The agents arrived late, they seemed to be having a good time and didn't feel the need to explain the reason for the delay nor apologize for it. - On my flight to Manila from Los Angeles, I did not check in any luggage. I had a carry-on and a backpack that fit perfectly well into the overhead bins and underneath the front seat. On my flight from Manila to Los Angeles, I was not allowed to take the same set on board because the total weight exceeded 7 kg. This put me in a bind because the heaviest item I had was my small LCD monitor which was in my backpack. I had to put it into the carry-on with wheels which I had to be checked-in. I would have prepared to carry it in my backpack because it is a fragile item. When I was told to sign a document that absolves the carrier of any liability for the checked-in luggage and I refused, the China Airlines Duty Officer in Manila informed me that unless I sign the document, my luggage will not be loaded on the plane. I felt extremely frustrated by the attitude of the Duty Officer who didn't hesitate to threaten me and insisted that the rule was imposed on them by the TSA in the US. Instead of helping me work out a solution to the difficulty I was facing, he simply walked away with a dismissive attitude."

I felt so sorry for others."

Pros: "Despite having a high "Sapphire" status with this One World Partner and being promised "preferente" seats by the airline when I reserved seats months ago, I was unable to view the seats or check in online. Both their App and their online system were down and unavailable. We were never able to view our actual seats online. The "preferred seats" my group on 5 could not have been worse!! We were seated consistently in row 11 or the very last row of the aircraft immediately in front of the lavatory, where the seats do not recline at all and where you hear and smell the bathroom for the entire flight.. There was NO space to breathe in our seats. I have traveled on dozens of airlines and this experience and these seats were the WORST! After this happened once, I specifically asked to insure that it would not happen again and was told that seats on my next flights were good but they were the same horrible seats. Part of our itinerary was on LAN and part was on TAM, who have now combined into 1 airline, but still operate on separate systems. So LAN customer service could not see the seats for TAM flights and vice versa. Their online system reflected a changed time for our return flight from 145pm to 250pm from Rio. We verified it 3 times (even though we could not check in or view our seats because of "technical difficulties" we could see the new departure tie, and the change was confirmed by our Sheraton concierge, but when we arrived to the airport they informed us that we had arrived to late for our 145pm flight! We showed them the app that showed our flight was changed to 250pm and they could not explain the problem. We were delayed 4 hours and arrived too late for dinner in Santiago. The final 4 hour flight at 4am flight from Santiago to Lima was torture. The seat in front was literally 6 inches in front of my face when they reclined and I could not recline. It was absolute TORTURE! Avoid this airline! To add the agony, they have lost my bag and do not know where it is!"

They lost my customs paper, and then proceeded to accuse me of "selling it"--They took it after I passed through customs initially and if they put it back in passport after they threw them all in plastic bags- god knows where it is, or who's hands it was in who may have took it. They would not give us food vouchers, or water. They couldn't figure out how to get buses and hotel rooms for people- basic simple business skills-- add number of passengers going to hotel, calculate number of seats per bus and that will get you the number of buses needed--- they couldn't figure that out. I said that the number of the seat didn't matter, I just wanted my exit row seat that I paid for. She visibly rolled her eyes and told another attendant to accommodate me. Except she did it in a way like I was inconveniencing her. It made me feel very insignificant."

Security needs to inspect every element of your carryon in spite of the fact you were already screened on your previous flight. They will dump out your entire bag to inspect all contents. Extremely easy to lose important things. They confiscate all spare batteries if they only appear to be high power range regardless of what the actual voltage is."

