Malaysian airlines stayed in the runway, fixing an engine and the pilot said they were delaying the plane, driving in for passengers to disembark. After being told by cabin crew that a number of us were late for connecting flight, that they were going to wait for us, they didn’t and we were told we had missed the flight. We were kindly put on the next flight which wasn’t until five hours later. Unrealistic scheduling causes is to miss our flight and had us sitting at the airport for four hours, making it an unnecessarily long day. Not impressed."

We arrived from Syndney the night before and wanted to make sure we were set for the early morning flight so went to an Air NZ information desk to get boarding pass. The agent printed out an e-ticket and said we were good to go. We arrived an hour and a half early to the gate, with our carry on bags as we have done all over the world. We heard an announcement about bags needing to be checked and assumed ours would be gate checked if needed (as anywhere else in the world). The gate agent didn't arrive til 20 minutes before the flight and told us we DIDN'T have a boarding pass and needed to return to the ticket agent and check our bags. By the time we ran back to the ticket agent we were told it was too late to check our bags. We had to pay $100 more a piece to fly LATER through Christ Church. We were on our way to meet our kids for vacation and ended up losing a day and $200 additional dollars because we were given inaccurate information by the Air New Zealand info desk."

Pros: "Handsome, kind and efficient crew. Good amount of space in and around my seat. I was not cramped, although I was in the economy section. The plane interior was indeed nice. Power outlets (both USB and 110V DC) in my seat (I assume then, every seat had that). I fly few times a year between the West Coast and Europe and my overall flight experience on this flight I think was the best one I've seen in years. Food, quality and selection was good. Nice wines in economy. Sufficient number of clean, sufficiently roomy and well stocked toilets. The fare rate I was able to get was outstanding and contributed to the overall satisfaction. Even my neighbor, in the seat next to me was very polite, quiet and pleasure to travel with (though here New Zealand Air perhaps had less of an influence)."

Cons: "I’ve flown in tight-spaced economy seats before, but the lack of space to even bend over to reach items on the floor was extreme on this plane and unacceptable for a 15+ hour flight. It truly felt like a straightjacket. Serious acrobatics were required to reach items on the floor. The tray table would also fly down on its own, the lever holding it would slide free while I was sleeping. There was no wifi at all, not even for using the qantas apps. My fiancé flew on Virgin the week before and was able to purchase wifi and stay in touch with me for $19 for the duration of the flight. Even my flight earlier this year with Qantas on the Dreamliner lacked usable wifi, but the experience of the Dreamliner plane itself was wonderful. In addition, the usb ports on the end of the armrests weren’t working. I feel it should be part of the safety briefing to point out where the usable power points are, given how vital charged phones are these days for boarding passes, reaching loved ones and entertainment when the wifi isn’t working. I didn’t realize there was a plug for laptops/ block plugs until I asked about the USB ports not working until the last 2 hours of the flight. The location of that was somewhere few would notice or look if not explicitly told. This will be the last time I ever book with Qantas when an a380 model is involved, unless great overhauls and updates are completed. Economy should not lack basic ergonomic comforts and while I’ve spent years touting my love for Qantas, having had wonderful experiences in the past, this one fell far below what I had come to expect from the Qantas name."

Checked threw the computer & it said leaving out of domestic. Go down to the end of the hall, can check in there. It's Qantas alright, not open till 7:00. Start to panic a bit. Stopped someone and asked. They told me I was at the wrong terminal! Get to other, check in. Ask if I have to collect luggage and customs at LAX. No goes right threw. Wrong. Waited for cases at LAX. Have to collect & go threw customs. No cases, lost in Melbourne. Then I was ignored."

Meanwhile as we boarded nearly every passenger had an overhead bag that most certainly weighed more than 15lbs. Not sure what was going on there...also the seats are a little tight when reclined. Once the seat in front of me reclined back I had my knees in the back of the chair the entire flight and I am not a particularly tall person- made for a pretty uncomfortable 15hrs."

With the diversion they saved about 45 min , but the exhausted passengers lost another 3 hrs in their already miserable flight. Also quantas NOT friendly for people traveling with kids.... BEWARE."

I was also informed that I had to pick my luggage up at baggage claim in Melbourne and re-Check-in even though I had booked through to Ayers Rock. The re-check-in is a way to get money from clients because I was charged $60AUD for an overweight baggage. Strange, because I was never asked about it in Perth."

AND when water was requested, it was a small, mouthwash size cup with a note, that "we charge for water." $4. Wow. Probably one of the worst experiences in the air ever. I won't be back. The price was stellar, but after paying for seats, luggage and enduring the people on the flight, I'd prefer to pay more and get A LOT MORE from an airline like Virgin Australia. If you're cutting corners and trying to save money, save yourself and your sanity and spend a little more on quality airline."

