Pros: Situated in a more residential part of town - but only 10 - 15 min walk to all main attractions this hotel was awesome. Staff were ridiculously friendly. Place is like a 5 star hotel. Completely renovated - all high tech switches in the rooms.

Pros: Excellent service by very professional staff who were extremely helpful with all our needs. We had special religious needs on Saturday and the staff was very cooperative. The atmosphere was very special in this boutique hotel in Cannareggio area of Venice on the canal. Absolutely peaceful and serene atmosphere that made us forget all everyday concerns. We highly recommend staying here and we will definitely stay here again this summer when we return to visit Venice.

Pros: My husband and I recently stayed at the Ai More d'Oriente for 4 days and 3 nights in December 2014 and loved it. Here's what we loved:
LOCATION - The location was perfect... close, easy access to the vaperatto's (Venice's water taxis) as well as a short walk to the city center.
STAFF - The staff was super helpful, friendly and accommodating.
AMENITIES - Free wi-fi and breakfast.
ROOMS - Comfortable, clean, nicely decorated rooms. The rooms are small but 1. that's to be expected in Europe and 2. We didn't come to Italy to stay in the room so the size wasn't an issue for us.
Overall we felt we got an excellent value for what we paid. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Pros: The hotel was very clean quiet and centrally located. Near to St Marks Square, Rialto Bridge, shops and restaurants.
Cons: The breakfast service was not good on day one. The room was full of guests and only two members of staff who were trying really hard to cope with the amount of guests but were unable. Food was not being replaced on the buffet as the two members of staff were struggling to clean and turn round tables and take orders for hot drinks.

Pros: Venice
Cons: Avoid this hotel! They show pictures of a hotel near canal but when you arrive they take you to a different, much worse hotel Palazzo Bonvecchiati. The staff is rude, the roos are small - there is a table they've put in front of the wardrobe so you cannot access the wardrobe. The shower and hairdrier are the worst i've ever used. There is mold in the bathroom. The fact that they cheated about the hotel (they even advertise there is a parking :) sure there is! 2 km from hotel:) ) is absolutely unacceptable!

Pros: Great location with just walking distance to many tourist spots. Friendly and helpful staffs. The room is clean and spacious.
Cons: Please don’t use the name of the hotel to search in google map otherwise you will experience lost in venice like us. Use the full address to search instead

Hotel is a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's Square etc.
Cons: Staff are very well dressed and say the right words, but I never sensed any authenticity, warmth, friendliness, etc.. I asked for assistance on several occasions from different people related to getting to the airport, a restaurant recommendation, directions, etc and the responses were typically curt and robotic. The only exception was the porter/bellhop from the Philippines, he was great. I would expect more from a 4-star hotel when I'm paying $400-500 per night. It was as if they didn't like their jobs. The same experience was noted in the restaurant which was located in the sister hotel next door. Doubt I will return given the opportunity.

With its heritage setting on Riva degli Schiavoni, Hotel Danieli dominates the Venetian lagoon with spectacular views of the Grand Canal and islands. Also overlooking the Palazzo Ducale, the hotel is just steps away from Ponte Dei Sospiri and Piazza San Marco. The three palaces which comprise the hotel date from the 14th, 17th and 19th Centuries: Palazzo Dandolo in Venetian Gothic style, once home to the noble Dandolo family; Palazzo Casa Nuova, previously the city’s treasury; and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior, featuring guestrooms with balconies overlooking the lagoon on its upper floors. The three palaces house a rich collection of precious art and antiques that play witness to the city’s history, blended with contemporary comforts to meet the needs of cultured global travelers. Essential to the Danieli experience is its Restaurant Terrazza Danieli and cuisine concept, a magical voyage for the senses which retraces the oriental influences of spice traders and blends them with ingredients from the lagoon.

Pros: We arrived at the height of the floods with not only Venice under water but the hotel lobby waist high with water, Staff resilience, thorough organisation and a determination to keep things going meant that what could have been a disaster turned into a once in a lifetime Venice experience. Whilst the water remained high and moving around Venice wasn't possible, we headed upstairs to the 5th Floor terrace bar where a prolonged lunch more than made up for things. The long standing memory will be of the hotel porter meeting us on an improvised wooden walkway with a specially adapted and elevated trolley to wheel our bags through two feet of water.

