The lamb curry is sublime. I would have it every day to be honest. I was also lucky that I had passengers who sat next to me, who were kind and lovely."
Cons: "Only the take off from the flight. It made me dizzy and nautious."
Pros: "The crew, the food, overall experience was great!"

Cons: "More leg room"
Pros: "The crew member in my section was amazing, he went out of his way to greet each and everyone of us individually. The flight was comfortable, boarding a breeze and on time!"
Pros: "The seats are comfortable. I was fortunate to have a gap in the middle seat. On my flight there was a delay due to a person needing to disembark before the flight took off. The flight dealt with the person inconsiderately and explained to everyone the reason for the delay."
Cons: "Nothing. The flight was efficiently run and seats comfortable."
Cons: "The boarding was inconvenient. LAX has just been updated. Gerri g a bus out to the tarmac is something I expect in Africa. Can Air NZ move to a different terminal?"
Cons: "I was not able to travel. When I reached the airport, I was told that I needed a transit visa for my 1.5 hr stopover in Auckland."
Pros: "Amazing crew. Airline was awesome .. seem less"
Pros: "Generally Excellent."
Cons: "After years of traveling with a Personal Assitive device (many times on ANZ), the pilot refused to carry the device. It is still stuck in Sydney, although they say they will deliver to our home."
Pros: "Our stewardess was very helpful for our tight connection. She helped with instructions on finding our next gate and gave specific information on making the airport easier to maneuver."
Cons: "On time fights would have made our day better and less stressful."
Pros: "Very spacious seats and good entertainment system. Two meals provided. Good blankets provided with pillows. Spacious and clean bathroom."
Cons: "My usb charging plug didn’t work and I wish they sent me an email in advance or told me upon check in what the requirements were that I would have to show upon boarding. I was not prepared to show them my follow on flight schedule (leaving NZ) but I would have been prepared if I had known in advance"
Pros: "The sky couch is always very nice."
Cons: "We told the crew the water tasted funny, like dirt, they said it was fine, just had lemon in it. Pretty sure we know the difference between lemon and dirt taste."
Pros: "Great pitch"
Cons: "All good: 777:300"
Pros: "trivia was fun"
Pros: "Fast transit connections in Auckland, Good times for departure/arrival"
Cons: "When I booked I chose seats, then the aircraft changed and I ended up with the family split. It would have been nice if they had at least sent an email giving me a chance to select new seats"
Pros: "Entertainment was great, food was great, and the overall flight experience was better than the first time travelling this airline. Airhosts/esses we’re very polite as well. Would try it again soon!"
Cons: "Airhosts/esses took a long time to pick up our trays after our meal."
Pros: "Entertainment was great and even leg room was decent for economy seating"
Cons: "There are no personal air vents. I was sweating for 3/4 of the flight and had to ask for the air to be turned down 3 times. The air vents they do have point inwards and do not get the window seats at all. Hope the return flight is better"
Pros: "Reliable service. Flew Air NZ twice without any hiccups. Boards on time, leaves on time. Get a biscuit (cookie), drink, and sweet. Had room on both flights also. Not packed to the gills and enjoyed the aerial view of the lovely NZ countryside."
Cons: "Nothing... didn’t give 5 star due to no monitor/tv for entertainment but with such a short flight it really isn’t necessary."
Pros: "Cabin crew was fantastic! Inflight experience was woderful."
Cons: "Airport personnel were very unhelpful. When I asked them a question, they told me to come back later. I came back at the time they said to and they told me they don’t have time for me. I need to come back another time. I went to another gate agent and she told be to go downstairs to the check in counter for help. That would have taken 2 hours. I called customer service and they answered my question quickly. I just wanted to know if I would be charged a fee to change my flight."
Pros: "The crew were very pleasant and the meal was delicious. The flight was really smooth and most comfortable. Not quite the same leg room as the e dreamer."
Pros: "the fare is so cheap ,service is excellent"
Cons: "All the staff were in the lounge meaning paid users were turned away. Upgrade denied by staff working in lounge because all staff had been allocated the business class seats. Staff should be bumped for paying airpoints members."
