Pros: The hotel and its stuff was very nice, the view from the balcony was amazing, the nearest beach very clean and beautiful, good restaurants near, very quiet place

Pros: A fantastic hotel. Service was impeccable, the rooms were clean, well designed and stunning views. A great location for Rio with a fun rooftop pool scene.

Pros: This is a wonderful hotel, luxury one, really fancy and well located. The poll bar is amazing and the view from the pool as well!! Staff is really really nice! We loved it!!!

Pros: The hotel's location in Rio de Janiero is great, which was a relief as the concierge offered to send an armoured car for our transfer from the airport (no kidding !). Great spot for Ipanema Beach, the Fort, the Sunday Hippy Market, restaurants and shopping and walking distance to the lagoon and Copacabana. On the Sunday morning of our stay the roads along Ipanema and Copacabana beaches were closed to traffic, and we join a great crowd of runners and cyclists getting some exercise in the sun. The design aesthetic throughout is quite pleasing. The rooftop pool is lovely, though overrun with Instagrammers (ok - that's like the free entertainment) and aspiring high-rollers trying to get noticed. The gym was spectacularly well equipped, and the concierge team were helpful when I asked for advice on booking an excursion across the city.

Cons: My wife and I were initially given a first floor room that had a nasty smell, a noisy AC unit, and bedsheets that were damp. Welcome to the Leading Hotels of the World (Not !). We spoke to 4 members of staff, who all confirmed the problem, yet still waited over an hour before being offered another room on the same floor, and a complimentary treatment in the spa (which we were were later charged for). Our sleep was disturbed by noise from the beach and the road outside during every night of our stay. It transpires (having spoken with one of the customer service managers) that all of the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors are blighted in this way. I really object to paying as much as the Fasano charge, and not getting a decent night's sleep. There are so many members of staff working in this hotel, you might imagine it should make for great customer experience. But the staff in reception pass the buck; the maid wouldn't let us enter our room one afternoon (we went to the rooftop bar to wait till she released our room and our stuff); and the army of waiting staff around the rooftop bar and pool have a tendency to ignore mere mortals and focus their attention on wealthier customers. You can tip and tip again, you can pay the exhorbitant additional charge for breakfast, and you can smile and pass the time with the many members of staff who will enquire about your day. But you may well find yourself paying five star money for a much poorer service.

Cons: Check in was a chaotic shambles, never a good first impression. We arrived early so did not expect rooms to be ready, they promised to call us when rooms became available. They did not call. Room numbers were changed and mixed up between our party. Eventually got allocated a room mid afternoon, cards did not work in lift, then did not work in room door, one of our cases was lost and found in another room. Hotel was a little tired, carpets and furnishings stained. Breakfast disappointing, especially hot food. Seems to be living on its position and neglecting to keep up standards which should be a lot higher bearing in mind the room rate.

Pros: we booked the hotel through kayak- their website was not working, we had some issues at check in but they were resolved, the stay was great, the rooms were clean and nice , we were upgraded to the executive lounge - breakfast and light dinner was included.food was very good. service was excellent- internet was reasonably fast, all in all - a pleasant stay-

Pros: Hotel location was great! It faces the incredible, beautiful beach on the Atlantic Ocean. Room was a luxurious, comfortable, double room suite on the 22th floor. Had access to the VIP Lounge facilities, which offered, at no charge: food, drinks & deserts. Our stay, included a delicious breakfast on the second floor facing the ocean. The rooftop Bar has a great staff and makes fantastic drinks. Alessander is outstanding and will mix for you an unforgettable Brazilian Piña Colada! The bar offers awesome views of the beach, stunning mountain range and the impressive Statue of Jesus Christ the Redeemer, who majestically overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro. Our family will return! Eddie G.

Pros: Hotel exhibited the usual Marriott hospitality...even to remember my birthday with a bottle of wine and a chocolate birthday cake! I arrived at 10.30am and there was a room ready for me. Good limo service arranged to the port for me. Roof terrace food, pool, bar and lounge area excellent...not to mention the views. Marriott always comes through!

Pros: We stayed for one night only before going to Buzious. Hotel was fine for the night. Hotel is very old now but was clean enough to stay. Breakfast was average. It’s well located, right on Copacabana but personally I prefer Ipanema as it’s not as touristy and felt safer at night.

Pros: Excellent location, opposite the beach. The bedroom was spacious, very good daily cleaning services with fresh towels each day. Breakfast was very good with lots of options including fresh fruits, smoothies, pastries, eggs etc. The staff are very efficient and helpful. Security on the door at all times. On our day of arrival, our room was ready and we were able to check in to our room before the check in time which was great after a long flight. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Cons: The gym floor space could be bigger given the size of the hotel but the gym has some basic equipment such as free weights, treadmills, bikes and some weight equipment

Pros: Great views from the rooftop of both Cristo Redentor and the whole Copacabana beach at sunset/sunrise and good service poolside there. Welcome drink to enjoy the view at the rooftop pool! Loungers with cushions and tables for service in lighted area open til 11 PM was great for relaxing even after sunset. Views from breakfast of the beach and just walk across to great included beach service with loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas, and available food and drink with caring service. Friendly welcome and tips from the reception, always greeted and helped by staff at the door. Good breakfast with variety. Location excellent!

Cons: Room for four not available (at least when I booked). Check out was a little slow because the person was distracted with managing some issues. Elevator button for going up didn't work on our floor but you could push the down button and get into the elevator and push a button for a floor up from inside, but that needs to be fixed. One morning the rooftop wasn't open for the sunrise. Cot mattress not very supportive for a third person.

Pros: Very good location, in a safe area in Copacabana. Room was spacious and well equipped - including USB sockets to recharge electronics. Good breakfast and very helpful staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Cons: Some renovation work were ongoing on my floor and it could be a bit noisy sometimes. My room was comfortable but I would have preferred (and I had requested for) a king size bed instead of two single beds.
