Cons: "The flight was delayed 24hrs which is not the fault of Korean airlines however Boarding was so disorgainsed with no information on the process, almost no priority boarding. We were told that people with boarding passes of the original flight date had to wait for more recent passes. This led many to think that they would be kicked off the flight after waiting 24hrs. Once we did finally board we found that they had made a mistake and had to deboard a passenger resulting in an extra hour delay"

Connecting flight was delayed by four hours and crew was not sure Did not inform when the flight will leave. Passengers from another delayed flight gathered around our gate and blocked us from entering boarding our plane. They were demanding that our flight should be canceled and didn’t let us board. Security was present they were taking notes but never intervened. This is the first time I have experience this type of chaos on an airport but from the signs posted, it appears that it may be normal situation and this airport. Didn’t expect I will have to push through a mob to board the air plane."

I missed my flight from seoul to saigon because there was two flights with similar time, one with korea and the other with vietnam air, both with similar time but both are with different concourses , then , the ticket did not indicate the gate number , then the airport information operator directed me to the wrong gate resulting in missing my flight to saigon and being subject to penalties which all are not my mistakes. Please fix your system"

"You can't check in now because it's a US flight, so it's only 24 hours". "You can't check in now because of visa documents something you have to check in at the airport". None of this was written down, or even satisfactorily explained when I tried to understand what was going on. Next time I'll fly Asiana on the hope they have a better online seat selection system that doesn't involve bizarre US checkin policy."

To top it all off, the airline worker at check in forced my companion to pay $150 to gate check her guitar (which has always counted as carry on thru other airlines), and then at the gate she was told she couldn't check it and that she was to bring it on the plane as we originally intended. We noticed she was the only person given any trouble and the only black person.....all in all, a terrible experience."

Cons: "Service can be very erratic. On both long-haul CSA flights I took, attendants spoke poor English, which was surprising given the route. This is a perfectly OK airline for the price. You get what you pay for, in a way. But if anything drifts from the original plan, you're screwed. On Thurs Jan 4 we were diverted to Chicago due to bad weather. CSA has ZERO ground presence at Ohare. They gave us poorly-worded, vague instructions while still on board the aircraft for how to proceed once we disembarked-- and then their crew went off to hotels and rested, while most of the passengers stood stranded and confused in the airport terminal with NO assistance whatsoever. We were NEVER formally told when to reboard, or when our flight might take off again for JFK. We were NEVER told what kind of arrangements would be available for passengers to rest and recover-- and we landed around midnight, mind you. Passengers shared info with one another that they gleaned from 3rd party websites-- we all helped each other out, because CSA was useless. I recognize that it was an unusual situation due to extreme weather but it was indicative of the kind of customer service one can expect. Which is, not much."

Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for near-freezing conditions. 2. Loss of baggage, CAN to MNL, flight CZ3091, 1/1/18: The luggage which had our clothes was delayed. Worse, the over-ground delivery of said luggage took too long: one third of our stay in the Philippines. I knew we'd wear the same clothes for almost 24 hours straight, didn't expect to do so for three additional days."

Pros: "First, crew and service were wonderful. Business class food was very good. BUT on the SF/Guangzhou route, both ways, business class seat 14K did not work! These are 14 and 12 hour overnight flights and seat wouldn't even recline, forget laying flat! On the outbound flight I didn't realize until we took off. The crew tried to fix it and couldn't but gave me one of the crew seats in the back of business class. Not great to be separated from my husband for most of the flight, but I could sleep and was otherwise comfortable. Returning Guangzhou to SF, had the same seat. Checked it as soon as I boarded and it didn't work, again! This time they got ground crew to fix it before take off. It worked most of the flight, but once I put it up after laying flat for 8 hours, it stopped working. Would not move from a straight upright position. Ridiculous! SO check to make sure your seats work before you take off!!"

China Southern representatives were a little more helpful and organized about directing passengers from flight coming into Wuhan to flight going out to San Francisco in the right direction and through departing immigration. It went smoothly and felt as if they were better prepared to continue "us" on our journey to San Francisco. We even got green stickers with "SFO" showing we were part of the group and a new boarding pass with the right gate number. When asking for a glass of wine, they poured what they had and came back with more. It was a newer plane with entertainment systems. Headphones were provided, if needed."

When looking out the window, the airport taxis and runways looked desolate. If my flight from San Francisco to home (Seattle) hadn't be delayed, I possibly would have missed my last flight home. Mobile devices that can be used as a cell phone are not allowed to be on or used while on board the flight. This includes mobile phones in flight mode (China Southern explained to me that this is Chinese law), so you are forced to use their entertainment system and not be able to listen to your own music."

I had to move to the one with a long queue to handle those standby customers. This is my worst experience ever. The service of China Southern airline is becoming worse and worse.