Pros: "a) My vegetarian meal the I specially requested. b) The customer service on the phone, before my trip in California and the customer service of the flight attendants on the two flights of my trip. c) The blanket and pillow every passenger was offered on the long-haul flight from San Francisco to Auckland. d) The pilot or pilots handled the small amount turbulence we on the plane felt well so I did not feel uneasy at those times."
Cons: "For an economy class series of trips, I have nothing bad to report."
Cons: "I double booked the flight on Nov 27 to Sydney from Queenstown through Kayak while I had another flight booked on the same date to Christchurch from Auckland for the same 2 people and Kayak did not warn me that I had already booked the flight on the 27th. It was my fault but I would appreciate if Kayak warned me. Otherwise all is good. Thanks"
Cons: "Air New Zealand needs to manage double door boarding a little differently - a ticket checker needs to be at the split point - to streams of passengers trying to find their seat in opposite directions just doesn't work."
Cons: "The staff asked for my return ticket to the U.S. I told them I have a round trip ticket from and to Japan. I have to show them my U. S. Navy identification card otherwise Air New Zealand would not have processed my boarding pass ticket. Air New Zealand discriminates."
Pros: "Air NZ are great. Kayak are not,"
Cons: "I couldn’t tell about the food and entertainment because even after several call to Kayak trying to upgrade to a flight where food and entertainment were included because it said “no meal service” on my itinerary I was assured they were included and what do you know. They weren’t. I will never be using Kayak again. Very poor serve from people I phoned. They did no know what they were doing."
Pros: "As has been my prior experience with Air New Zealand, I found the trip to be virtually flawless. The boarding process was smooth and efficient, the crew was great and seemed to genuinely enjoy their job, the food was good, and I had lots of choices on the IFE system. For flying cattle class on a 15 hour flight, I arrived reasonably rested and content."
Cons: "My only complaint is that the extra $60 I had to pay in order to get a window seat got me just that. There was no additional room either length- or width-wise and no other advantages other than the window. I would not pay for that "privilege" again and I'm sorry to see that ANZ has stooped to the level of its American counterparts."
Pros: "Crew working hard and going the extra mile to alleviate systemic issues like overcrowding in economy, glitches with electronics, etc. They're resolutely cheerful and efficient."
Cons: "Air NZ are, like everyone else, packing more people in a plane: 10 across in economy, where it used to be 8. No upgrade option I could exercise, even though I've got plenty of miles and do this trip every 6 months, because of the fare class I booked through Kayak."
Pros: "Crew and entertainment good"
Cons: "More leg room"
Pros: "Everything, felt safe"
Pros: "Crew was professional and very friendly, food was excellent, entertainment choices were fantastic. The seats were even comfortable and we were in coach!"
Cons: "Nothing, everything exceeded expectations."
Pros: "I was recovering from a cold and didn't anticipate having ear problems but during decent I began to experience some pain. It was all new to me as I had never been through this before. Fortunately the crew was kind and they provided a sinus decongestant in a cup for me to sniff and breath in so the smell could open up my nasal passages and it helped a bit."
Cons: "The sharp decent while arriving."
Pros: "The business class on Air New Zealand is the space and comfort level all airlines should have in all classes of seating. I could comfortably fly to Europe from California in business class on this airline."
Pros: "Flight had gluten free meals. Crew was professional"
Cons: "45 minutes late so missed connecting flight. While anz booked me on the next flight, international flights shouldn't be that late"
Pros: "I had read quite a bit of negatively but although I have had better service and more comfort it was better than I had herd it would be. The in seat entertainment system was better than any I had experienced."
Cons: "For the most part the crew was very nice. But the attendant we had lacked some professionalism and seemed very tired. We didn't always get what we asked for as well with no explanation why."
Cons: "Fixed arm rests in the bassinet row. We had extra seats which was a lovely surprise but it was not much help as the arm rests don't move. Won't pay for that row again as my bub was just a bit too heavy for the bassinet."
