Rio de Janeiro hotels near Biblioteca Nacional

Pros: Staff was excellent tried their best to cope with my preferences. The hotel is at the heart of Rio, close to restaurants, coffee shops and amenities.

Cons: TV channels were mostly in Portuguese, not very convenient for English speaking travelers like me. The breakfast buffet may need more varieties, especially in hot selections.

Cons: on the menu, a bottle of water costs 4 $B but at check out we were charged 8 for each water.

Pros: The hotel is an oasis in the midst of the chaos of a huge city. The rooms are spacious, the lighting excellent. I really liked the shower and bath amenities. The whole hotel was very clean and neat. The pool area looked very inviting. The staff are very polite and helpful.

Cons: We heard the neighbors partying all night long. We had to get up at 3AM for a flight, so it was totally disturbing.

Cons: No kettle or iron in rooms, lack of English skills. Could be better setup for tourists and provide more proactive information about Lapa, Rio and what is happening in and around town.

Cons: A smile and attention to detail can go a million miles with customers. They need to do a better job of making the best first impression. The hotel needs to train all the staff for better customer service. They need to pay attention if they are waiting in front of them and need to not be on the phone every single ring. Guests have stuff to do and very busy so when they go to the concierge, pay attention to them. They also need to make sure every single room gets clean everyday. The only overnight stay that we did, they didn’t even bother cleaning the room at all. Not even an apology for the delay. They will give you some lame excuse that the cleaning lady had many rooms to clean. Sure the day gets busy, but when the customer bothered calling the concierge desk to clean the room, you better send the staff there ASAP. Customers does not have to call the concierge desk to get their rooms clean EVER! It irks me that they consider this hotel 4-5 stars. Yes, they have the amenities but they serve their customers like they’re staying in a hostel.

Pros: The bathroom in the suites is fantastic. The rooms are very clean. Great location. Staff were very nice and helpful. The security at the entrance was reassuring despite never feeling in danger at all.(nice area) The omelette chef at breakfast was fantastic. The extra large bed was comfortable. The entire hotel was very clean. Very pretty hotel. Easy to find / locate. 5 minute walk from the popular busy area of Lapa and the Selaron Steps. Good value for money over all.

Cons: Wifi was very poor. No iron and ironing board available to guests (had to pay) Laundry service was expensive Breakfast offered limited options if staying here longer than 2 nights. Room service was served cold and only sandwiches are available 24 hours.

Cons: It could have more options as a snacks en the restaurant. Besides that it was everything great !

Pros: Staff here are outstanding! Everyone says hello to you and seems genuine. The view of the bay toward Sugarloaf is exceptional, especially having it as the backdrop to breakfast.

Cons: The hotel is ageing, and feels a bit tired. The rooms, although clean, could do with an update... actually, every part of this hotel could do with a bit of a modern update. My shower didn't work properly, but it was quickly fixed. If you are ordering food from the a la carte menu, the restaurant could take a long time to bring your food and drinks. Once my fried chicken wings took about 20mins to arrive, and when it did it wasn't cooked properly. Also, there's a nightclub in the same building with an outdoor lounge which played music extremely loud on Saturday night until 8am on Sunday morning! The music could be heard clearly in my room. Luckily I'm a heavy sleeper and it didn't bother me too much.

Pros: The rooftop was the best part and our view from the rooftop and our room. We could see Christ the Redeemer from our room. The young man who checked us in was very nice as well as the rooftop staff.

Cons: The check-in dragged although the service was pleasant. The other staff in the hotel can make you feel uncomfortable as if they aren’t used to seeing certain types of people in certain stations of life. The second night a large cockroach was found in our room. Staff was quick to come settle but we killed it ourselves and it was unsettling to find such a bug in your living quarters. The next day we received a call stating they saw 2 unauthorized people via the security entering our room and whether we had friends over. The 2 people ended up being in fact us - I wonder the confusion as we had been staying there at that point for 3 nights and either way the people entering had a key and why wait 10 minutes to inform us because if it were intruders they likely would have gotten a good load. All in all it was an interesting experience mainly because of the location, the proximity to everything and the rooftop. Breakfast also needs more options.

Cons: However, I am disabled and your accessibility is terrible. No bars in the shower, front entrance was terrible for me, including the garage entrance. Nobody offered me the use of the wheelchair. I didn't even know there was one available until the day of my check-out.

Pros: If you like to go out and have bars, restaurants and clubs in walking distance it's a plus. If you want to sleep and relax it's a minus. Brazilians like to have party the whole night :-) I liked this party life much. Close to Santa Theresa, metro, beach. Perfectly located! Rooms are very spacy. Stuff very helpful and friendly. I travel a lot and compared to the price (35€ incl. Breakfast) I never had a better hotel..

Pros: It’s not in the nicest neighborhood but it’s just the best value for your money. The breakfast was good, staff helpful and you can book some tours to see a bit of the city.

Pros: I felt that the price was very fair for being Rio. The room and everything was very well kept. The staff was friendly, and the hotel is in a good location/proximity to many of the sites in Rio.

Cons: Staff service in check in, I asked to give me higher floor but he did not tried to find an opportunity to changed the offered third floor. the cleanliness of the room and the bathroom, towels as well, It was impossible to open the window as the street was very noise and also it was impossible to use the conditioner as it worked very loudly as well.

Pros: Very good location in Lapa, with a lot of bars and restaurants in the near. Not dangerous, also in the nights. A lot of street bars and parties at the weekend. Hotel was good enough. Comfortable room and good Wi-Fi.

Cons: Staff in the hotel could be more friendly. Portuguese only. On the first day my friends picked me up from the hotel to go to the city. They came at first to my room for some minutes. Hotel has charged additional cost for this visit (according to the house rules 70 R$ per person). It was not OK but the personal on the reception didn't want to discuss. Hotel room wasn't clean enough.

Cons: With my friend, they ripped off us, they withdrawn the paiement for my card that I used for the reservation on booking and when check in they asked us to pay so my friend used her card and they withdram money from it again. During the check out, they promised us to refund one of us the week after but they didn't do it.
