Quantas delays in Melbourne wiped that out forcing me to pay $500 NZD for a later flight on Air NZ. After contacting with Air NZ customer service and explaining the circumstances, they reduced it to $100 NZD. Pretty cool. Quantas basically said that since I had purchased a rock bottom priced ticket I should take a flying you know what at a rolling donut."

We paid $30 per person per seat so that we could sit together and watch out for each other because some of the grandparents are in their 80's. However, when we checked in, we found out all our seats were re-arranged and in the worst possible way! Our 4 year old child was assigned in middle seat no where near my husband or myself. In addition, the family was divided in half, separated by the service station. I had switched seat so I can sit with my son but my husband had to sit at the other side of the service station to take care of the other half of the family because they do not speak English. I was left to attend to my 4 year old son by myself, which was hard to do. what bothers me the most is that there seem to be no obvious reason for them to re-arranged seats in such a devastating manner - it was not a full flight at all. I saw quite a few empty seats in the back. We spoke to the woman who was the head of the stewardess about the problem upon boarding, she said she would try to see what she could do, but she never got back to us at all. The seats were horrible seats for a few reason. First, there were a lot of traffic and noise from crew and other passengers because they were next to the Service station. Second, we were always the last one to receive food service because of the location. This is a problem when you have 4 year old and 80 years old who were diabetics."

We paid about $600 for our seats only, without knowing that Jetstar would want to also be paid extra for our baggage. They call it baggage allowance. If Kayak knew what the hell they were doing ( they are supposed to that is why we pay them) they would also know about the baggage allowance and it would have been $11. However when we arrived at the airport Jetstar wanted another $640 for our two 20kg bags. We were able to talk them down to $320. We went from Auckland to Sydney and for our connecting flight they wanted an additional $640. I said no, and that they could keep the bags. At that point I was told to get control of my emotions. Eventually we did not have to pay any additional "baggage allowance" to get to the Sunshine Coast. If I had kept control of my emotions they would have charged us at total of $1280.00 for our luggage on a $600 pair of connecting flights. What bullshit!!!!!!! Also wanted $4.00 for any kind of drink on board the plane. don't even think of food or a drink on board the plane unless you have money to burn!"

I was allowed to board the 3 previous flights with my luggage without any problems but when I got to the gate to board the plane this 4th time I was refused because of the weight of my luggage which forced me to stay in the Auckland airport for 24 hours. I was given two choices at the gate (after already passing through check in and security), I could either pay $160 or throw away half of my luggage. This was outrageous and unethical as Jetstar offered my two impossible choices. I did not have $160 nor did I seem to have time to sort through half my luggage to throw it away which left me missing my flight. The Jetstar employee, who was as cold as ice, then walked me out where I was told I would have to catch the next flight, the next day, and needed to pay $75 to transfer my ticket and pay the normal fee of $40 to get my luggage checked. AFter sleeping in the airport, the next morning I went to check in only to be told the flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues and was transferred to another airline (Qantas: which was very good! You should use them). I would have been happy to pay the normal fee of $40 at the gate but once they open the gate the fee goes through the roof. This is unethical when it forces a person to not board there flight to another country. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH JETSTAR UNLESS YOU HAVE ONLY 7KILOS OF LUGGAGE WHICH IS BASICALLY A BACKPACK."

Cons: "Checkin staff gave us back row seats that sit straight up with less legroom without asking if we were OK with that and different than we asked for. Stewardess moved us forward into empty seats after we objected.."
Cons: "They charge me for a luggage $230.00 for 19 kg. It's a rob. The plane was late.No offer for a glass of water.Staff not to much friendly"
Cons: "They left my luggage in Auckland (I live in Dallas) AFTER forcing me to pack everything into it due to the dumbest "1 carry on" rule I've ever heard. The check in counter was severely understaffed. The whole experience was terrible and it was literally my first experience."
Pros: "Comfortable and on time!"

Cons: "The cost of my baggage was triple the cost of my flight. The assistants at the desk and gate were rude. I don't fly internationally often and I was anxious, they did not have time or interest in helping me. I could've been on a United flight with my parter 10 hours earlier for the same cost, had I known I would actually pay far more than the cost upfront. I will not be flying Jetstar again."
Cons: "There was no entertainment"

Cons: "where to begin... 1) $455 in baggage charges. yes, you read that right. 2 tickets cost $150. bags cost $450. absurd. enough said. we were connecting from an international flight, 2 adults and a toddler. it's not like we had an obscene amount of luggage. 2) so i tried to buy an extra seat (we were traveling with our 23-month old son)... buying an extra ticket and baggage allowance with it would have cost $100 less than the baggage charge with 2 tickets. But they would not allow this. 3) they would, however, block the seat next to us for free, so it would remain empty for my son. So we were not allowed to buy it, but they would keep it free for us. 4) we get on the plane, and the seat next to us is not blocked... someone else sits in it. if the plane is full, that makes perfect sense... but the plane wasn't full.. there were 20 empty seats. 5) so my son is unhappy because he wants his own seat, we're crammed into a full row... and there's a completely empty row behind us. So I ask the flight attendant if we can move. She says no, not until after take-off... first person to get there wins. Really? So, thank you but no thank you to jet star. at every opportunity they might have had to make our trip easier... they failed. miserably."
Pros: "They were very efficient at boarding, and crew was nice. All our flights were on time and had no issues."
Cons: "The baggage fees were all over the board, for the same piece of luggage I paid anywhere from $28 (pretty standard) to $49. I'm not sure what dictates the difference, as when I printed off the itinerary for the 4 flights we had they all said $28 and no one could give me an explanation of why the change or difference. The bag was in within the standard weight limits. Had I know that I probably would have chosen a different carrier as they weren't that much less expensive."
Cons: "My carry on was 3kg overweight.. they made me check it and charged me 160.00nz$ Ordered water and coffee on the flight and was told they would e-mail me my tax invoice.. still haven't recieved it."
Cons: "They charged me $450 to check my bags. I was never told I needed to check them in advance online. When I asked why I never received an email about the rules they said "passenger's responsibility, not ours." They also wouldn't even give me water for free. You had to purchase a water bottle on flight. Never flying with them again. Absolute crooks."