Cons: "Using a 777 meant longer check in time and was much longer arrival time and baggage collection. Meant I was stuck in Auckland traffic because of the extra time"
Pros: "Everything good"
Cons: "coming back to work"
Pros: "Significantly more leg room than other competitors! Even with the person's chair reclined in front of me, I was still able to be comfortable. The staff were excellent, the food was as good as can be (given that it is airline food), the choices for entertainment were great. Lots of overhead storage!"
Cons: "Some of the screens need to be refurbished. The person in the seat behind me had to jab at their screen to make it work (or perhaps they were too lazy to be conscientious?). Mine worked fine but I had to be very cognizant to leave my finger on the screen rather than poke."
Pros: "Staff was friendly"
Cons: "Very tight small space, food not great quality. Also a lot of plastic used, hope there is a recycling program in place or strives to reduce the waste for the food."
Pros: "The best service I've ever had with seamless rebooking and escorted followthrough to make my return flight. Even my luggage made it throughout the short interval layovers!"
Pros: "Great crew and seats were very comfortable"
Cons: "The person sitting next to me was extra nervous which was a little un nerving"
Pros: "On check in we were offered the extra legroom right at the front, with just the two of us on the row!"
Cons: "tv entertainment,i wish i had realised that there was no TV for the children. ."
Pros: "It was OK"
Cons: "It would of been nice to know why we were delayed."
Cons: "If the boarding time had remained unchanged and there was more legroom"
Cons: "Flight from Napier to Auckland was delayed"
Pros: "On time if not ahead of time"
Pros: "The price was OK"
Cons: "The flight (scheduled for 80 minutes) was almost 6 HOURS LATE!!! The information we received whilst waiting was inconsistent. Very frustrating."
Cons: "We were shocked to be charged $275 for two checked bags. At the point that you are checking in you are trapped and don't have a choice but to pay it. We were told that if we had paid in advance it would be cheaper, but we didn't know what the weight of our bags would be so I just figured I'd pay at the airport. They didn't say that they charge so much more at the airport - which is a total rip off. We were also harassed by not having the email that showed we purchased an Australian Visa which is digitally tied to our passport. If they need to verify our Visa, then they should have the electronic means to verify it. Also, we were traveling from Sydney to Auckland so since we were leaving the country I'm not sure why they had to see our Australian Visa in the first place. We were already in the country!"
Pros: "Quick boarding, friendly staff"
Cons: "No TVs very basic."
Pros: "Everything went smoothly as scheduled."
Cons: "The waiting"
Cons: "Not enough to room in seats for a flight this long"
Pros: "Crew were patient & helpful"
Cons: "The fact that both my recent Jetstar flights have been delayed (to & from Rarotonga, and today’s flight was so late I missed my connecting flight & it meant a disadvantage to my family plus $221 extra for me to buy another ticket."
Pros: "The pilot made such a smooth landing, it was one of the best I’ve experienced."
Cons: "Probably just the delay and time management for boarding"
Pros: "Early departure, smooth operation, efficient service"
Cons: "Seats a bit close for Clive’s 6 foot frame"
Pros: "Most of the staff were supportive and caring and made me feel like nothing was too much to ask. The flight was on time."
Cons: "It was a flight we've done heaps before. It would be nice to have all luggage actually transferred through from Napier to Manchester as it's an added challenge when also carting babies around."
Pros: "No mess airline, fast and efficient"
Pros: "Arrangement when flight was cancelled."
Cons: "Cancel the flight without letting me know"
Cons: "The assisted mobility did not work at all well, Perth it didn’t turn up, no help on or off the plane, Melbourne only took you as far as the eating area, with a lot further to go to the luggage reclaim, no one to help me with my luggage!"
Cons: "Appalling service got a text about 20 hours before departure cancelling the flight. Alternatives totally unsuitable. 1am or 5 am when I had a daytime flight"
Cons: "1 hour delay on take off"
Cons: "Close seating. 45 minute delay to take off. sitting in cramped airplane on runway."
Cons: "The floor next to my seat looked like someone had emptied their chip packet on it. The plane was late arriving but surely there’s time to vacuum up the mess!"
