Pros: One of the concierges was incredibly friendly and tremendously helpful to me the first afternoon. Likewise, since I arrived early, after traveling internationally, it was nice to be able to access my room early. Although first impressions were good And the hotel was very clean, it also seemed a little stark and spartan. Good selection at breakfast. Decent fitness room. I was awakened the first morning by what sounded like a complete removal of furniture and remodeling of the adjoining unit. This was a little distracting. On a prior visit to Madrid, I stayed near the Prado. For some people, the immediate access to Gran Via May be perfect for them; with the excavation of the palace gardens and adjoining area, however, the location seemed a little distant for me.

Pros: Hotel Villa Real is ideally located close to restaurants but still quiet at night. The bed is comfortable,the staff very helpful and looked after us as we arrived into Madrid at 9pm with no accommodation booked for the evening. Cons: My room was worn-out. Scuffed up furniture, saggy couch, closet door had to be slammed to shut it, king size bed was just two twin mattress shoved together with an uncomfortable seem down the middle. The bathroom design was bad: the second sink was unusable, unless you were willing to sit on the bidet while using it. The shower didn't have a full length door/curtain so two people in the shower resulted in the bathroom being a flooded mess.

Pros: Axel hotel is rich in colour and design - interior is very well decorated with a modern boutique feel about it. Staff are very friendly and happy to assist when needed. Rooms were well equipped with all working facilities. If anything else was needed, they were happy to be of assistance. A complimentary glass of Cava was given upon arrival to enjoy on the 7th floor any night (roof top bar), which was a nice and unexpected gesture. The hotel is perfectly located. Near the metro station (Antón Martin/Sol) and very close to all shopping districts e.g.Gran Via. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone. Thanks for your hospitality.

Cons: I was shocked that my 2 hardboiled eggs and yogurt (in room breakfast) was $30. My husband got fruit and Muesli and it was an additional $30. $60 for a small breakfast!!! Apparently if you order anything they charge you for a full buffet. Had I know that, I would have just gone downstairs to the buffet. The laundry service was also ridiculously priced. My husband washed 4 pairs of boxers and three pairs of socks and it was $60. Shame on us for not planning better, but shame on them for price gouging.

Incredible! Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. I didn’t want to leave. Small gym, but I was the only one in it. Airport bus stop is just a couple mins walk. Coffee and pastry shops in close proximity and the area felt safe, I’m a young loan traveller. Walked the entire city, it’s beautiful and I’d recommend this hotel.

The rooms are ample and clean, but my favorite feature of hotel was a handheld city guide (converted Google phone) that was programmed with suggestions for activities, and info about tourist attractions in city. I live in the USA so my phone would have been roaming and expensive to use. The city guide allowed me to navigate the city, and look up information as I walked around. It was extremely helpful.

Cons: Shower dripped constantly. The ac worked sometimes. Arrived with a child and 4 pieces of luggage not one person greeted or helped us down the steps into the foyer although there were at least 6 bell boys standing there. They seem to assume their customer want to steal from them. It's very strange. The pool is tiny and sunbeds are scarce. Apart from the one you can pay 100 euros to have all day. On the last day we decovered an infestation of red ants. Generally spent as little time in the hotel as possible.

- Location wasn't great as its far from city center - if you wish to walk daily to the centre or attraction this is not the place. you will have to rely taxi or metro. But if you go to airport, then you save a lot of time (though money is same from wherever you go to airport) as its end of the city.

Cons: There was no fitness facility. Before (according to other internet reviews), the hotel would give you a day pass to a nearby gym. During my stay in late December, even that facility was closed. It would have been fine if they had told me at check-in, but I was really looking forward to exercising and was disappointed when they told me that there was none. I think it's a reasonable expectation that if a hotel advertises that they have fitness facilities, that they have it all days of the year.

Pros: fair price but better options in same price range in neighborhoods walking distance to tourist sites, restaurants, cafes and shopping streets. This hotel is on the far edge of Salamanca but far from Serrano which is the main shoppping street.
Cons: Let me start with the worse. THE ROOM was STEAMING HOT and it is impossible to control the room temperature. I was told that the heating will be eventually turned off but I was at the hotel mid April when it was warm in Madrid; the room temperature was unbearable. I opened the windows and left the door open to generate a breeze but it was still too hot for an afternoon nap. The evening was better as nights cool off and I was able to open the window to let in cooler air. The hotel’s solution was to turn off the heat but that didn’t solve the problem during the days and afternoons. This needs to be fixed or I could not recommend this hotel. If you are a tourist, stay closer to Sol, Gran Via, Alcalá, Chueca or Centro where you find most places of interest to tourists. This hotel is on the edge of Salamanca far from Salamanca's chic shopping street Serrano. None of the places you will visit are walking distance. The hotel also need refurshining. It has an odd moth ball smell and the floor in my room was not clean and the floor laminate was torn. Stay elsewhere.

Joining the two twin beds generally solves this issue, however in this case, the wheels under the bed with no brakes was a little annoying and on a couple of occassions the beds moved (either creating a separation between them or push the other bed).

Cons: The toilet in the room was too close to the shower for me. I am 185 cm tall and my knees did not fit when I was trying to sit on the toilet, thus I had to use the shared toilet. The shower was missing a door and was small. The window in the bathroom was not able to open a little bit and was either closed or fully open, which put it over the sink making it uncomfortable to use. Also, the room I was in had three people snoring very loudly, one snoring person, the loudest, was there my entire stay, which did not allow me much sleep... even with ear plugs! Therefore, I paid for three nights of really poor sleep. Perhaps there should be a room for people who snore or at least a warning that people in a certain room snore a lot. Nobody likes to pay for a bed and not be able to use it. I understand it is a hostel and things like this happen, though the whole room was shaking with the amount of snoring going on... it was excessive.

Stayed as single in small but suitable single room, and also stayed several days with family in very large "family sized" room. Suited wife, me, and two teenage boys just fine. Two large rooms and two individual mattresses fold out from sleeper sofa in second room.

Pros: American who enjoyed staying at the Agumar Hotel for a few days. Friendly and helpful staff, bilingual, comfortable, beautiful old world charm lobby, nice bar & breakfast area, clean, comfortable & spacious room, close to metro, and advance purchase was a good price. I would stay here again.

Cons: I smelled strong cigarette smoke on the corridor but when we complained, the staff dismissed us. The room was fairly tired and worn out.

Cons: Bad! They literally kick you out their hostel in checkout time at 11am I did my checkout and 11:10am I asked to keep my bags there, despite they charge for it. I would like to walk around the city and go back there at 6pm to take my bags and go to the airport But then employee Felix was very rude and saying that I couldn't because it was more than 11am and now I should pay the day-rate because was 11:10am or go out He was screaming and out of control, I don't now if he was drunk or what happened, but to avoid troubles I went out I did not complain about it but they say in description that they have kitchen, but there is only a microwave to use and they almost don't have toilet (saw only 1 toilet and 3 places only to take a shower without toilet for all the hostel) And they also are more expansive than other hostels around, bad choice! I just didn't change to other hostel since the beginning because I was with too much bags

Cons: The place is dirty, sheets have stains even when they seem clean, sockets are ripped from the walls, most of the things are broken, there's not a slightest possibility for privacy since beds don't even have the curtains and if you want to take a shower after the cleaning lady cleans the shower rooms, watch out she doesn't see you because she will be rude to you. Because all of that, I didn't even try to have a breakfast at that place hence I cannot say anything about the food.
