Pros: Bar and eating area were cool to hang and chill. The beds were a bit firm but I did not mind. Having to keep riding the ferry was a bit much but if you factor that into your commute you should be good. Currently there is a ton of construction on all sides which hindered me finding it the first time but once I found the bridge I was good.

Pros: Cool concept. Great staff. I was lucky amd there were only 2 people in your compartment of 6 beds.
The 6 person compartment was bigger than modern sleeper cars. Each side had the 3 sleeping car style beds against the wall like normal. However there was enough room in between the 2 small sinks and a folding partition separating the 2 sides.
Since there were only 2 of us, we closed the partition and had a side to ourselves, complete with a personal sink and the unused beds were great places to put the luggage.

Top tips for finding the perfect Amsterdam hostel
- There are plenty of hostels in Amsterdam to suit the needs of most travelers. Consider the Flying Pig Beach Hostel, located at Noordvijk Beach; the Flying Pig Downtown near Amsterdam Central Station; and the Flying Pig Uptown in the cultural heart of the city. All three offer mixed dormitories, private rooms, secured lockers, and a lively social scene. Alternatively, Shelter City is an alcohol-free establishment with two locations: Shelter Jordan near the Anne Frank House, and Shelter City, close to the New Market.
- Couples can marvel at the novelty of Amsterdam Hotelboat, which is near the Central Train Station. But with limited rooms and high demand, this can be a pricey option, though certainly worth a look. The Amsterdam Hotelboat serves breakfast amid awesome views, and there is a bike rental place nearby, ideal for exploring the sights on land. Another good option for couples is Cocomama, located within walking distance of Heineken Experience in the downtown area and complete with a private garden and kitchen, if you wish to prepare your own meals. St. Christopher at the Winston is also recommended.
- For those who wish to make the most of a tight budget, Stayokay Amsterdam Vondelpark is a hostel in Amsterdam that is a highly rated option in the heart of the city. It is located within easy reach of the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum, a perfect setting if you are traveling with a few friends. Options include same-sex or mixed rooms with private bathrooms, lockers to safeguard your valuables, and an onsite laundromat to take care of your limited wardrobe. There, you can enjoy happy hour at the bar, or head down to Leidseplein Square, where a vibrant nightlife awaits.
- At Train Lodge Amsterdam, converted cars provide sleeping accommodations for guests, complete with a terrace and a bistro car for dining. It’s located near Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station in the city center. This hostel even offers a car with over 30 beds for large groups (school trips, reunions) who prefer the convenience of bunking together. Another creative hostel in Amsterdam is Clinknoord, a former laboratory close to the IJ River that still has many of the original structural features. The Clinknoord offers an onsite laundry room, fully equipped kitchen, and 24h reception.
