Cons: Keys stopped working every day and it takes a very long time to get from the room tothe front desk to get new ones. I also was unable to make my first night due to a change in our flight that was beyond my control and although I called more than 24 hours before arrival they would not refund my first night stay. I would not suggest pre paying. I have worked in hotels so I know there are always ways staff can make it up to you - free breakfast, bottles of wine, discounts on future stays etc. Nothing was done

Pros: The location is very central making it easy to get anywhere. breakfast is in a gorgeous winter garden-type room and the selection is very diverse. Staff were always helpful and accomodating.
Cons: I was on the first floor and there didn't seem to be a staircase that I could take to go one flight of stairs. It was annoying always having to wait for the elevator (which was insanely crowded) for such a tiny distance. Also, no gym which I expect in a hotel of this size and class.

Pros: Bar and eating area were cool to hang and chill. The beds were a bit firm but I did not mind. Right in the city center, NH Collection Amsterdam Flower Market, formerly known as NH Carlton Amsterdam, is within a short walk to Amsterdam’s main attractions. It overlooks the famous floating Flower Market and is steps away from the Kalverstraat shopping area. You will find Rembrandt Square and other major sites within walking distance as well. Take the tram at Rembrandtplein or Rokin to Amsterdam Centraal train station, giving you easy access to the rest of the city. NH Collection Amsterdam Flower Market is set in a traditional Amsterdam building, originally constructed in 1926 for the Olympic Games. The rooms at the hotel are spacious and finished with traditional décor. Each one is soundproof and features new mattresses and hairdryers, satellite TVs and free Wi-Fi. Rooms on the top 3 floors have balconies and overlook the lively Munt Square and Munttoren (Mint Tower). Some connecting rooms are available. A freshly prepared breakfast spread is served daily, including fresh juices and coffees, and Ter Marsch & Co Amsterdam on the ground floor serve burgers daily from 11.00 am. There's also a gym onsite to help you stay in shape.

Pros: Overall we had a pleasant stay, due to short notice travel we paid $250 per night whic is way too much for this hotel. The location was very convenient, walk to most tourists attractions and a tourist restaurants. The bedding was clean. Due to the urin smell in the bathroom the hotel gave us breakfast vouchers.
Cons: This hotel is rated at 4, it is 3 star at best. The interior itself is dated, you can tell they have tried improving it by panting and cleaning the carpets. It is obvious a remodel is in order to bring it up to 4 star standard. I believe most European hotel turn off the ability to run the AC in the winter. With the windows closed the room became rather stuffy, we slept with the window open on the 6th floor with ear plugs in since the partying went on till 4am. The toilet had a constant urin smell even after having the maid clean with bleach and leaving us an air freshener. Maintenance replaced the sink trap but still smelled. My wife called the front desk for a simple question and front desk clerk by the name of Alessio(male with a beard) was rude and condescending.

Pros: Good location. Our room had a kitchenette, which was basically just a fridge and some storage cabinets, and a stove top. (but no cookware).
Cons: Our room overlooked the lobby, hotel bar, and restaurant, so we heard everything that happened in the lobby. Hotel claims to have AC but it had been turned off for the year, even though it was unseasonably warm when we were there in October. We can live without AC but the windows don't open. Staff weren't wiling/able to move us to a different room when we asked. Wouldn't stay again, and wouldn't recommend.

Cons: 1. Heating was a major problem. 2. Parking is a nightmare. 3. Shower hot water not as hot as it should be. 4. Complimentary coffee in the lobby area is absent, though one can pay EUR 2-2.50 for a cup. Should be gratis. Once this is attended to, this will be able to achieve deserved greatness.

Pros: I spent two nights at the NH Barbizon and I only have positive things to say. It was a group of 5 friends and we couldnt be happier with our stay. The hotel in itself is beautifully decorated. The location is excellent across from Amsterdam Central and all the trolleys, but the best part of the hotel was the staff. Overall great experience, and upon my return to Amsterdam I will definitely stay here and hope to get assistance from Daniel!

Pros: Other than the location, this place really was just so-so. Most Marriott Courtyards are cleaner, more comfortable, and have much better service. For the price, however, it wasn't a bad deal and proximity to both Amsterdam Centraal and many tourist attractions made up for the lack of aesthetic appeal and customer service.
Cons: Breakfast was not included and would be an addition $30/person. At that price, it should include a packed bong and tickets to the Van Gogh museum. Rooms were terribly outdated and not in a quaint Dutch way, but in an oddly 80's post-apocalyptic manner that made me question why I wasn't staying at a hostel. Our shower didn't even have a door or a curtain. 5 stars!? Are you kidding me? Europe must max out on a 10 star scale.

