Cons: The hotel is a good distance from the city center. I think I remember reading ~ a 30 minute walk but it was more like ~50 minutes. Using public transportation, Ubers or taxis is a must.

Pros: Upon Check-in, we worked with Taco - he upgraded our room and was absolutely pleasant. We also valeted our car and the valet and luggage support staff were so friendly and positive - very nice reception after we had a long travel day! At breakfast we chatted with Daphne in Guest Services about wanting to have a chill day on Sunday. Upon returning to our room in the evening we had a special relaxation set of eye mask, pillow spray and herbal tea. The care and attention to guests is amazing considering the high volume of customers this hotel receives. The facilities are always immaculate!

Cons: Using credit and debit card to unlawfully take money from accounts and even after complaints and refunds they are still doing this. They have used a card not provided to them but through booking.com Advice to other be very very careful with providing this hotel with your credit and debit card details

Cons: Too noisy. The bar downstairs opens to 2 am and people inside are very very very noisy, which means you will not be able to sleep before 2 am next day. And it is no use to complain to the hotel.

Cons: The hotel is a little on the old side. The internet is quite slow, especially at nights. We had to walk quite far to get to the lift which took us to our rooms, it was a bit far & odd.

Cons: Keys stopped working every day and it takes a very long time to get from the room tothe front desk to get new ones. I also was unable to make my first night due to a change in our flight that was beyond my control and although I called more than 24 hours before arrival they would not refund my first night stay. I would not suggest pre paying. I have worked in hotels so I know there are always ways staff can make it up to you - free breakfast, bottles of wine, discounts on future stays etc. Nothing was done

Cons: The room was too cold and the thermostat did not allow you to increase the temperature. Other hotel guests I met during my visit also complained about how cold the rooms were. Also for the room rate there should be a mini fridge facility in each room.

Pros: The concierge team, especially Daniel, was extremely helpful. Daniel was able to secure Anne Frank Huis tix for me the day of. This hotel is right next to the Basilica so it was super easy getting to Mass or to stop in and pray for a bit. Plus this location is very convenient for airport access and touring around Amsterdam. LOVE the shower, heated towel rack and I had a quiet room. It could be a noisy neighborhood, but my room was lovely. Breakfast was great and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Cons: Well, I don’t know whether to blame the hotel for it or my luck :) I was upgraded in to a really nice room which was so nice and spacious. As the guest of the day, I was offered wine as well. But unfortunately I found that room too dark (the lighting was poor). Then they stated that the hotel was full so they moved me in to another room (which I reckon was like a serviced apartment). This apartment was great in terms of facilities, the pillows were the best I’ve seen! However, this room was located in another building (this hotel has 3 wings/buildings) and it was always confusing to get there (I stayed there only for a night so was not really fun figuring out how to go from reception/outside/restaurant to my room). Although I found the hotel nice overall, I don’t think I would stay there again because of the location (nothing against the hotel - in fact I would love to stay in other Pestana hotels and this hotel was lovely too). However, it is just too far from city center (now of course one can Uber 10-12 euros or use the public transport) but it’s an easy 35 min walk to the center and 15 min walk from the nearest train station (Amsterdam Amstel).

There was a mini fridge in the room but it was secured as it contained minibar items.I didn't open it for fear I'd be charged for items. Furthermore, I wasn't sure there was any space inside for non-minibar items. I also never received a facecloth during my stay.

Set in a traditional Art Deco building dating back to the 1950s, NH City Centre Amsterdam is close to all of the main attractions in Amsterdam. Walk to Singel canal, Dam Square, the Royal Palace, the Flower Market and the Anne Frank house. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants near the hotel as well. Central Station is only 3 tram stops away and you can reach it from Spui station. For direct access to the airport, there is a shuttle bus. The 213 rooms at NH City Centre Amsterdam were recently renovated in 2016 and enjoy a fresh and contemporary décor. Many have canal views or features such as split floors and high ceilings. For your comfort, rooms are have large comfy beds and flat-screen TVs and come equipped with free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning. Guests have access to a gym and free Wi-Fi. Cons: The Whirlpool is automatically launching a cleaning program after usage which according to the explanation sheet will make a „lite sound“. This lite sound is actually super loud and we were shocked every time when that cleaning program started and we were very afraid other hotel guests might be disturbed by it (the whole room vibrated and we could hear our own voices) The view from our room was just against the rear side of other houses and in general the rooms design was not super special. With these two things improved relaxing in the pool or saune would have been a lot better. The Sauna is also easy to use however it is really small. Using it with two people is very tight and if you want to bring the water bucket into the sauna together with two people its almost impossible. Furthermore the temperature in the Sauna is only achieved at higher levels. On the ground and on our feet it was relatively cold, also the door of the sauna was not really closing completely and the door knob is lose. On the last morning at around 9 room cleaning service entered our room while we were still sleeping (even though we had a „Do not disturb“ sign on our door!!!).

The spa was nice and the staff was extremely helpful. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day and they were very good rides, better than our bikes at home! The mini bar is stocked daily and is FREE! We kept drinking our mini wines in the double bath tub every night. Great location, across the canal from central station. A great choice for our honeymoon stay.

Cons: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it's an old building so I don't think it is an "infestation" but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.

The pillows were dirty and when we lifted the linnen it was covered with hairs of different previous guests. We did get new covers for the pillows to clean ourselves. The towels were smelling so bad like cigarettes that I thought we were in a smoking room. I guess the staff smoked in the same place as they store the linnen. Then the airco in room made a lot of noise, which they fixed the next day. Guy at the reception was super unfriendly. The girls were nice. Altogether ok stay because of the location but def not coming back

Cons: The hotel is more of a hostel. Not sure I would recommend for families. We had a ground floor room which afforded little privacy as the pedestrians outside could look right in. The laundry room across from our room had a leak and the water came into our room. This happened in the early hours of the night and kind of ruined half of our two days in Amsterdam. Staff were so-so.

The cost was really high and it would have been much cheaper to get a tram from a hotel outside of Amsterdam in and out of the city and this would have been much cheaper. I paid for the hotel and tax in 2019. When I arrived in Amsterdam on January 1st 2020 I had to pay for the city tax twice! It was never mentioned and I wasn’t happy about this. There was power cuts during the week and the hotel guests got nothing In compensation for this. The dining room was really expensive and It cost €6.50 for a pint of Heineken!!

Cons: on arrival no obvious reception check in found a member of staff who basically shooed us away as was with another guest. eventually checked in but only 1 lift was working to our floor the whole stay. On arriving back to our room to collect our luggage which was before 12 we discovered our cards no longer worked and had been stopped so we couldnt get in room to collect luggage.