Cons: "Most important AVOID Beijing for transfer. 1.5 Hours on line, open unchanneled line with cut ins and it might be 2 hours if we were not a typical couple who walked past it not believing there could be sucha large line for merely doing and international transfer. This is of course after a long long walk with minimal signage. Good thing I scheduled a 4 hour layover - it became a 2 hour stand over. A horror. If I book that again I my wife may divorce me."
Pros: "staff was very friendly and helpful. I must say I was scared after reading some reviews but it was great and pleasant. I flew coach and would def do it again because of how smoothly it went. If I did put a negative comment it would be about the food, my friend liked her food but I am a picky eater so not so much for me. BUT it's air plane food so I wasn't expecting much."
Pros: "Crew was a bit nicer."
Cons: "China security was ridiculous but cant necessarily blame the airline. Bought water in the airport past security but was made to throw it out in a secondary check at the gate. Food was awful"
Pros: "The flight was short. They played a movie because we waited about one hour on the tarmac to take off."
Cons: "My luggage was lost. Because I don't speak Chinese, I am not sure if the crew was being truthful with me. Apparently it was my fault the bag was still in Beijing, and not in the final destination. I had to retrieve the bag the next day from the airport which was just kind of a production. Unclear, and not the most apologizing staff about the lost luggage."
Pros: "Polite staff, relatively comfortable and decent food."
Cons: "No form of in flight entertainment and chinese air regulations prohibit mobile phone operation. Boring, but not the worst."
Pros: "The plane is a major upgrade from any air china flight I've taken using economy! The screens are in full HD and every seat included a charging station for both USB and and regular plugs. The staff was very friendly and kind and they served two meals on the flight. I also appreciated how the crew would frequently bring water down the aisles but also gave you the option to get up and grab it yourself."
Cons: "The plane was pretty cramped and on a 13hr flight this can be bothersome."
Pros: "The boarding was quick and efficient."
Cons: "I travel a lot and have learned not expect much from airline food, but this one got my attention in a bad way. I also felt like I was inconveniencing the staff every time I asked for some water. I know thats not very tangible, it was just a feeling. Lastly the entertainment sucked. They had a very limited selection, old movies, and even some American movies that weren't available in English."
Pros: "This has got be the worst airline for customer service. I was on hold for over 2 hours on multiple occasions just to make a simple change to my ticket, which for some reason can't be done online. After realizing their customer service number is a complete hoax, I had to take an hour long train ride to the airport to make the change. Once there, I was told they couldn't make any changes and I would need to call customer service. I insisted calling was pointless at which time the aiine staff shruggered her shoulders and walked away. I made another attempt to call the customer service number, which I still believe no one at all works at. Needless to say, I ended up eating a $1000 plane ticket because of their refusal to help. DO GIVE THESE PEOOLE YOUR MONEY. THEY TOOM PLENTY OF MINE."
Pros: "Everything was ordinary. Nothing special."
Cons: "Food was terrible and yuk!. The attendents need to take a course on spoken English and how to be polite . Entertainment set Sucks! Only Chinese stuff. Need to add more English on a international flight. Could do a better job cleaning the toilets !!"
Pros: "Food was pretty good. 2meals and a snack. Would be better with more variety for snack options."
Cons: "More snack options - I can't eat mayonnaise and all their sandwiches had that. Also my flight was supposed to have WiFi and charging outlets-had neither"
Pros: "This time Air China were pretty on time for both all the trips I took, in contrast to its constant delay in the past."
Cons: "The food was not appealing. The service of the crew is ok but not too enthusiastic or friendly"
Pros: "Very efficient airlines and staff members. I never got on/off a plane so quickly. Staff was attentive to everyone's needs and were very friendly. I loved how affordable their roundtrip tickets were. I would fly Air China in the future!"
Cons: "There wasn't a good variety of entertainment on the flight, so I tried to sleep more on my 12 hour flight. There should be newer movies and more English movies. It seemed that most people on the flight weren't even Chinese, so it would be nice to lessen up on the Chinese movies to make room for English :) It was also very inconvenient how much this airlines changed their flight times."
Pros: "By far the cheapest booking cost... but at a cost"
Cons: "Every single leg that was not a code share ended up being delayed. Multiple bookings over multiple flights and date/times were delayed. Worst on-time of any major airlines. So you get what you pay for..."
