below was too loud to leave the window open. It was a day below 25 degrees Celsius and still MUCH too warm in the hotel room (even with the fan provided in the room, which was definitely a very welcomed item!!) The elevator is also an issue ... only 1 elevator and it is extremely small. Unfortunately, I won't be staying again, I will pay a little more and stay elsewhere.

Cons: They charge $11/day to park 4 blocks away - wow! They have a small area in front of the hotel to pull your car in to drop bags off. But 2 cabs were parked there when I got there, so I had to walk 4 blocks with my bags, through crowds of people. Ridiculous situation. Also, the bar/restaurant is too small for the hotel.

Pros: Nice to have an indoor pool and sauna if a bit outdated and dark. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is a bar/grill on the first floor but never tried it. Menu didn't look that appealing. Internet worked well.
Cons: Room needed an update desperately. Was not too clean either. The double bed became a taco with 2 people in it and was not comfortable at all. The air conditioner was so loud it was super obnoxious, and the heater had a bunch of gunk in it. Really small TV too. Got a deal for $58 a night down from $137 but it wasn't even worth the $58. We stayed at the Econolodge up the road for 3 days prior for less money and the room was much nicer, larger, larger tv, cleaner, and included a continental breakfast. Skip this place and stay at the Econolodge.
