We were very impressed by the quality of service, the meal and entertainment offerings- it was a nice memory of how flying with USA airlines used to be in the good ol days. We flew economy so nothing special was added to our basic service."

Cons: "First I wasn't told I'd be going domestic . Arrived at the airport 4:30 to catch the internation flight @7:20. Funny thing is I was the only person around. There was the changing of shifts for ground & cleaning etc. No ticket booths. Put passport in kiosk,it said basically no. Finally a ticket agent showed up. She tried my passport ,and nothing. Checked threw the computer & it said leaving out of domestic. Go down to the end of the hall, can check in there. It's Qantas alright, not open till 7:00. Start to panic a bit. Stopped someone and asked. They told me I was at the wrong terminal! Get to other, check in. Ask if I have to collect luggage and customs at LAX. No goes right threw. Wrong. Waited for cases at LAX. Have to collect & go threw customs. No cases, lost in Melbourne. Then I was ignored."

Cons: "The food was gross, which could be a just a cultural difference in food tastes. There were no functioning USB charger ports on the return flight even though the ports were present. No wifi, which is a first. Most airlines I fly on these days always have some type of wifi. Lastly, the 'touch-screen' on the seat for entertainment barely worked. Buttons didn't work no matter how much you touched them. There was a delay and the selection of movies and tv were pathetic. I will not be flying Qantas again."

Cons: "The lounge was horrible. Crowded, lack of choice for food and drink. Not even crisps available, just stodgy white bread sandwiches and some deep fried (frozen) samosas. Nothing in any way healthy, nothing meat free. The service was however a very high standard, but the staff only had what they had to work with. This flight is always full, so I don't understand why Qantas does not fix this problem."

Once we got to the airport, I was told that I should have known better & checked in 24 hours prior. initially, the agent said that all seats are appropriated randomly. At the gate, I'm told different. I had to fight tooth & nail to get a seat next to my wife (who often gets airsick). It didn't feel good to have to argue & make a scene to accomplish this."

The first flight they couldn't even make it right and the service lady was very rude and not helpful. I hope I never have to use their service in the future. They should take a page from Alaska Airlines whose service is always amazing."
