Cons: It was loud in the room. We were woken up be the seagulls. The jacuzzi tub that was promised Is just a bath tub and there is no pool at this hotel. We would not have stayed there if we didn’t think we had a jacuzzi tub.

Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect -- walking distance to both Beacon Hill Park (which your staff recommended, and we loved) and the waterfront and everything we wanted to see in the city. We enjoyed the spacious, clean accommodations. I really liked the oscillating fans, which were quiet and efficient. We appreciated the opportunity to enjoy the delicious chocolate toffee for free because we declined to have our linens replaced (which we would have done anyway, to support the environment). My daughter loved the private movie theater.

Cons: We stood in line for 15 minutes (I counted) while ONE staff member dealt with ONE check-in ahead of us. (And there were people behind us...). Sure, she apologized when it was my turn, but who cares? Why didn't she call another staff member to check in others and speed things up? Why wasn't I offered an upgrade, or free drink at the restaurant, or one day free parking, or something as compensation? And we were staying 3 nights. Nope. A perfunctory apology was all I got. And don't tell me that a manager somewhere wasn't monitoring the various security cameras which observe that check in desk, so they knew - but apparently didn't care. Shameful. Very, very disappointing for a supposed luxury hotel.

Cons: We felt the reno was poor. In trying to update it they missed the mark. Should have kept it classy like the other CP hotels and more in keeping with the grand style of the building. They tried to make it too contemporary and did a poor job of the lobby. The round silver columns are awful, as is the sparkly chandelier. Also for $629 per night I we expected the room a little nicer. The couch looked old and shabby, not classy. My pillows went flat and did not retain their shape at all. Plus, Victoria is really lacking in fine dining. It is moderate dining at best. The only place we found that was close to fine dining was the Courtenay Room.

Just like the other place we stayed at in Vancouver, Pacific Gateway Hotel, this hotel also amplified the Canadian civility the country is known for. We were given a nice upgrade to a suite that made us feel right at home, with a dining room and kitchen. Our room was clean, and housekeeping did a great job of making our room. We liked how they all helped each other. The gift shop worker was friendly and accommodating. She had availability of detergent for laundry as well as postage stamp for a birthday card we wanted to send back home. This hotel has nice landscaping, is quiet and has a convenient restaurant. The location is within walking distance of the inner bay in Victoria as well as the Empress Hotel for high tea. Public transportation was close by and readily available.

Cons: The Blue Crab restaurant was overrated and overpriced; my cod was overcooked but the kitchen remade it and gave us a discount. Another guest was mistakenly given a key to our room, which was surprising to us all and slightly worrying about your security. We were however given free breakfast and parking for one day by way of apology.

The worst however was that we ordered a Burger and a glass of wine for my Mom at 6:30pm...I was still calling the restaurant at 8pm to find out where it was!!! It finally showed up around 8:20pm...not impressed.

Cons: The room we were given was very nosy (Room 413). Directly out side the door was a building ventilation unit that was incredibility nosy. So much so that at night it was impossible to sleep. It felt like the bed was vibrating from the nose. I put my hand on the wall and it also felt as if it was vibrating. The Hotel moved us to another room which was better, but you could also hear the air conditioning from the room above. The beds were very comfortable, but its irrelevant if the room is so nosy. The nose had nothing to do with the refurbishment work going on

At the reception they mentioned repeatedly that it was since there was not enough balance on our credit card, which is embarrassing in front of other guests. After 15 minutes it appeared that they had problems with European credit cards and therefore our payment did not get through. They used another machine and then everything was fine. For such a nice hotel, we would have expected an apology.

Cons: Room was large with kitchen facilities but old fashioned and needs an upgrade. Only one bedside table and lamp set between two queen beds, which is annoying and inconvenient. Noisy people in room overhead ran a spa bath at 2am which woke us and disturbed our sleep. Some guests couldn't care less about others it would seem, and a notice in the rooms would help, especially in such an old building. We complained to reception that morning but only got a brief reply of 'sorry'

I wish there is wash basin in the room. The free dinner is edible but not delicious and has no meat. No air condition in the room. We had to open the window or borrow small fan from the counter. I ended up with few insect bites at my fingers.

Cons: Bugs, hot air condition doesn’t cool the room. Uncomfortable. Woke up with two big bug bites in my arm and neck. May show the doctor and I’m worried about the kind of red black in my skin. This hotel is under renovation and shouldn’t operate coz of the dust, open ceiling in the lobby heating or cooling is not not enough to cool the whole room. The air condition switch is not working and it only cools about 1/2 meter of the room. The cart fir your luggage won’t really fit inside the filthy elevator and no parking .

The heaters outside made it really comfortable they even provided blankets in case your legs got chilly. The staff at the front the desk were very friendly and helpful. They lend you umbrellas when it rains and let you leave your car parked after you check out. If you get the the ferry there from Port Angeles it is literally right across the road.

Cons: The bathroom was terrible it had the step up and we had 2 rooms with 2 people with disabilities.Not an ideal situation. But we booked online so couldn’t explain our situation. Also no AC,so that meant the window wide open all night which of course meant noise from the pub downstairs and on the harbour front.

Cons: The elevator was humorously small, parking is a joke, and there was no A/C. We would have opened our window, but the restaurant's outdoor seating was right below our window. The price was the best I could find though for the convenient location.

Cons: They really shouldn't have taken the carpets out of the rooms they probably used to muffle the noise some what. The whole hotel sounded very hollow. You could hear everything! People in the next room. Doors slamming. There is no air conditioning so you have to leave your windows open and the noise from the restaurant below was loud but was quiet by around 11pm. House keeping was not good. The shampoo and conditioner came in very small bottles. So for the second night we asked the house keeper for another bottle, we didn't get any, we also didn't get more coffee or creamer or a clean coffee cup!