Pros: "Getting off at the other end (eventually)"
Cons: "Where do we start....didn't realise you have to pay extra for a bag when traveling overseas so spent just on $300 before even getting the boarding pass. One hour late leaving Perth, no apology or explanation provided. They wouldn't take exact money for a Solo, only credit card. Knees planted uncomfortably in the seat in front for the entire trip. Didn't hand out immigration cards claiming they'd run out.."
Pros: "Great boarding process. Happy/smiling staff. Great experience overall."
Cons: "No onboard entertaibment but it is a budget airline on a short haul flight so...."
Pros: "The crew were friendly enough and were accommodating in handling my baggage"
Cons: "The plane was an older model airbus configured to maximize seating. as a result the flight was uncomfortable. You think this may be the reason for the fairly low fare but they stick it to you with baggage fees. The maximum is 15kgs [ most airlines allow 23kgs ] In addition you have to pay for all items on board. There is no such thing as free coffee or soft drinks. I would recommend this airline if you have little or no baggage and are going on a day trip to Wellington or Auckland. Otherwise, stick with Air New Zealand."
Pros: "It wasn't cancelled like previous flight. It arrived and departed o time . No inflight entertainment at all."
Cons: "The cramping was incredible. No storage , people's bag from seat behind encroaching on foot space in front. Knees in my back from behind passenger. Seat design exceptionally upright, no head rest wings to support a dosing head. Torture chamber really."
Cons: "I thought it was poor I had to pay $60 for carry on luggage. Absolute rip off"
Pros: "Boarded quickly and no delays. Didn't order any food and no entertainment on planes from Nelson to Auckland"
Cons: "Baggage took a while to come out. Likely due to Jetstar only having one carousel."
Cons: "Awful service, took a booking from Melbourne to Aukland and cancelled 5 hours later. Offered no alternative or option but to leave our trip. Completely destroyed our travels which we saved years to accomplish. Avoid these (JETSTAR) like the plague, unless you want an incompetent airline to wreck your traveling. Words really cannot describe our feelings towards our treatment and lack of any empathy from the airline, who took a booking and then cancelled it in record and and said there is no other flights! Thanks for that - never again."
Cons: "RIDICULOUS baggage fees. Because I booked through Kayak I never received a confirmation from the airline. When we went to check In at the airport I was informed I would have to pay $160 PER BAG and $35 PER KILO over 15kg. The agent informed me that I needed to pay baggage fees based on weight at the time I booked. How in the hell am I supposed to know 2 months in advance how much my luggage weighs? The baggage fees were 4 times the price of the ticket! And then they weigh your carry on to try to collect even more fees if the total weight of your carry on exceeds 7kg. No food or water on board and VERY rude head flight attendant. NEVER AGAIN and I will think twice about booking through Kayak given I was never informed of these fees in advance."
Pros: "On time departure/arrival"
Pros: "Swift check in and boarding and exit."
Cons: "Terrible seating. I'm 6ft 1 and I felt cramped and couldn't get comfortable. I was constantly kicking the person in front of me in the back and under the seat."
Pros: "We didn't crash and everything apart from the leg room being smaller was okay."
Cons: "They have taken two inches off the leg room. I know cause my legs now don't fit sitting straight."
Pros: "Good price/value for money."
Cons: "Paperwork issues caused a 1 hour delay leaving Perth, could have been handled better."