Pros: The location was very convenient and accessible and the staff was very accommodating. Our room was not ready when we arrived nor was it ready when they told us to return. The management responded with an upgrade at a reasonable rate and free drinks at the bar. The rest of the staff was also great. We enjoyed a bottle of wine in our room & the bartender opened our bottle without corkage fees, gave us crystal glasses to drink out of & even gave us some snacks to enjoy, all on the house! Overall a very great experience; we would consider staying there again!
Cons: The front desk and housekeeping seemed understaffed. There always seemed to be a very long line to check in/out & ask questions. Rooms were not ready when promised although it ended up working in our favor as we received an upgrade & free drinks at the bar.

Cons: Unfortunately the hotel is next door to a city music facility and there were extremely loud pounding rave concerts from 9 pm until 6 am the next day. Despite being 15 floors above, the super loud base beat still penetrated the room until 6 am. Nothing the hotel could do but would advise avoiding Friday and Saturday nights if possible. Pros: This was my first trip there, and I loved the Generator almost the most. It had a great atmosphere, and everyone I encountered there was very nice. The cafe is fantastic, and a great place to hang out if you have work to do.
Cons: The rooms WERE a bit small, but for the average traveler/backpacker they are totally sufficient. I happened to have quite a bit of luggage with me (it's what happens when I'm traveling for business), and I felt like a total inconvenience to my roommates (even though they swore I was fine). My ONLY complaint with the experience at Generator is that the shower drain was quite clogged, and the shower stall would be filled with water by the second minute.
Grand Hotel Amrth Amsterdam is located in the former Shippinghouse, a decorated monument and example of the Amsterdam School architecture. The 5-star deluxe hotel has 205 rooms in Art Deco style with high ceilings and large windows that allow plenty of natural light, including 22 suites, 8 conference/banquet rooms, a restaurant, a bar/lounge, and a Spa & Wellness centre. At only 500 meters from the Central Station, where you will find bus, tram and metro connections to all areas of the city. The distance from Schiphol airport is only 15 minutes by train.

Pros: The building itself was lovely, very gothic with a cozy feel. The breakfast was excellent, make sure you get it included in your original price. The spa was nice and the staff was extremely helpful. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day and they were very good rides, better than our bikes at home! The mini bar is stocked daily and is FREE! We kept drinking our mini wines in the double bath tub every night. Great location, across the canal from central station. A great choice for our honeymoon stay.
Cons: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it's an old building so I don't think it is an "infestation" but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.

Pros: Great location, friendly staff
Cons: The room was incredibly stuffy as there was no A/C. We couldn't open the windows at night because the building construction next door started promptly at 7 am and the noise was unbearable with the windows open. Would never had booked here if I knew I would get about 2 hrs of sleep per night. The price was decent but now I know why!

Pros: The Hotel Amrath is a jewel among luxury hotels--beautiful architecture inside and out; clean, spacious comfortable rooms; great accommodating staff; and centrally located so one can walk everywhere. Don't miss the gorgeous pool and spa.

Pros: The building is an antique that seems to recently been rejuvenated. It's important to keep this in mind when coming here, because the place is not a modern hotel, and so some modern things may be missing. For example, the elevators could be quite awkward and I cannot imagine how the floors are handicap accessible. That said, the bathrooms were brand new and quite nice. And finally, they throw in a full, FREE mini-bar.
Cons: It's a bit expensive, and going up and down stairs can be annoying with luggage.

Pros: The hotel is in a great location by Amsterdam Centraal. It is easy to get to and a great place to explore the city from.
Cons: The maid service was sub standard for a $300+/night hotel. The bed was made but other items were never straightened.

Pros: nothing
Cons: Had booking confirmation in-hand. Manager asked a ton of questions, asked me to email her the confirmation, wasted a half hour till she finally told me the reservation cannot be honored because their reservation system was already closed, meaning they overbooked and refused my reservation after I already showed up at the hotel. They wasted my time. They were rude. They tried to blame me even though all i did was book online. They provided no assistance in getting a different room in the city. Awful experience. BE CAREFULL ON BUSY NIGHTS, THEY OVERBOOK.

Pros: Bed, pillows, and room was very comfortable. The breakfast spread is large with many options.
Cons: We ordered some eggs Benedict with the breakfast buffet, they were not good. Good eggs on toast, but instead of ham there was a bitter cooked spinach mix and the sauce had no flavor.
"Located in Amsterdam City Centre, this hostel is within a 5-minute walk of Body Worlds, Dam Square and Madame Tussauds. Royal Palace and Amsterdam Museum are also within 10 minutes. Dam Stop is only a 4-minute walk and Nieuwmarkt Station is 6 minutes. "

Central station (Thalys, Eurostar, streetcars, metro) is within walking distance and so are all the sights in the nearby historic downtown (Redlight District, Anne Frank House, Palace on Dam Square). Guests rate our location right in bustling downtown 9.4/10. On a business trip? RAI Convention Centre, Amsterdam Arena and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol are only 15 minutes away by train.