Cons: "The charge for luggage when checking in is outrageous!!! No free water offered on a 5 1/2 hr. flight! Will never use again or recommend!!!!! We took flight from Brisbane to Denpasar with your company & paid nothing for luggage, received a meal & wine for free!!! What's up with that???"
Pros: "My partner and I are very tall, so the flight attendant moved us to an exit row free of charge. It might have been a glitch in the system, but we got to use the entertainment system for free and it had a good selection."
Cons: "Weight limitations for carry on bags. You have to pay for EVERYTHING-- blanket, cup of coffee, food/snacks, even on a 12-hour flight."
Cons: "they charged $150 to check in a bag over 7 kg (15 lbs). the size of the bag was fine (20"), and if you fill such a bag with regular clothes, two pairs of shoes, and a toothbrush, you will easily hit 9-10 kg. so this airline expects you to travel with a 20" bag that is only partially filled, which is ridiculous."
Pros: "It went in the air and landed where we wanted to go"
Cons: "Checked baggage was an outrage $160 for one checked baggage under 15kg. Over 10$/kg makes my luggage almost more expensive then truffle oil. This was a shock to have to pay so much, I would understand paying for overweight luggage but just to check a bag was outrageous. Then for a 6 hour flight there was no food provided, and the only free entertainment was to promote Jetstar. If I'd have known my $180 ticket would have been double in the end I would have just gone with someone else."
Pros: "Entertainment was free."
Cons: "There was no prepaid food choices. Prepaid food portions were smaller and more expensive than choices on board to buy. Prepaid hot dog was disgusting."
Pros: "Seat was springy and broken, purser was rude and crew were not friendly or happy to work. Charging for tea, coffee and giving free tap water from a Crystal Geyser bottle refilled was a joke. Way to nickel and dime and jeopardize our health with bacteria filled water that is not in a sealed bottle."
Cons: "Movies was limited and ok for $10. That was the only thing semi good about this 11 hour ordeal."
Pros: "Crew were fantastic... efficient, welcoming, professional."
Cons: "We were SHOCKED to learn that we could not purchase additional baggage weight allowance online (were not allowed to check in online), and when we got to the counter to check in, were told that each additional kilogram of baggage weight over 20kilos (per person) would cost us $25!!! This is outrageous. We are traveling in Australia/NZ for 23 days with golf clubs and many bags, spending lots of money in these countries, and were very upset to learn of this archaic policy."
Pros: "No much, was comfortable enough to make me not completely hate it."
Cons: "You have to pay for everything, checked bags, entertainment, food. I'm used to this on the short domestic flights but a 10 to 11 hour flight that is international is ridiculous. The food I paid for was terrible and not cheap."
Pros: "When we finally worked out where we were suposed to go the staff were very nice. Good diversity of people although nearly all very young."
Cons: "long queues again for checking in and baggage check. No signage for bus to domestic air terminal or even a general direction. Just have to keep asking randome people in flouro jackets where we should go. Then bus very crowded."
Pros: "Initially, the ticket was cheap."
Cons: "The cost of my baggage was triple the cost of my flight. The assistants at the desk and gate were rude. I don't fly internationally often and I was anxious, they did not have time or interest in helping me. I could've been on a United flight with my parter 10 hours earlier for the same cost, had I known I would actually pay far more than the cost upfront. I will not be flying Jetstar again."
Cons: "Baggage I have to pay it and kayak did not even giving an options during the time I bought a ticket"
Pros: "the crew were as helpful as they could possibly be but the airline and it's policies suck"
Cons: "The fact that my flight has been cancelled just the night before the due flight. It's been a pain to reschedule"
Pros: "Some of the staff were very friendly and considerate and we were compensated with free entertainment after a long delay."
Cons: "There was no communication among staff member and zero communication with customers who were transferring. We were left in absolute confusion, had no idea about our connecting flights and had to depend on the staff of other airlines to find out about our flights."

Pros: "The fact that Jetstar used a Dreamliner for long haul flight who has very experienced pilots"
Cons: "That Jetstar makes you pay for everything from luggage (most if not all low cost airlines in other countries give you a standard check-in baggage allowance) to selecting seats and watching entertainment! I understand the concept of profit and loss but c'mon guys, this is a bit excessive!"
Pros: "I do believe that you get what you pay for, so I didn't mind the minimal level of service. The flight was on time. Check in was easy and efficient. The crew was pleasant and helpful."
Cons: "This is a problem not confined to Jetstar, but which affects the industry as a whole. Why do the board sick passengers? There was a man seated two rows behind us who coughed and wheezed the whole way from Cairns to Melbourne. He couldn't clear his lungs. He had no business on a plane infecting the rest of us."
Pros: "It was easy to book online."
Cons: "The cost to check a bag was more than the cost of the flight. We bought food at Lawsons so didn't purchase the expensive food sold on board. They didn't even offer us water."
Pros: "When finally touching down in Auckland getting off the plane."
Cons: "Check-in procedures and mandatory "wait outside of security until Jetstar customer service gets to their post in Sydney". The insanely uncomfortable seats with paper thin backs allowing for passengers behind to knee you in the kidney while trying to get comfortable themselves. I could go on for hours."
Cons: "We had a 4 hour layover in Melbourne and had to pick up our bags and recheck them but we couldn't check them in until 2 hours before our flight and there was a 145aud charge for excess weight they only a!low 15 kg virgin allows 23 and tiger air allows 20. I will not book on them again! They did not even offer water to me the attendants were too busy making sure everyone who had preorder got their order."
Cons: "room behind seats very short, staff not very attentive to those who hadn't paid for on-board options."