Pros: "courtesy baggage for carry on"
Cons: "Late flight 1.5 hr delay....so missed business meeting...will not use again for business or time critical travel And seated next to a fat passenger who spilled into my seat...most uncomfortable flight leaning into aisle to get some space meant I was bumped by the crew. lame experience all round"
Cons: "Seat. Slow boarding"
Pros: "I was rebooked to JQ7001 which is VERY disappointing as it leaves Sydney 6 hours later than JQ199, my original flight. Reason given by Jetstar: JQ199 has been closed. An outright lie as JQ199 departed Sydney as per schedule today. I"
Cons: "We were charged over $300 (NZ) for the check in luggage!!! I told the agent this is ridiculous, our seats were only $159 (NZ). She said that I should have read the "terms & conditions." Like other reviewers, I booked this flight over 3 months ago and didn't take note of any extra charges for checked-in luggage. After reading the comments of others in the same situation, I realize that I'm not alone. I wish I had checked out these reviews of Jetstar BEFORE I booked. You would be doing your clients a big favor to include mention of this strange practice of not including luggage fees by Jetstar..and warn them that these fees could bring the total cost of their airfare to over $500 for a 100 minute domestic flight for 2 travelers. My husband said next time we're going through a travel agent. Sorry"
Pros: "Crew very helpful thanks. A bit rough to have to pay 4 baggage in top of paying 4 flight. On international flights, yr baggage is included in the price ."
Pros: "Nothing, never, ever go on Jetstar"
Cons: "No explanation, no time table, awful service."
Pros: "The fare was cheap and my body physically was moved from the origin to the destination..."
Cons: "The website and customer service are annoyingly difficult to use, potentially designed to force you to pay more for extras like bags. For instance, if you pay for your bag ahead of time, it is meant to be cheaper. I tried to pay for my bag ahead of time and it took me to a check-in page. I tried multiple times but only ever got to the same check-in page. Figuring that perhaps I needed to check in first, I did this step only to find that if you pay for your bag after check in, it costs more money!! On the return trip, I felt wiser so I refused to fill in the check-in page before paying for baggage. I exhausted every possible link on their website and ultimately had to call customer service. This took an annoyingly long time. I was told when I tried to pay for a 15kg bag that they had run out of space on the plane and I couldn't pay for this; however, I COULD pay for a 20kg bag at a higher price. WHAT? As I was told this was my only option, I took it, but the logic defies reason and makes me conclude that their systems are simply designed to force you to pay for extras. If I had it to do over, I would just book Air New Zealand for an extra $50-- it would save me plenty of time and hassle."
Pros: "We selected this flight with no knowledge of this airline, as we were coming from the states. Being international traveling for three weeks obviously we had some luggage with us. This domestic flight does not allow any free check in, and you are only allowed 7 kg as a carry-on. You also have to pre-pay for your check in baggage before you get to the airport otherwise you are charged three times the price. If you don't know all of this before you go, you will be in big trouble. I do not recommend this airline for international travelers."
Pros: "Cheerful, pleasant and helpful ground crew and flight attendant"
Cons: "Not even a cup of water available in flight??"
Pros: "Easy, efficient"
Cons: "Very expensive"
Cons: "My seat was uncomfortable as the Padding wasn't attached to the seat"
Pros: "They left on time."
Cons: "The Jetstar checkin staff. They are not very friendly. I was a few kilos overweight and I had nothing but grief from them - as well as my purse put on the scales - which added to the weight. I have never had my purse put on the scales before. I ended up having to pay $160.00 Australian for a few kilos. My fare did not even cost that much. As far as I am concerned Jetstar need a watchdog to take this up on travellers behalf. How can a few filos cost that much - when you can book your luggage through for $25.00."
Cons: "Left late and ripped the handle off my case."
Cons: "The woman at the check-in desk was rude and seemed to delight in the fact that she could charge me a LOT of money for my checked bag. (I thought I had reserved a baggage allowance online but apparently hadn't. Instead of at least trying to seem like she was sorry to have to charge me such an exorbitant fee, she was smirking the whole time, as though she was getting some sort of commission on it.) Everything else was more or less standard for a budget airline. My experience with the woman at the check-in desk, and the ridiculous size of the fee--more than I paid for my ticket--have ensured that I will never fly Jetstar again."
Cons: "Ground staff attitude, very inconsiderate, we thought that being an international flight , we were entitled to checked baggage so did not include that when we did booking. Found out at the airport that we did not have any checked baggage allowance. Although we explained that this was an error as we were under the impression that checked baggage was always included for international flights they were very in considerate and made us pay $ 320.00. Will inform everyone to avoid Jet Star airlines when they travel."
