When kayak directed me to VA, I made the purchase and certainly did not remember being offered a chance to purchase baggage fee as other airlines offer (e.g. BA). While I understand kayak refer users to search airlines baggage fees it need to make sure that airlines offer true and baggage fees at the time of purchase so the full cost of flight is clear at purchase time."

MY travel plans were canceled and l tried thru KAYAK and Quantas to cancel this flight and was not able to confirm cancelation but still received flight boarding. l tried to get refunded thru Kayak and that has been horrible long unreasolved task now l am trying to go thru Credit card. with this Covid changing world, airlines and travel companies should be refundable especially since this is a Australian airlines. l am about to lose $1000.00.

Cons: "A jacket of ours was accidentally left on the plane, and when I returned 5 minutes later I was not allowed to retrieve it. So I went to flight services to try and retrieve the jacket and they did almost nothing to try and help me get it. In fact we ultimately lost the jacket because they told us that they probably threw it away with all of the blankets and pillows from the flight. That was very frustrating."

The food on the flight wasn’t great. In a ten hour flight, we basically only ate once, and the meal didn’t offer much. Everything was fine, though.

Since my first flight was delayed and I barely made it to my connection, I had no time to grab something to eat at the airport. And being celiac, there was only a nut and fruit mix. Not enough to substitute for a meal. My biggest complaint however is with 3 hours left of the flight, i turned on the call button to request a beverage and nobody came. I waited 45 minutes, having to turn on the light 3 separate time because it automatically must have timed out. I couldn't get out of my seat due to seat belt sign. I looked back into the rear galley and 5 attendants were back there talking. Tried to get their attention. Nothing. Finally, I got up and went to get my own drinks. Being a server at hotel in waikiki, I understand that customer service is very important. And though I understand that they may have been busy and unable to answer my call, I could see that clearly was not the problem. They were just standing there and chatting. Very frustrating. Though they were friendly, they just simply weren't paying attention. I have to say in all honesty, I will not be recommending nor flying United airlines again."

Cons: "The guy puked halfway through the flt and not one single flt attendant came even though they were serving drinks repeatedly to the dr sitting in the row in front of me. Also the flt was delayed as we waited almost an hour for people trying to connect which made me more upset since I was rebooked on that later flt because although my previous flt was there half hour before departure, we didn't have a gate to use which caused me to be 15 mins late for my original flt. Did they wait for me?! NO! I was rebooked. It's unfair that they stole an hour of life from every other passenger to accommodate a few. Back to the guy who puked, an hour after that he started shaking and grabbing his head and asking me why am I hurting his heart. Then incoherent blathering and then his last episode 20 minutes before we land in which he started hitting himself in the head saying he would die right now for his wife and how he's made mistakes. It was three separate incidents from this one passenger and not one flt attendant noticed? Yeah it was bad piled on worse stacked on top of never United ever again."

Cons: "Honestly, the customer service with United was in need of serious improvement, from the moment we checked our bags to the time we were in flight, we were given very poor service, the man at baggage check in was extremely condescending, acting like we should know everything about United's processing instead of just helping us with our needs in the first place and it added unnecessary extra stress to our travels from Colorado to Hawaii. I don't even want to blame the employees as it was very obvious that they hated their jobs and just wanted the shift to be done with; something needs to be addressed about how they can accommodate both employees and paying customers alike. Let's just say I can't wait until Hawaiian Airlines expands to Denver flights so we never have to deal with United again, as this is the only reason we used this airline."
Pros: "Delayed 3hrs due to awaiting the aircraft. Was given the option to change flights with no more flights to HNL tonight"
Pros: "The crew of this flight were amazing, attentive, and so positive. They certainly made the long flight an enjoyable one. The only challenge was that the in-flight entertainment stopped working 5 hours into the flight. That said, the crew informed us of how United would compensate us for that. As for the landing, that was perfect. We eased onto the tarmac so gently it barely felt as though we had landed."
Cons: "I wasn't too excited that the in-flight entertainment quit working about five hours in, but the crew did their best to remedy the situation. It did stink that we were delayed in disembarking, but that wasn't the fault of the crew. Lastly, I do wish that food came complimentary with it being a 9-hour flight. The options presented were tasty looking but it felt a little like we were being nickeled and dimed."

Cons: "I paid for for “sports equipment” when I purchased my ticket, however was still made to pay an extra 275$ For my bike upon arrival at the boarding gate. Not happy. I lined up for 1hr 7 minutes before I was able to check in, ridiculous - I just got to the gate as it was boarding and I Arrived 3 hours early for my international flight."

Pros: "This no-frills airline gets you to and from Australia fairly cheaply, although when you start adding in all the extras, it may not be as cheap as first thought."
Cons: "We attempted to add a meal online and were thwarted at every turn. It took a call and talking to a real person to resolve our issue. Plus, the in-flight service is so minimal; one person in our party tried to get a glass of water, and never received one. It seems a little parsimonious to charge for things like coffee and tea, especially on such a long flight between the US and Australia."

Pros: "I'm a regular flyer, and can't count how often I've been on planes. This was the best, smoothest and least stressful of any shirt hop I've ever taken, and while it can't rival a big plane for food or entertainment, the seats were cozy, I had legroom and it was simply very well done!!"

