Pros: Ross and Sylvia just know how to do bed and breakfast right. This was one of my favourite places to stay, only 2 nights which just wasn't long enough in this beautiful home and gorgeous Victoria. Before even going to our room, Sylvia asked us whether we had booked dinner (as it was a Saturday night), she recommended a couple of places and then rang and booked us in at the wonderful Cafe Brio. Sylvia then showed us around our apartment, I wished I could have moved in, it was so charming and cosy with gorgeous views and right next to the vegetable gardens of Government House. The area around Fairholme is really lovely and not too far from the city. Breakfast was superb, all homemade and just delicious. Ross was the perfect host, genuinely interested in you and your plans and happy to provide ideas of places to go and to do. We can't find anything to fault at all. In fact Ross and Sylvia should teach others how a Bed and Breakfast should be done. Hopefully one day we can return to Fairholme. PS Sylvia's recipe books are for sale and mine has already been well used. Thank you lovely Sylvia and Ross.

Pros: this B&B has a special charm, in a beautiful setting, not far from Victoria’s center. We moved around with our car, so the distance from the touristic parts was not bothersome to us. The owners are very hospitable and professional. We enjoyed meeting other guests and chatting at breakfast. The room was very cozy and had all that we needed for our 2 nights’ stay.

Pros: Fairholme Manor is an excellent bed & breakfast. We stayed in two different rooms and they were both gorgeous, spacious, and comfortable. Sylvia is an excellent cook and breakfast every morning was delicious and very filling. Both Sylvia and Ros were so friendly and accommodating. They even upgraded us to suites because it's our honeymoon. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it without hesitation.

Cons: Our only complaint was it's a good 40-minute walk to downtown Victoria. It is a quiet, easy walk, but a bit long, especially if you wanted to go out at night. If you're okay with walking, this is an excellent place to stay. That being said, it is only a short cab ride to the downtown area if you want to go out at night (about 10 minutes).

Cons: The breakfast delicious - though a plate of food..broken up into what they called a "4 course" meal is a bit deceiving. it was exactly the same amount of food you'd get at a restaurant. The fireplace did not work nor the heater in the bathroom..so it was cold getting out of the shower.

Pros: Here is a summary of our likes: Our room ("chamber") was upgraded without a request prior to us arriving - instant "like!" and thank you. I really appreciated character of this home. In fact, in the evening hours, it had a little haunted vibe. Nicely preserved interiors, yellow soft lighting, wood paneling, period furniture, candelabras, stained glass, narrow stairway to our attic room, the occasional squeaking of a floorboard. Buffet breakfast included hot items, was delicious and plentiful. It was in a beautiful formal dining room with a huge fireplace mantle. I liked that you could sit with other people at a long table or take one of the smaller private tables. Inn is in a residential neighborhood just a short walk to the Governor's garden/mansion. Walking distance from the harbor is 30-40 min. Overall, the neighborhood is very nice with many older Victorian homes. Everyone at the house was friendly and nice to us.