Pros: Fantastic location. Clean and comfortable. Spacious marble bathroom with his and her basins. Excellent staff and service throughout. Spectacular views from the restaurant and attentive service at the ground floor bar. We paid for a standard room and got exactly what we expected a side room without a view but given we spent most of our time out and about that was absolutely fine for our needs. We ordered room service the first night and enjoyed two enormous club sandwiches (one would have been enough for us both) with a bottle of wine, all delivered promptly and set up on a lovely table with snowy white linens. We could not have been treated better.

Pros: This historic hotel is simply spectacular. The public areas of the hotel (and some of the guest rooms) are located in a 14th century palazzo that still has its original staircase running off the reception area. Our room with stand up balconies which overlooked the lagoon was just lovely, with a large and well appointed bathroom. The location a couple of minutes from San Marco Square is excellent. The hotel staff were uniformly helpful. The buffet breakfasts on the roof top terrace are well worth the money.

Pros: Chocolates each night were such a sweet treat. Concierge were helpful and friendly. Thank you!
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Struggling to find anything we didn't like. OK, the lifts didn't work ..... but what do you expect when the hotel has had the highest tides in 50 years. Things will be back to normal very quickly and Venice is pretty much back on it's feet already.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was very good
Cons: It’s very old school and the service so poor
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location was perfect and interior design of the hotel was beautiful
Cons: The rooms were very hot and air conditioner was not working , we face some difficulties to use the key of the room for opening , the heater inside the toilet was too much hot and its difficult to breathe inside
6.0 Good
Pros: Probably the closest 5 star hotel to St Mark's Square.
Cons: 1st night in hotel, shower did not drain and flooded the whole bathroom floor. Had to call for someone to come up and drain the shower. He ended up pulling out a big wad of hair the size of my fist.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Location is perfect. The staff was, for the most part amazing. The room was well appointed. The restaurants were definitely 5 star calibre
Cons: The concierge's were rude. They did not smile or even acknowledged me as I left and returned to the hotel. I was surprised, because when I stayed a the Metropole last year, this was not the case. They went out of their way to ensure we had everything
10.0 Excellent
Cons: It is and expensive hotel and therefore you need relatively deep pockets if you want to eat every meal there. Breakfast at 35 euros was expensive but the choice was fantastic and it was worth every penny for the quality, service and the stunning views.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, architecture and staff.
Cons: Not one thing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros:
Cons: The only thing we didn't like was the fact that we couldn't start the air condition as per the hotel's policy according to the time of our stay. However, when we reserved the hotel, air condition was one of the facilities provided.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Was great .great customer service ..
Cons:
With a stay at Hotel Violino d'Oro in Venice (San Marco), you'll be steps from Grand Canal and St. Mark's Square. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff.

Pros: The canal view room/ breakfast / hot showers/ toiletries and clean rooms/ champagne surprise for anniversary trip.

Pros: We had a beautiful, large room with a great, clean bathroom. The staff was amazing and accommodating and super helpful. They helped us print our train ticket and even supplied us with packing tape when we asked! We were also able to leave our luggage at the hotel after we checked out so we had the rest of the day to enjoy without lugging around our large suitcases. A wonderful experience with service at a higher level than the amount we paid... Definitely would book again.

Pros: The location is good, very close to the train station and the bus station- where you get the airport bus to. The hotel was very clean. Breakfast was good.
Cons: I have booked double bed however we had two single beds. Bathroom was extremely small and you wouldn't rate it as 4* hotel's bathroom. Also behind our windows we had 4 air conditions which first of all killed our "wall" vue completely and also made constant buzzing noise.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location. Good restaurant nearby.
Cons: Room is really run down and inconvenient. So many steps up and down just to reach our room. We are given like an attic room where one of the room heating was not really working. It has a pretty stale smell. Service was minimal. It is at best a 3 star hotel, definitely not 4 star.
5.1 Okay
Pros:
Cons: When a staff brought my luggage up, I gave 1 euro, it may not be much, but I researched that you do not tip in Europe in general. Staff made sarcastic comments which was very rude. I will not go back here for this one guy, I was ripped off quite a bit in europe, so research and be firm to say "NO" when they ask for more money or tip.

Cons: Beds could be queen or king , the 2 single beds are a joke . Pushing them together is pointless. A romantic hotel in one of the best cities on earth , should have bigger beds .