Couldn't they at least spring for a pillow when you have an overnight flight?! Rather disappointing."

Pros: "The basmati rice with free range chicken meal was surprisingly really tasty. I usually don't like airplane food, especially when you have to pay extra on board for it, but I was hungry on a 9 hour flight and had to order something."
Cons: "From the moment of boarding the staff seemed stressed out and over it. Not very friendly, especially when disembarking the plane in Honolulu. They didn't offer goodbyes or thank yous to passengers as we got off the plane."

The really bad thing is that they only offer water for purchase. It is a well known health risk to sit for hours in a plane especially if you don't stay hydrated. What can they be thinking????"

Cons: "Bagage fee extortion, we were a family of four and had to pay $200 US dollars for 4 bags because it was not paid online. I wasn't sure what everyone was bringing yet when I booked tickets. the baggage agent told us it would have been less than ten dollars per bag if booked online. I can see doubling the price but not quadrupling... the luggage is still boarding the plane, whether you pay 10 or 50 dollars, it doesn't change anything other than they make more money off of the passengers."
Pros: "Allowed us to sit with bassinet for our three month old baby. Flight was very smooth and staff were friendly. Make sure to order meal ahead of time as that's what we did and that way you get served first."

Pros: "First I was very happy that the flight to Melbourne was direct, no intermediate city. On that flight Honolulu boarding was by rows from the rear of the plane, which meant the plane boarded the full flight rapidly. The serpentine approach and using both front and rear entry sped up boarding Melbourne to Sydney. The fare was outstanding--I was aware during booking that I would need to add on for baggage, seats, food, entertainment. Jetstar advertises itself as a lowcost airline. I thought I got good value for money. I see most complaints are coming from domestic Australian passengers."
Cons: "Seats in coach are 9 across in a Boeing 787, just a wee bit cramped sideways although legroom was not a problem. I do agree that coffee and tea should not be charged for--AUD 4 which is $3. The other problem is one at Sydney where AUD 6 is charged for a five minute bus to the international terminal, Jetstar should make this free."

Cons: "I was extremely disappointed not to have a blanket provided without charge, or a small meal or even a tea beverage without a costly purchase! I paid for a flight from Australia to Honolulu, a minimum of almost 10 hours, and no meal, no beverages, no blanket for an overnight flight without a costly additional purchase. I have tellethto health issues as it is, nevermind no half warm sleep or supplementary beverages or meal. I felt very used and taken advantage of. Substantially disappointed with the way we were treated for such a long overnight flight."
Cons: "I didn't like that I wasn't offered a complimentary beverage for a 9+ hour flight. I had to buy a tiny bottle of water for $4. I did not feel like a valued customer at all. I'd gladly pay extra for an airline that treats passengers like actual human beings."
Cons: "Change in Jetstarflight times messed up our other connections and we had to stay in Melbourne 2 extra days (at our own expense) to avoid the a 12 hour layover in Sydney on the "next available flight" that was offered instead. Seats were very uncomfortable (especially the headrest), too close together, and mine didn't recline. There was a lot of turbulance, unlike any I had ever been in before. The plane seemed to be shifting left and right instead of up and down. The temperature varied from too hot to too cold."

It costs extra to select a seat, the airline seems to specialize in putting families with small children in the 'premium' seats which mean those of us who want a quiet trip instead get a screaming child behind, next to, and in front of us. Food is extra! They will give you water if you ask but otherwise, pay."
Cons: "The luggage policy is opaque. We boarded in Honolulu, going to Sydney, and checked our bags at no cost in order to limit our carry-on to 7 kilos per their rules. The return flight was to follow the same plan but they told us it would be $160 AUD per piece at check-in! Granted, $160 AUD is only $115 USD but that's OUTRAGEOUS. They looked at the luggage and said we could carry it on! Who makes these rules?! The Aussies have it figured out but if you're an American with no prior experience BEWARE. The Aussies I spoke to refer to Jetstar with a much more derogatory term ending with star. Wonder why. If your goal is a comfortable flight to/around Australia, take another line. If you want cut-rate, cattle-class with a high risk of a screaming child in your ears (I was wearing noise-cancelling headphones), then choose Jetstar. For my purposes, Jetstar is no-star. I won't fly them again."

Could not be bothered fighting over the fifth as there were only four of us travelling and had only accidentally paid for five. After all the costs for add-ons, it's better to pay slightly more for a better carrier."
Pros: "I was scared to purchase here because the prices were too good to be true but my sister dared me to just purchase the tickets since she's been using this to travel around Europe and Asia so I thought I'd give it a try to travel to Australia and ta-da! It really works! I got back safely without any problems! I will surely use Kayak again!"

Cons: "Oh where do I start. I guess check-in at the Sydney airport. Apparently this airline has a very different baggage policy. A policy that is not really readily available for you to see. Customer Service at the counter was horrible including the manager that we talked to. We ended up throwing things in the trash to get our weight down and we were told we changed our baggage weight and lowered our own allowance . How rediculous would that be of us. They even told us we were only allowed 1 carry on which includes our purse and could not be over A certsin weight. For a small carry-on......that is really rediculous. Our luggage cost us $470.00. We had no complimentary food or entertainment for our 8 hour flight. We will NEVER fly this airline again and I hope from reading this review and many others, that you won't either."
