Even anticipating this, it still cost double what I was expecting; must have been the difference between advance payment and day-of rates, but the degree of difference in cost left me feeling swindled."

Cons: "Some policies were not made clear before I arrived to check in. No skateboards as a carry-on. I’ve never had a problem before until Jetstar. Also they overcharged me by $50 to process my visa application before I was allowed to check in. The visa cost $20, Jetstar charged me $70 and would not allow me to apply for the visa on my own at the time of check-in."

Pros: "No redeeming factors with awful customer service. I missed my connecting flight due to another flight being late. As a result, I called them to notify them I would not be able to make the flight and asked to switch flights. After explaining the situation, they refused to waive the flight change fee and even charged additional fees even though I had no control of the situation. They took advantage of the situation I was forced into and have no ethics. Absolute garbage."

Pros: "Jetstar offers cheap flights and if you check in early enough, you can often get your preferred seat. Great option for small people (height wise!) who want to travel light."
Cons: "There’s always a risk involved when booking with jetstar. I’ve gotten lucky so far with no cancellations and some very kind flight attendants, but you really never know. There is no standard of service. You need to know that EVERYTHING costs extra so traveling light is of the utmost importance."

Pros: "I honestly can't think of a single thing I liked about this flight, but if pressed, perhaps I enjoyed the staff in Honolulu during check in. The rest was horrible. Hated it all."
Cons: "Absolutely horrible. This airline is truly the Greyhound of the sky. There was an absurd amount of families on this flight with really young screaming, ill-behaved children and their indifferent parents. The flight attendants were equally indifferent and unhelpful. You get absolutely nothing for free - everything cost - food, blankets, pillows, etc. on this 10 hour flight. AND when water was requested, it was a small, mouthwash size cup with a note, that "we charge for water." $4. Wow. Probably one of the worst experiences in the air ever. I won't be back. The price was stellar, but after paying for seats, luggage and enduring the people on the flight, I'd prefer to pay more and get A LOT MORE from an airline like Virgin Australia. If you're cutting corners and trying to save money, save yourself and your sanity and spend a little more on quality airline."
Cons: "Felt totally scammed by their baggage policy. Did not realize you have to pay for baggage in advance (which was a bit tricky since I didn't know how much my bags would weigh at the time of purchase) and was forced to pay nearly $1000 d For bags at the gate. Absurd!"

Cons: "Spent almost 200 dollars for baggage and seating. They lost my luggage and it took 3 days to get it back, finally. On my flight back they messed up my seat. I booked an aisle seat and got something right in the middle. When I told them I payed for seating they told me that you can pay for it but they still don't guarantee that you get the seat. Why exactly do I spent money on seating then? I'll never fly jetstar again."

Kayak provided no information on meal/drink advance order/purchase options. This was my fort time flying this airline and I didn't know what to expect. We experienced a mechanical issue feat but the pilot was great at providing updates. We were later delayed due to another aircrafts gas spill on the tarmac. Again, great communication from the flight deck. We were able to make up the time. Baggage fees are extremely high, about the price of an additional ticket. Pros: "Nothing. JetStar used unethical business practices to force us to pay $160 dollars for our baggage. Usually baggage costs $13. They clearly have pulled this extortion trick on customers many times before. We were left to choose between abandoning all of our clothing and souvenirs and other possessions, or paying them an absurdly high fee. So we didn't really have much choice. F JetStar. I'll never fly with them again. If you're smart you won't either."

Way to nickel and dime and jeopardize our health with bacteria filled water that is not in a sealed bottle."

It may have been partly because the seat next to me was empty so cramped seats were not a problem. The plane was the modern Dreamliner and the entertainment system kept me entertained."

