Upon arrival we were told there was a problem with our room, so we were given a free upgrade to a room that was 3 levels better than the one I had booked. It was a special birthday for my wife, and all the staff knew and kept wishing her a happy birthday. They even made and delivered a small birthday cake to the room. Breakfast was delicious and the bed was amazing !

Pros: This hotel is by far the best I've ever stayed in in Amsterdam. From the moment you arrive outside the hotel, you know you are in for a treat. We stayed here twice in December and it was worth every penny. The rooms are amazing, the staff are wonderful, the breakfast is out of this world, and the location is simply fantastic.

Pros: The location is great.
Cons: Some Premium rooms do not come with baths. I did not know this. I was travelling alone with my daughter we paid £1000 for 2 nights overlooking a courtyard with a noisy generator. The staff on friday night were rude and unaccommodating. They thought I should know and have booked the bath in advance. Specifically the ‘manager’ Joep Biset - he made me wait for 20 minutes as I requested a review his teams decision and he was flippant and arrogant“ how could I not know” The whole team were not professional. Not at all the 5 star get-away my daughter and I planned before she returns to boarding school. DO NOT RECOMMNEND

Cons: A twin room had been reserved which we didn’t request and we had to then pay extra for a double this despite the fact that we had booked a superior room. I didn’t like the fact that if you did not pay extra for wi fi You had to log in again every day(Sofitel it’s 2020!). Also we were allocated one English teabag between us per day which we felt was super stingy. If it wasn’t for the fact that staff were super helpful I think our stay could have been spoiled.

Breakfast was delicious and the bed was amazing !
Cons: Nothing. It was all fabulous. It was the best hotel we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. We even had heated toilet seats. Never had that before.

Cons: We booked a classic room advertised as 19 sq meters which should be a reasonable size room. However our room looked so much smaller than expected, with only narrow walking sides around the bed and a very small closet. It was an unhappy living experience despite the so many other positive aspects of this hotel. We feel that this should be a single occupancy room.

Cons: Keys stopped working every day and it takes a very long time to get from the room tothe front desk to get new ones. I also was unable to make my first night due to a change in our flight that was beyond my control and although I called more than 24 hours before arrival they would not refund my first night stay. I would not suggest pre paying. I have worked in hotels so I know there are always ways staff can make it up to you - free breakfast, bottles of wine, discounts on future stays etc. Nothing was done

Cons: On our check-out day, our bag with camera, wallet, passport, cash, cards inside, was taken by thief at the lobby. Surprisingly it was difficult to ask the security to check CCTV. He only wanted to check one spot that we said where our bag probably was before missing, and rejected to check other CCTV.. The security tend to blame us by saying our belonging is our responsibility. Yes, we know, but it happened in their lobby, so at least show emphaty and full support for any chance to find it. There were not many people in the lobby at that time. Fortunately I got photos taken around the time the incident happened, showing where our bag was, then when it was gone. We even had the photo of the thief. Based on that photos, the security were willing to check CCTV. After checking, he said "you are right. This guy took your bag". Out of our confusion for losing the important stuff, we asked what we should do. The doorman whom we often saw him around the lobby and actively talked and greeted everybody, suggested us..."you can report it to the police, it is not far from here...". With big smile.

Cons: Not really -- I had a great experience. You might want to take Uber from the train station if you have a lot of heavy luggage to transport. I walked the .5 miles from the station in 15 minutes with my carry-on luggage no problem.

Cons: Room No. 126 was very small & hot, no room to move between end of bed and wardrobe. Both my wife and I had three awful nights sleep due to awful fat square pillows that absorbed heat very quickly. They gave us cricked necks and we even tried sleeping without them, no alternative available at hotel, we even considered buying pillows for last night to get some sleep. Hotel room was in a narrow ally way, private accommodation dead opposite with men hanging out of the window smoking, we could listen to their conversation and t.v every night, no privacy unless you closed windows and curtains.

Cons: Given coffee and tea with a kettle but no milk. The man on reception did not explain properly why I had to pay again upon arrival just simply told me “cancelled payment”. This then meant I spent the first hour of our holiday in contact with booking.com trying to find the answers. Once they got in touch with the hotel, they explained the reason. I felt the man was slightly rude and could not be bothered to explain properly to me what had happened. Other than that, great stay.

The spa was nice and the staff was extremely helpful. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day and they were very good rides, better than our bikes at home! The mini bar is stocked daily and is FREE! Cons: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it's an old building so I don't think it is an "infestation" but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.

Cons: We arrive at the hotel after paying for a twin room to only be told there was no rooms available as it was fully booked and two 21year old males had to share a double bed. The room was unclean with a broken shower head. Hotel staff were unorganised; I put a deposit down on a plug converter which I was then told there’s nothing to show I’ve left a deposit. The manager doesn’t work weekends and nothing can be resolved without a manger which isn’t good for a weekend party. Yet to hear back from the email I sent.

Cons: Room wasnt very clean, crack in the sink tap wasnt working properly, coffee machine dirty water in tank and tea and coffee weren't replenished

Pros: I must say the location was unbeatable for me. Very close to the Central train station and the bars around.
Cons: The staff was not much friendly. I woke up afternoon due to jetlagging. The housekeeping had left already to clean up the room and change the towels. They couldn't give me extra towel. Indicating "the towel is limited". The room was so small and the bed was small and not comfortable. I wouldn't stay there again!

Advertised as non smoking when in fact there was nonstop ( weed) smoking. Throat is still burnt out from it.

Pros: The location of the hotel was central to the main tourist areas of Amsterdam.
Cons: The room was not very updated and located at the very bottom of the hotel. No elevator to go down and had to go down a few sets of stairs.

Pros: excellent location, friendly staff and value for money, however I booked a single room with a bath which was very very small indeed

Cons: They took 2 days to move us into a normal room. The first room they gave us was TERRIBLE. There were no towels, no TV remote control, and the telephone wasn’t working. The toilet was NASTY, I found hair everywhere. When I had to go to the reception in order to sort everything out, the only thing I could find was a middle aged receptionist who got annoyed about it. THE SAME NIGHT WE HAD TO CALL THE RECEPTION AGAIN (AT 2 AM) BECAUSE THE BEDSHEETS WERE DIRTY AND STAINED. These things were not the only ones that I had to complain about, since we had a water loss from the window that we couldn’t even open because it was fake. I would recommend this hotel just for the position, which is really good. But I’d also say be extra careful with your personal belongings, since the cleaning staff is QUITE DODGY and I GOT MY FUR STOLEN!!! I’ve been talking to the owner as well, and everything she could do was just implying that I forgot my fur into a Coffeeshop... THIS HOTEL WAS RUBBISH!!!!!