4.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel location was perfect.
Cons: The breakfast was very poor but there was a reasonable selection. The layout was not good because you had to keep getting up to go for your breakfast and the corridor was always crowded with people either going to the food or returning from getting their food. We were unable to open our bedroom windows because of the smell of fat containers recycling the fat. A disgusting smell.
3.1 Mediocre
Pros: It's at good location
Cons: The worst and rudest customer service ever seen. Do not go by pictures, in reality their rooms are very bad. It does not deserve even one star. I ended up making new reservation of an apartment by paying 200 euro per night. Moreover when I tried to cancel my old reservation via booking agency, they threatened us that we may have to leave their property. Now think of what you do when you are with the family on a vacation. Over commercialization has degraded quality everywhere. But this one is the worst. Please STAY AWAY from this hotel.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Just the location, everything else just okay.
Cons: Tiny room and even smaller shower, the hotel looks very tired! Jusy
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, right on the water bus stop, and just at the bottom of the Rialto bridge. Very efficient check of our group of 18. We were encouraged to pay up front for our two night stay, which we did. All seemed friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Within three hours we were wading in flood water, the hotel never mention the forthcoming flood, which they had prior warning. For two days we had no electricity nor hot water. The only communication from the hotel was to say that we should stay in our rooms until the flood went down. Being true Brits we put up with it, because we felt sympathy for them. The electricity did come back on in the early hours of our final night. Ours was the only hotel in that area to have no lighting at all, other hotels managed to get some light on. This was not just our hotel the whole of Venice had issues, with the flood. It was so sad to see the businesses having to cope with the flood whic keeps coming back. Why doesn’t some one do something about it?
7.5 Good
Pros: Location is great.
Cons: The room is dated but comfortable. The mattress is hard, but that pretty common in Europe.
4.8 Okay
Pros: Location is good
Cons: We were placed in what is called "the Annex" - never stay there - it is accessed by a dimly lit alley way filled with garbage - no evalators and no view whatsoever. The Hotel Rialto should be embarrassed to count this as part of their establishment.
6.0 Good
Pros: only hotel location
Cons: No room service, no break fast, no coffee machine and bathroom was not properly cleaned
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was central and perfect, I had a balcony grand canal view room so being able to step outside and see Rialto bridge and the Grand Canal made my room worth it.
Cons: Bathtub is very narrow and one of the lights didn’t work in the room. Minor stuff.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was awesome, the panoramic terrace was amazing, and the location was the best in Venice!
Cons: Pillows could be fluffier and the shower was a logistical nightmare!
6.3 Good
Pros: Excellent location.
Cons: Front desk not as helpful as most hotels are. Housekeeping cleaned room leaving it with NO towels, bathroom cups and no toilet paper. Very rare.
5.7 Okay
Pros:
Cons: Staff was very rude
We had lot of luggage there was no one to help take the luggage through the stairs.

Pros: Very close to the train station, which made it great with kids.
Cons: N/A

Pros: Typical European 4 star. Old,out of date, small rooms. Firm bed. Worked me however wife suffered a little from numb hips. Good location. It was Venice
Cons:

Pros: Great location - easy access from Train station.
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing to dislike
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: The walls were paper thin. We heard everything happening in the hotel all night long. No sleep. Only one pillow per person. The hotel we stayed at the before in Vienna gave us two per person. The hotel we stayed after in Naples gave us two per.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great! It was right across from the train station. The included breakfast was a bonus. And all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The A/C in the rooms needs some work. When it's so hot outside all you want to do is get back to a cool room, which wasn't the case. If visiting in the summer, be prepared to sleep in your sweat.
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was good
Cons: The room was a bit stuffy and it took a while for the air conditioner to work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, the room, the location.. it was all perfect! We arrived in Venice at the train station and it was a less than five minute walk to the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable- I would go back in a heartbeat!
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We wanted a hotel away Piazza San Marco and away from the tourist crowds. We also wanted something that was convenient for train station. We had a room on canal with great views.
Cons: Being close to vaporetto (water bus) stops on grand canal that they all start running around 5am. Not really that loud.
7.5 Good
Pros: The train station is just opposite the hotel. Very convenient to travel around too, water bus stop is just opposite too.
Cons: The bathtub is very small and there is no space to move. I understand itz a raised bathtub, if you step wrongly during shower you will slip and fall. It is a accident prone bathtub. Other then this everything is good.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location!!! Great view from the top
Cons:

5.0 Okay
Pros: Great location being a short walk of San Marco square and some great restaurants and designer shops
Cons: The hotel felt completely under staffed, On our first evening my wife and I returned to the hotel after a lovely meal at a nearby restaurant we thought we would have a drink at the hotel bar before we called it a night, when I say bar I should say counter! As there were only two seats and no staff to be seen anywhere so much so after 15 minutes I thought it may even be an honesty bar!! But just as I contemplated serving ourselves the only member of staff bar the receptionist appeared (think faulty towers sketch and you wouldn’t be far wrong!) between my wife and I, I think we ordered 8 different drinks from the menu to be told each time, sorry we don’t have! I am not sure if this is a ploy to force you to use your mini bar?! Breakfast was underwhelming unless you like a boiled egg or cheese and ham toastie! There we a number of other display plates and baskets which led us to believe they operated the same stock taking skills as they did with the bar! So we ventured out every morning with an empty belly! (I would save your money and not pay for the breakfast and venture out to some lovely restaurants instead) Our junior suite with canal view was lovely bar the bathroom which I personally felt was more 2* than 4* I am 6ft and the poorly positioned shower fitting above the bath meant I had to squat to shower, the large poorly frosted window also meant anyone on the communal balcony area immediately outside the bathroom received more of a shock than they bargained for! The pillows were the equivalent of sleeping on a couple of bricks. Overall if they invested more money in their staffing and stock levels they would have the ingredients of a good hotel. We did experience one poor member of staff Irenie (if I recall her name correctly) we found her very disinterested and lacking in any people skills. All in all, I would recommend finding a different hotel.

Cons:
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Our room had a lovely view, it was very clean, warm & nicely decorated. The reception staff were very courteous & helpful.
Cons: The water was tepid on one of the mornings when we were having showers. The bed & the pillows in the deluxe room we stayed in weren’t very comfortable but were satisfactory. No English speaking channels on the tv or Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The hairdryer was very poor. For a four star hotel I feel these areas should be addressed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful. They made every effort to accommodate us. The location was perfect; very clean and beautiful facility. Good breakfast!
Cons: Room was very small; we had 3 large suitcases and it was difficult to maneuver because the space was very small

Cons: the coffe and limoncello we had at the lobby, it was a bit too expensive... The breakfast room was a bit small or maybe because of the flood ( acqua alta ), the tourists were having difficult times as well as the hotel staff...

Cons: Very expensive and room could do with a refreash - looking very tired
4.2 Okay
Pros: Great location. Great view of the basin.
Cons: It was noisey, staff were unhelpful and breakfast was not only awful but service shockingly bad. The walls were paper thin and you could hear whole conversations from the adjacent room, residents banging doors from 6am 2 out of the 3 mornings, maids starting at 7am and making noise outside the room and leaving the rubbish there all day, small double meant very small double (box room), breakfast - poor choice and quality if you were lucky enough to be seated, find a plate and be given cutlery. Staff were not bothered or helpful even when we spoke to them.

Pros: The location was right behind main square and easy to find. It was clean.
Cons: We didn’t like only one thing about the hotel that the breakfast time was said at 7 am but it was late and a lot of guests were waiting in front of the doors. For us it was important to start breakfast at 7 in order to catch our train. but as it was late we didn’t wait for it and left.

5.1 Okay
Pros: The location near San Marco square cannot be beat. The lobby is beautiful.
Cons: The furnishings were old and disappointingly faded for the price we were paying. One of our first rooms was located next to the air conditioning motor on the roof and was insanely loud. To their credit, they did allow us to relocate that room. Upon check in, we were told breakfast was included in our room and the times it would be available. Disappointingly, after our party of six had started eating breakfast, we were then told that our rooms did not include breakfast. When I reminded them of what they had told us at checkin, they said I must have misunderstood. 15 euro per person when we could have easily fed my four children for 1/5 of that price at the bakery around the corner had we known was annoying.

Cons: The AC was very loud, we have to turn it off before going to bed. Otherwise, it will be like a helicopter hovers all night. We got a canal view room, yes we can see the tiny canal through the window; it is not worth to do the upgrade from standard room

Cons:
6.7 Good
Pros: Lobby, room
Cons: Complicate access to room and fact that it did cost us 150 € for an early check out- 50€ baggage carry and 100€ water taxi- of course/ no receipts. I consider hotel should take more care of customers thinking we did ask for transfer with 2 days before

Cons: The room was a little small The address in San Marco 848 is was confusing. The name of the street it seems to be actually “Calle di Fabbri”. I hope the hotel staff correct this problem or make a clarification. This was a problem for me when arriving late at night.