Cons: "where to begin... 1) $455 in baggage charges. yes, you read that right. 2 tickets cost $150. bags cost $450. absurd. enough said. we were connecting from an international flight, 2 adults and a toddler. it's not like we had an obscene amount of luggage. 2) so i tried to buy an extra seat (we were traveling with our 23-month old son)... buying an extra ticket and baggage allowance with it would have cost $100 less than the baggage charge with 2 tickets. But they would not allow this. 3) they would, however, block the seat next to us for free, so it would remain empty for my son. So we were not allowed to buy it, but they would keep it free for us. 4) we get on the plane, and the seat next to us is not blocked... someone else sits in it. if the plane is full, that makes perfect sense... but the plane wasn't full.. there were 20 empty seats. 5) so my son is unhappy because he wants his own seat, we're crammed into a full row... and there's a completely empty row behind us. So I ask the flight attendant if we can move. She says no, not until after take-off... first person to get there wins. Really? So, thank you but no thank you to jet star. at every opportunity they might have had to make our trip easier... they failed. miserably."
Cons: "The carry-on baggage limits are small (one bag maximum as opposed to most airlines that allow one bag and a personal item). The fee for checking a bag once at the airport is insane ($160 AUD). Will never fly Jetstar again. Easily worth the extra few dollars to fly Virgin or Air NZ."

Cons: "I will never fly this airline again!!! I have flown to Sydney from the U.S. at least 7 or 8 different times and have NEVER been treated so poorly! This was a 10 hour flight and the flight attendants wouldn't even give you water!!! You had to pay $4 a bottle!! That is utterly ridiculous! I just got off an amazing domestic flight with Delta on only a 5 hour flight and they gave us FREE unlimited soft drinks, juice, coffee, tea and WATER!!! They also gave nuts, pretzels and cookies and we're kind enough to give my 3 children extra. Also, to our wonderful surprise their inflight entertainment was free as well! I PAID for inflight entertainment on Jetstar & my TV barely worked! The food was horrendous and ridiculously expensive! When I asked if I could have a cup of water, the flight attendant on Jet star told me to go to the back of the plane and get it myself!!!!! Are you serious??? I went to get it myself and then got yelled at by another flight attendant who told me, " you're not allowed back here!" Get your stories straight Jetstar ugh attendants - or how about you give your passengers FREE water on their 10 hour flight!! Because I had to get the water myself, I then got trapped in the back of the plane because ALL the flight attendants were in the isles for 30 minutes taking the entire planes drink orders & everyone had to pay by credit card! When they weren't in the isles being cashiers, they are found sleeping in the back and knitting! Really? This what I paid for- to watch them sleep & knit??? And me or my family (3 children) couldn't even get water or decent food? Thanks for nothing Jetstar!!! Never again!"

Cons: "I was not allowed to recline my chair. The passenger behind me demanded a crew member to tell me to put my chair all the way up so I was not able to sleep. And after my already 30 hours of travel I was pretty irritated. There was no free entertainment, which I think is pretty cheap of Jetstar for a flight of that length. The flight was also delayed for two and a half hours and we were never actually given a reason. I also believe that the bag charges are pretty outrageous. The expectation of zero kilograms is extremely unreasonable."

We previously had a bad experience with Tiger air targeting us with heavy luggage and being scammed into a hefty fine to board the flight. So we decided to not take any changes with our Jetstar flight and just check in our carry ons. But did not see anyone at the Jetstar gate forcing passengers to weight bags. So overall, a good experience except I hated having having to pay for tea."

Cons: "From check in to unboarding, the JetStar experience is absolutely awful. Their baggage policies are ridiculous, the airport staff are unhelpful, the website is useless, there is no true online check in (no electronic boarding passes). I get off every JetStar flight feeling like they've done everything in their power to discourage me from flying with them again."
Cons: "Had to buy something for Christmas last minute and went to include it on my reservation and I couldn't add it so I wait to pay at the counter. Just for a little duffle bag to check in was $160 USD....I was running late because there was a que at the customer service desk of people lining up to pay $160 for any check in bag. These pigs were more worried about their $160 then getting us to our gate on time so they gave us gold lane stamps. I only had 30mins before boarding and they didn't give a rat that I was still on the line to pay $160, they needed their $160 more than me making it to my flight. I had to run to tsa and run to the gate...it was quite a way too to gate 30 at HNL. I was trenched and barely made it, my legs were sore when I was on my flight to Sydney from running. There was a couple that was behind me on the que line and I never saw them on the plane or when we got off in Sydney, I don't think they made it."
